[Bug 1158462] Re: Microsoft Wedge Touch Mouse losing connection

So, I think the bluetooth applet should pair devices like mouses with
PIN automatically to avoid such problems...

[Bug 1158462] Re: Microsoft Wedge Touch Mouse losing connection

2013-06-17 Thread Anton Anikin
Yes, it works fine but only if I pair the mouse with PIN with
blueman-manager.
If I add the mouse with standard gnome bluetooth applet - it not provide
ability to input PIN and the mouse added but not paired in this case.

The above two devices are attached on USB 2.0 bus, and they have
been recognized well, don't they?

There are interrupts from two USB 2.0 buses, and you may try 'rmmod ath9k'
to see if new devices can be recognized on usb3.

Or if you can build kernel by yourself, you can enable 'CONFIG_USB_DEBUG'
& 'CONFIG_DEBUG_DRIVER' and post out 'dmesg' info. If you can't, I'd like to
build one kernel with these debug options for your test.

@ Christopher, yes tried this, but 3.10 isn't running fine with 13.04 libs,

Takes a little time, first have to make a disk-dump, for restore.

[Bug 1191680] [NEW] nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf didn't update when changing network

2013-06-17 Thread northar
Public bug reported:

When changeing network and connecting to a new router,(sitecom cfe88) i
couldn't surf. Surfing worked in windows in my dual boot, and in another
lan a home, so i knew it "should" work. Everything seemed ok in nw-
manager - connected fine, got an ip and so on - and i had turned off
ipv6 just to be sure. Then i had a look at /etc/resolv.conf - and there
it was - it had one nameserver entry, and it was the one from my
homenetwork - wtf. I changed that manually to the router i was
connecting to - and it worked.

Now, why didn't it update this by itself when switching networks. A less
techical user would be stuck.

Yes, it's internal hardware(bluetooth module and uvc camera). They are
working.

on usb3.

I've tried that. But it doesn't help. I see, that there are interrupts
on ehci_hcd:usb3 during bluetooth activity. I also see, that numers in
line ehci_hcd:usb4 are not changing at all.

[Bug 1191329] Re: package php5-common 5.4.9-4ubuntu2.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

2013-06-17 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for your report.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu, so I'm marking this bug as Invalid.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug rather than a problem specific to
your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

The patch does more than it says; it reformats and modifies
HD-Audio-Models.txt. If it's intended to be merged to 3.10 kernel,
please make things as minimal as possible, then prepare another patch
for cleaning up the whole document.

Interestingly, I just noticed that if I kill all signonpluginprocess
instances, and then select "available" from Empathy's IM status
dropdown, it logs in successfully.

[Bug 1191688] [NEW] vmalloc failure on Lenovo W520 with Ubuntu 13.04 32b

2013-06-17 Thread osmeest
Public bug reported:

Booting Ubuntu 13.04 32bit on a Lenovo W520, I get no wifi at startup.
Network manager shows only Wired, Broadband and VPN.

In dmesg, I see multiple instances of "vmalloc allocation failure".
See attached dmesg-w520-3.8.0-25-generic.txt

One of them happens at loading of iwlwifi (which may explain the lack of
wifi).

The only workaround I found was to stick with the 12.10 kernel (3.5).

Given Linus's latest "don't send me non-critical stuff" comment [1], I
was expecting you to defer this patch to 3.11 anyway. If you can merge
the first patch (the one that adds three headset IDs) to 3.10, that
would be appreciated though.

Also, I'm not sure how to split this patch, all reformat/modifications
are just because of the documentation of the added models.

The addition of IDs are real fixes, so they should go to 3.10.

Then the only question is how annoying for you if the additional model
string would be missing. If it doesn't matter, I can postpone it, of
course.

Simply add three lines to HD-Audio-Models.txt together with three
lines addition to patch_realtek.c. Total six lines. Don't be
bothered by the aligned tabs.

[Bug 1191693] [NEW] After pasting a link, cursor in compose entry box jumps to the end of the text after every keystroke

2013-06-17 Thread Frederik Elwert
Public bug reported:

After pasting a link into the “compose” entry box, when trying to add
text before the link, the cursor jumps to the end of the text after
every keytroke. Thus, only one character is inserted at the desired
position, while the rest is appended at the end.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Click on “Post”.
2. Add some text into the “Compose” box.
3. Paste a link, which will be shortened automatically.
4. Move the cursor in front of the link.
5. Type some text.

