[SM-USERS] frequent error upon signout
I frequently receive the following error upon signout: "Warning: Session object destruction failed in /usr/share/squirrelmail/src/signout.php on line 47" Platform: Debian Woody, Quad PPro 200 Compaq Squirrelmail: Debian package v 1.2.6 Apache:Debian package v 1.3.26 Browser: win32 Mozilla 1.5 IMAP server: Exchange 5.5, NT4 dual P166 My apologies if this has been discussed/solved previously on the list, as my brief search of the faq and archive turned up nothing for this error. I looked in signout.php, but I can't seem to understand the source of the error. Do I have a permissions or cookie issue? Or something else entirely? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Can > anyone tell me what might be causing this? How can i fix? Well I have a familiar problem, but I`m not sure if it is related to squirrelmail or apache itself. We have a pentium4 with 512 MB RAM.Using SuSE 9.0 with cyrus-imapd. I know you can limit the memoryuasge in apache, but how much memory does apache need to run the application proper? The system has about 1900 users in Mysql. The purpose is to have a usage of 256 or 512 users constant. Is it possible to tweak squirrelmail? Some hints are appreciated. Thanx in advance. Re: [SM-USERS] Memory Issue?
It's important to fully understand what the Linux free command means. Linux uses as much memory as it can as disk cache, should a program need that memory Linux will immediately drop that disk cache and free the memory for the running program so when you look at the output of free, subtract "cached" from "used" to get a better idea of the available ram for programs. "free" is only that part that is completely unused (i.e. wasted). So it's a good thing that it's only 5 megs as long as cache is high and there's plenty of available memory. What's likely happening here is Linux is caching your folder files which is a good thing as it's likely you'll be reading from that file again. UW-IMAP has some performance problems of it's own though. Be sure to look at the SM documentation on speeding up UW: http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/en_US/SpeedWithUW My suggestion though is to look at moving to a more effecient and powerful IMAP server like Courier or Cyrus. ~ Jay Lee Network / Systems Administrator Information Technology Dept. Thx for the suggestion. 1.4.2 appears to run much faster than 1.2.6 did, and I don't see the signout error now. Stan --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. They all seem to be remote users--people within our local network don't have the problem. [SM-USERS] Question about v1.5 - UID and speed problems?
Hello: I just tried a simple installation of v1.5 SquirrelMail (we have been using v1.4.2). I have discovered that the initial inbox display for an IMAP folder with about 1100 messages is several times longer in v1.5. In v1.4.2 it only takes a couple of seconds to display the first 15 messages, and in v1.5 it takes more than 30 seconds. In v1.4.2 with our EIMS server, we resolved this problem (and an incompatibility problem) by setting "Enable UID Support" to FALSE in the Squirremail config. I don't see a UID setting in v1.5. Anything else I can do to speed this up? Thanks, James --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now.
