the only thing you can do is rearrange the order of the $plugins array
in config.php; you can't make things go about the default options.

2005-03-29 Thread Tim Pleiman
I subscribe to the squirrelmail-users mailing list.

This bug occurs when I ...
  ... try to do/view/use

occurs when deleting mail from the inbox in paginated form on pages
greater than page 1

The description of the bug:

checking a message and then clicking delete removes the message but the
page does not refresh and message still appears to exist. If you select
the "deleted" message for viewing, the following error appears:

ERROR:
The server couldn't find the message you requested.

Most probably your message list was out of date and the message has been
moved away or deleted (perhaps by another program accessing the same
mailbox).
Click here to return to INBOX

Unless you actually select the deleted message and obtain the above error,
in order to get the deleted message to disappear from the listing, you
have to go to another page or back to the inbox, then back to the page
where the message used to exist and then the listed message will be gone.

I can reproduce the bug by:

and on Windows and Linux platforms running any version of Firefox. If you

[SM-USERS] Possible problem delete messages in Squirrelmail 1.4.4

2005-04-26 Thread Tim Grooms
Hi all,
New to the list and Squirrelmail. Have been running 1.4.4 for about a
week. Have had the same problem occur twice since then and wanted to
ask if anyone else had had this problem.

I've had two different users at two different times logged in to
Squirrelmail trying to delete a message when the system locked up on
them. The message was selected and the DELETE button pressed. The
entire Linux box froze and had to be rebooted each time. After the
reboot, the user was able to go back in to squirrelmail, (message was
still there) and delete the message with no problem. I'm not sure about
the first user but the second was trying to delete a message with an
attachment.

The only activity I could find in the logs at each of these times were
the users logged into Squirrelmail

Thanks for any help/suggestions,
Tim
Running:
Fedora Core 2
Squirrelmail 1.4.4
Apache 2.0
PHP 4.3.8
48 plugins
Firefox was the browser on both occurances

[SM-USERS] Rfc822Header.class.php error

2005-11-29 Thread Tim Hollinger
Hi,

I've recently set up squirrelmail 1.4.5 on a FreeBSD 5.2 system with PHP5.0.

The MTA is Exim running courrier IMAP v1.33

All works well but occasionally I will receive an
e-mail that throws an error message instead of the
content of the e-mail. The error is:

Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by
reference in /usr/local/install/squirrelmail-1.4.5/class/
mime/Rfc822Header.class.php on line 509

The line corresponds to the Parse Priority function:

function parsePriority($value) {
$value = strtolower(array_shift(split('/\w/',trim($value;
if ( is_numeric($value) ) {
return $value;
}
if ( $value == 'urgent' || $value == 'high' ) {
return 1;
} elseif ( $value == 'non-urgent' || $value == 'low' ) {
return 5;
}
// default is normal priority
return 3;
}

Has anyone else seen this error?
I couldn't find any patches or references.

Thanks in advance for any help

tim

[SM-USERS] A shared, updatable address book using OpenLDAP

2006-05-28 Thread Tim Soderstrom
One of my side projects has recently been to integrate a simply LDAP
database into my plethora of mail clients. While I am using SquirrelMail
more and more, the idea was to have the same list of contacts no matter
what client I, or my other users on my server, use.

Well I have gotten that part sort of working, but the problem I run into
is the inability to update records via SquirrelMail (or some other clients
like Thunderbird). I don't know if it is an LDAP permissions issue, but
just for testing I enabled global write access and was still unable to
update records.

My grand idea is to have a shared address book for everyone and a personal
one for stuff you don't wish to share with everyone on the server. The
problem is that if people can't update the address book, the usefulness
kinda goes away :) I don't mind using 'ldapadd', but I'm sure others would
:)

Any thoughts?

Tim S.

[SM-USERS] IMAPS Dovecot SSL without TLS

2006-11-07 Thread Tim Milstead
We are using dovecot with SSL connections without TLS.
Can squirrel mail connect to this (on another computer)?
All the documentation seems to require TLS to be turned on but we don't
want this.
There does not seem to be any SSL only configuration options.
How can I check to see if my PHP (version 5) supports OpenSSL which I
assume is required?
We are using Centos 4.4 on the web server and RHEL 4 on the mail server.

Thanks,

Tim.

[SM-USERS] Spell checking says I'm not logged in?

