[Bug 1665698] Re: /etc/qemu-ifup not allowed by apparmor
Thank you so much for confirming that Logan! That kind of reset my sanity on understanding the issue. But I wonder that if one uses cloud archive Ocata he would also get this combo IMO. It would use Ocata and the libvirt 2.5 th you also have - just as you do with your combo. I don't know why the Cloud Team is not seeing this, and I'd like to hear their opinion before releasing a fix. I'm explicitly subscribing some of them to poll their statements. At the same time this does not stop me from preparing and testing a fix myself and with your help. [Bug 1670356] Re: i2c-hid and hid-multitouch drivers wake computer during suspend
That's correct; the screen presumably touches the touchpad when closing the lid. I've been testing by simply suspending and then touching the touchpad to wake the laptop (it doesn't require pressing the touchpad button; simply registering a touch works). As I say, the exception is if the touchpad is touched _during_ the suspend process (then the touchpad doesn't wake the laptop), or if the touchpad is touched after unloading the hid-multitouch or i2c-hid drivers. (I initially tried to resolve the issue by forcing removal of the drivers during the suspend processes, but this would also require that I touch the touchpad during the suspend process.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1670356 Title: i2c-hid and hid-multitouch drivers wake computer during suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1670356/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1665698] Re: /etc/qemu-ifup not allowed by apparmor
So we have: - old openstack: sets script='' - new openstack: sets nothing - old libvirt: passes to qemu, which does nothing on '' - new libvirt: executes script, but can't handle '' - any libvirt: if nothing is set defaults to /etc/qemu-ifup Instead of the rule to allow that to qemu, I'd prefer to backport the libvirt fix. Because essentially '' does not mean "run qemu/ifup" which would be what the apparmor change allows. We want back to '' when set really executing nothing. Well that will at least "allow" it to handle script='' correctly. IMHO newer openstack is broken as setting nothing implies /etc/qemu-ifup which might not be what they wanted. Never the less from the libvirt perspective we want to allow that. But here my brain runs into a knot while trying to prep a patch. In your case Logan, the newer Openstack sets nothing which implies /etc/qemu-ifup. That should be executed by libvirt which should run under the apparmor profile usr.sbin.libvirtd. Since you can "fix" your case by adding to the libvirt-qemu abstraction shouldn't that be qemu executing it in your case. Reading your Deny log again comm="qemu-system-x86". Hmm, could it be that you run the "new" openstack against the "old" libvirt? I see you said "with libvirt and non-openstack bits sourced from cloud-archive", but then I'd have expected the apparmor fail against libvirt - if any. Don't get me wrong we might still want to backport the fix for libvirt, but I want to understand where to fix apparmor rules would be correct. @Logan: - Could you report the output of: $ dpkg -l 'libvirt-bin' 'libvirt-daemon-system' 'qemu-kvm' - You said you run Cloud Archive - might I ask which one at the moment? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1665698 Title: /etc/qemu-ifup not allowed by apparmor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-archive/+bug/1665698/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1664150] Re: [performance] Unity8 rendering hiccups/stutters exactly every 5 seconds in unison with disk activity
User error. And truth is stranger than fiction as always... Unity8 was freezing every 5 seconds because that's the ext3/ext4 journal commit interval. Unity8 was not doing the IO directly, but since it's being bypassed through USC, is very time-sensitive. Fullscreen bypass holds buffers back from the client for the duration of a frame. So the freeze was USC periodically failing to return Unity8 a buffer in time. The problem with USC as shown above was in its Mir compositor thread. I had configured it to use --compositor-report=log, which although it writes very little text, is subject to the ext3/ext4 journaling rules which force a commit/sync every 5 seconds by default. So the delay was USC's compositor thread writing to its log, which only once every 5 seconds is a slow operation. Whenever the hiccup occurred, that held back a bypass buffer from Unity8 a bit too long. To add to the problem, Mir's Mesa-KMS driver does not allow more than one frame to be pre-rendered so as to keep visual lag down. So it sometimes didn't have a fresh U8 frame ready in time and would skip a whole frame. There's no catch-up in the Mir Mesa-KMS driver, although I've coincidentally been thinking about implementing it. But doesn't matter; as soon as I turned off --compositor-report=log the bug was solved. ** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Changed in: unity-system-compositor Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Changed in: unity-system-compositor (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Changed in: unity8 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Changed in: qtmir (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image Milestone: u8c-1 => None -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1664150 Title: [performance] Unity8 rendering hiccups/stutters exactly every 5 seconds in unison with disk activity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1664150/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1671375] Re: package amavisd-new-postfix 1:2.10.1-2ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: problemy z zależnościami - pozostawianie nieskonfigurowanego
Hi thank you for your report., sorry the automated logs do not hold a lot. But in general this type of error mostly is related to a broken setup of amavisd-net or even more likely postfix. On upgrade these services are tried to be restarted, and if they didn't work before the upgrade fails. Could you outline your postfix config that is in place. Also what do the following commands report before the upgrade: $ systemctl status amavis $ systemctl status postfix I'd recommend to look at that config, fix it up and then the upgrade should run smoothly. If it still happens to fail report the output as I mentioned above not only prior, but also after the upgrade. For now this looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu. You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community Since we use this bug tracker to track bugs in Ubuntu, rather than configuration problems, I'm marking this bug as Invalid. This helps us to focus on fixing bugs in Ubuntu. If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New. ** Changed in: amavisd-new (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1671375 Title: package amavisd-new-postfix 1:2.10.1-2ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: problemy z zależnościami - pozostawianie nieskonfigurowanego To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/amavisd-new/+bug/1671375/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1605494] Re: vmxnet3 LRO IPv6 performance issues (stalling TCP)
