[Bug 1799319] Re: Upgrade to 18.10 fails: Please install all available updates

2019-04-20 Thread Guy Rouillier
I was wondering how I could possible recreate this scenario.
Coincidentally, I received your update on the same day I learned that
19.04 was available. So, I started up the VirtualBox VM containing
Ubuntu Mate 18.10. I got a pop up telling me that 19.04, and asking if
I would like to upgrade. I hadn't started this VM in over a week, so I
ran Software Updater to check for updates. Some were available, so I
installed them first. Once finished, I closed Software Updater, then
clicked the Upgrade button on the original popup. The popup disappeared
and nothing happened! So, I'm back in this same situation as I was when
I first reported this issue.

I tried rebooting so the updates applied by Software Updater were
running. The same thing is happening. I run Software Updater; it
reports no updates are available, but a new version is available. When
I click the upgrade button, Software Updater disappears and nothing
happens.

I'm going to shut down the VM and back it up, so I can repeat this
scenario. Please let me know what steps you'd like me to take.

[Bug 1766201] Re: CTAUTO:DevOps:860.50:devops4fp1:Error occurred during LINUX Dmesg error Checking for all LINUX clients for devops4p10

2019-04-20 Thread Andrea Righi
And about the error "vio vio: uevent:" happening at boot, it could be
triggered by something in the initramfs. I think the best thing we can
do from a kernel perspective is to add extra information to the error
message to figure out exactly which task is triggering this error, and
maybe also print the exact data that is received by the kernel.

moc doesn't find a usable mixer device. Whereas Master should be avail
in both pulseaudio and alsa once alsa-utils and libasound2-plugins
are installed. Please post the output of:

$ amixer

$ ls -al /etc/alsa/conf.d

$ ls -al /etc/asound.conf

$ ls -al $HOME/.asoundrc

[Bug 1825624] [NEW] Gnome 3.32 launcher not accepting icons

2019-04-20 Thread Marais-hannes
Public bug reported:

I am currently running Ubuntu 19.04 with vanilla Gnome shell 3.32
installed.

I find that the launcher in Gnome does not always accept the icon of a
program. I have had difficulties with it accepting Firefox, Files and
the Terminal icons.

I "work around" seems to be to include the icon at the second last spot
from the bottom.

I have had this issue on two separate computers using the same
configuration ie, Ubuntu 19.04 with vanilla Gnome shell 3.32.

** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1825625] [NEW] mutter framebuffer scaling blurs display

2019-04-20 Thread Wolf Rogner
Public bug reported:

Setting the framebuffer scaling (with gsettings set org.gnome.mutter
experimental-features "['scale-monitor-framebuffer']") allows the
display on HiDPi to be scaled to something different than
100%/200%/300%.

Which would be fine.

However, the display is rendered such that most applications provide
blurred display of text and graphics.

This is not always the case (e.g. system settings are displayed
correctly, Thunderbird and Firefox are blurred).

Also the screen flickers when selection menus or resizing the windows.
A black border appears around the windows where the shadow should appear. It
gets removed a few seconds later but still is irritating.

This issue is not urgent, just annoying. It can be worked around by
removing the settings in gsetting / dconf.

[Bug 1508146] Re: Alt+left/right arrows switch between tty consoles (Gnome Shell vanishes), cannot disable

2019-04-20 Thread Philipp Verpoort
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 520546 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520546

I was experiencing the same issue on KDE Neon. Interestingly, this used
to work for ages, and now suddenly popped up all of a sudden. Running
`sudo kbd_mode -s` worked for me too.

Please could an attempt be made to prevent this from happening in the
future? It's quite annoying.

Many thanks to everybody for their effort.

[Bug 1825585] Re: Application / Document search does not close

2019-04-20 Thread Iain Cuthbertson
In order to file a bug against the "Put Windows" extension, I wrote up
instructions for replicating the issue with a vbox VM.

But installing the plugin from scratch resulted in a working extension
and desktop.

Reinstalling the extension on my actual laptop results in everything
working as expected.

---

As part of upgrading the version of Gnome, could the system
reinstall/refresh extensions so that this is a seamless process?

[Bug 1825419] Re: Rancid deb missing arrancid executible

2019-04-20 Thread Roland Rosenfeld
With the upgrade from rancid 3.4 to 3.5 the Arista support changed from
a stand alone arrancid to the module, which should be used by "rancid -t
arista".

You may have a look at /etc/rancid/rancid.types.base and you will see,
that arista is now handled there this way:

arista;script;rancid -t arista

The only issue here is, that the current packages still contain a man
page arrancid.1, which should be removed.

[Bug 1825630] [NEW] Problem dected message pops up when I boot up

2019-04-20 Thread Lyn Griffith
Public bug reported:

The message about an unidentified problem pops up whenever I boot up and
asks me to send a problem report. I've selected to send the report, but
nothing has changed.

When I opened the ACTIVITY LOG and selected DIAGNOSTICS, I chose the
option to view the error report. The screen timed-out. Firefox was
connected to the web and I have had no problems browsing for the last
several days.

