WHY DID PROPHET MUHAMMAD MARRY AISHA THE YOUNG GIRL?

This is an important book talks about a common issue misunderstood but
misused by lots of thinkers and orientalists. It is “Why did Prophet
Muhammad marry Aisha the young girl?” The author shows the reason
behind their discussion. They want to distort the picture of Prophet
Muhammad not criticize the marriage of young girl. Also if this kind
of marriage was strange, why did not the disbelievers of Quraish use
it as a pretext against Muhammad?! The author discusses other topics
such as: Europe also allows marrying young girls, the age of consent
in most countries worldwide.

HOW DOES ISLAM DIFFER FROM OTHER FAITHS? (PART 1 OF 2)

How Does Islam Differ from other Faiths? (part 1 of 2)

Description: Some of the Unique Features of Islam not found in other
belief systems and ways of life.
B
Simplicity, Rationality and Practicality

Islam is a religion without any mythology. Its teachings are simple
and intelligible. It is free from superstitions and irrational
beliefs. The oneness of God, the prophethood of Muhammad, and the
concept of life after death are the basic articles of its faith. They
are based on reason and sound logic. All of the teachings of Islam
flow from those basic beliefs and are simple and straightforward.
There is no hierarchy of priests, no farfetched abstractions, no
complicated rites or rituals.

Everybody may approach the Quran directly and translate its dictates
into practice. Islam awakens in man the faculty of reason and exhorts
him to use his intellect. It enjoins him to see things in the light
of reality. The Quran advises him to seek knowledge and invoke God to
expand his awareness:

Say ‘O, my Lord! Advance me in knowledge. (Quran 20: 114)

God also says:

“Are those who know equal with those who know not? But only men of
understanding will pay heed.” (Quran 39: 9)

It is reported that the Prophet, may the mercy and blessings of God be
upon him, said that:

“He who leaves his home in search of knowledge (walks) in the path of
God.” (At-Tirmidhi)

and that,

“Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim.” (Ibn Majah and al-
Bayhaqi)

This is how Islam brings man out of the world of superstition and
darkness and initiates him into the world of knowledge and light.

Again, Islam is a practical religion and does not allow indulgence in
empty and futile theorizing. It says that faith is not a mere
profession of beliefs, but rather that it is the very mainspring of
life. Righteous conduct must follow belief in God. Religion is
something to be practiced and not an object of mere lip service. The
Quran says:

“Those who believe and act righteously, joy is for them, and a
blissful home to return to.” (Quran 13: 29)

The Prophet is also reported to have said:

“God does not accept belief if it is not expressed in deeds, and does
not accept deeds if they do not conform to belief.” (At-Tabarani)

Thus Islam’s simplicity, rationality and practicality are what
characterize Islam as a unique and true religion.

Unity of Matter and Spirit

A unique feature of Islam is that it does not divide life into
watertight compartments of matter and spirit. It stands not for
denial of life but for the fulfillment of life. Islam does not
believe in asceticism. It does not ask man to avoid material things.
It holds that spiritual elevation is to be achieved by living piously
in the rough and tumble of life, not by renouncing the world. The
Quran advises us to pray as follows:

“Our Lord! Give us something fine in this world as well as something
fine in the Hereafter.” (Quran 2:201)

But in making use of life luxuries, Islam advises man to be moderate
and keep away from extravagance, God says:

“…and eat and drink and be not extravagant; surely He does not love
the extravagant.” (Quran 7:31)

On this aspect of moderation, the Prophet said:

“Observe fasting and break it (at the proper time) and stand in prayer
and devotion (in the night) and have sleep, for your body has its
right over you, and your eyes have rights over you, and your wife has
a claim upon you, and the person who pays a visit to you has a claim
upon you.”

Thus, Islam does not admit any separation between “material” and
“moral,” “mundane” and “spiritual” life, and enjoins man to devote all
of his energies to the reconstruction of life on healthy moral
foundations. It teaches him that moral and material powers must be
welded together and that spiritual salvation can be achieved by using
material resources for the good of man in the service of just ends and
not by living a life of asceticism or by running away from the
challenges of life.

The world has suffered at the hands of the one-sidedness of many other
religions and ideologies. Some have laid emphasis on the spiritual
side of life but have ignored its material and mundane aspects. They
have looked upon the world as an illusion, a deception, and a trap.
On the other hand, materialistic ideologies have totally ignored the
spiritual and moral side of life and have dismissed it as fictitious
and imaginary. Both of these attitudes have resulted in disaster, for
they have robbed mankind of peace, contentment, and tranquility.

Even today, the imbalance is manifested in one or the other
direction. The French scientist Dr. De Brogbi rightly says:

“The danger inherent in too intense a material civilization is to that
civilization itself; it is the disequilibria which would result if a
parallel development of the spiritual life were to fail to provide the
needed balance.”

Christianity erred on one extreme, whereas modern western
civilization, in both of its variants of secular capitalistic

WHAT DRIVES PEOPLE TO CONVERT TO ISLAM?

