[Bug 627202] Re: bzr crashed with ValueError in _add_index()

2010-08-31 Thread Andrew Bennetts
This appears to be due to the bzr-search plugin. A workaround would be
to set BZR_DISABLE_PLUGINS=search in your environment.

Please sync harden-doc 3.13.3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

Please sync this version as it fixes ftbfs with several packaging
improvements

Changelog since current maverick version 3.13.2:

harden-doc (3.13.3) unstable; urgency=high

  * Fix RC-bug (FTBFS) due to a bug in debiandoc-sgml generation of the TeX
for French by working around it and removing the tags in the section header
of the French documentation. (Closes:#571429)
  * Replace dependency with gs-gpl | gs-eps to ghostscript since the
previous packages are obsolete (Closes: #575656)
  * Remove CVS subdirs from the local copy of the sources and use SVN
instead.
  * Update debian/control to add references to the location of the SVN
sources at Alioth.

[Bug 284730] Re: Printing from KDE4 apps cuts off, non-KDE apps print fine

2010-08-31 Thread Thomas Ohms
I also can confirm this bug. Only that I have a bit different configuration,
but issue's same:
I have a PDF Printer running and modified its corresponding ppd file for
default margins in ImageableArea.
If printing from let's say kate directly margins are ignored. But if I go into
properties dialog before printing I can see my margins set. I than don't change
anything and just click "OK". Now margins are set correctly.
Seems KDE apps ignoring margins by default or printer dialog starts with a
default margin of 0?!

[Bug 604635] Re: Have default settings be energy star 5.0 compliant

2010-08-31 Thread Jonathan Matthew
The Rhythmbox plugin works like it currently does because the two
relevant inhibit flags that gnome-session provides are 'suspend' and
'idle'. 'Suspend' (as far as I know) inhibits all suspend operations,
including user-initiated ones such as closing the laptop lid. WIth the
older version of the plugin, using the gnome-power-manager dbus
interface, we had reports of users almost frying their laptops because
they assumed closing the lid would cause it to suspend, but the
Rhythmbox plugin inhibited it, so placing it in an enclosed space caused
it to overheat.

'Idle' only inhibits events that occur due to the machine being idle,
which unfortunately for us includes screensaver and DPMS standby as well
as suspending the machine. I figured this was the safer choice.

If there was an 'idle suspend' inhibit flag I'd certainly switch to it,
but I don't seem to have done anything about asking for one yet..

Suspend works perfectly on T500 with 9.10 all kernels up to 2.6.34.6. It
seems to be broken for Maverik 2.6.35 kernels. Works once or twice, but
suspend hangs later and the notebook is frozen.

[Bug 627275] [NEW] Suspend to RAM broken with 2.6.35 kernels on T500

2010-08-31 Thread ReneS
Public bug reported:

I tried the latest Maverick 2.6.35 kernels for regression testing on my
Lenovo Thinkpad T500 with Ubuntu 9.10. All kernels including 2.6.35.4
show a suspend to RAM problem. The system simply freezes when
suspending. Screen is still on, disk off, cpu fan off, but the moon
still flashes. There is no way out besides a hard power down.

I attached to suspend logs from a success with 2.6.35.4 and a failure
with 2.6.35.4. Suspend seems to work fine one or two times, but when
doing it for the third time, the machines freezes.

No other log contains any information because some of the suspend
information seems to be written after waking the machine up and
therefore do not make it into the log when a hard restart is necessary.

This is from the kernel log, when the machine suspends correctly (but
writes some of the log after waking up).

Well, you could put these two lines in /etc/rc.local:

modprobe -r psmouse || true
insmod /path/to/hacked/psmouse.ko || echo 'Failed to load hacked psmouse.ko,
probably needs recompiling.'

Haven't tested it, though. I'll rather wait till the fixes are
incorporated into the default kernel. You'll need to be aware when
kernel [ABI] upgrades happen. This approach will fail in that scenario
(if new kernel version requires module recompile).

I tried the nouveau drivers in Lucid. They fail to display anything at all, so
it not a valid alternative for my graphics card at the moment. It just returned

Is it worth starting a new bug report for the nouveau driver?

also, I see in the git that you reverted the patch the makes this driver static.

Perhaps slightly better is to fallback to the regular psmouse module, if
the other one fails to load:

modprobe -r psmouse || true
insmod /path/to/hacked/psmouse.ko || { echo 'Failed to load hacked psmouse.ko,
falling back to standard.'; modprobe psmouse; true; }

[Bug 192643] Re: dnsmasq with enable-dbus doesn't work properly with NetworkManager

2010-08-31 Thread Jasonbrisbane
Hello,

Actually it appears that network-manager creates its own dnsmasq fomr the
dnsmasq-base package.
It ignore any and all settings in dnsmasq as the conf file is only set and
included in the dnsmasq package (not the base).

