[Bug 41093] Re: Firefox leaks memory if the clipboard contains 500001 bytes or more
According to the Ubuntu Firefox changelogs this was fixed in May 2006. According to upstream bug report, patches for this were committed to the 1.8 trunk in April 2006. So I'll change the status of this bug report from "Fix commited" to "Fix released". ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- Firefox leaks memory if the clipboard contains 51 bytes or more https://launchpad.net/bugs/41093 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can confirm the same behaviour at www.mediaresearch.org using Firefox 2 in Edgy Beta. The news ticker on the right hand side, when it is scrolling, brings the CPU to a load over 90%. Sorry I misread your setting and didn't see you are using scim-pinyin's im-switch setting. But on my dapper system the only difference between the im-switch setting of scim and scim-pinyin is that scim-pinyin's setting tries to start skim instead of scim when skim is installed. Does that mean scim-qtimm doesn't work with scim at all? I can use scim's im-switch setting to input through scim in KDE just fine. Of course it may be using XIM and not scim-qtimm at all - I wouldn't know. Pascal, if you follow Zhengpeng's suggestion, you need to install scim-pinyin in step 1, too. [Bug 35760] Only 1 konsole session with transparency
Hi, I need some more help to reproduce this bug. I am now testing in a up-to-date dapper environment, using en_US locale. So far scim-qtimm doesn't make any difference, nor any input method settings I mentioned above. However I don't quite understand what does the "open another session" in the bug description mean. The Sessions menu doesn't have anything like "new session". I can choose Session -> New Shell (or use the create tab icon in the left botton corner), which always gives me a new transparent tab; I can also choose Session -> New Linux Console, which always gives me a black, non-transparent tab. If this bug is about the "New Shell" menu, then I can't reproduce this bug yet. My dapper system is an Ubuntu system with KDE, upgraded many times, though. Maybe a fresh Kubuntu install is needed to reproduce. [Bug 64361] Re: Word erase
First, thank you for reporting this. In line 326 of ed.defns.c in the tcsh source package is: F_KILLREGION, /* ^W */ Ctrl + W is set to kill-region for the emacs mode, which is the default mode. In VI mode, it is set to F_DELWORDPREV. I think this is the source of the confusion. kill-region "cuts" everything from the beginning of the line to the cursor, while Ctrl + U just does the whole line. Such is the default behavior. You can set your version shell variable to include "vi" to get back the behavior I *think* you're used to. I'll mark this as rejected, please reopen if you feel this to be incorrect. ** Changed in: tcsh (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Rejected -- Word erase https://launchpad.net/bugs/64361 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 64612] Re: Elevated privileges as new created user
Tanks for the fast answer Abattoir. I must admit that I used the username "admin" as the first user, and wasn't aware of the group named "admin". Check your proposal out, and found that it did the trick. It would too have been nice, if the error in the notice box could have stated something like "Missing privileges." instead of "Conversation with su failed." - at least it fooled me, but maybe i'm the only one!. Anyway i can't help thinking that this "feature" could become a security risk over time, as it prevent normal users from running the updates manager when a update notification is shown. Could it be possible to make this work to a normal user ? At least but not last, sorry for posting under "oem-config", marked the bug as "I don't know" in the first place, but that seemed to be overruled by launchpad. [Bug 58418] Re: Creative ViBRA16X - CT4170 Not activated on new install
I have managed to solve the problem. Steps: 1. Download isapnptools package from http://packages.ubuntulinux.org/breezy/base/isapnptools . This is version for breezy, but it works in Dapper. There is no version for Dapper. 2. Install it using dpkg -i path-to-downloaded file . 3. Create and edit file /etc/isapnp.conf and put the following contents in it: (READPORT 0x0273) (ISOLATE PRESERVE) (IDENTIFY *) (VERBOSITY 2) (CONFLICT (IO FATAL)(IRQ FATAL)(DMA FATAL)(MEM FATAL)) # or WARNING (CONFIGURE CTL00f4/-1 (LD 0 (INT 0 (IRQ 5 (MODE +E))) (DMA 0 (CHANNEL 0)) (DMA 1 (CHANNEL 1)) (IO 0 (SIZE 16) (BASE 0x0240)) (IO 1 (SIZE 2) (BASE 0x0300)) (IO 2 (SIZE 4) (BASE 0x0388)) (NAME "CTL00f4/-1[0]{Audio }") (ACT Y) )) (WAITFORKEY) 4. Run "isapnp /etc/isapnp.conf". If it reports errors, you must change configuration above (it is suited to my setup). Try "pnpdump -c" and put its output in /etc/isapnp.conf file. If it does not help, you must find correct configuration manually, for example change port to 0x220. For full list of possible values run pnpdump. Note that if you change the configuration, you must change options for modprobe below. 5. Create and edit file /etc/modprobe.d/sbvibra and put the following options in it: alias snd-card-0 snd_sb16 options snd_sb16 port=0x240 irq=5 dma8=0 dma16=1 isapnp=0 6. Run "update-modules" 7. Run "modprobe snd-card-0". If it works OK (check if "ls -l /dev/dsp" shows that file is present), perform the steps below to make setup permanent: 8. Append following line to /etc/modules: snd-card-0 8. Go to system configuration (in GUI) and choose "Services".