2007-10-07 Thread Tim Hogan
I have decided to give SquirrelMail a try and I have install v1.4.11
which seems to be working quite well, with the exception of spell
checking. Whether I am going into "SpellChecker Options" or clicking on
spell check after typing a message I get the following error;

Here is what ends up in the PHP logs of the web server;

Tomas,

I caught that and I changed it to

$config_location_base = 'https://www.hoganzoo.com';

however I am still getting the same error. Thanks for the idea but I am
afraid that I am going to need a few more :)

I am not too sure about the PHP stuff but I can tell you that I changed
the location base setting only to try and solve this problem. It was
previously blank.

As for PHP, it is the install out of the port in FreeBSD. I did not
make any special changes to it. If I understand what you are looking
for here is the session information pulled from a phpinfo script that I
have.

Tomas,

Thank you very much. You are the man!
So the only thing that I had to do was set the session.cookie_path to
root and everything worked perfectly.

Thanks again.

RE: [SM-USERS] Installation error: Call to undefined function: session_write_close()

Johathan,

Thanks for your reply. I am pretty sure PHP was not compiled (by me) with
the --disable-session switch (unless this was the default). We are not
running a 4.0.x version of PHP, running at least 4.1.2.

  session_write_close is a PHP function, included from PHP 4.0.4. You
  need to make sure you're using at least that version, and have not
  compiled PHP with the --disable-session switch.

You might want to create a file, call it test.php and put it into your
webtree. In the file, put the following code:

Save it, and open in your browser, like:

  http://www.domain.tld/test.php

That will give you some output information for your server. You'll be able
to see if you have the sessions disabled or not in there.

[SM-USERS] Block_user Plugin

2003-02-24 Thread Tim Grogan
Hello all,

I'm starting to install this plug-in and am setting up Procmail. One of the
installation questions is the default mail directory. I'm using uw-imap and I
see all sorts of directories but can't seem to find the default INBOX. I know
one of them has to be it :) Any one know which is the default inbox? Thanks.

[SM-USERS] Login not accepted (but IMAP works everywhere else)

2003-03-06 Thread Tim Robinson
Hi there,

I've been trying to get SquirrelMail working for a few days now and
something as simple as username and password are not being accepted. (NB i
can access using same username and password via Telnet and IMAP on Outlook
Express).

The computer is running IIS 5.1 on W2K, php4.2.3, MercuryMail 3.32,
SquirrelMail 1.2.11, (and I've even tried SM 1.4 but the behaviour is the
same).

I've noticed in the archives that a lot of people have reported this same
problem, and no-one has reported it being solved. *groan* I assume that
they've given up and decided to use something else.

Does anyone know of a solution to this? All help greatly appreciated. (Yes,
I'm SURE the username and password are correct!) ;-)

I haven't even been able to look at the rest of SquirrelMail yet..

Regards,
Tim

Re: [SM-USERS] Login not accepted (but IMAP works everywhere else)

2003-03-08 Thread Tim Robinson
Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the reply. In answer to your questions:
* Yes, there are entries in the mail log (do you need to see them?)
* Yes, it happens with all browsers (I've tried IE 5.1, Netscape 4.2 and 7.0
on Mac, and IE 5 on PC).
* No. Nothing blocking cookies. Cookies are being accepted.
* Error message says:
"ERROR
Unknown user or password incorrect.
Go to the login page"
This comes up in a framset page '/src/webmail.php' with
'/src/right_main.php' in the right frame with the error above, and
'/src/left_main.php' in the left frame which displays the error:
"ERROR
You must be logged in to access this page.
Go to the login page"
(Of course user name and password ARE correct)

Looking forward to a resolution. Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,
Tim

[SM-USERS] (no subject)

2003-03-13 Thread Tim Grogan
Hello all,

I just made the jump to the newer CVS version of SM for the Japanese support.
I'm currently running Debian 1.2.20 with SM 1.10 and everything runs great
(except for being able to create new folders, but that's another story). Now
when I try and open the newer version i get:

FATAL error. Failed opening required
'../config/config.php'(include_path.../usr/share/pear'

I do have the debian version of pear loaded. I might be looking for it in the
wrong place. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks Chris, I changed file and directory permissions to 777 (which should

[SM-USERS] Problems displaying large email

2003-08-14 Thread Tim McAuley
Hi,

I've just set-up Squirrel Mail to allow us to view some results from a
nightly cron job.

