[Bug 1240400] Re: dialer-app crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___pthread_mutex_lock()

2014-02-14 Thread Andreas Pokorny
A fix for that bug would hide the issue here, but we should not crash in
that case.

When the incoming call is accepted another session is created for
another dialer-app which for some reason is not launched. The final
crash happens in unity-mir ApplicationManager::suspendApplication
application_manager.cpp:226 (initiated by the user switching
applications or going back to phone shell/launcher) when it tries to
defocus and suspend the session.

I now try to investigate why the application session is invalid.

[Bug 111000] Re: Keyboard doesn't work within a java applet (Sun Secure Global Destop)

2014-02-14 Thread Ruud van Eeghem
I can confirm this issue. I'm also running ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit. I am
experiencing the same issue with the Oracle Secure Desktop mentioned.
Using Firefox (version 27) and the IcedTea plugin for running applets.

When logging in to the secure deskopt, the external desktop is displayed
however the mouse/keyboard focus is never moved to the desktop window.
At first I had the problem that the window displaying the external
desktop was shown outside the actual dimensions of the active
workspace. My guess was that mouse/keyboard issue was related to the
incorrect display. I checked the Oracle support site for this. Oracle
recommended adding the legacy support for full screen display using the
compiz configuration manager. This solved the display issue by swapping
the window with the remote desktop to full screen.

However the mouse/keyboard is still not responding. Clicking and
swithing back/forward between other applications does not resolve the
issue.

[Bug 1279762] Re: upgrade to 14.04 from 13.10 failed - cinnamon fails to upgrade

2014-02-14 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
For the record, you can find why it fails on cinnamon from the log file
/var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log

At the end you'll see apt tries to find an upgrade path for libclutter and
libcogl and fails

[Bug 1280141] [NEW] Latest chromium upgrade have broken pepperflashplugin detection

2014-02-14 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

With that i386 Trusty installation, i was happily using pepperflashplugin as
the unique flash installed package.
But after i've upgraded to '32' a few days back (main trusty package), flash
was no more detected (or pepper not compatible ?). Reinstalling it did not do
better. So i've needed to install back the 'flashplugin-installer' package to
be able to view flash streaming.

So, Boost 1.55 on amd64 does have errors. However, less than on PPC/64. And no
test running in an infinite loop, though there are several on PPC/64.

[Bug 319146] Re: When a release reaches End-of-Life, update manager should show EoL status and provide a link with working procedures and more information.

2014-02-14 Thread ifireball
I just encountered another instance of this bug - I got notified a few days ago
that my releases (12.4) is EOLed, ant was offered to upgrade, since I couldn't
attent the upgrade at that time, I chose to upgrade later and closed the update
manager window.
Now that I'm trying to upgrade I get an "Upgrade the 12.10 release" that
essentially does nothing. Furtunately I know how to upgrade from the command
line, so I'm only annoyed. but If I was a novice user I would be compleatly
stuck.

[Bug 1280147] [NEW] As an occasional synaptic user I want the "Find" dialog to default to "Look in: Description and Name" at program start, to be able to find a package I look for without irritation.

2014-02-14 Thread Karsten W. Rohrbach
Public bug reported:

Not a bug, but usability.

Most of the time I use apt-get for package management.
Sometimes I use synaptic, especially when looking for packages, optional
installs, desccriptions, screenshots, etc.
I use the find dialog (Ctrl-F) very often.

The find dialog saves the last used value of "Look in:" between sessions.
This is an annoyance, causing irritation very often.
It would be much more usable if the "Look in:" field would be initialized to
"Description and Name" once, at program start.

** Affects: synaptic (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Summary changed:

- As an occasional synaptic user I want the "Find" dialog to default to "Look
in: Description and Name", to be less irritated when looking for packages and
apparently not finding them, then seeing that the dialog was set to "look in:
Provided Packages" last time I used the program.
+ As an occasional synaptic user I want the "Find" dialog to default to "Look
in: Description and Name", to be able to find a package I look for without
irritation.

