Check class/deliver/Deliver.class.php

use newmail plugin that is included in base squirrelmail package.

Plugin does not do that. But squirrelmail core scripts do.

Options -> Folder preferences.

You can get lastest plugin code from anonymous cvs or download 0.9rc1.
Currently cvs is the same as 0.9rc1. It will have only two changed places
within 24 hours. Or wait for official 0.9 release on Sunday.

It is possible that space was removed for older db implementation and it
does not matter now, when nickname is quoted. We have to check all three
backends or cvs history.

can you go to compose window, select Addresses button, select your ldap
server in pulldown box and hit List All button. If you search in all
address books, ldap errors are not visible.

which ldapquery version is used? there is $ldq_debug option that provides
verbose output.

which OpenLDAP version is used?

have you set ldap bind protocol to 3 in conf.pl?

details, details, details...

You have changed different squirrelmail install or RH changed something in
squirrelmail i18n. Your changes should have set US English translation to
utf-8 charset.

Which charsets are used in your emails? iso-2022-jp, euc-jp, some other
charset.

Which extensions are supported by your php install? I need information
about iconv and recode support. Which php version is used?

Can you check if you can write in Japanese when Lithuanian or Russian
translations are used. If lt_LT and ru_RU locales are not installed,
interface will remain in English. Don't try to reply to other Japanese
email. Only write in Japanese and check if others can read it.

Can you create utf-8 encoded html page with all Kanji, Hirigana and
Katakana characters and check if your browser displays them correctly?

try different php version if you can.
try apache 1.3.33 instead of apache 2.

maybe some functions used in functions/abook_local_file.php don't work
correctly on solaris. maybe rewind(), fgetcsv(), flock(), fclose() or
usleep().

1. are you running php in safe mode?

2. do you have NLSPATH variable set in apache environment?

3. Try these two php scripts

If first one returns false and second - fa_CA.ISO_8859-1 string - add
hyphen to full locale name or port patch from 1.4.5cvs.

Have you checked php safe mode settings?

Feature is not implemented in autosubscribe v.1.0. It was in my plans for
v.1.1, but since it is implemented in squirrelmail 1.5.x configuration and
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=794323&group_id=311&atid=300311
tracker is closed, I have switched to working on other issues.

List of files in squirrelmail locale/fr_CA/LC_MESSAGES directory?

Can you get any stock translation working? In order to get working
translation, you don't have to switch entire server to selected language.
It only has to support locale used by selected translation, when php
gettext extension is enabled.

Do you have strace or some similar utility and php command line utility?

It's the way folder listing is displayed in 1.4.x. These folders are
subfolders of INBOX. See 1.5.x if you want to have them aligned at the
same level.

Do you want the lines numbers from RFC that say "space MUST be encoded"?
Or lecture about following Internet standards.

I think 6 or more months ago somebody posted modification that fixes it.
Not sure if it was on sm-users or on sm-i18n or some other sm list.

You only need function that extracts imap server from ldap when only
username is given. simple ldap query, that can be included in
config_local.php.

squirrelmail functions/imap_general.php, last two functions in file.
Available in all squirrelmail versions from 1.3.0.

http://www.php.net/iconv
http://www.php.net/recode
In order to read Eastern charsets without toasting your server,
squirrelmail needs external functions that support convertions to html
entities. In some cases conversion to utf-8 works too. Convertion to html
entities can be implemented in php recode extension (ussually not enabled
due to conflicts with imap extension) or php 4.3+ mbstring extension (i
suspect it does not cover some Japanese chars). Conversion to utf-8 can be
implemented in php recode, iconv or mbstring extensions. I might try
implementing it in external conversion program too.

Japanese translation uses XTRA_CODE functions to override default behavior
of squirrelmail functions. Used code converts composed emails to
iso-2022-jp, uses mb_encode_mimeheader() to encode headers to B encoding
instead of Q encoding used in squirrelmail by default, converts headers
and body between different Japanese charsets.

You have posted code from set_up_language() function, which sets charset
used by translation and makes sure that translation exists in $languages
array. It can

Expunge option is visible only when auto_expunge is disabled in
SquirrelMail configuration. SquirrelMail does not expunge messages on
every message listing. You have to move or delete message.

I think best thing that you can do - set ThunderBird to expunge on exit.

