[Bug 423247] Re: Superblock last mount times cause fsck to fail

2009-09-10 Thread Glenn Brumfield
In my case, leaving the system shut down for a day resulted in a clean
boot, but subsequent boot/reboots threw the error message. I think that
the non-first-boot-after-install issues may be because the system is not
shut down long enough to get beyond the time error.

[Bug 403329] Re: Some websites, like gmail, appear only partially, just lines and blocks and some icons

2009-09-10 Thread ramnarayan
Hi

What i wanted to write was that maybe this firefox bug should be closed,
because its possible that there was a conflict in packages as they were
drawn from difference sources. To explain further:

My fresh install was Ubuntu 9.04, after the fresh install i added
packages from Linux Mint 7 Gloria and since then kept the respos for
both Linux Mint gloria and Ubuntu 9.04.

because of the bug / or the issue with firefox and my dependence on
firefox i decided to reinstall 9.04 and to use any Linux Mint packages -
the result Firefox is back to normal no issues.

So am wondering if the people concerned would / could mark this bug as
closed.

regards and thanks
ram

***

On 9.04 the problem has been two fold initially in the 2.6.28.11 kernal
there was a bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345002) to do with
recognizing the cdma device and connecting it to the right /ttyUSB0
place, seemingly this has been resolved in kernal 2.6.28.13. But the
said device 2288 still did / does not work - atleast not normally. The
bug resolves the issue of the device being identified and being
connected to /dev/ttyUSB0 by defualt, but It only works in this strange
method outlined in the next para:-

first i need to boot up in 7.10 and run the device , after this i do a
reboot and boot up into 9.04 and immediately startup the device - again
using wvdial, and *strangely, if it connects on the first try the device
works properly. If the connection gets broken then i get the error
message

/ttyUSB0 input output error

**
it seems that the problem is that 9.04 does not load the right driver to the
device, which someone told me is a dumb device and gets reset each time it gets
attached to an OS.

So my question is how can i get 9.04 to load the right driver (without
having to do the 7.10 and reboot thingaamajig)

Is there a way i can extract the correct firmware loaded in in 7.10 and
make 9.04 use that ??

would appreciate yor help

thanks
ram

As I said, I'm keen on this not to happen automatically, or with
obfuscated words. It should say that there is a different program
"empathy" installed now, which has the same purpose, and offer to
remove either. Or, if that's easier, offer to remove pidgin if the
user confirms that he does not want to use it.

Could this have a check whether the program in question is currently
running?

[Bug 426822] Re: qemu corrupts screen on resize

2009-09-10 Thread Sam Liddicott
I'm booting vista, not kde

I'm invoking with:
kvm -no-reboot -m 512 -hda vista-business -net
nic,vlan=0,macaddr=00:22:64:58:00:1f -net tap,vlan=0,ifname=tap0

It happens when I re-size the screen, but sometimes the screen re-sizes
on it's own and it happens anyway..

I would like to say it is not a qemu bug because at the same time that
started going wrong, totem started crashing randomly and rhythmbox
started hanging when playing over pulse-bluetooth a2dp, but downgrading
qemu makes it go away.

I don't get any nasty dmesg output to suggest very nefarious things are
afoot, so I think these audio problems are unrelated, but I mention them
for completeness.

I was able to unlock the screen without rebooting into recovery mode by killing
gnome-screensaver from the console. Here's the output you requested:

If you must have the output from recovery mode, tell me and I'll send it
too.

[Bug 419270] Re: Empty categories should not be displayed

2009-09-10 Thread Michael Vogt
Its not entirely trivial to do that, because it means quering the xapian
database for each category on startup (something we do only on-demand
now). The xapian.Enquire class supports get_mset() with maxitems=0 to
get only a quick approximation of the result. That may be something
useful.

automake1.10 (1:1.10.2-0ubuntu3.09.04) jaunty-proposed; urgency=low

  * python.m4: Update to the patch integrated upstream. LP: #377584.
m4/python.m4 (AM_PATH_PYTHON): When computing pythondir and
pyexecdir, pass the expanded prefix resp. exec_prefix as `prefix'
to get_python_lib, so python can determine the name of the site
directory depending on the install location. Afterwards, replace
the directory names with the unexpanded values of $PYTHON_PREFIX
resp. $PYTHON_EXEC_PREFIX again, to allow override according to
the documentation. Fixes site directory computation for Debian

[Bug 385551] Re: [i945g] Jaunty -- Intel 82945G/GZ -- Screen full of vertical lines, cannot logon

2009-09-10 Thread Geir Ove Myhr
BassKozz, the best way to help diagnose this is to file a new bug report
with `ubuntu-bug -p xserver-xorg-video-intel`. We can then analyze your
case without the baggage from the original reporter who is no longer
responding.

Re: [Bug 411045] Re: slapd cannot get resinstalled or removed if the configuration files were lost

2009-09-10 Thread Christian Glahn
Yes, Purging failed because the related files hindered slapd from being
stopped.

I posted a patch for the slapd init script that removes this problem.
