[Bug 537168] [NEW] [lucid] add support for Marvel 0x8431 (88E8059)

2010-03-11 Thread spaetz
Public bug reported:

New netbooks (eg. the Hewlett Packard 5102) have a Marvell ethernet card
(0x11AB:0x8431). Support for this card went into 2.6.33 (in the sky2 driver),
but not in 2.6.31. The patch to support it has been taken into the Suse kernel
and works fine there. Given that the 2.6.31 kernel is going to be used for
quite some time, it would be great to also support this device and take the
Suse patch (which is really just 3 kernel upstream patches).
The patches are here:
http://gitorious.org/opensuse/kernel-source/commit/68c33163d0e1e7bf44cf0bb4c6b8497e944d7886

I am going to send a mail to the kernel list to facilitate some
discussion, thanks in advance.

[Bug 521318] Re: "broadcast accounts..." does nothing unless gwibber is installed

2010-03-11 Thread Anand Kumria
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 520932 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520932

Disagree with duplicate status.

That bug is talking about what to do at runtime.

Nothing prevents a user from removing 'gwibber' from their system.

My bug is related to the default dependancy suggestion.

[Bug 435874] Re: keeps rewriting /etc/resolv.conf

2010-03-11 Thread idistech
Very similar symptoms...

when using a 3g card...worked great before ( 9.04 ), since upgrade, I
seem to have a 1 in 4 chance of having a nameserver entry in
/etc/resolv.conf...

so..
->machine suspended or re connecting after closing connection
->connect ...
-> successful connection ( Connection details all look good )
-> /etc/resolv.conf has one line ( "# Generated by NetworkManager" ), and no
nameservers..

Less likely to do it from a cold boot/start
-> drop and reconnect the line will give an entry after 3/4 attempts

[Bug 105736] Re: mutt - TLS packet with unexpected length

2010-03-11 Thread David Whiting
I have just started getting this (since yesterday, 2010-03-10). I have
been using mutt to connect to a microsoft exchange server via secure
imap for about a year without a problem and now this has suddenly
started. I lose mutt about every 5 mins. As with Marco this means I can
no longer use mutt. I have checked with the admin who runs the exchange
server and he says that he has not changed anything on the server side.

[Bug 537169] [NEW] X hangs on startup

2010-03-11 Thread Kevin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

When KMS is on, Plymouth appears, then disappears. X then appears to
start, and then hangs with either a black screen, or a purple screen.
The keyboard usually appears to be working, (caps lock light can turn on
and off) however it will not switch to a VT. Looking through the logs,
this is what appears in the kernel messages when the hang happens:

Same behavior here as #8 on an nVidia 6200 card (with proprietary

(I know it is a redisplay, because I can hear the sound). Ubuntu Lucid
up-to-date, upgraded from Karmic where I didn't experience this problem.

Either Zope needs to run with python2.6 or there needs to be a
python2.4-imaging package made and this needs to depend on it both of
these are not likely. I think that the best solution would be to upgrade

Well, let's say it is a perfectly valid command that you shouldn't
be defining. In non-etex mode, the only way to test for the existence
of a control sequence is by comparing it to an undefined one, and
Hans chose \undefined, and I don't think using a more bizarre one will
actually solve anything.

Best wishes,

other files are last modified a few days ago.

You can see the last lines read:

[Bug 537175] [NEW] Xorg crashes and returns to login screen

2010-03-11 Thread Michael Olberg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

This is on lucid (10.04) with all packages up-to-date (2010-03-11). Typically a
few minutes into a login session, the screen will just go black and return me
to the login screen. After I login again, I don't experience further crashes!
I have had this problem ever since I started testing lucid and it's still here
in alpha 3. So I thought I better report it ;-).

2010-03-11 Thread kazabubu
I used to have the same problem when I was downloading torrents on my
ntfs partition.. the problem didn't appear again from the moment I
stopped using NTFS Configuration tool to auto mount my partitions. I
installed and started using MountManager and the cpu load levels are
back to normal.

[Bug 537176] [NEW] the firefox window stalls, does not go away with killing, graphics related

2010-03-11 Thread latrom
Public bug reported:

Hello. Somehow the intel graphics driver crashes and causes the firefox
window to stay on the screen, in a virtual desktop. Otherwise the system
is quite responding. I hope the logs reveal something.

[Bug 536994] Re: kernel lockups unmounting ext4 lvm2 snapshots

2010-03-11 Thread Kees Cook
** Description changed:

I have experienced IO lock-ups when unmounting lvm2 snapshots partitions
containing ext4. All IO, sound, etc will hang, though alt-sysrq remains
responsive (I can do alt-sysrq-b and it reboots, e.g.).

This problem is intermittent, unfortunately, but I see it most often
when I have performing a package build via sbuild in an LVM based
  snapshot schroot.

Steps to reproduce (probably not the minimal test case...):
  Terminal 1:
  - create an MD device across two physical drives
  - sudo -s
  - vgcreate testvg /dev/md0
  - lvcreate -L10G -n testlv testvg
  - mkfs.ext4 /dev/testvg/testlv
  - mkdir /mnt/test
- - mount /dev/testvg/testlv
+ - mount /dev/testvg/testlv /mnt/test
  - apt-get install ubuntu-dev-tools
  - while :; do cp -a /usr /mnt/test; sleep 1; rm -rf /mnt/test/usr; done

  Then in Terminal 2:
  - mk-sbuild --vg=VG karmic
  - cd /tmp
  - dget
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/dpkg_1.15.4ubuntu2.dsc
  - while :; do sbuild -d karmic dpkg*.dsc"; done &
  - while :; do sbuild -d karmic dpkg*.dsc"; done

Well, something like
\makeatletter

would probably protect against these errors, I mean, isn't it still
good practice to use some @ in internal command names ...

Or some \l...@original...

As for now I can imagine *many* usages of \undefined as normal command,
but as of now we make it impossible to be used as soon as graphicx

Please, make that a bit more robust!!

What does it cost us do use something that 99% of normal TeX documents
will *NOT* use as command names?

[Bug 532633] Re: [light-theme] please revert the order of the window controls back to "menu:minimize, maximize, close"

2010-03-11 Thread Alessandro Ranaldi
I agree with James Schriver, once one get used to the new position of
the buttons, he/she can reach them in less time because top-left corner
is almost always nearer the content of the window than the top-right
corner.

This, though, doesn't explain the choise to set the new position of the
buttons to all other themes. Each theme must have its own settings, so
revert DEFAULT metacity options to older ones, and change the individual
settings for the new two themes.

Well, in one-and-a-half decades of \undefined, you are the first
