I'm sorry but because of my current workspace environment I can't reproduce
the problem.
I will try to check its status as soon as it will be possible.

- Don't spawn man(1) from a setuid program
- Add polkit.retains_authorization_after_challenge to authz result
- Ensure all fds except stdin/stdout/stderr are closed after exec(2)
- Be more careful when determining process start time
- Pass the right struct offset for the ::changed class signal handler
- Don't set the GError if the process doesn't exist
- Remove temporary authorization when the subject it applies to vanishes
- Generate GI gir and typelibs for libpolkit-gobject-1
- Update NEWS for release
- Bug 23093 – FreeBSD portability fixes

- In .pkla files, use Result{Any,Inactive,Active} instead of just Result
- Rename some man pages and the daemon binary
- Add docs detailing how the Local Authority works
- Add support for querying and revoking temporary authorizations
- Fix make distcheck

Re: [Bug 410220] Re: Indicator applet Always shows icon

2009-08-24 Thread Mark Shuttleworth

The intent is for all messaging to fit into that menu - launching your
gmail monitor, launching IM clients, and knowing that you have new
messages, all belong there. The envelope icon is widely used as a proxy
for "you have a message from a human being", so that will stay the icon
of choice on the panel.

2009-08-24 Thread RomanIvanov
Could you please suggest a work around for a while.

I use "/usr/bin/amixer -q set Master 100% unmute" to unmute volume, But
I failed to automate this by: startup application,.bash.rc,
/etc/rc.local, .. . Still in search for the solution to run this command
automatically.

[Bug 418013] [NEW] GRUB2 hangs displaying "Entering rescue mode" when we try to boot thru SD card in the Intel ATOM board

2009-08-24 Thread aladi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

I have a Intel ATOM board that hasa SDHC in the PCI bus.BIOS has
the support to boot to the SDCARD that is connected to SDHC.
I have installed the Karmic Koala Alpha 4 version in the SD card using a live
USB created using unetbootin. The installation got successful. When we try
to boot , it hangs saying that <<<
GRUB Loading
Welcome to GRUB!

Entering rescue mode...
>>>

I have a GRUB loader in my HDD. Using the HDD grubloader, I tried to
boot to the SDcard. It hang up. I have removed the search line from
the boot line in the grub2 command list. Now it says that error:
cannot get C/H/S values.

[Bug 343738] Re: vsftpd max username length too small

2009-08-24 Thread Trent Lloyd
Thierry - thanks for the response. Is it possible to reconsider it?
Because it's not like vsftpd has its own usernames it's using the
systems user database.. so essentially vsftpd doesn't allow existing
users to login that other software does - this happens commonly in web
hosting when usernames are the same as a domain name. 32 character
domain names are not uncommon.

If not, oh well - thanks for the response - much appreciated.

As best as I can tell, this was a bug in the gutsy version of the ucf
package which was used during the upgrade, and is no longer present in
current versions of ucf (including the hardy version). Since gutsy is
EOLed and there's no way to publish a fix for the ucf package to gutsy-

[Bug 417848] Re: Gdebi crash if i try to install a package .deb

2009-08-24 Thread duchai
I have the same errors.

Is the "add remove" application = kpackagekit? If yes, I've already reported
that https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=204767 .
"rapport d'incident , aucun fichier de ce type" : maybe you mean this bug?
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/414063

And with gdebi, i have the same bug: everytime I click on a *.deb file,
the gdebi icon cursor jumps and after 10-15 seconds it stops and there
is no problem report.

[Bug 417811] Re: fetchmail corrupts attachments in daemon mode not in debug-run mode

2009-08-24 Thread ttl
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: fetchmail

  fetchmail version 6.3.9~rc2-4ubuntu1.1
  exim version: 4.69-9ubuntu1

Mails downloaded with fetchmail and handed to exim4.

Most e-mails have corrupted attachments (attachment size is slightly
larger than original file) when fetchmail runs in daemon mode (auto or
  manual (re)started from /etc/init.d/fetchmail)

E-mails don't have corrupted attachments when fetchmail is stopped and
  restarted in debug-run mode (/etc/init.d/fetchmail debug-run).

In debug-run fetchmail reports "message u...@pop.myisp.be:1 was not the
expected length... The actual length is a bit larger than the expected
length (reported by pop3 server) but mails are ok.

+ Giving a /etc/init.d/fetchmail debug-run while fetchmail is running in
+ daemon mode (without stopping it first) does not stops the corrupting of
+ attachments.
+
+ I have tried with binary and text attachments of 1MB, bot get larger and
+ corrupted. There is garbage added at the end of the file.
+
  Best regards,
  Patrick Craenen

Re: [Bug 322867] Re: Kernel panic after update to 2.6.24-23 on Acer Aspire One netbook

2009-08-24 Thread Stefan Bader
I cannot positively confirm this bug on the Acer Aspire One I have after Hardy.
So for me Intrepid, Jaunty and Karmic kernels boot without any problem.
For the HP netbook case it sounds like this should go into a new bug. But make
sure to try booting without "quiet splash" to find out what the last action is
(if necessary, set the console to a small font with "vga=ask"). For the Acer
the interesting fact was that the panic always occurred after setting the
kernels data pages to read-only. And that code has drastically changed after
Hardy.

[Bug 418026] [NEW] shipping files in /share

2009-08-24 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: policycoreutils

$ dpkg -c
~/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/policycoreutils/policycoreutils_2.0.55-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
 |grep ' \./share'
drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2009-05-11 00:17 ./share/
drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2009-05-11 00:17 ./share/man/
drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2009-05-11 00:17 ./share/man/man8/
-rw-r--r-- root/root 917 2009-05-11 00:17 ./share/man/man8/load_policy.8
$

This appears to be a consequence of the Ubuntu-specific modification to
put load_policy in /sbin instead of /usr/sbin. The rationale for this
move is bug #126415, but that bug states that the policy must be loaded
in the initramfs - that has nothing to do with whether tools are located
on /sbin or /usr/sbin on the installed system.

+ Please find my /etc/default/console-setup config attached. This
configuration used to work, I was able to toggle between arabic & us keyboard
layouts by tapping right Alt key, now this does not work anymore in karmic.
Meaning that I can only write in english on the console, and tapping right Alt
key doesn't switch to arabic anymore.

[Bug 227326] Re: [upstream] caps lock key should not be polled directly - openoffice switches keyboard layout

2009-08-24 Thread Xandros Pilosa
Khaled,
unselecting the option in Writer: Tools > AutoCorrect > "Correct accidental
use of cAPS Lock key" did help in my case (Ubuntu Hardy, Openoffice.org
2.4.1-1ubuntu2.1).
To completely turn off AutoCorrect uncheck: Format > AutoFormat > While Typing

I also think this needs to be a bigger part of a cleanup of ubiquity's
installing dialog. my comment below will sum it up