1. What kind of setup you use?
a) is v3 LDAP protocol required in order to use SunOne LDAP?
b) can users modify own userpassword attribute? It is safer to use self
binding instead of administrative binding.
c) is SSL/TLS required to connect to SunOne LDAP?

2. can you check test script from http://www.php.net/ldap (Example 1)

3. can you add $debug = true configuration option to config.php and check
output of change password dialog.

Please provide version numbers and correct plugin names when you talk
about your problem. change_password plugin is not yet distributed as
separate package. There is no change_ldap_passwd plugin. I suspect than
you use change_ldappass.

forced_prefs 1.1
if enforced settings use standard squirrelmail widgets, they are not
visible to end user. You can also disable plugin's hook, that is used to
add plugin's code to option pages.

forced_prefs 1.2cvs
there is an option, that can hide entire option blocks. Including default
ones. cvs is available in sm-plugins sourceforge project.

sample forced_prefs config file

can you test 'host' => 'ldaps://ldap.antagonism.org' setting?

can you check if your ldap libraries have ssl support?

Solaris 9 gettext does not revert to short name of locale. It uses name
that is set in setlocale call.

setlocale call must be successful. Solaris9 contains only limited number
of system locales and setlocale call will work only with es, fr and ru
translations. Spanish and French translations must use short iso639 names
or different country codes. Maybe set of installed locales can be
modified, but I still have to find the way to do it.

If you want to use translations without symbolic link hacks, recompile php
against gnu gettext libraries. Or ask Sun to implement reversion to short
locale name.

Other possible issue - you must set environment variables in order to use
translation with GNU gettext. SquirrelMail does not use environment
variables, when php is in safe_mode.

RE: [SM-USERS] Problem with switch to Estonian language

2005-04-19 Thread Tomas Kuliavas
> Hi Fredrik
> I looked at this page but nothing works. That language problem concerns
> only Estonian, other languages works without problem
> You could try also to switch to Estonian

If you have ee_ET.ISO8859-15 locale, you don't have to change
functions/i18n.php.

System locale with different charset can't be used in 1.4.4.

If you change charset in functions/i18n.php, you must also change charset
that is used in help files and squirrelmail.po file.

Estonian translation is very close to being removed from SquirrelMail
stable. It contains only 52% translated strings. If you want to see
Estonian in future SquirrelMail versions, can you update this translation.

slapd will fail to start if you have incorrectly generated cert. php will
fail to start ssl, when you use different host name to connect to ssl
enabled server. ldap client libraries (/etc/ldap/ldap.conf) need CA
certificates that they can trust.

when you generate certificate for yourself and don't want to pay for
signing it, you can create own ssl certification authority and sign your
sertificate with its cert.

Currently squirrelmail address book uses SSL when ldap_connect address
uses ldaps:// prefix. We don't use ldap_start_tls() function in address
books.

LDAP test script is attached.

In some cases this header is not security problem, but security feature.
If admin does not understand possible sender forging issues, removal of
authenticated header creates security problem in default squirrelmail
configuration.

You want option that is not secure when implemented incorrectly.

I think, you can't do that as plugin. There are no hooks in delivery class.

it should be implemented in 1.4.5cvs within two weeks, if stable team
accepts the patch. Header won't be removed if $edit_identity is set to
true. If admin understands the risk of message forging, he or she can use
The Force and modify squirrelmail source. Option will warn about forging
and indicate file that has to be modified.

You forgot to provide list of installed plugins. SquirrelMail stock
plugins should not create this error. Remove all enabled plugins and
enable them one by one.

what modifications are made in squirrelmail scripts?

have you considered storing sessions in database?
http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/en_US/SessionsInDatabase

Only some plugins designed to work in 1.2.x and 1.4.x break db session setup.

complain to yahoo. They must understand that "The only languages that can
comfortably be written with the repertoire of US-ASCII happen to be Latin,
Swahili, Hawaiian and American English without most typographic frills. It
is rumoured that there are more languages in the world." I think yahoo has
something about it in FAQ.

squirrelmail reads your yahoo email headers, sees us-ascii and displays it
as us-ascii. 7 bit information with all 8bit symbols replaced with ?.
us-ascii charset can't contain 8bit information. Function that does all
replacements is located in functions/decode/us_ascii.php. If that file is
removed, squirrelmail should pass us-ascii unaltered.