Hi, having similar issues with 12.04 (with both trusty and precise kernels). Don't see any fixes for the trusty kernel. Tried adding trusty, but launchpad gives an oops when I try to. We have several webservers with IPv6 directly attached to internet. 2 12.04's both running with trusty kernel now and 2 16.04's. 16.04 <-> 16.04 consistently around 110MB/s (gigabit limit) Downloading on 16.04 from the 12.04 machines is horrible. Connections die, huge drops in performance (sub 1MB/s) 12 <-> 12.04 same as above. Please add fix to trusty kernel as well. [Bug 1555904] Re: opal-prd not installed by default on ppc64el systems
Hi Steve, indeed, not all the machines would be concerned, even if the daemon won't be loaded as it already does this check itself, which is why I was not sure to do the check at install time or later by the daemon itself. It's better though to target only the specific configuration. The criteria is the existence of /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/ibm,opal/diagnostics directory. That is an openpower baremetal machine (ibmpower do not have that diagnostic feature accessible from the host as the fsp does the diagnotic work) So yes the fix is to be done somewhere else then but I'm not sure where. Some udeb, tasksel, the installer? Let me know and I can do a patch that you could review. --- Comment From ananth.nara...@in.ibm.com 2017-03-10 04:16 EDT--- (In reply to comment #10) > This is fine for inclusion in 17.04, but to SRU it into 16.04 we would need > more information about why, specifically, this is needed. Is opal-prd > unstable? Are there specific cases where it's known to crash? opal-prd is not unstable and is not known to crash either. We need opal- prd to be running all the time on OPAL based systems for all Processor Runtime Diagnostics for POWER systems barring which, in the event of any hardware failures (Memory UEs, core/nest errors, etc)., the hardware components will not be isolated at the next IPL (reboot), causing the machine to potentially not boot successfully at all. In order to avoid such a scenario, we would: a. Want opal-prd to be installed and started by default on all Distributions running OPAL (Debian/Ubuntu included). https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/skiboot/+bug/1555904 is intended to address this issue. b. [Bug 1671753] [NEW] "NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup" and "page allocation stalls" errors
Public bug reported: My computer running Ubuntu Yakkety with 32 bit 4.8.0-41-generic kernel often locks up. Error messages like this appear in syslog: Mar 10 09:49:22 ReThinkCentre kernel: [47896.075600] NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 23s! [kswapd0:38] In later mainline kernels (4.10.0, or maybe even 4.9.0), the error message changes to this: Mar 4 22:07:04 ReThinkCentre kernel: [ 2815.183424] kthreadd: page allocation stalls for 11600ms, order:1, mode:0x17000c0(GFP_KERNEL_ACCOUNT|__GFP_NOTRACK) I believe the root cause is the same behind the two kinds of error messages, the latter being more specific. One kernel version never shows these messages mixed, they either log "NMI watchdog" or "page allocation stalls", there is no kernel version which logs both. With kernel bisection, I found that the following commit solves the problem in the mainline kernel: 71ab6cfe88dcf9f6e6a65eb85cf2bda20a257682 mm, vmscan: consider eligible zones in get_scan_count However, this patch doesn't easily apply to 4.8.0. I tried to backport it with git cherry-pick, but it run into conflicts. [Bug 1671360] Re: System doesn't boot properly on AMD Ryzen / Gigabyte GA-AB350-gaming-3
I've found a workaround (requires compiling own kernel, tested on 4.11 and r4.11rc1): When configuring kernel (I used make menuconfig) disable following things: Everything under device drivers/gpio support, especially: memory mapped files/amd promontory support (GPIO_AMDPT) and pci gpio expanders / amd 8111 gpio driver (GPIO_AMD8111) but I've turned of everything to make sure nothing is using gpio. device drivers / pin controllers / amd gpio pin control (PINCTRL_AMD) Perhaps only one of them could be really necessary, but I didn't tested that. [Bug 1664203] Re: [SRU] v1 driver does not delete namespace when pool deleted
** Description changed: [Impact] The v1 services.loadbalancer.drivers.haproxy.namespace_driver has a bug in that it deletes the haproxy state directory for a pool when it's vip is deleted. This means that when the pool itself is deleted, its associated namespace is never deleted since the delete is predicated on - the state patch being extant. + the state path being extant. The v1 driver is deprecated as of the Liberty release and was totally removed from the codebase in the Newton release. However, Openstack Kilo and Mitaka are still supported in Ubuntu, the former requiring the v1 driver and the latter still capable of using it so we while upstream will not accept a patch we will still patch the neutron-lbaas-agent Ubuntu package to fix this issue. [Bug 1625846] Re: Xmir -rootless: Firefox menus pop up then close right away
OK, I think that "Freestyle" is the appropriate solution here. And that X11 overrideRedirect windows should equate to Freestyle surfaces which never receive input focus. Mir 0.27/1.0 appears to have a new function for creating freestyle surfaces but I can't find any way to flag that they should not receive keyboard focus (note: I mean keyboard focus only as these still need to receive mouse events). So a correct solution requires more API work in Mir 0.27/1.0 and possibly related WM logic in MirAL to enforce the "never receives keyboard focus" flag if set (see comment #16). ** Changed in: mir Status: Confirmed => Triaged ** Changed in: miral Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1625846 Title: Xmir -rootless: Firefox menus pop up then close right away To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1625846/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1671760] [NEW] Xen HVM guests running linux 4.10 fail to boot on Intel hosts
Public bug reported: Starting with Linux kernel 4.10, the kernel does some sanity checking on the TSC_ADJUST MSR. Xen has implemented some support for that MSR in the hypervisor (Xen 4.3 and later) for HVM guests. But boot and secondary vCPUs are set up inconsistently. This causes the boot of a 4.10 HVM guest to hang early on boot.
