[SM-USERS] Charset problem in icelandic? Text is scrambled - not HTML
Dear squirrelmailers I'm having some problems with e-mail showing up scrambled. We tend to speak a lot of icelandic here in iceland and it seams as if some e-mails do not get interpreted correctly in Squirrelmail. When I download the e-mails to my pop3 client (thunderbird) the e-mails are displayed correctly. Not all e-mail is scrambled like that. If I had to guess those few e-mails that do get scrambled are coming from a Mac OS mail program. This image shows how the text is scrambled: http://netvistun.is/scrambled.jpg I'm using: * Squirrelmail 1.4.6 * Apache/1.3.33 * PHP 4.4.0 (no safemode) * Mail server is Exim * Any browser Btw. I'm not used to this list or even mailinglists in general for that matter so sorry about all n00b, RTFM stuff. Re: [SM-USERS] How can I correct this problem that "ERROR: You need the openssl PHP extension to use SMTP/IMAP TLS!"
OpenSSL does not provide required features if it is compiled as shared extension in php 4.x. See PHP bug #29934. Extension must be compiled into main php binary. > Find this line in your php.ini file and uncomment it: > ;extension=openssl.so > > Sould help. > > -- > Tomasz Pajor > WebSolutions > >> Hello >> >> I use squirrelmail1.4.5. >> Also I use courier-imap-4.1.0 on freebsd6.0. >> >> Squirrelmail works well but When I typed >> http://webmailipaddress/src/configtest.php I got a message as below; >> >> Checking PHP configuration... >> PHP version 4.4.2 OK. >> PHP extensions OK. >> Checking paths... >> Data dir OK. >> Attachment dir OK. >> Plugins OK. >> Themes OK. >> Default language OK. >> Base URL detected as: http://webmailipaddress/src >> >> ERROR: You need the openssl PHP extension to use SMTP/IMAP TLS! >> >> How can I correct this error ? >> >> What should I do ? >> >> Thanks --- Using Tomcat but need to do more? [SM-USERS] Multibyte String Function Message
Recently a student came here because the message: You need to have php4 installed with the multibyte string function enabled (using configure option --enable-mbstring) appears after he does the login, no Inbox, just that message. Just for that user and no other has had such a problem in about one year and even now just the user tecacl05 seems to be the onlyone problem. I am using system accounts. If I delete and create a new user account it works as expected, even all the new accounts seems to work well. I have no answer to that :(. I tried the SM's bug tracker and didn't see anything about it. Could you tell me something about this? I am using: whitebox-release-4-2.WB2 Squirrel 1.4.5 dovecot-0.99.11-2.EL4.1 php-4.3.9-3.6 quota-3.12-5 All the packages were installed from the RPMs available in the cds, except Squirrel that was installed from a .tar.gz that I downloaded from your official site. That's the way you can reproduce this error in SquirrelMail. In some cases SquirrelMail remains functional. Interface reverts user settings to US English and asks to refresh window. SquirrelMail Japanese translation requires php mbstring extension. If you want Japanese translation, please use php with mbstring extension. http://www.php.net/mbstring Some other translations need mbstring extension too, but they will remain functional, if extension is not available. -- Tomas --- Using Tomcat but need to do more? [SM-USERS] How to digitaly sign (S/MIME) my squirrel outgoing emails ?
Title: How to digitaly sign (S/MIME) my squirrel outgoing emails ? Hi all. I'm looking for a solution to digitally sign my mails that goes out of my squirrelmail using S/MIME and OpenSSL certificate. I'm looking for a solution for my webmail to send PKCS7 message to my mail server. This last one transfering the signed mail to the recipient. - Can I do that with squirrel ? - Must I set a piece of code between Squirrel and Postfix to do that (openSSL smime tools for ex) ? - Any others solutions ?? Sender ---> Squirrel --> App to sign email (S/MIME) --> email's server Really thanks. JB smime.p7s Description: S/MIME cryptographic signature

In order to use s/mime in webmail you have to store private user's key on public server. You can't trust webmail signatures same way you trust standard s/mime or pgp signatures. -- Tomas --- Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security? I just want the signature match the webmail. I want to be able to be sure that a received PKCS7 message come from this given webmail and for that I want that my squirrel mail sign it. In Fact the webmail validate the end user mail. JB --- Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