What I expected:

The text I type should be inserted at the cursor position between my
original text and the link.

What happens:

The first character I typed is inserted at the correct position, then
the cursor jumps to the end of the entry, after the link, and all
following keystrokes get appended at the end of the entry.

[Bug 1134022] Re: menu-cached crashed on Places (Applications, any sub-folder) navigation in pcmanfm

2013-06-17 Thread Fane
I've figured a workaround for this problem.

I've just replaced the crashing binary file [/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
/libmenu-cache2/libexec/menu-cached] from 13.04 with the similar working
binary file from 12.10 - [/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libmenu-
cache1/libexec/menu-cached].

This is kind of "dirty" but it works ok, no problems so far.

As I have my own custom net-inst LXDE builds for both 12.10 and 13.04
this was easy for me to do. For other people it might be necessary to
get the corresponding Lubuntu 12.10 CD and get the replacement file from
there.

Note: the bug was there at release time and it still present today.

[Bug 1062256] Re: xtables-addons-dkms 1.42-2: xtables-addons kernel module failed to build

2013-06-17 Thread Brian Burch
I was only partly correct in post #5. The circumvention allowed module-
assistant to successfully build xtables-addons, so that was good news.
Unfortunately, when I rebooted my system there was another crash - this
time with xt-ACCOUNT.c. Following the advice in one of the many bug
reports on this subject, I also commented that line in mconfig (both
copies), but the m-a build failed again, saying it could not find
xtables and recommended I ran m-a -f get. That seemed to reinstall the
package, but it would not build properly... because of xt_RAWNAT again!

So I edited both copies of mconfig, successfully ran module-assistant,
rebooted to another crash. It happens every time I reboot.

When I have rebooted, after the inevitable crash, I can see:
/usr/src/modules/xtables-addons/mconfig still contains my comments.
/usr/src/xtables-addons-1.42/mconfig has lost my comments and has been restored
to the distribution state.
/usr/src/ contains xtables-addons.tar.bz2 and
xtables-addons-modules-3.5.0-34-lowlatency_1.42-2_i386.deb

dpkg --list xtables-addons-dkms and xtables-addons-common both show
status of "ii", so I do not understand why a reboot causes the module to
be rebuilt and fail.

I tried apt-get remove xtables-addons-dkms, then install, then edited
both mconfigs, but that just takes me round the loop again. It feels
like groundhog day.

Would life get better for me if I downloaded the source and built my own
debs, or would I just waste more time?

in /usr/share/gnome-bluetooth/pin-code-database.xml
file that is part of gnome-bluetooth package there is NULL value for PIN for
all mouses and some exception for Apple mouses with PIN codes.
So, if I add the Microsoft Wedge mouse oui in this file with 000 PIN code:

diff /usr/share/gnome-bluetooth/pin-code-database.xml
/usr/share/gnome-bluetooth/pin-code-database.xml.bak
71,73d70
<
<
<

everything works fine after that - mouse paired with bluetooth applet
after adding automatically and everything works.

It would be helpful to have the models in 3.10 but not an absolute
requirement.

Ok, I've now splitted that patch into two and just sent the result.

If we do not manage to fix this for the Compiz 0.9.10 release, we should
not include it at all, as it is completely useless in it's current state

[Bug 1185400] [NEW] USC won't open local files with commas in the filenames

2013-06-17 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

With Ubuntu Software Center 5.6.0 (Ubuntu 13.04)

NOTE:
This bug first manifested itself when I found myself unable to install from
gvfs (nautilus mounted) CIFS shares. This could possibly (probably?) be due to
an USC identifying legal dir/file name characters as illegal, or interpreting
the dir/filename as a search request rather than as a file location

To replicate this bug:

I have a CIFS server named "oldman", a share called "completed". When I
browse to this share in nautilus it creates the GVFS mount as:
"/var/run/user/michael/gvfs/smb-share:server=oldman,share=completed/"

When I open the .deb file (double click in Nautilus) i get the following error:
'No items match
"/var/run/user/michael/gvfs/smb-share:server=oldman,share=completed/uplink-linux-1.6.0-2-amd64-1344894496.deb"
Suggestions:
- Check that your spelling is correct. Did you mean: '

