[SM-USERS] Downloading mail into Microsoft Outlook 2003

2005-03-29 Thread Chrisie Council

I just had a website
built...and I tried to set up my web account to download automatically to MS
Outlook, but it isn't working.

I set up my earthlink
account with Outlook Express...so I used the same pattern...but it gets stopped
at the receiving part.  Is it a POP account?
I am not very computer
savvy so all the help available would be appreciated.

RE: [SM-USERS] LDAP Address Book

2005-03-29 Thread Simon
Thanks I looked everywhere except the conf.pl! However it sets up OK, I
then enable ldapquery plugin and I get a 'Directory' entry in the menu
and I can search, but all searches give an empty result, it does
indicate that it has used the right server at the bottom of the screen.
Anything else I need to do? The same settings are working for exporting
the LDAP addresses to MS Outlook so I know the server is fine

[SM-USERS] nutsmail on ensim

2005-03-29 Thread Nick Wilsdon

Hi all,

I'm trying to get the nutsmail skins working on our Ensim box. I have a
problem I have been going over and over this weekend and hoped someone
here should throw me a clue?

The error we get is on relocating the data file. Ensim names the folders
‘squirrelmail-data’ instead of ‘data’ and this is in the same directory
as the main ‘squirrelmail’ folder. On the previous config this is done
as an absolute path:

$data = “../../squirrelmail-data”;

I have replicated this and we now get the error:

ERROR
Error opening ../../data/default_pref
Could not create initial preference file!
../../squirrelmail-data/ should be writable by user apache
Please contact your system administrator and report this error.

Everything works if we use a data folder in the squirrelmail folder but
we want to replicate the existing Ensim setup.

I have been checking the paths and permissions; the pref files are
writable by user apache. What seems to be the problem is that SM is
looking for ../..data/default.pref and not
../../squirrelmail-data/default.pref I have looked through the
config.php many times trying to work out why it is still using that path
but no joy yet.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Nick

This bug occurs when I ...

occurs when deleting mail from the inbox in paginated form on pages
greater than page 1

The description of the bug:

checking a message and then clicking delete removes the message but the
page does not refresh and message still appears to exist. If you select
the "deleted" message for viewing, the following error appears:

ERROR:
The server couldn't find the message you requested.

Most probably your message list was out of date and the message has been
moved away or deleted (perhaps by another program accessing the same

Click here to return to INBOX

Unless you actually select the deleted message and obtain the above error,
in order to get the deleted message to disappear from the listing, you
have to go to another page or back to the inbox, then back to the page
where the message used to exist and then the listed message will be gone.

If I go over to 1.4.4 can I expect the same problem?

You will need to contact the people that run the mail servers that
host your mail for your domain. Unfortunately we cannot help you
there, we simply write a webmail application.

[SM-USERS] Re: Sending Japanese Characters (Tomas Kuliavas)

Message: 10 Date: Tue, 22 Mar 2005 20:51:22 +0200 (EET) Subject: Re:
[SM-USERS] Sending Japanese Characters From: "Tomas Kuliavas"
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: squirrelmail-users@lists.sourceforge.net>

I am experiencing a problem sending Japanese characters from
Squirrelmail using the English interface.
They end up in the users mailbox as テツ
if I send through my mail server via mail client like Thunderbird. The
text is received correctly. Also if I send via Squirrel Mail with the
Japanese interface the characters are printed correctly as well.
Is there a way to switch the encoding to something like UTF-8 so it will
send Japanese from the English version of Squirrel Mail?

edit functions/i18n.php and set utf-8 charset for en_US translation in
$languages array or check custom_charset plugin.
Tomas
--__--__--
Tomas thanks for your suggestion but I that did not work for me... most of the text Kanji, Hirigana and Katakana is moji baki (unreadable) regardless of what I change the en_US encoding to. I have tried utf-8 and ja-utf-8 (saw this in phpmyadmin). Also
I noticed what ever I changed the encoding to this is what appeared in the header

User-Agent: SquirrelMail/1.4.4-1.FC2
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain;charset=iso-8859-1
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

I changed these lines in i18n.php

$languages['en_US']['NAME']= 'English';
$languages['en_US']['CHARSET'] = 'utf-8';
$languages['en_US']['LOCALE']  = 'en_US.utf-8';
$languages['en']['ALIAS']  = 'en_US';
Was I changing the wrong lines or is there something else I need
to change? My problem is I have a number of bi-lingual users who's first
language is English but have to communicate with customers in Japanese
they would rather see a English interface even though they read/write
Japanese. Thanks Again, Erin

That's certainly interesting. Our code uses REPLACE INTO when using
MySQL. The MySQL documentation says:

"REPLACE works exactly like INSERT, except that if an old record in
the table has the same value as a new record for a PRIMARY KEY or a
UNIQUE index, the old record is deleted before the new record is
inserted."

