[SM-USERS] Attachment no longer working after php4 upgrade...

2004-05-10 Thread Brian DeRosa
Hi all,
I'm on a FreeBSD 5.2 system.
I've been having a problem starting with the recent php4 updates.

This was a straight update using the portupgrade system. After doing the
update, I no longer am able to attach files to my mail.

I can eliminate some possibilities:
* I've searched the website/web and have tried the suggestions there...
checking permissions (mostly).
* The permissions on my attachment directories are owned by www:www (my
apache user).
* I have added the attachment, webmail, and tmp directories to my php_base
* I see the tmp file being created in the directory I have php setup to
use, but it is of 0 length after failure.

The problems only started with recent versions of php4.
The last update I did was to version: php-4.3.6_1

I was running perfectly fine (even after reboots) until the latest updates.
I've tried rebooting the server (in case it was an old library problem),
but am still unable to attach mail; I get the old "Cannot Copy/Move"
message that seemed to be permissions related.

I'm running squirrelmail 1.4.2

Has anyone else experienced/seen this same issue? Everything else seems
to work fine.
I've even been able to upload images (using a form) to gallery (a
different php-based app).

Help? 8)
Please let me know if you need additional information.

Thanks.

Brian 8)

[SM-USERS] Additional information on attachment problem...

2004-05-10 Thread Brian DeRosa
Turned up the php debugging and pointed the logfile at useful location:

PHP Notice: Undefined index: attachfile in
/usr/local/www/squirrelmail/src/compose.php on line 1268

Also, I'm running on Apache2 (latest FreeBSD port).
Thanks.

[SM-USERS] Unable to access the "Folders" entry at top of page.

2004-05-10 Thread J. Craig Woods
I am new to SquirrelMail, and to this list. I have done the searching via
the archives and google but I am coming up short on this one. When I click
the above "Folders" link, I get back this response:

Server Error
The following error occurred:

[code=SERVER_RESPONSE_CLOSE] The server closed the connection while
reading the response. Contact your system administrator.

Is this a permissions problem? I just want to add a new folder. Inbox,
Drafts, Sent, and Trash were created by SquirrelMail so I am thinking
permissions are correct. What am I missing? The install completed without
any errors, and all other SquirrelMail features are working very nicely.
This install is on a Linux box (Mandrake 9.1 w/ 2.4 kernel), and with
Apache 2 running. SquirrelMail is version 1.4.1. Thank you for any
assistance you can render.

Cheers,

[SM-USERS] INBOX remains empty but mail is retreived from POP-box.

2004-05-10 Thread Metal-Mauce
Hi

I know this question looks similar to known issues.
But for the the solutions to them didn't work.
Therefor I give it a try in this list.

Here is my problem:
I used to use squirrelmail on my linuxmachine to read my mail remotely.
I configured the fetchmailsettings in the configpage to retrieve mail from my
POP-boxes from my ISP.
Recently I reinstalled my linuxmachine and reinstalled squirrelmail exactly the same
way as I did before.
However, the problem I've got now is that my inbox remains empty.
I know for sure squirrelmail connects to my POPboxes because they are emptied by
squirrelmail.
So the problem is that squirrelmail connects to my POPboxes retrieves the mail but
somehow looses the
messages an I remain with an empty INBOX.
Sending mail is no problem though. I'm sure my apache is configured correctly.

My config:
Redhat 9
postfix 1.1.11-11
imap-devel-2001a-18
php-imap-4.2.2-17
imap-2001a-18

Please help, I'm really stucked now.

Thanks in advance

Mauce

Logs! Probably the best way to find what happened to the mail is to
watch any and all logs available to you. If you think there are actual
PHP bugs, you can crank up PHP error displays or use the Debugger plugin
to find those. If you were desperate, you could also just grep your
entire mail structure for some known keywords from the fetched emails.

No. As the documentation states, SquirrelMail is an IMAP client. There
are no POP3-based webmail packages that I know of, since POP3 is not a
suitable protocol in such a scenario.

Install new_mail plugin.

options -> NewMail Options
[+] Change title on supported browsers. (requires JavaScript to work)

If you have installed this plugin and can't see it in Options - make sure
that JavaScript support is detected. Options -> Display Prefs -> Use
JavaScript = Always.
