[SM-USERS] How do I read email from multiple IMAP servers with one SquirrelMail account?

2005-01-27 Thread ilya gordon
I have 2 email accounts, both are IMAP based. Is there any way for me to
be able to access both accounts with in one SquirrelMail session?

Also, I currently pop some of the messages to local folders, but after I
download them, SquirrelMail doesn't display the number of unread messages
in those folders like it does for the IMAP INBOX folder. I have to
manually check folders if I have unread messages. Is there a way for
local folders to display number of unread messages in them?

I am running latest SquirrelMail 1.4.4-RC1

Thanks

I think your imap server is broken and produces wrong bodystructures. What
imap server do you use?

[SM-USERS] Emails from SM being 'lost'

2005-01-27 Thread Gabriel Harrison
Hi,
I have found that I can't send emails to some addresses with SM1.4.3a
but can when I use thunderbird on the mail server. This includes not
being able to post to the squirrelmail-users list from SM (definitely
using the correct address).

I've done some reading around on the web and it look like some mail
servers block email that have [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the headers.

Can anyone elaborate on this?
My mail setup is SM and Apache on 82.70.9.225 and using my ISPs SMTP
server to send emails. I tied using hmail SMTP on localhost but that
didn't work either. the server address and login uses ghserver.co.uk but
I am sending emails as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Would that effect it?

Example header from Thunderbird is:
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

In squirrelmail most buttons use input tag. This might create some
problems, because you apply same style to other boxes too.

see http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/ and add style definitions for input tag
into used css file

Re: [SM-USERS] Re: 'From' and 'To' columns

2005-01-27 Thread p dont think
1) Create a preference/config system where we group settings per module in
associative arrays (easy to extend) and add support for access control
list. A squirrelmail admin should be able to do the following actions per
setting:
* make settings visible or hide them
* set default values
* override user settings
* permissions on settings with acl support
I'm feeling like it would be *much* easier to visually parse this code
if we shove it into a set of classes and *not* into a bunch of (nested)
associative arrays. That would make it as (if not more) extensible, and
would make us organize it a lot better. I agree that user prefs should
use the same code as system config settings. Not that the array idea
won't work, but just another way to think about it.

Internally we need to tune our config system and see how we can combine
current config widgets with templates. I didn't make up my mind yet about
how to deal with that. I only know we should autocreate configpages just
as we do now so leaving it all to a template is probably not an option.
So you want to pass HTML to a template? I'm not sure that'll go over
too well unless the HTML is very limited. I agree that it seems like we
have a good thing going right now with our auto-generated config pages,
but am wondering if the extent to which that auto generation should
happen in a templating context is to merely generate a list of needed
widgets (and their attributes), which the template then has the
responsibility to build.

Probably introducing template widgets for each kind of option (boolean,
optionlist, dropdownlist, groupbox, whatever) and a config template wich
includes the widget templates is an option but hey i'm not a template
specialist.
Huh, yah, that seems neat. In my template experience (and I'm no expert
either), I've seen this kind of thing work fine. I would stop short,
however, of then presuming we can paste those things together and spit
them out as is, since surely some template developers will want to reorg
the actual placement of the resulting widgets.

In the end, though, I'm not sure this is necessary: why not just pass a
list of widget names/types/values/etc to the template and let the
template do all the hard work? The template can do its own inclusion of
widget templates if it wants to, in nearly the same way you are
proposing, but what is better is that this keeps the presentation code
in the presentation layer and the core only has to call one template and
not paste a bunch together or other such...

2) finish a template class
3) create templates for the mailbox option page
4) create templates for all other regrouped option pages
5) ...
6) figure out how we can make plugins work with templates. bleargh.
A lot of work !!!
you said it

Re: [SM-USERS] Why upgrade from 1.2.7 to 1.4.4?

2005-01-27 Thread p dont think
Sorry if I sending this to the wrong list, if so, please direct me to
the correct one.
I need arguments to persuade my mailserver-owner to upgrade his
Squirrelmail.
As of now he runs SM 1.2.7.
I feel that there are some features that i like with the 1.4.4, like the
support for virtual-servers, with my own fronpage. And support for some
security things.

Remotely executable security issues are something your webmaster *should*
be interested in. If he is not, I'd be considering a new host, but that
is me. New features, fast interface, better imap handling, better mime
handling, less imap server stress, security, etc. As for the
virtual-servers stuff, that is not handled by the core SquirrelMail,
however there is the vlogin plugin that can do that nicely for you.
Vlogin should work with 1.2.7 anyway, not that I am saying you should
not upgrade. To put it in stronger words, your server admin is just
plain dumb if s(he) doesn't want to upgrade from such an out of date and
vulnerable software package.

I suggest that you download v1.4.4 and read the file "UPGRADE". It can
also be read at
.

A more risky way to do it is to unarchive the new version over the old
one, but I think that following the instructions in "UPGRADE" is a better
way to go.

Sincerely,
Fredrik.

Interesting... that's not what I see when I look at it in mine. As 1.4.4
is out now, and is a /strongly/ suggested upgrade, could you test that?

Yes, but it's kind of complicated. First you need to know the UID (32 bit
int) of the message. You can look it up in the url link to the message
from the message list. UID is stored in passed_id. So look what's behind
&passed_id=.

After that you go the the imap info plugin of your option page. If the
plugin is not enabled, enable it.

If the problem message is in INBOX then it's easy, leave checkbox one
(TEST_0) checked (SELECT INBOX). Go to checkbox TEST_9, check it and in
the input field type:

UID FETCH your_just_found_uid BODYSTRUCTURE

(example UID FETCH 1224 BODYSTRUCTURE)

submit.

Copy paste the response to the bodystructure call and send it to me,
together with the attached original mail.

I tell you what's wrong with it so you can file a bug at hmailserver.