I don't have a clue as to what the problem may be.

Thank you! This explains a lot.

So the short story is:

- the seed is broken
- snapd is confused by the seed and doesn't install the required snaps
- snap dependencies are not satisfied
- all hell breaks loose.

[Bug 1825636] [NEW] Battery drain during sleep. System suspended before kernel suspended all tasks

2019-04-20 Thread sknzl
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS

Expected behaviour:
No battery drain during suspend.

Ubuntu 18.04 running on a Thinkpad L390 has battery drain during suspend

[Bug 1785912]

2019-04-20 Thread Mazinalhaddad05
Nothing changed, I assume that work will be done here before the fix is
pushed.

@Marteen I also tried to build the kernel with "constant_n = true;" and
the flickering is still there. I do know that a laptop with the same
display panel (Dell xps 9370) works perfectly fine under Linux. The
panel is manufactured by AUO and is the B133ZAN01.1.

Left all my systems and routers unplugged all night.

It seems that upon a fresh install of virtualbox, that it states

vboxweb.service is a disabled or a static unit, not starting it.

though I use Stacer to enable it.

then check
/lib/systemd/system and the service file is there

perhaps its not configured correctly

[Bug 1825639] [NEW] Pulseaudio skips some time in the audio buffer, causing a bluetooth delay and crackling/clicking sound.

2019-04-20 Thread Hammad R
Public bug reported:

This is the same problem in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/405294 and
even though I have pulseaudio 12.2 (on Xubuntu 18.10), this problem
persists (this T430 laptop has inbuilt Bluetooth).

This makes listening to music or any audio over Bluetooth almost
unbearable - while it is temporarily fixed by running `pactl suspend-
sink 1 && pactl suspend-sink 0` it soon returns. I have even updated the
BIOS but the problem persists.

[Bug 1824806] Re: Network stops working after systemd update

2019-04-20 Thread Dan Streetman
> So this may very well have been fixed by 237-3ubuntu10.20, but I don't want

that's why I asked, because 10.20 included patches to prevent systemd
from removing all addresses/routes that it has config for, during
startup. So I hoped that would fix your issue as well, which it sounds
like it has.

I marked this as 'fix released' because i believe (see last comments)
the latest systemd upgrade included patches to fix this - but if it's
still reproducable with the latest systemd release please feel free to
comment and move this back to Confirmed.

[Bug 1727472] Re: [RFE] Automatically update the Ubuntu version string in ubuntu-release-upgrader

2019-04-20 Thread AsciiWolf
Well, I didn't have time to look into the source code, but the problem
is that instead of having something like "Upgrading Ubuntu to
version %s", there is a hardcoded version that is changed
every time a ubuntu-release-upgrader is released for a new Ubuntu
version.

[Bug 1727470] Re: [RFE] Automatically update the Ubuntu version strings in python-apt

2019-04-20 Thread AsciiWolf
I didn't have time to look into the source code, but the problem is that
instead of having something like "Cdrom with %s", there is a new
translatable string with hardcoded version added every time a python-apt
is released for a new Ubuntu version. You could probably make the
"Ubuntu xx.yy 'Code Name'" string not translatable (I don't think anyone
actually translates this) and use it as a part of the "Cdrom with ..."
string.

Re: [Bug 1728241] Re: stjerm project is abandoned(unmaintained) upstream -- please remove from archives

2019-04-20 Thread Chris Rainey
@Steve Langasek please see my original bug for the details of why I believe
this package should be removed unless upstream will update to latest
released version:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/stjerm/+bug/1717013

I followed directions given by Jeremy Bicha to request removal of the
package as seen here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/stjerm/+bug/1727768

[Bug 1825648] [NEW] Adding star column in toggle view is not saved when switching view in Nautilus

2019-04-20 Thread Daniel Halvorsen
Public bug reported:

1) $ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 19.04
Release:19.04

2) $ apt-cache policy nautilus
nautilus:
  Installed: 1:3.32.0-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1:3.32.0-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.32.0-0ubuntu2 500
500 http://no.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) I expected the selected column views to be present, even after I
changed view e.g. to a different folder. At least for that same folder
it should stay the same.

4) From "Home folder view": After I add the new column option: "Star" to
toggle view in nautilus this column is added. However it does not seem
to be persistent. Whenever I change the view, or close the nautilus
window it is gone the next time I open a new tab / or window. Files and
folders marked as star from this view however, seem to be persistent,
since they are visible under "Starred" items shortcut in left pane. This
does seem to work from: "Documents", "Downloads", "Music", "Pictures",
or "Videos" view in left-pane. However it does not work from "Home", or
any other non-standard folders / views added as shortcuts to left pane.

There are no pending updates for the system at the time of writing. All
though I have not been able to test this on another computer, it seems
to be a bug, or other settings preventing persistence on my end. If I
add other columns like "Recency" instead, these for some reason seem to
stay persistent whenever I switch to a different view.

Have anyone else seen this phenomenon? From my view it seems like a bug.
