[Bug 570061] [NEW] Lucid gnome runs 'startup-applications' out of phase for remapping keyboard
Public bug reported: Hey all, Gnome offers a way to startup applications for a user "System" > "Startup Applications". I have been using that for about a decade to remap the keyboard, exchanging the "Caps Lock" and "Backspace" keys. In Lucid, this does not work during 'auto-login' at startup, but if I log out and then log back in, it works correctly. It seems the new rapid starting strategy does not take this case into consideration. For info, the startup script is: eratosthenes:~> cat ConfigFiles/keyset.sh xmodmap -e "clear Lock" xmodmap -e "keycode 66 = BackSpace" xmodmap -e "keycode 22 = Caps_Lock" xmodmap -e "add Lock = Caps_Lock" As I understand, this is probably not how the new X needs to be manipulated but it has been working and works if I logout then login so it seems mostly an issue in the ordering of scripts which affect X. cheers, adrian eratosthenes:~> lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Release:10.04 (updated on April 26th 2010, EST 9:00AM) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Lucid gnome runs 'startup-applications' out of phase for remapping keyboard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570061 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The user is able to create and delete files on the first hard drive, /dev/sdc, but additional hard drives have root as the owner and group, with the user unable to make any changes to the filesystem. This was verified with manual partitioning creating the necessary, missing directories on /dev/sdc6, and again by creating the file structure manually before installing. The expected functionality would be for the user to be able to have rwx access for any folders under their own personal directory, unless these were specifically chown and / or chgrp to root. $ cat /etc/fstab # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # Use 'blkid -o value -s UUID' to print the universally unique identifier # for a device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name # devices that works even if disks are added and removed. [Bug 570064] [NEW] switching between user accounts freezes the system
Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 RC on my EeePC 1000H, and I'm having this issue when I have two user accounts logged in and I'm currently using one of them. [Bug 522818] Re: flashplugin-installer: local downloaded package not found
The problem appears to be an inconsistency between the config file and the postinst. I'm unsure what the intended behavior is, but the config file checks for the filename and sha256sum of the upstream tarball from adobe which is install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz" If that's not found, then it complains that it can't find the upstream tarball. However, the postinst proceeds assuming that the file you downloaded is the one from archive.canonical.com, which is adobe- flashplugin_10.0.45.2.orig.tar.gz and has a different checksum. In fact, it appears that the only way to fool it is to download both those files into /var/cache/flashplugin-nonfree. I can easily write a patch to make the control file expect the file from archive.canonical rather than the upstream tarball. To make the postinst deal with the upstream tarball rather than the canonical package would be a bit more tricky. It would be nice to have confirmation from the package maintainer what the expected behavior is supposed to be. ** Tags added: glucid -- flashplugin-installer: local downloaded package not found https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/522818 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Could you test this with a Live CD to see if the problem still occurs in the live session? You may want to test with the latest development release, Lucid Lynx, since it is due for release this week. You can get the file here: http://releases.ubuntu.com/releases/10.04/ This will give us a better idea if it's Ubuntu causing the issue, or something unique to the installed version currently on your computer. [Bug 569900] Re: mount: mounting /dev/md0 on /root/ failed: Invalid argument
Your probably hitting several bugs. I have also seen some differences in the geometry of virtual drives (at least I tent to size them to some human friendly number). I have seen some "unused space" things and (c)fdisk complaining. IIRC the most usefull way with md's partitionable array feature is to use the entire disk ("sdX") as members. Then you can partition the md device, and by this partition all mirror devices at the same time. If you create the array from one member + "missing" the partition table on the disk gets used for the raid. Mdadm will create only a configurable number of device nodes for partitions though. Does blkid detect sdX wrongly as raid? mdadm --incremental defaults to set up arrays with partitionable device nodes if auto= is not defined otherwise in mdadm.conf. Not a bad idea in general, but mdadm is only able to do so during initramfs. (map file is missing later). Also devices are not automatically removed from the array and block readdition by incremental. See Bug #495370. Bug #551719 enabled kernel raid autodetection disturbs udev/mdadm (initramfs & later) -- mount: mounting /dev/md0 on /root/ failed: Invalid argument https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569900 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