[Bug 369539] Re: Unreasonably high memory usage

2014-02-14 Thread Igor Tarasov
Okay, way to reproduce:

Ubuntu Precise x64.
Install Radio Tray.
Install Notifications Indicator (package indicator-notifications from
ppa:jconti/recent-notifications).

Start listening to some radio, that updates track info for every tune
played. See how indicator-applet-complete memory usage grows over time.

[Bug 1280149] [NEW] Add Bacula fork Bareos to repository

2014-02-14 Thread André Bauer
Public bug reported:

Last new Bacula version is 1 year old now. Development seems kind of
dead: http://www.bacula.org/git/cgit.cgi/bacula/

Most of the devlopers switched to Bareos ( https://www.bareos.org/en/ ).
Bareos is a 100% open source fork of the backup project from bacula.org.
The fork is in development since late 2010, it has a lot of new
features. The source has been published on github, licensed AGPLv3.

Bareos can be used as a drop in replacement of Bacula.

Ubuntu packages for Ubuntu 12.04 are availabnle @
http://download.bareos.org/bareos/release/latest/xUbuntu_12.04/
Should not be a big issue to make some for newer Ubuntu releases to...

[Bug 1229591] Re: 8086:0116 [Dell Inspiron 14z (N411z)] Display brightness keys don't generate evdev events after saucy upgrade

2014-02-14 Thread madvinegar
Hi. Thanx for your reply.
Since I have exactly the same laptop with the same GPU (id 8086:0116) would it
be better just to keep updating this bug report and provide additional info?
(rather than opening a new bug report?)
I could provide additional info by running:

apport-collect -p linux #1229591

For your info I am using for the moment the ubuntu repository kernel 3.13.0-8.
Please let me know if you agree.

[Bug 1280183] [NEW] Package missing /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1, breaks apt-get etc.

2014-02-14 Thread Tom Worley
Public bug reported:

The latest package available on testing (4.9-20140213-0ubuntu1) is missing the
/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1 file.
This causes apt-get to break immediately after apt-get upgrading.
The package is unusually small:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1286 Feb 14 09:38
/var/cache/apt/archives/libgcc1_1%3a4.9-20140213-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb
at only just over 1KB
The version from packages.ubuntu.com for testing shows as 4.8.2 still,
downloading this and dpkg-i'ing the package fixes the issue (until you apt-get
update/upgrade again).
The old version of the file (which is 30+ times larger):
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 37520 Feb 12 02:38 libgcc1_4.8.2-15ubuntu3_amd64.deb

[Bug 1074426] Re: custom Keyboard shortcuts reset every time Ubuntu updates

Same problem here. Every time I reboot my adjustments to the keyboard

This basically means that the Keyboard shortcuts dialog is unusable. I'd
say, either fix it or remove the dialog from Ubuntu completely so it
can't fool any users anymore into the illusion that they can adjust
their own keyboard shortcuts.

[Bug 1242992] Re: Unable to autolaunch a dbus-daemon without a $DISPLAY for X11

2014-02-14 Thread Joe Hakim Rahme
I just hit this bug (vagrant + ubuntu saucy + first devstack install on
this VM). Removing python-keyring didn't solve the problem. I
reinstalled it and set its backend to plaintext files ([as suggested
here][1]) and that workaround seems to work.

[Bug 1280215] [NEW] Make ipa-client-join work and fulfil my requirements

2014-02-14 Thread dy...@techtangents.com
Public bug reported:

>From a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10, I'd like the following to happen:

- ipa-client-install actually works
- options to configure sudo and public key auth

I'll go through this in detail. Hostnames and domain names changed to protect
the innocent.

# apt-get install freeipa-client

Item #1 (bug): IPA client already configured. Package installer shouldn't to
that.

# ipa-client-install
IPA client is already configured on this system.
If you want to reinstall the IPA client, uninstall it first using
'ipa-client-install --uninstall'.

Workaround: rm /etc/ipa/default.conf

Item #2 (bug/feature request): ipa-client-install should configure chronyd

# ipa-client-install
WARNING: ntpd time&date synchronization service will not be configured as
conflicting service (chronyd) is enabled
Use --force-ntpd option to disable it and force configuration of ntpd

Item #3 (bug): ipa-client-install --no-ntp still complains about NTP

# ipa-client-install --no-ntp
Discovery was successful!
Hostname: myhostname.mydomain.com

Item #4 (bug): Client install fails and also fails to rollback.