* can't be buggered typing the whole thing

See first error image (attached to this post). Note that the file
location is in the top right of the image in the search box. This is the
full valid file location/name. If I copy and paste the contents of the
search box into a terminal (it is not nautilus mangling it):

"michael@neffo:~$ ls -l
/var/run/user/michael/gvfs/smb-share:server=oldman,share=completed/uplink-linux-1.6.0-2-amd64-1344894496.deb
-rwx-- 1 michael michael 21907452 May 29 21:34
/var/run/user/michael/gvfs/smb-share:server=oldman,share=completed/uplink-linux-1.6.0-2-amd64-1344894496.deb
michael@neffo:~$ "

If I copy the .deb file to the local disk (~/Downloads), it allows me to
install as expected (see a second post for an image). This is not a file
permissions issue either:

"michael@neffo:~$ ls -l ~/Downloads/uplink-linux-1.6.0-2-amd64-1344894496.deb
-rwx-- 1 michael michael 21907452 May 29 21:34
/home/michael/Downloads/uplink-linux-1.6.0-2-amd64-1344894496.deb
michael@neffo:~$"

Renaming the local file as "bleh=uplink-
linux-1.6.0-2-amd64-1344894496.deb" and "bleh:uplink-
linux-1.6.0-2-amd64-1344894496.deb" did not produce the bug. Renaming
the file with a comma as "bleh,uplink-
linux-1.6.0-2-amd64-1344894496.deb" produced the bug as seen in this
post. It seems as though the comma is the problem character.

[Bug 1186751] Re: Don't hard-depend on humanity-icon-theme

2013-06-17 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
The category/subcategory icons are USC-specific, so I'd be surprised if
gnome-icon-theme ever included them.

It might make more sense to move them inside the USC codebase, so USC
can use them as a last-ditch fallback whenever the current theme chain
doesn't provide them.

[Bug 1162924] Re: bug disabling Xen guest interface

2013-06-17 Thread Stefan Bader
It still sounds like being caused by the same changes. Although having
the guest and dom0 running the same kernel version should not cause it.
At least the problem with different definitions/allowance of number of
frags should get resolved by the following patch (IIRC there were
actually some other changes to netback/netfront queued along).

Author: Wei Liu
Date: Mon Apr 22 02:20:42 2013 +

xen-netback: coalesce slots in TX path and fix regressions

commit 2810e5b9a7731ca5fce22bfbe12c96e16ac44b6f upstream.

The change above was queued upstream for 3.2.47. This week starts a new
update cycle, so end of this week, or early next week, there should be
new kernels available in the proposed pocket to try. I would wait for
test results using those before looking further into details.

USC doesn't use the Opinion status, and even if it did, it wouldn't

PCI: acpiphp: Convert acpiphp to be builtin only, not modular

Convert acpiphp to be builtin only, with no module option.

Previously, when HOTPLUG_PCI_ACPI=m, users could disable acpiphp by
removing the module or preventing it from loading. That can't be done
if acpiphp is builtin statically, so this adds an "acpiphp.disable"
kernel parameter. If a user needs to use this parameter, it is a bug,
and we want to hear about it.

[Bug 796188] Re: Feature Request: Tool: Save screenshot of area to clipboard

2013-06-17 Thread bf
Thank you all for your feedback.

Sebastien Bacher: I just found out that selective screenshots can be
taken via the native screenshot application in Ubuntu, therefore marking
this bug as invalid is acceptable and I can see your reasons for this.

I filed this feature request about two years ago while using Ubuntu
11.04 and I am quite sure that in the last years this feature was not
implemented in the native screenshot application, which made me install
and use "shutter".

2013-06-17 Thread Marcos Henrique Esteves Barbosa
Public bug reported:

The Microsoft Wedge Tech Mouse needs PIN set to "", but by default PINs for
mouses is set to "NULL". The bugfix is add a line in the file
/usr/share/gnome-bluetooth/pin-code-database.xml for set correct PIN.
file that is part of gnome-bluetooth package there is NULL value for PIN for
all mouses and some exception for Apple mouses with PIN codes. Everything
works fine after that - mouse paired with bluetooth applet after adding
automatically and everything works.