WHAT DRIVES PEOPLE TO CONVERT TO ISLAM?

The various aspects of Islam which drives people to convert despite its
negative portrayal in the media.

The nature of religious faith is quite mysterious. As part of their religious
faiths, people believe in a variety of deities. There are people who have
religious faith in the unseen supreme inimitable power, and then there are
others who believe in some humans as Gods, or animals (e.g. monkeys), fire,
idols made of stone, and the list goes on.

A lot is associated with having a religious “faith”. Part of it has to do with
beliefs passed on through generations. People’s identities therefore get tied
to it. Many times, these beliefs and associated feelings are not completely
demonstrable by reason or any rational arguments. There is nothing right or
wrong with this, but that’s just how the nature of religious faith has come to
be.

Almost everyone thinks they are right in their faith and beliefs. Being with
people and groups with similar faith further strengthens people’s faith, and
they see it as right, even though logical reasoning and argument sometimes
can’t explain it all. That’s simple human psychology.

Islam’s arguments based on intellectual reasoning
Muslims believe however, that the Islamic religion is different in this
context. One may argue that similar to other faiths there are aspects of it
which are not completely demonstrable by reason, but on the other hand the
Quranic text, which is God’s words addressing humanity at large, uses
intellectual reason, critical thinking, and the process of reflection as a
means not only to reinforce the faith of the believers, but also to call
non-believers to ponder about the authenticity of Islam as the way of life for
humanity at large. Although no religious beliefs can be fully based on logic
and reasoning, Islam and Quran provide more than enough examples and an
opportunity to examine the truth and the soundness of its message through the
lens of empirical evidence and knowledge.

No one (Muslim or otherwise) would argue that critical thinking and reflection
can be a major catalyst for changing ones life. Critical thinking has been
used by many to improve their lives simply because a critical thinker asks
probing questions about a situation, collects as much information as possible,
reflects on the ideas collected and generated in context of the information
available, keeps an open and unbiased mind, and carefully scrutinizes
assumptions and seeks alternatives.

This is the reason, therefore, that new Muslim converts would attribute the use
of intelligent reasoning, reflection and critical thinking when explaining
their journey to Islam. Such people cut through the hysteria created in the
media to view Islam from a critical lens and following the truth thus comes
naturally to them as part of this process. How else can one explain the
increase in conversions with the increase of anti-Islamic rhetoric? How else
can one explain that more non-Muslim preachers have been converting to Islam
than ever before? Although, as Muslims, we believe that guidance comes only
from Allah, the use of a person’s God-gifted intellectual reasoning has a very
powerful role to play in Muslim converts making that destiny changing decision.
And once converted, they rarely go back to their old faiths, simply because a
faith whose foundations are built on logic and reason is much less likely to be
shaken down than one which simply builds upon a set of rites and sacraments.

  Reasons attributed by new Converts
Some of the reasons given why people convert to Islam are the eloquence of the
Quran’s language, its overwhelming scientific evidence and proofs, arguments
rooted in intellectual reasoning, and the Divine wisdom behind various social
issues. The uniqueness and beauty of the Quran’s text has been marveled by
the best of Arab linguists and scholars, both Muslim and otherwise, from the
days it was revealed until today. The more knowledgeable people are in the
language, the more they appreciate the wonders of the textual fluency of the
Quran.Revealed more than 1400 years ago, the Quran also has numerous
scientific facts that are being validated by science only in this era.
Furthermore, it is the only known religious text that challenges mankind to
think, reflect and ponder over the creation at large, social issues, God’s
existence, and more. The Quran, in many instances, challenges people to
reflect and think on their own, rather than heeding the loose talk of those
whose criticism is based on baseless foundations. Finally, the Quran
provides a solution to numerous social issues, deviation from which has been
known to cause societal chaos at all levels.

The Quran is a confident assertion of a Supreme Being; the only known religious
book that has a confident assertion of a Supreme Being on all issues ranging
from the creation of the universe to

The Quran on Human Embryonic Development

2012-06-24 Thread BV BV
The Quran on Human Embryonic Development

In the Holy Quran, God speaks about the stages of man’s embryonic
development:

“We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop
in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an
alaqah(leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the
alaqah into amudghah (chewed substance)…” (Quran 23:12-14)

Literally, the Arabic word alaqah has three meanings: (1) leech, (2)
suspended thing, and (3) blood clot.

In comparing a leech to an embryo in the alaqah stage, we find
similarity between the two[1] as we can see in figure 1. Also, the
embryo at this stage obtains nourishment from the blood of the mother,
similar to the leech, which feeds on the blood of others.[2]

http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/images/The_Quran_on_Human_Embryonic_Development_001.jpg

Figure 1: Drawings illustrating the similarities in appearance between
a leech and a human embryo at the alaqah stage. (Leech drawing from
Human Development as Described in the Quran and Sunnah, Moore and
others, p. 37, modified from Integrated Principles of Zoology, Hickman
and others. Embryo drawing from The Developing Human, Moore and
Persaud, 5th ed., p. 73.)

