The two best solutions I've seen out there are qmail and postfix, which
can both be interfaced with an IMAP server such as Courier or Cyrus,
keeping all user info stored in something like MySQL. There is lots info
out there (admitedly, it's piecemeal in many ways) on creating such
systems... it's more a matter of nailing down your SMTP/IMAP solution
first, and then SM can usually be adapted to most of the common
implementations. We could talk more details (and I could tell you why I
like postfix better, etc.), but I'd say you need to make your decision
outside of the SquirrelMail context for the most part.

Please keep replies on-list, and your chances of getting helpful answers
increase dramatically.

Once you have verified that your IMAP server works correctly. Have you
done so? Can you log in to the server? A very simple test can be run
from the command line:

telnet localhost 143
A01 LOGIN
A02 LOGOUT

> I think yes but i can't on which port imap is running?

IMAP usually runs on port 143, unless you are running secure IMAP, in
which case the port might be 993. BUT, you can possibly change this,
depending on the server software you chose. It sounds like you are still
stepping through the IMAP setup - there are in fact people here who can be
helpful with issues that you might have, but technically, this is not the
appropriate forum for such questions. You'll have much better luck
getting what you need by asking on the mailing lists associated with your
IMAP server software.

Re: [SM-USERS] too many questions

"Is there anyway to create users through a web interface and manage
accounts as well?"

FWIW.I've been using Mdk 8.0/Postfix/SquirrelMail for 18 months and
use 'Webmin' to manage mail accounts (bib/false belonging to 'ispuser'
group) via its web interface. There's a Webmin RedHat RPM.

[SM-USERS] Domain Restriction

2003-08-10 Thread kalpesh
Hi, all

I am using RedHat 7.2 , SM 1.4 , Sendmail and uw-imap server in single box
and working fine.

We have only single domain say abc.com. Now i want to restrict some users
so that they can send mails to users of our local doamin abc.com only and
they should not be able to send mails to outside.

this could not be a SM question but can anybody know that how to do this ?

Thanks and with warm regards

My guess would be that 1.2.10 and 1.4.1 are doing different things with
MIME, and Webwasher is blocking certain MIME types. Perhaps 1.2.10 is
"broken", and is using an improper MIME type?