The resultant email can sometimes be very large (i.e. ~ 5MB in size).

To view this successfully under SquirrelMail I needed to set the
following under php.ini:

max_execution_time = 180 ; Maximum execution time of each script, in
seconds
memory_limit = 64M  ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume
(8MB)
(32MB maxed out!)

Any ideas why these values have to be so large?

I have adjusted the nightly tests to reduce the email size so this
should help but I'd like to know about the 5MB email anyway. Has anyone
else had this problem with large emails (not attachments).

Thanks,

Tim

[SM-USERS] Memory Issue?

2004-02-19 Thread Tim Dorsch
I have a RedHat linux 8.0 install using UW imap, on a AMD 1600 w/ 256MB of
RAM. I notice by using the TOP command and watching memory, I will have
about 60MB of free Mem. If i login to squirrelmail (1.4.0), and just
click around on folders and emails, the available mem will drop withing a
few minutes from the 60MB free to about 5MB, and I can see the slowness.
If i restart the http service it will be back up to 60MB free again. Can
anyone tell me what might be causing this? How can i fix?

Thanks

[SM-USERS] squirrelmail imap problem

2004-04-07 Thread Tim DeBoer
Hi everyone,
I've been trying to get Squirrelmail running on my system, but I'm getting
nowwhere with this particular error.
I'm running squirrelmail on FreeBSD4.8, squirrelmail version 1.4.2

ERROR
Error connecting to IMAP server: .
2 : No such file or directory

I have imap enabled in inetd.conf.
I'm not seeing any error messages in my apache log, or in maillog.
It looks like the login process doesn't actually get to the point where it
tries to log in. It just "fails" the login without actually checking the
uname/pword from what I can see.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

I found a fix for this that worked for me, although your mileage may vary.

run squirrelmail-configure
select option 11, 'Tweaks'
Under the 'Interface tweaks' heading, set option 2, 'Oldway', to true.
Cheers, and good luck!

[SM-USERS] Search of Active Directory fails with "Operations Error"

2004-07-20 Thread Tim Otten
I'm running SquirrelMail 1.4.3a with Apache 1.3.29 and PHP 4.3.4. The
plugins abook_take, listcommands, message_details, and squirrelspell are
enabled. SM connects to a uw-imap server on the same host. All of that
software comes from Debian/Sarge. I've just moved Unix user management
into Active Directory using libnss-ldap (aka PADL nss_ldap) and the
POSIX-like schema from MS Services for Unix. I have a special user account
for reading LDAP data.

The computers are generally happy with the setup, and SquirrelMail works
fine for reading and sending mail. The problem comes with using the address
book to search an Active Directory-based LDAP. I have two LDAP services
configured in SquirrelMail:

// University's Lotus-based LDAP
$ldap_server[0] = array(
'host' => '*omitted*',
'base' => 'o=AmericanU',
'name' => 'American University'
);

// Deparment's Active Directory-based LDAP
$ldap_server[1] = array(
'host' => '*omitted*',
'base' => 'DC=2k,DC=csis,DC=american,DC=edu',
'name' => 'CAP Internal Services',
'binddn' => '*omitted*',
'bindpw' => '*omitted*',
'protocol' => 3
);

Searches on the first one work flawlessly. When searching the second one,
the addressbook gives this vague message:

Your search failed with the following error(s):

[CAP Internal Services] Operations error

My settings for 'CAP Internal Services' were initially copied from my
working configuration of libnss-ldap. I have also tried a number of
variations:

* For 'host', tried a Win2000-based server and a Win2003-based server.
* For 'binddn', tried the proper dn 'CN=user...DC=edu' and the
  not-so-proper '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'
* For 'protocol', tried '2' and '3', and tried omitting the parameter.

To ensure that config.php is reloaded after I make a change, I modify the
'name' field, close the search window, reopen the search tool, verify that
the new name is used, and repeat my search.

I'm not sure that I've tried every possible permutation of those settings.
But, for each permutation that failed with SquirrelMail, I also did a
successful test with ldapsearch, e.g.

ldapsearch -h '*omitted*' -b 'DC=2k,DC=csis,DC=american,DC=edu' \
-D '*omitted*' -w '*omitted*' -xP3 sn=Otten mail

To factor out typos, I use cut and paste to construct the command line.