It is called and appear with ONLY command line settings.

It appears as if there is no checking to see if the configuration file
exists and if it exists to attach it instead of the default command line
arguments.

Shouldnt this have been tested before release?

It would have been nice to confirm if dnsmasq was called correctly. It
would solve this and my issues (where the dhcp range in dnsmasq is not
what I want - I want to specify my own dhcp range and settings but these
are ignored as dnsmasq.conf is not checked for and called.

[Bug 50837] Re: "Mark All Upgrades" removes all previous markings

2010-08-31 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Steven, if that is a bug, it is not the bug described in this bug
report.

** Description changed:

+
  1. Mark something for complete removal. (For the purposes of reproducing this
bug, you may want to install something you don't care about, so you can try
uninstalling it. In this case, I was uninstalling 3dchess, gnome-chess,
gnuchess, etc.)
  2. Decide you also want to install any upgrades, so click "Reload", then
(when it's finished) "Mark All Upgrades".

  What should happen:
  * The upgrades are marked.

  What actually happens:
  * The upgrades are marked. (Today there happened to be none.)
  * The uninstallation you wanted is cleared.

[Bug 627287] [NEW] Rewrites /etc/cups/printers.conf every night

2010-08-31 Thread era
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cups

In order to get Kerberos authentication to work for the Windows/Samba
printer on my network, I wanted to comment out the AuthInfoRequired line
in my printers.conf. However, it turns out that this file gets
rewritten periodically; the time stamp suggests this is caused by
/etc/logrotate.d/cups

The effect is that the printer driver prompts for my user name and
password every time I try to print a document. This is mildly annoying
(especially because my local user name is different from what I need in
the authentication dialog) but acceptable; also, an alternative
workaround would be to hard-code my user name and password in the device
URI.

one reason to disable swap file generation beyond the kernel issues was
that i wanted us to find a better place and name for the file, i'm

[Bug 587388] Re: 0x103c360b Conexant CX20583 (Pebble HSF) Internal mic not functional

2010-08-31 Thread David Henningsson
NoOp, thanks for the report. I've made a first version of the patch for
you. For this test, you should first make sure that the audio drivers
from ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev is *not* installed, and that no model is
selected. Then download and install
http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa-intel-hda-update-diwic-
hp-g60-dkms_1.0.23_all.deb (make sure it installs without errors), and
reboot.

If everything works:
* speakers should auto-mute when hp is plugged in
* auto-switch to external mic when plugged in (internal mic should work
otherwise), i e no manual mic selection
* you won't have any SPDIF anymore, since it is not physically present.

Can you see if this is working for you, and regardless of which, post an
alsa-info with this new patch enabled. Thanks!

[Bug 627291] [NEW] liblogthread-dev is missing pkg-config file

2010-08-31 Thread Florian Haas
Public bug reported:

liblogthread-dev should contain a pkg-config description,
/usr/lib/pkgconfig/liblogthread.pc. The upstream Debian package, version

[Bug 627073] Re: software-center gives ROUND_CEiLiNG error

2010-08-31 Thread Olivier Tilloy
This issue is similar to bug #581207 (see the discussion there for details),
and is a known problem in python itself.
As remarked and suggested in comments #15 and #16 there, a cheap workaround is
to explicitly `import decimal` before setting the locale, at startup, even
though we don't need it directly.

[Bug 584997] Re: TypeError in python wrapper, caused by swig change

2010-08-31 Thread Mark Ellis
This regression makes the opensync python plugin virtually unusable. Any
sync that has modifications originating in a python based opensync
plugin will result in a TypeError exception and a premature end to the
sync. At this point any sync with this sync group becomes impossible.

The problem will not be addressed upstream because development on the
0.2x branch has ended in favour of the, as yet not release ready, 0.3x
branch. Fixes to the 0.2x branch will be required at distribution level
until 0.3x/0.40 is ready for release. The above patch is suitable in
this case.

TEST CASE:
Using a Windows Mobile device and the synce packages, create an opensync sync
group containing the synce-opensync-plugin and another opensync plugin, eg. the
evolution plugin
$ msynctool --addgroup test
$ msynctool --addmember test evo2-sync
$ msynctool --addmember synce-opensync-plugin
$ msynctool --configure test 1
$ synce-create-partnership test Contacts

Create a new contact on either side, and perform a sync.

$ msynctool --sync test

Modify the contact on the device (the plugin that uses the python
wrapper, modifications from the other side work ok), and run another
sync.

$ msynctool --sync test

This will fail with a TypeError.
