[SM-USERS] Newbie: plugins don't work

2003-01-03 Thread admin
Dear SquirrelMail users,

Sorry about the very basic question. I just installed Squirrelmail and it
work perfectly. Only the plugins won't show up. I seached the lists
and on the net but could not figure out why.

My installation:
SquirrelMail: 1.2.10
php: 4.2.3
apache: 2.0.40
couier-imap: 1.5.3

I tried to install the 'filters' and the 'calendar' plugin included in the
SquirrelMail distribution.
In config/config.php i have the following entries (done with configure):
$plugins[0] = 'calendar';
$plugins[1] = 'filters';

The directories and the setup.php file exist:
-rw-r--r-- ... plugins/filters/setup.php
-rw-r--r-- ... plugins/calendar/setup.php

In the mailing list I found some notes about the register_globals
parameter in php.ini. I tried it with both, On and Off, but did not get
the plugin to work.

What else do i have to do to get the plugins running?

Andi

Stupid question, how do I see the webserver user

not sure, your permissions look good.  for fun, why not try 777 on both

I tried
logging on as Muckleroy instead of muckleroy.  It gave me an error about being able to WRITE to the prefs
directory.  I changed the owner of
directory prefs to root:root and now everything works.  Go figure…  Thanks for the help

You don't have an INSTALL file sitting in /plugins/administrator ? It's
there in all of my 1.2.11 installs, pretty sure it was there in earlier
ones as well.

Oops! Sent from wrong address! Sorry!

I just installed the newest version of squirrelmail and ran the conf.php with ssh. I get this error when going to login. I cannot find a DB.php file anywhere in any of the directories. Are the latest files missing something?

Here's the full error.

Hope someone can help. I also had problems with the conf.pl file setting up the theme I wanted and would not turn color on.

2005-02-25 Thread admin
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

One of our clients that uses SquirrelMail email has complained to us that she
is not able recieve or send email. Some of her inbound emails are going
straight to the trash.

She has gotten several different errors, including:

"Delivery to the following recipients has been delayed."

"Your message was not delivered to because user not listed in public Name &
Address Book"

"Bad sequence of commands - Server replied: 503 Error: authentication not
enabled"

Is there a solution?

Additionally, she would like to know if there is a way to forward her
squirrelmail to her yahoo address when these types of problems are occurring
until there is a solution.

Thank you,
Admin

[SM-USERS] 1.3.2 - NotifyMail no longer plays sound files, link is wrong

2002-12-03 Thread admin
Though I love SquirrelMail, we're having a little trouble with the
NotifyMail plug-in. It works fine on our old 1.2.x install... but our new
(and much needed) 1.3.2 install gives 404 File Not found errors when it's
supposed to play the new mail sounds.

I've done a reasonable amount of troubleshooting already (though I'm not a
coder)... By looking at the source code of the web page that is supposed
to be playing the new mail notification sounds I can see that it contains
this screwy HTML:

404 Not Found

Not Found
The requested URL /mail/plugins/newmail/plugins/newmail/sounds/FanFair.wav
was not found on this server.

Apache/1.3.27 Server at www.algore04.com Port 80

Looks like SquirrelMail is confused about where the sound files are
stored. Try as I might I can't figure out how to change where
SquirrelMail is looking for them.

Anyone know how to change that?

Thanks,

Re: [SM-USERS] SquirrelSpell Problem

2003-02-25 Thread GWE WebMail Admin
I didn't write any of the code or anything so my answers are to be taken
with a grain of salt, of course, but I found that changing ownership
(user:group) of the aspell components did not make a difference when I
couldn't get SquirrelSpell to work. I tried all the same things you're
trying too. The only way I could get it to work (which I really don't like,
so if you find a better solution, please let me know) is to turn off safe
mode for the webmail site in my httpd.conf file. (I could also do it in
php.ini but the less holes the better.)
Hope this helps

[SM-USERS] Blank Screen after login

2013-08-02 Thread Dan Mahoney, System Admin
Hey there all.

I'm running Squirrelmail 1.4.22 under php5.3 under freeBSD.

After I log in, some of my users are getting blank pages. I don't believe
it's a PHP error -- everything is configured fine and works for most
users. All squirrelmail configtests seem to indicate everything's hunky
dory.

While I think I've solved my problem at the moment, I wanted to document
it here.

The behavior is thus:

Apache/2.2.22 (FreeBSD) PHP/5.3.13 with Suhosin-Patch mod_ssl/2.2.22
OpenSSL/0.9.8q

IMAP is uw, uw-imapproxxy,
and dovecot.

1) User is able to log in, ie they get a login form and are able to
submit it. Someone tailing the mail server logs will see an imap login.

2) Dovecot loads a folder, and ostensibly sends it along to squirrelmail.
TCPdump confirms this.

3) Squirrelmail never displays it -- and in fact never even closes the
connection to the imap server. Browser continues to spin.

4) Any future access attempt seems to pick up the same session and hangs
in a similar manner. You can't even bring up the login page again from
that browser, unless you restart apache.

So, here's what I discovered/tried in trying to solve this problem:

* The problem went away for *some* users once I raised the memory limit,
but the user I'm working with now about 300M in size. I've set php's
memory limit WAY higher than that as a debug, but with no luck.

* The debug plugin is not helpful -- it conflicted with multilogin. This
is perhaps a bug.

* I've tried moving user homedirs to different partitions (they're on NFS
at the moment, just to rule out NFS overhead (although all other imap
worked -- all other imaps)).

* I've tried turning off the suhosin patch by setting suhosin.simulation =
On in my php.ini, no help.

* once apache was in this "stuck" state, I couldn't even load the
squirrelmail config-test. (I could load a plain vanilla php phpinfo()
page)

* Finally, on a hunch, I disabled the "filters" plugin. Access came back
to normal. I'm still not sure that this "solved the problem" but my user
is happy, so I'm sticking with it.

Questions:

I recognize that there's not been a new release in a while, which is a
shame, so the hope of fixing these items may be low, but I'll ask anyway:

So, here's my big question -- why is this failure mode so obnoxious?

If this problem is filters, why not send a redirect that says "still
filtering, come back in a moment"? Or just output a status instead of a
white, spinning page?

Why not set a sane filtering timeout by default?

Does filtering try to filter the *entire mailbox*, or just the N messages
being displayed? If it's just the N messages, perhaps it should only
filter those N, which means yeah, your main page may have http://www.gushi.org

In this case, it doesn't help. The page stays in a constant "loading"
state. Nothing in any error logs, even with fairly high debug levels.

You may be right, but as I couldn't get the debug plugin to work
correctly, I can't tell where it is. As stated, conversations between the
imapd and php just stopped. I'm happy to let correlation imply causation
and say "I had a big problem, it stopped when I turned this off". Given,
this may be like saying "I only hear my brakes squeal when I turn off the
radio", but in this case, the squeaky thing is the users, and they're no
longer complaining.

Yes, and it was what caused me to try turning off filters to try and
alleviate this. My main reason for posting was to get the symptoms
documented in case anyone else hits a similar problem.
