1. check if courierpoppassd works with vpopmail. If it works - use change
password plugin.

http://www.squirrelmail.org/plugin_view.php?id=21

2. check vpopmail admin plugin.
http://www.squirrelmail.org/plugin_view.php?id=103

You will need to use SUID wrappers or run apache as vpopmail user in order
to use this plugin. Plugin should not be used in non-dedicated webmail
server.

2004-01-05 Thread Brian Bergin
NOTE: Comments/opinions here are purely mine and not necessarily that of
the list owner.

Come on people, please read the FAQ and DETAILED information included in
EVERY e-mail sent out by this list with regards to unsubscribing from the
list. After all, you DID ask to be on the list, the least you could do is
actually take the time to figure out how to get off the list you asked to
join in the first place. Each e-mail sent from this list contains perfect
instructions for removing yourself from this list. Sending multiple
"remove" requests to the actual <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
list will NEVER get you removed. If you're using Outlook or another e-mail
client that hides important headers either go to the site and determine how
to get off the list, learn how to view all headers in your e-mail client,
or get a new e-mail client.

For those of you who have not seen the headers they are:

List-Help:

Notice they provide TWO different ways to get off the list, but neither is
by sending "remove" to the main list.

Thank you.

[SM-USERS] Imap Server dropped connection

2004-01-05 Thread Kamal Singhania

Hi All,

I've installed the latest version of the
Squirrelmail system on redhat 9 with Qmail and Courier Imap. Now sometimes the
SquirrelMail systems shows an error stating that the "Imap Server dropped the
connection" and it displays username and password. Is there somebody out there
who could solve my problem or are there people who have been facing the same
problem.

Thanx & regards,

Option No.1
get SquirrelMail 1.5.0cvs.
enable alternative tree listing in "11. Tweaks".
provide feedback/fixes
maybe it will be ported to 1.4.3.

Option No.2
I think there are plugins that do similar things.

Option No.3
Change src/left_main.php
if you remove text and put image for every folder, php will need gd support.

If you haven't turned on Full date option in Options->Display preferences,
SquirrelMail shows only time for today's mails. It can changed only by
translations.

Check _("g:i a") and _("G:i") translations in
locale/your_language/LC_MESSAGES/squirrelmail.po

2004-01-05 Thread Tomas Kuliavas

I think you should submit this question to your webmail provider.
SquirrelMail is only a program that is used to provide access to your
email.

There are several ways do create autoresponders/vacation replies. We don't
know which one you are using.

If you are using vpopmail or vmailmgr based setup, provider may have
special address that controls your account settings. If you are using some
different setup, try to remember how you have turned on your
autoresponder.

I think you forgot to setup SquirrelMail correctly or it was not setup
correctly when you've used older version. There is D option in conf.pl
menu, that allows setting options specific for your imap server. Use it
and remove folders that you see with INBOX. part. If you want to save
contents of these folders - move emails to different folders.

1. SUID wrappers.

Instead of calling vpopmail binaries directly, you call special programs
that are SUID to vpopmail. Then you don't need apache running as vpopmail.

you will have to use dedicated email server or you will have to put php in
safe_mode and set special php settings for squirrelmail.

2. vpopmail setup based on SQL/LDAP. custom administration plugin.

Er... check the permissions of the file. Your webserver isn't allowed
to open the file.

Also please don't paste javascript into emails.

Check /etc/httpd/conf.d/php.conf there is a line: LimitBodyRequest.
Either change the value, or comment it out. The restart apache.

[SM-USERS] imap or spooling problem?

2004-01-05 Thread Brian Cavagnolo
Alright. I'm running Redhat 9 with the James mail
server, the wu imap server, apache 2.0.40, and
squirrelmail. I had everything working but now some
wierd stuff is going on. I am pretty sure it is not a
squirrelmail problem but I'm not quite sure where to
go.

I send a message from elsewhere (i.e., this yahoo
account) to myself at my server. I inspect the mail
spool in /var/mail/myname and the message appears.
So, it seems like the smtp stuff is working just fine.
I use the simple unix 'mail' program and the message
appears in the message list. I turn on pine and AH
HA! The new message does not appear! I use
squirrelmail and all of my old-but-undeleted messages
appear in the INBOX.

If I manually manipulate the spool file in
/var/mail/myname by deleting an old message, when I
re-login to squirrelmail or when I call pine, the
message certainly vanishes. So, it looks like pine
and squirrelmail are properly querying the mail spool,
but for some reason they don't see the new messages.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Brian

3. run 2nd instance of apache as vpopmail user just for this purpose
(overkill?). There are instructions on how to do this in messages on this

Tomas has asked you several times before please don't send emails with
all caps subjects. It appears as if you're yelling. Everyone else's
problems are just as important as yours...

Yes it is. If you can't get it working, check the configuration utility,
check the website, check the mailing list archives, or ask on the mailing
list with more specific questions.

I'm not remembering the specific problem, and this doesn't give me any
more information. It *should* work; reply buttons are one of the basic
functionalities of SM that have worked for everyone out there for a long,
long time. Give more details (via the list), and we'll get you sorted
out.

[SM-USERS] (no subject)

2004-01-05 Thread squirrelmail
Hello,

I have installed the latest SM, and gotten it to accept a login and all appears to be
good, BUT

The list of folders on the left pane is as follows :

 INBOX
  Drafts
  Sent
  Trash
  INBOX.Drafts
  INBOX.Sent
  INBOX.Trash
anthony
Drafts
hold
ibm
kde
pli
save
Sent
squirrel
Trash

How can I get the list to be correct, that is, to have only one of each of Drafts,
Sent and Trash?

I'm not all that hot as a PHP programmers, so please explain in detail :)

In the message list it is listed as "01:00".

I can reproduce the bug by:
see above

(Optional) I got bored and found the bug occurs in:

functions/imap_messages.php

(Optional) I got really bored and here's a fix:
replace
$date = str_replace('  ', ' ', $date);
by
$date = ereg_replace(' +', ' ', $date);

Thanks for the help. I ended up selecting use Pop3 before SMTP and this
made everything work. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

[SM-USERS] Why is the group SUID bit set on 1.4.2?

2004-01-05 Thread szii
This would appear to be a security risk. I don't see any reason for it and
1.4.1 didn't have this set.

Is this required, or was someone being naughty?

Please reply directly.

[SM-USERS] Imap server dropped connection

2004-01-05 Thread Kamal Singhania

Hi All,

I've installed the latest version of the
Squirrelmail system on redhat 9 with Qmail and Courier Imap. Now sometimes the
SquirrelMail systems shows an error stating that the "Imap Server dropped the
connection" and it displays username and password. Is there somebody out there
who could solve my problem or are there people who have been facing the same
problem.

Thanx & regards,

Kamal Singhania

You failed to mention how you installed SM. All my files pulled
directly from CVS are not SUID. So I'm guessing it might be the way
  it's packaged.

PHP files are not executable, so setuid is meaningless anyway. What files
are you finding setuid? You just said 1.4.2. You mean all the files?
