[SM-USERS] Squirrelmail 1.5.x available?

2010-09-03 Thread franc

Hello,

one year ago i installed Squirrelmail 1.4.13 and i like it very much.

Now i ask if the version 1.5 is released, is there a stable 1.5.x?
As the update is not so quick and easy, i would only update if there were
serious changes, like in 1.5 (with skins, i read).

Thank you for information or adequate links.

Regards, franc

Thank you. I strongly advice to upgrade to our latest release, 1.4.21,
which contains fixes for some security issues. See:

SquirrelMail 1.5 is an unstable release, which will be changed into 1.6
when it becomes stable. If you want to try 1.5 it's available on the
download page as "Development
version snapshots (1.5.2-svn)".

The current 1.5 doesn't support skins fully, although it works in some
parts of SquirrelMail. There is more information in the change log:

Thank you for your bug report.

Unfortunately the bug you reported isn't in SquirrelMail, so there's
nothing we can do about it. SquirrelMail is a web front-end to a mail
system, and as such doesn't deal with incoming mail at all. You have to
contact your system administrator or ISP and have them help you figure
this out.

More information can be found at our page about end user support:

Sincerely,
Fredrik

PS. Please ask your system administrator to disable the bug report plugin
and install the yelp plugin instead.

What parts are you referring to where skins do not work? As far as I
am aware, most of the interface is skinned. There are still a few
places where some work needs to be done, but to the end user, I'm not
sure they'd notice most of them. So although technically saying skins
aren't supported "fully" might be correct, I think it is misleading to
say that. For most people's purposes, it is fully skinnable.

In fact I did reply to your earlier email with these questions in it.
Please watch your inbox more carefully.

Using all caps in the subject line is like screaming, and seeing as we
are providing you free support for the free software you are using,
that kind of behavior is likely to get you ignored.

[SM-USERS] smtp and tls issue

2010-09-03 Thread Mike
Hi
I run squirrelmail on ubuntu 9.04 successfully.
When I switch to a different smtp server which requires tls then I get the
following error message. (the server runs on port 25)

"0 Can't open SMTP stream"

I tried to connect from other clients to the same smtp server and it works
fine.
Any idea how to resolve this?

Thanks,
Mike

Don't confuse TLS with StartTLS extension.

Stable SquirrelMail versions support plain text SMTP and SMTP-over-SSL. If
you set SquirrelMail to use TLS, you set it to connect to SMTP-over-SSL
service.

Service on 25 port can be only plain text SMTP with optional StartTLS
extension.

StartTLS is supported only in SquirrelMail 1.5.x and limited number of PHP
versions.

I upgraded to version 1.5.x; now I can connect to the server -thanks!
But the email get the content-transfer-encoding: 8bit, see this extract
from the email:

Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

Such emails will not be delivered through the Internet.

How does this come and how can I resolve this?

Upgrade to V1.5 solved it but I can specify only 1 user for all email
addresses.
Is it possible to specify different user/passw for different email
addresses?