Have you ever tried reading white text on a white wall? :)

SquirrelMail 1.5.1cvs contains feature that tries to separate display of
email's html code from squirrelmail html formating.

php auto_prepend_file option. That's all I am using on test machine.
SquirrelMail scripts are not modified. Main problem - plugins that load
functions/strings.php before include/validate.php.

I might enable dummy1 interface and put two test web servers on dns rr,
but that would take more time.

I suspect that your php installation does not have session and pcre support.

--disable-all removed all default php extensions and you don't have
--with-pcre-regex and --enable-session

SquirrelMail should break on login page with session_id() function errors.

Rebuild your php install with session and pcre support. Make sure that
mod_php4 is rebuilt too. Or explain why configure line does not show
extensions required by squirrelmail and you are still able to use it.

when you diagnose problem next time - undo your custom changes.

set session.auto_start to 0

SquirrelMail scripts manage session startup. Don't help them in that.

Or explain why you are starting sessions in php configuration.

I can reproduce "Warning: Unknown(): Your script possibly relies on a
session side-effect which existed until PHP 4.2.3." error only if I enable
session.auto_start. I think this means that session.auto_start=1 is not
solution to your problems or we have to fix something in squirrelmail.

global address books are supported in squirrelmail 1.4.4. Older
SquirrelMail versions need patches and modifications in
functions/addressbook.php

possible issues:
1. global address books can disable listing of addresses in Addresses
page. You will see addresses only if you search for address. Listing and
writing options are controlled in SquirrelMail configuration.

2. http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/KnownBugs

3. I think, if address book is empty, it is not visible in Addresses page
too.

FreeBSD does not support US/Pacific time zone. You get UTC time when you
set it to US/Pacific.

SquirrelMail stores timezone information in locales/timezone.cfg file.

Reduce number of supported time zones or ask FreeBSD to add more timezone
mappings.

SquirrelMail already has two similar bugs (1078202 and 1177067) about it.
When these bugs are fixed, your problem should be fixed too.

SquirrelMail 1.4.4 contains menu items for global file based and database
based address books. If you have package that is marked as SquirrelMail
1.4.4 and does not include appropriate menu items in

6. Address Books -> options 3-4

9. Database -> options 8-11

then contact person that created such package.

Only SquirrelMail 1.5.1cvs contains additional menu options in address
book related code. Missing options don't break display of global address
books. These options only add additional controls. 1.4.5cvs contains some
address book fixes and enhanced error reporting functions. Critical fixes
are listed in KnownBugs page.

Re: [SM-USERS] Address Add from a LDA P Directory

2005-05-06 Thread Tomas Kuliavas
Button on compose window/page leads to pages that are designed to add
recipients from address books to composed email. These pages are not
designed to be used for address book management. If you want address book,
that is similar to address search pages, src/addressbook.php must be
modified or independent plugin that replicates most of address book
functions must be created.

change_pass plugin (http://www.squirrelmail.org/plugin_view.php?id=21) can
change password, if remote machine has poppassd server.

change_password plugin supports poppassd backend too.

Restart apache with 'apachectl stop; apachectl start' and not with
'apachectl graceful'. Disable php cache (Zend optimizer, Turck Mmcache,
php apc or other).

Some php caching engines break with cryptic errors, when php scripts are
modified. Your config.php contains valid code in line 86.

Please don't post html only emails to mailing list.

Plugin uses code that is not compatible with php 4.0.x.

It should use sqGetGlobalVar function instead of accessing $_POST
variables directly.

For example:

$cp_oldpass = $_POST['cp_oldpass'];

should be replaced with

sqGetGlobalVar('cp_oldpass',$cp_oldpass,SQ_POST);

I suspect that you might have other issues, if you use squirrelmail 1.4.x
on php 4.0.x.

[SM-USERS] Re: change_ldap plugin still not working

About being unable to change passwords in change_ldappass plugin on php
4.0.6.

Attached patch for change_ldappass v.1.8. Explanation of every changes:
1. removed all version specific function loading, because
  a) string.php and global.php files are already loaded by compatibility
plugin.
  b) plugin does not use imap or prefs functions.
  c) location of page_header.php does not depend on version
  d) plugin must include i18n.php in case compatibility plugin does not
load it by including include/validate.php.

2. compatibility_sqextractGlobalVar() function is used to extract global
variable. sqgetGlobalVar would be better, but since plugin uses
compatibility plugin, I assume that it needs squirrelmail 1.2.x
compatibility.