Item #5 (bug): auth doesn't work until after reboot

It would be nice if the installer told me to reboot.

Item #6 (bug): --mkhomedir flag doesn't work

echo 'sessionrequired pam_mkhomedir.so' >> /etc/pam.d/common-session

Item #7 (bug): uninstall doesn't work

Putting the workarounds together, I end up with this script:

certutil -N --empty-password -d /etc/pki/nssdb &&
mkdir -p /var/run/ipa &&

ipa-client-install --no-ntp --no-dns-sshfp --mkhomedir --force-join &&
echo 'sessionrequired   pam_mkhomedir.so' >> /etc/pam.d/common-session &&
reboot

And after that I can login with my domain user. Hooray!

But, not all is quite hunky-dory.

Firstly.

Item #8 (feature request): Option to enable sudo.

Something like --sudo-group=sudoers

Manual process:

Edit /etc/sssd.conf

Add this to the [domain/mydomain.com] section:

ldap_sudo_search_base = ou=sudoers,dc=mydomain,dc=com
ldap_sasl_mech = GSSAPI
ldap_sasl_authid = host/myhostname.mydomain.com

[Bug 1280219] [NEW] AWS Marketplace Ubuntu AMI is not compatible with m3.large instances

2014-02-14 Thread Adrien K
Public bug reported:

Hi,

AWS has recently released 2 types of instances : m3.medium and m3.large,
which seem to be the "new generation" after m1.medium and m1.large. [1]

We wanted to upgrade our instance, based on a AWS Marketplace Ubuntu
Server 10.04 LTS [2], from m1.large to m3.large, but the following error
occured:

> "The instance configuration for this AWS Marketplace product is not
> supported. Please see
> http://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp?sku=drdu2rihnd8bagnjz0tfmp4mr for
> more information about supported instance types, regions, and
> operating systems."

Indeed, the AWS marketplace listing for Ubuntu 10.04, and later, don't
allow the new m3.large instance types.

If there is no technical limitation, how could we get this listing
updated ?

Regards,

[Bug 1280183] Re: Package missing /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1, breaks apt-get etc.

2014-02-14 Thread Tom Worley
Just for anyone who needs an emergency fix:

wget
http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gcc-4.8/libgcc1_4.8.2-15ubuntu3_amd64.deb
dpkg -i libgcc1_4.8.2-15ubuntu3_amd64.deb

Hope that helps.

[Bug 1280226] [NEW] GIMP hangs when renaming a layer with capital letters using shift key

2014-02-14 Thread Mitch Curtis
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

- Open GIMP
- Create a new image
- Try to rename the layer to something containing a capital letter using the
shift key

GNU Image Manipulation Program version 2.6.12

using GEGL version 0.0.22 (compiled against version 0.0.22)
using GLib version 2.32.3 (compiled against version 2.32.1)
using GTK+ version 2.24.10 (compiled against version 2.24.10)
using Pango version 1.30.0 (compiled against version 1.30.0)
using Fontconfig version 2.8.0 (compiled against version 2.8.0)

I updated to 2.8 (using these instructions:
http://www.maketecheasier.com/upgrade-to-gimp-2-8-in-ubuntu), but the problem
exists there as well.

GNU Image Manipulation Program version 2.8.10
git-describe: GIMP_2_8_8-55-g9bb7eb0

using GEGL version 0.2.1 (compiled against version 0.2.1)
using GLib version 2.32.3 (compiled against version 2.32.4)
using GdkPixbuf version 2.26.1 (compiled against version 2.26.1)
using GTK+ version 2.24.10 (compiled against version 2.24.10)
using Pango version 1.30.0 (compiled against version 1.30.0)
using Fontconfig version 2.8.0 (compiled against version 2.8.0)
using Cairo version 1.10.2 (compiled against version 1.10.2)

I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit:

Description:Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS
