[SM-USERS] Squirrelmail on linux debian

2011-02-22 Thread Peter D Sparkes
Hi,

I am running Dovecot and exim4 on Linux Debian Lenny with Apach2. I have a
number of virtual domains
and the Maildir structure is:

/home/exampledomain.co.uk/user/Maildir

I have installed Squirrelmail using the latest debian package but can't get it
to work.
Help please

Regards

Peter

Re: [SM-USERS] Squirrelmail on linux debian

2011-02-25 Thread Peter D Sparkes

Thanks Fredrik,

I got it running by creating the following file /etc/apache2/sites-available/mail.mydomain.co.uk
and in the DNS pointed mail.mydomain.co.uk at my server

ServerAdmin webmas...@mydomain.co.uk
ServerName mail.mydomain.co.uk
DocumentRoot /usr/share/squirrelmail

I can now login and read my email.

However, when I try and send emails I get the following error:

   Message not sent. Server replied:
   Connection refused
   111 Can't open SMTP stream.

Any ideas please

Peter

SquirrelMail talks to Dovecot and Dovecot should be configured to use the
maildir structure, so SquirrelMail doesn't really need to know about it.

The SquirrelMail package in Debian doesn't use the debconf system, so you
have to run the configuration script for SquirrelMail. It's in
"/etc/squirrelmail/conf.pl".

There's more information to be found in the SquirrelMail documentation:
http://squirrelmail.org/docs/admin/admin.html

And some I found using Google:
http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/200
http://www.debianhelp.co.uk/webmail.htm
http://wiki.debian.org/SquirrelMail
http://www.google.com/search?q=debian+squirrelmail

Re: [SM-USERS] How to select the Domain to login?

2011-02-26 Thread Peter D Sparkes
I have just installed squirrelmail on a debian lenny system where I have a
number of domains. To
enable me to log in to each of the different domains I created in
/etc/apache2/sites-available/ the
following files mail.mydomain1.co.uk, mail.mydomain2.co.uk etc each containing

mail.mydomain*.co.uk,
 ServerAdmin webmaster@mydomain*.co.uk
 ServerName mail.mydomain*.co.uk
 DocumentRoot /usr/share/squirrelmail

where * is the domain number

and it works fine and I can login to each different domain with squirrelmail