3. you must declare globals before extracting variables with
compatibility_sqextractGlobalVar() inside your functions. If globals are
not declared, they are not available.

4. new onetimepad is stored in session with
compatibility_sqextractGlobalVar(). Similar fix to 2. Don't work with
system variables directly or take into account php 4.0.x differences.

5. when you switch between gettext domains, you must use both
bindtextdomain() and textdomain() calls. If you don't use
bindtextdomain(), you are breaking squirrelmail 1.4.x or older on php
without gettext extension. I haven't fixed it and only marked all calls as
broken. it would be better to switch domain inside
change_ldappass_check() instead of switching in before and after function
call. Domain switching is expensive function call for squirrelmail gettext
libraries and it should be avoided whenever possible.

5. There is no need to modify key in $_COOKIE array. It is not compatible
with php 4.0.x and you are modifying it only to make it available to
current php script. Any other script should get values set in setcookie()
call.

6. there is no need to revert to squirrelmail domain after .
Script output ends there.

After modifications from change_ldappass.diff, plugin was able to modify
ldap password, if ldap server was allowing v2 protocol binding.

Possible problems:
1. In case plugin is used with 1.2.x, user must relogin, because functions
fail to modify onetimepad session value.
2. Plugin implements blowfish crypt by the book (bsd or php manual).
Current format of blowfish crypt is different and OpenBSD manual page must
be updated in order to explain differences between 2 and 2a blowfish
versions and inform about second salt key that sets number of hashing
rounds.
3. Some ldap servers default to v3 protocol and block use of v2 protocol.
PHP uses v2 protocol by default. change_ldappass plugin does not handle
such bind errors and fails with generic 'LDAP bind failed' error.

It would be nicer if plugin stored own functions before main options.php
code or functions were stored in separate file. It is easier to read code
that lists functions first. It would be nicer to use spaces instead of
tabs, because you don't control tab settings in other programs.

> Secondly I am not able to open the attachments such as xls, doc, pps, all
> attachmnts opens in txt format, how do I fix this.

About you second problem

see your error logs. They should be full of class errors. Minimal
recommended SquirrelMail 1.4.x version is 4.1.2. Use SquirrelMail 1.2.11
or upgrade your php install. SquirrelMail 1.4.x has problems in mime class
functions on php 4.0.6. I am not sure if fixes for 4.0.6 were posted on
mailing lists.

Re: [SM-USERS] Address Add from Ldap to Groups

2005-05-22 Thread Tomas Kuliavas

plugin uses own functions to find address book entries. current
implementation does not have ldap support and fails in mixed address book
backend setups.

Plugin code is stored in public cvs. See SM-Plugins project on
SourceForge. If you want to add ldap support or fix file based abook_group
backend or fix other things listed in TODO - patches are welcome. Please
note, that it is not enough to add ldap code blocks to abook_group
classes. Plugin must be radically changed in order to be able to use
different address book backends and identify backend that stores grouped
addresses.

do you have ldap support in php?

RedHat usually ships it in separate rpm.

SquirrelMail should list LDAP addresses only when you search for address.
start writing new email, click on addresses button. ldap address book
should be listed in drop down box.

Re: [SM-USERS] Could not list address from LDAP

2005-05-27 Thread Tomas Kuliavas
You have mixed setup.

You use old php-ldap rpm that came with your redhat install cd and updated
php package from 7.1 updates. I think your php ldap extension fails to
load due to version differences and you have extension loading errors in
your webserver's error log.

Download php-ldap from
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/updates/7.1/en/os/i386/, install it
and check if ldap extension is listed in output of phpinfo().

newmail plugin can display number of new messages in title bar. There is
an option that does such thing. Check the third checkbox from the top, not
on forth one. Plugin does not display status of folders. This feature is
provided by popup from mini plugin, but you might need version with some
fixes. I think mini plugin stored in
http://cvs.sf.net/viewcvs.py/sm-plugins/plugins/mini/ should run on
squirrelmail 1.4.4 without big issues.

How to use shared file based address book in squirrelmail.

1. Get SquirrelMail 1.4.4, 1.4.5cvs, 1.5.1cvs or later.

2. If you want to use writable address book in 1.4.4, get patch that fixes
address book form.

http://cvs.sf.net/viewcvs.py/squirrelmail/squirrelmail/src/addressbook.php?r1=1.58.2.16&r2=1.58.2.17

3. Create address book file. SquirrelMail address book uses CSV format
with | symbol as delimiter.

first field is nickname
second field - name
third field - surname
forth field - email
fifth field - additional information

for example:

test|Testname|Testsurname|[EMAIL PROTECTED]|testinfo

4. If you want writable address book, file must be writable by webserver
user.

5. After you created address book file, go to SquirrelMail configuration
utility, select 6. Address Books option and configure address book in 3.
Global file address book.

If you enter only address book file name, system assumes that address book
is in data directory. For example: global_abook. If you use data directory
to store global address book, remember that personal address books use
.abook suffix. You should not use global address book file with same
suffix, unless you understand what you are doing.

If you enter full path, system uses full path. For example:
/var/lib/squirrelmail/global_abook

If your configuration option contains slashes, but does not look like full
path, system assumes path relative to squirrelmail top directory.

If you want to use global file based address book in older squirrelmail
versions, take a look at functions/addressbook.php file. It contains some
comments that explain how to do that without configuration utility.

menuline links are generated by displayPageHeader function.

Function is stored in functions/page_header.php file.

In squirrelmail 1.4.4 code is in lines 278-289. Don't want to know where
it is in 1.4.0, because that version has bunch of security issues and
generates broken mime code. Please upgrade to 1.4.4.

Contact Egroupware developers and ask them to stop recommending adding
mbstring.func_overload=7 to php.ini. If they want to implement multibyte
string support, they should use multibyte string functions. This setting
can be set at PHP_INI_SYSTEM (since 4.2.0) and PHP_INI_PERDIR (since
4.2.3) levels. They should suggest adding setting to httpd.conf (4.2.0+)
or .htaccess (4.2.3+) files.

   php_value mbstring.func_overload 7

mbstring function overloading replaces standard php string functions with
mbstring equivalents. It makes standard string functions unreliable, when
they are used with 8bit strings.

SquirrelMail 1.4.5cvs and 1.5.1cvs contains hacks that are trying to fix
mbstring.func_overload issues, but configtest.php is set to warn about
dangerous php setup.

can you show database settings from squirrelmail configuration?

change password and login name to some generic text, but keep same DSN
syntax.

define the term "view" and provide more information about used poppass
server.

squirrelmail password plugins use html input fields set to 'password'
type. Password characters are hidden with * symbols.

standard qmailadmin templates use html input fields set to 'password' type
too.

vqadmin templates use html input fields set to 'text' type and password
information is displayed as plain text.

vpopmail utilities can see password if they check clear text password
field in domain users' database. If vpopmail is compiled without clear
text password support, utilities should be unable to display passwords.

Have you created database table for address book data?

See doc/db-backend.txt

CREATE TABLE address (
owner varchar(128) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
nickname varchar(16) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
firstname varchar(128) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
lastname varchar(128) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
email varchar(128) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
 label varchar(255),
 PRIMARY KEY (owner,nickname),
 KEY firstname (firstname,lastname)

first step in squirrelmail configuration:
run conf.pl, select D command and set your imap server.

If squirrelmail is configured with courier preset, you won't see INBOX
prefix in courier mail folders.

RE: [SM-USERS] RE: Problem with address book

2005-06-02 Thread Tomas Kuliavas
SquirrelMail 1.4.4 configtest.php does not check if table exists. Script
checks libraries and performs only db connect test.

I think, there are only two possible error causes. Invalid table structure
and invalid table name set in conf.pl -> 9. Database -> 2. Table for
Address Book.

If your user does not have select privilege on table, error message should
show 'unknown error' message.

SquirrelMail color themes are php scripts. You can use php scripting to
detect browser type.

Your options:
a) squirrelmail 1.2.11

b) install redhat 7.2 security updates
 https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/rh72-errata.html
 ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/updates/7.2/en/os/

See also http://www.autorpm.org. You might need libnet-perl rpm from 7.2
PowerTools cd in order to use it.

c) install updated php from source.
 http://www.php.net or
 http://www.apachetoolbox.org

You can install new apache and php in /usr/local and check if it can
replace your existing apache install. It should not break any rpm
packages, if you make sure that custom compilations don't mess with
directories used by packaging system.

Which ldap attribute stores phone number?

See plugins/ldapquery/functions.php ldapquery_abook_form() function. It
checks only labeleduri and phone attributes.

Why oh why do you provide link to some site in your signature? :)

PR. SquirrelMail link gives credits to developers of webmail interface.
Providers are free to replace it with own link.

Re: [SM-USERS] Themes

2005-06-12 Thread Tomas Kuliavas
Two hacks attached.

browser.php checks user agent string and provides different color schema
for Mozilla browsers. Copy to themes directory, go to SquirrelMail
configuration utility and run theme detection command in 5. Themes -> 1.
Change themes. Remove other themes or hide them with forced_prefs plugin
if you don't want to provide color options to end user.

browsercss.php uses php get_browser() function. php browscap option must
be configured in php.ini or httpd.conf. Copy to themes/css or other
directory and set URL in 5. Themes -> 2. CSS File. Remove other css files
or hide them with forced_prefs plugin if you don't want to provide css
options to end user. End users still can override CSS, if they know about
their browser configuration options.

See
http://cvs.sf.net/viewcvs.py/sm-plugins/plugins/ldapquery/functions.php?r1=1.9&r2=1.10

patch adds 'mobile' and 'telephonenumber' attributes from inetOrgPerson
schema.

What error message do you get? I think address add form matches stock
SquirrelMail form fields. It should fail to add address only then nick
name field matches or some form fields fail form data validation checks.

list_addr function is not enabled in ldap server backend. autocomplete

Global address book is address book that can be shared between users.

SquirrelMail supports multiple address book backends. Backends can be
configured to provide address books that store entries visible to one user
or to group of users or to entire squirrelmail install.

SquirrelMail supports own flat file format, database supported by PHP Pear
DB libraries and LDAP.

LDAP address books are readonly and listing of addresses is available only
when users search for address. Developers are working on code that allows
to control listing of LDAP entries for each configured LDAP directory.
Currently I have to finish debugging html based address search form, add
configuration code to SquirrelMail configuration utility and decide what
to do with nickname field. LDAP address books use full DN for nickname
(cn=John Doe, ou=contacts, dc=example, dc=org). It does not look good in
addresses page.

Global or shared address books can be configured in SquirrelMail since
1.4.4 version. Before than admin had to modify functions/addressbook.php
file. There is a typo in 1.4.4 code (i've missed couple of lines when
ported code from devel) and if you want to have writeable global address
books, you should apply patch or use 1.4.5cvs. See
http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/KnownBugs

If admin wants to use different backend for address book storage (IMSP,
personal LDAP address books, sticky notes attached to server),
SquirrelMail 1.4.5 and 1.5.1 provides hooks that allow plugins to attach
own functions during address book initiation. Older SquirrelMail versions
need two extra hooks in functions/addressbook.php. Current implementation
is still limited to standard squirrelmail address book format.

abook_import_export plugin contains INSTALL file. CSV file size is set in

You have to modify backend and address listing functions.

open functions/abook_ldap_server.php, go to the bottom of the file. Find
disabled list_addr() function and enable it.

open plugins/autocomplete/functions.php, find addressbook_init() call and
change second argument to false.

Make sure that user uses full name autocomplete and not only nickname.

If session timeouts, it is invalidated. Scripts can't perform any
operations in interface after that. See

Have you checked your configuration? Do you have aspell installed? Provide

depends on 'it'. SquirrelMail address book search pages
(src/addrbook_search.php and src/addrbook_search_html.php) have dropdown
box, which selects address book backend.

plugins/autocomplete/functions.php lines 40-54. add use of 'lastname'

delete irrelevant parts of message. I think, SquirrelMail does not have
option that disables quoting on reply.

conf.pl -> 6. Address books -> 2. Use Javascript Address Book Search -> true

SquirrelMail Options -> Display Preferences -> Addressbook Display Format
-> Javascript

Hit addresses button on compose page and add addresses by clicking on to,
cc or bcc links. Close window when you've finished selecting addresses.

download obsolete global_sql_addressbook-0.5-1.4.0.tar.gz, find domain
patch in that package and try adapting it for squirrelmail 1.4.5-rc1.

address book per domain options are not included in global address books
bundled with squirrelmail.

You can also try setting different global address book dsn for each domain
in vlogin plugin. Haven't checked if it works, but if plugin can control
squirrelmail configuration vars, it should be able to do it.

It works with any backend that supports list_addr function. SquirrelMail
1.4.4 flat file backends work with personal and global address book.
Global DB backend works, if listing is enabled. LDAP works if scripts are
modified and list_addr function is enabled in
functions/abook_ldap_server.php

I think, I've already said this. Don't ask same question twice. Don't post
dublicate messages to mailing list. Give people some time to answer your

OpenLDAP disallows v2 bind by default. PHP uses v2 bind by default.

Use latest stable SquirrelMail version, configure address book in Address
books menu and set LDAP protocol to 3.

Make sure that PHP ldap extension is present.

SquirrelMail LDAP address books are visible in address search pages. Start
writing email, select addresses button and check if configured ldap server
is visible in dropdown box.

If you want to debug php ldap connection, go to http://www.php.net/ldap
and use example test script from manual.

It is Fedora Core3 and later issue. Standard distribution should not
enable paranoid security features by default.

If you get audit: log entries and some programs/scripts stop working,
check your SELinux configuration.

a) Apache configuration prohibits requests bigger than ~500K.
LimitRequestBody directive in apache configuration files. Common issue for
RedHat/Fedora.

http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/LimitRequestBody

b) you have proxy between browser and webserver. Proxy has some post size
limits.

c) you have SOHO hardware router between browser and webserver. I don't
know how and why router can break web traffic, but Linksys might have
answer to that.

Reduce number of installed plugins and make sure that you can reproduce
problem when you don't have any enabled plugins.

Provide more details about your php install.

Check SquirrelMail 1.4.5rc1 or 1.4.5cvs. I think, there are some

Upgrade your SquirrelMail install

change_passwd plugin needs configuration file. have you created it?

it also needs access to suid binary and SELinux might block access to it.

Check change_pass plugin. It does not require priviledge elevation and
does not need knowledge about your email system layout in order to change
user's password. You will need only compatible poppass server.

If you get white pages instead of content of php scripts - check web
server's error logs. I think they are at /var/log/apache or /var/log/httpd
on Fedora.

See doc/themes.txt in your SquirrelMail install.

List of available themes is controlled in SquirrelMail configuration.

How many insecure things you have to enable on IIS/Exchange/IE in order to
do that?

We don't control http server software and write SquirrelMail with minimal
requirements for httpd. I think you can't edit webmail attachments without
DAV support, integrated authentication system and server side scripting
that intercepts DAV requests.

I suspect that OWA is not simple server side webmail suite. It implements
some features in activex. Last time I've checked it used different
communication protocol when activex applet is loaded. If OWA used http
requests, it would not had any problems talking through transparent http
proxy.

If you want open source solution, find the one that is implemented in Java
and check if it provides features that you want.

1. Check MAXPERIP setting in courier-imap configuration.

2. Check permissions of Maildir directory. ls -ld /path/to/Maildir

3. Make sure that SquirrelMail is configured for courier. conf.pl -> D ->
courier -> save config

selection box should list all subscribed folders. If you want to move
message to some not-subscribed folder - subscribe it. You should find
subscription options in Folders management page.

If selection box does not list subscribed folders - provide more details
about your setup. IMAP server, PHP version, used SquirrelMail
configuration (folder and imap server options).

If information is scrambled or encoded with publicly known key or method
by default, it is not secret. Security by obscurity does not secure
things.

class/deliver/Deliver.class.php

prepareRFC822_Header() function starts at line 364. Address is stored in
message id and Received header.

Received header can be removed, if you want.

you can't remove IP address information from message id. Message ID must
be unique for mail system. I think you can disable message id header
completely and first smtp server will create different message id.

Received header might cause problems with antispam scanners only if you
have web server running in dynamic dialup/broadband address range. Message
ID should not cause problems with antispam scanners. They should not
assume that message id contains ip address. RFC states that id must be
unique and uses client's ip address only as example.

SquirrelMail 1.4.5 should be released in July. It contains configuration
options, that allow to increase users' privacy without painting big red
target mark on admin's back :).

Remember that you are living in wild internet world and your email account
can be hijacked. Client's IP address in email headers might provide some
information about attacker.

SquirrelMail contains filters plugin.

It would be better, if you use some other plugin that implements filtering
not in mail read, but in email delivery stage. You haven't provided enough
details about your email setup and we can't say which plugin can work on
your email system.

Configure access to ADS in 6. Address books -> 1. LDAP servers. Make sure
that protocol is set to 3.

If connection fails, check
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1035454&group_id=311&atid=423679

Try 1.5.1cvs with $ldap_server limit_scope setting enabled or 1.4.x with
patch attached to tracker.