It also goes on to mention that the user must have INSERT and DELETE
privileges on the table, but I dare say it probably wouldn't help to
ensure the user has UPDATE privileges too. Did you use our code from
doc/db-backend.txt to create the tables? Did you remember to include
the PRIMARY KEY code? I think the REPLACE code requires a
unique/primary key to work off of to do the update/insert stuff.

can you go to compose window, select Addresses button, select your ldap
server in pulldown box and hit List All button. If you search in all
address books, ldap errors are not visible.

which ldapquery version is used? there is $ldq_debug option that provides
verbose output.

which OpenLDAP version is used?

have you set ldap bind protocol to 3 in conf.pl?

details, details, details...

Well, with your lack of details as to what shows you cannot create
folders in SM 1.4.3a, we don't know. I can create folders just fine on
my courier server using SquirrelMail versions back to 1.2.6 (which was
when I first started using it).

You have changed different squirrelmail install or RH changed something in
squirrelmail i18n. Your changes should have set US English translation to
utf-8 charset.

Which charsets are used in your emails? iso-2022-jp, euc-jp, some other
charset.

Which extensions are supported by your php install? I need information
about iconv and recode support. Which php version is used?

Can you check if you can write in Japanese when Lithuanian or Russian
translations are used. If lt_LT and ru_RU locales are not installed,
interface will remain in English. Don't try to reply to other Japanese
email. Only write in Japanese and check if others can read it.

Can you create utf-8 encoded html page with all Kanji, Hirigana and
Katakana characters and check if your browser displays them correctly?

have you used D option in conf.pl

conf.pl -> D -> courier -> save config.

[SM-USERS] problem with customized sign-in page

2005-03-29 Thread chema
Hi.

I'm using Squirrelmail v1.4.4.

DESCRIPTION:
I've created a customized sign-in page for our Squirrel installation
integrated with our "corporate style" and I have also modified
the "signout_page" property (in the Squirrel's config.pl) in order to revert
to this customized "signin" page when "disconnected" from Squirrel and it
seems to run ok, BUT...there is one problem:

THE PROBLEM:
If the login/password introduced in the sign-in page are incorrect, then an
error page is shown with a link to return to the sign-in page BUT...NOT TO MY
CUSTOMIZED SIGN-IN BUT TO THE "STANDARD" SIGN-IN PAGE :-(

SOLUTIONS?
I've searched for a solution to this problem but I haven't found any...
There is some solution/workaround for this?

SUGGESTION:
It's possible to include a "signin_page" property that contains the URL with
the sign-in page to use (and i.e. if this property has no value then use the
standard sign-in page)?

Regards.

Apart from anything else, like this should rather be addressed to your own
main provider (rediffmail.com), since they're (through
associatedelectricals.com) the ones from whom you get this message.

Apparently you've used up your disk quota (like space to store your e-mail
messages). You have to delete and "purge" e-mail messages. Knowing
SquirrelMail, you'll probably have to ask associatedelectricals.com for
help in doing this, not this list.

Best,

[SM-USERS] hack attempts,

2005-03-29 Thread Patrick Donker
Guys, I havent searched the archives because it is something that
popped into my mind just now.
I just wondered if there is a password hacking protection in SM? 3
failed attempts and a account lockout or someting?
Or are dictionary attacks possible

SquirrelMail depends on your IMAP server for logging in, so you should
consult your IMAP server documentation. There might be a plugin with the
requested feature, so check
 as well.

Sincerely,
Fredrik.

[SM-USERS] missing special folders

2005-03-29 Thread Stefan Schlörholz
Hello everybody,

I run a SuSE 8.2 on a server with a cyrus IMAP server for local clients.

In my mailbox I (through squirrelmail) by accident deleted some special
folders like sent, draft, trash, etc. so that only INBOX is left.

I want to have those back in order to properly store the messages.

Just introducing new folders with those names doesn't help. They are not
recognized by e.g. kmail as special folders so that they do not get the
dedicated icons.

Does anybody know how to bring back those folders? I did a cyradmin
--rebuilddb (or similar) but without effect.

Best regards

Stefan
