Firstly thank you much!
Fortunately it is only in my personal account, where is set some own
configuration. All other accounts are working properly, so this is a
personal issue, which is not a big deal. I will check my personal
preferences till I discover the problem.

Thank you for help.

Kind regards,

I found it (your hint with the options was gold):

the problem was in the Display-options (one of the last CheckBoxes):

Delete/Unread/Move/Next Buttons: Show on Top / with move option
(ids=delete_move_next_ti, delete_move_next_formATtopi).

Both CheckBoxes were checked, when I unchecked them the mails weren't all
unread anymore, each time I checked mail.

[SM-USERS] Question on moving mailboxes...

2011-02-22 Thread david . fleskes

All,

We are changing an account from (say) us...@foobar.com to
us...@foobar.com and would like to move the Squirrelmail mailboxes
associated with user1 to user2.  We would just like to move the
archived mailboxes of the old user1 to the new user2 under the the new
user's id.

We have read the FAQ but did not find the
instructions to do so.  I would appreciate it If someone has a
solution.

Squirrel mail is hosted on a MacOS 10.5.4 G5
platform.  We have admin and root logins.  Please let me know
if additional information is needed.

Kindest regards,
-David

[SM-USERS] Folders missing with new version

2011-02-22 Thread Alex
Hi,

I'm now using v1.4.22 with uw-imap, and folders that were created by
the users are missing. I've done some research, but haven't found a
clear answer on how to solve the problem. I've tried changing to
"none" from "INBOX." as the default folder prefix, but it then seems
to show multiple occurrences of the same folder.

Is there a way to migrate these folders to the format of the new version?

I'm sorry if this is a FAQ that I missed. Please point me to
documentation if it exists.

Thanks,
Alex

In SquirrelMail default folder prefix for uw-imap is not none or INBOX.. It
is mail/

Check which UW imap version you are running. SquirrelMail has folder
management issues with some uw-imap servers.

Consider using different IMAP server. Other servers support better mailbox
formats and have more configuration options.

It's a really old version of UW imap that I can't upgrade right now.

It was working fine with the old version. I was hoping to keep it
running for a bit longer until we can upgrade the whole server.

There is no mail/ directory. All the mail files are in the user's home:

[root@mail:user1] # ls -l
total 49008
-rw--- 1 user1 users 124041 Feb 1 10:20 INBOX.Drafts
-rw--- 1 user1 users23982693 Feb 22 10:06 INBOX.Sent
-rw--- 1 user1 users 5295779 Feb 16 13:41 INBOX.Trash
-rw--- 1 user1 users20356691 Jan 28 21:53 memos
-rw--- 1 user1 users 514 Jan 28 10:14 friends
-rw--- 1 user1 users 324889 Jan 11 14:05 receipts

~user1/.mailboxlist has:
INBOX.Sent
INBOX.Trash
INBOX.Drafts
memos
friends
receipts

These were all created using an older version of squirrelmail.

Thanks,
Alex

Your SquirrelMail configuration was

SquirrelMail Configuration : Read: config.php (1.4.0)
-
Folder Defaults
1. Default Folder Prefix :
2. Show Folder Prefix Option : false
3. Trash Folder : INBOX.Trash
4. Sent Folder: INBOX.Sent
5. Drafts Folder : INBOX.Drafts

Folders should look like http://img411.imageshack.us/i/nuotraukao.png/.
Screenshot is from UW 2007e and SquirrelMail 1.4.21. User should be able to
use it, if user preferences are not customized to look for email in
different folder. If you can't use such misconfigured interface, then
problem is most likely in user preferences or your empty folder prefix
configuration differs from my empty folder prefix configuration.

Correct configuration is

SquirrelMail Configuration : Read: config.php (1.4.0)
-
Folder Defaults
1. Default Folder Prefix : mail/
2. Show Folder Prefix Option : true
3. Trash Folder : Trash
4. Sent Folder: Sent
5. Drafts Folder : Drafts

Folder list should look like http://img593.imageshack.us/i/nuotrauka1.png/.
If you compare screenshots, you should see that folder tree is more readable
in second screenshot and uses less screen estate.

Check SquirrelMail user preferences and make sure that they don't have
folder prefix or special folders' customizations.

Create ~/mail/ directory and move all mailboxes to mail/.

Rename INBOX.Something mailboxes to Something.

Delete .mailboxlist

Enable autosubscribe plugin and set it to subscribe all mailboxes.

If you insist on using UW without mail/ prefix, you are not just using UW.
You are using it in suboptimal configuration. Please take care of your
server and configure IMAP client correctly before it toasts your server.

you have me wondering if mine is ok now.
using Dovecot
all the mails are in ~/Maildir
my made folders are
~/Maildir/.INBOX.example

Trash is in ~/Maildir/.Trash

I have :

Folder Defaults
1. Default Folder Prefix :
2. Show Folder Prefix Option : false
3. Trash Folder : Trash
4. Sent Folder: Sent
5. Drafts Folder : Drafts

It all works nicely but I wonder if I have setup the server in a non

It looks like all my trouble was that the new version was using
courier when it should have been specified as uw. That somehow didn't
make the migration. I should know for sure when everyone tries to
login in the morn.

I love when I cause my own problems. :-(

Thanks again,

IMAP namespace is configurable in Dovecot 1.x. Can you execute NAMESPACE
command in IMAP and show me results? Your configuration should be correct
for default dovecot config. SquirrelMail does not care how IMAP server
stores mailboxes. It is about matching SquirrelMail configuration to IMAP
namespace. In uw case it is about making sure that client does not try to
treat all files in home directory as mailboxes.

If you use dovecot, have some extra space to spare in mail store and your
users have large mailboxes, you might check if full text search plugins
are enabled in dovecot. Dovecot FTS implementation differs from cyrus
squatter, but users still get performance improvements, if they search
more than once. You should understand how dovecot FTS plugins work and how
they will impact your mailstore space usage before you enable them on
live.