The only wiki page which seems to discuss AD is

http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/en_US/SquirrelMailWithExchangeFAQ

The patches/comments seem to enable authenticated searching. The current
code looks like it already has the same functionality. (I haven't tried
any debugging b/c I have no PHP experience.)

I've glanced through a dozen pages of the -user archives, and haven't
found any help. There doesn't seem to be an option for searching the
archives.

So. Has anyone had success searching AD from SquirrelMail? Was your setup
similar?

Thanks for at least reading,
Tim

[SM-USERS] Trying to set up my SquirrelMail in Outlook Express

2004-12-01 Thread Tim Cook
I have my website up and running and have yet to figure out how to get my
email working. I am trying to set it up in Outlook Express. I have already
did the autoconfiguration.

Now, please bare with me as I am totally lost here. I know nothing of the
info they are requesting in order to make this work.

Here is a break down of the info I need, but do not know which hat to pull
it out of.

Ok. I first go to Outlook Express and click the TOOLS tab at the top of the
page. Then click ACCOUNTS. I then choose ADD to add a new email address.
Choose my display name, Click NEXT and type in my email address. This is the
email address that I am trying to get to work, right? Ok

I hit NEXT and am then asked whether my incoming mail server is IMAP, POP3
or HTTP. I believe it is IMAP. Correct??? I click IMAP and move down to the
first text box where it asks for my INCOMING MAIL SERVER. I have no idea
what to put here. I know it is mail.ispserver.com but do not know what to
type instead of "ispserver". I use MSN. Is this what I put??? It then asks
me for my OUTGOING (SMTP) MAIL SERVER. Again, I do not know what to put
here.

Moving along... I hit the NEXT button and am then asked for the account name
and password that my internet service provided has given me. Again, I use
MSN, so do I use my MSN account info and password?

I have tried every combination I could possibly think of. I do not know what
IMAP I have what addies to use or even where to find them. I have searched
all over the OE page, Squirrelmail page as well as the SavingsHosting
website that I purchase my domain from and could find nothing to help me. I
have chatted with MSN, emailed several, etc... I've been told by MSN to
use HTTP (not POP3 or IMAP), told by SAVINGSHOSTING that all I had to do was
do the autoconfig, which did not set everything up.

Please guide me! I need to know EXACTLY what to type into those textfields.
Or atleast where I can find that info. Please don't say "Put your so-and-so
address here" when I do not know what the so-and-so address is.

On the verge of going insane Christie
BTW.. Just to see if it worked... I did hook up my hotmail acct in Outlook
Express and it works perfectly. I used the HTTP option for it though. But it
does work! So I know that my problem with my other is not knowing what
address to use and where to use them.

[SM-USERS] installed plugins shows up in conf.pl doesn't show up on webmail

2004-12-22 Thread Tim Toomey
I downloaded a vacation plugin as well as activated a few other plugins
(for now just the filters plugin) and installed them properly using the
make, make install to the proper plugins directory and they show up fine
in the conf.pl configuration program. I select their numbers in the conf
program and they move up to installed plugins. Now the problem is when I
login to our webmail none of the plugins show up! Even after I save the
settings and everything.

I don't see a place to add filters or to add a vacation away message.
Has this happened to anyone else? What are the possible solutions?

One more issue I have is with automatically subscribing users to the
spam, nonspam, and learnspam folders I have created when the user's
account is created. I saw a patch for it but was unsure of how to apply
the patch and where to apply it. If anyone knows how to do that let me know.

[SM-USERS] squirrelmail 1.4.0, full name doesn't work

2003-06-26 Thread Tim Daly, Jr.

Hi, I'm a new SquirrelMail user. Let me say that I'm really
impressed. SquirrelMail was very easy to set up, and it works very
well. I have, however, encountered a small problem.

It appears to be insufficient to just fill out the "Full Name" field
in Options - Personal Information. Unless the user also fills in the
"Email Address" field, the full name is not added to outgoing email.
If both fields are filled out, it works okay.

Is there some way I can make it so that users only need to fill in the
"Full Name" field, if they want to add their real name to messages?
It's very non-obvious that you need to fill out both.

I'm using SM 1.4.0, PHP 4.1.2, Apache 1.3.23, on RedHat 7.3.

Thanks for SquirrelMail!

Tim