The second meaning of the word alaqah is “suspended thing.” This is
what we can see in figures 2 and 3, the suspension of the embryo,
during the alaqah stage, in the womb of the mother.

http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/images/The_Quran_on_Human_Embryonic_Development_002.jpg

Figure 2: We can see in this diagram the suspension of an embryo
during the alaqah stage in the womb (uterus) of the mother. (The
Developing Human, Moore and Persaud, 5th ed., p. 66.)

http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/images/The_Quran_on_Human_Embryonic_Development_003.jpg

Figure 3: In this photomicrograph, we can see the suspension of an
embryo (marked B) during the alaqah stage (about 15 days old) in the
womb of the mother. The actual size of the embryo is about 0.6 mm.
(The Developing Human, Moore, 3rd ed., p. 66, from Histology, Leeson
and Leeson.)

The third meaning of the word alaqah is “blood clot.” We find that
the external appearance of the embryo and its sacs during the alaqah
stage is similar to that of a blood clot. This is due to the presence
of relatively large amounts of blood present in the embryo during this
stage[3] (see figure 4). Also during this stage, the blood in the
embryo does not circulate until the end of the third week.[4] Thus,
the embryo at this stage is like a clot of blood.

http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/images/The_Quran_on_Human_Embryonic_Development_004.jpg

Figure 4: Diagram of the primitive cardiovascular system in an embryo
during the alaqah stage. The external appearance of the embryo and
its sacs is similar to that of a blood clot, due to the presence of
relatively large amounts of blood present in the embryo. (The
Developing Human, Moore, 5th ed., p. 65.)

So the three meanings of the word alaqah correspond accurately to the
descriptions of the embryo at the alaqah stage.

The next stage mentioned in the verse is the mudghah stage. The
Arabic word mudghah means “chewed substance.” If one were to take a
piece of gum and chew it in his or her mouth and then compare it with
an embryo at the mudghah stage, we would conclude that the embryo at
the mudghah stage acquires the appearance of a chewed substance. This
is because of the somites at the back of the embryo that “somewhat
resemble teethmarks in a chewed substance.”[5] (see figures 5 and 6).

Figure 5: Photograph of an embryo at the mudghah stage (28 days old).
The embryo at this stage acquires the appearance of a chewed
substance, because the somites at the back of the embryo somewhat
resemble teeth marks in a chewed substance. The actual size of the
embryo is 4 mm. (The Developing Human, Moore and Persaud, 5th ed., p.
82, from Professor Hideo Nishimura, Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan.)

http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/images/The_Quran_on_Human_Embryonic_Development_006.jpg

Figure 6: When comparing the appearance of an embryo at the mudghah
stage with a piece of gum that has been chewed, we find similarity
between the two.

A)Drawing of an embryo at the mudghah stage. We can see here
the somites at the back of the embryo that look like teeth marks. (The
Developing Human, Moore and Persaud, 5th ed., p. 79.)

B)Photograph of a piece of gum that has been chewed.

How could Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him,
have possibly known all this 1400 years ago, when scientists have only
recently discovered this using advanced equipment and powerful
microscopes which did not exist at that time? Hamm and Leeuwenhoek
were the first scientists to observe human sperm cells (spermatozoa)
using an improved microscope in 1677 (more than 1000 years after
Muhammad)

The Oneness of God is the message of Jesus and all the Prophets, peace be upon them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Oneness of God is the message of Jesus and all the Prophets, peace
be upon them

The message that was brought by the Messiah (peace be upon him) was
the call to worship God, the One, the Lord of the Messiah and the Lord
of the worlds:

"Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God,
and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent"
John 17:3 - NIV

"A certain ruler asked him: 'Good teacher, what must I do to inherit
eternal life?'
'Why do you call me good?' Jesus answered. 'No one is good - except
God alone.'"
Luke 18:18-19 - NIV

"The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all
the kingdoms of the world.
And he said to him, 'I will give you all their authority and
splendour, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I
want to.
So if you worship me, it will all be yours.'
Jesus answered, 'It is written: "Worship the Lord your God and serve
him only."'"
Luke 4:5-8 - NIV

Believing in and worshipping Allaah alone, besides Whom there is no
other god, is the greatest teaching brought by the Messiah, and it is
the greatest teaching brought by all the Prophets.

"One of the teachers of the law came and noticed them debating.
Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, 'Of
all the commandments, which is the most important?'
'The most important one,' answered Jesus, 'is this: "Hear, O Israel,
the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind and with all your strength."

The second is this: "Love your neighbour as yourself." There is no
commandment greater than these.'
'Well said, teacher,' the man replied. 'You are right in saying that
God is one and there is no other but him.
To love him with all your heart, with you all your understanding and
with all your strength, and to love your neighbour as yourself is more
important that all burnt offerings and sacrifices.'
When Jesus saw that he has answered wisely, he said to him, 'You are
not far from the kingdom of God.' And from then on no one dared ask
him any more questions."
Mark 12:28-34 - NIV

But do not think that this advice was given to Israel or to his own
people only. Rather this is the basis of the teachings of all the
Prophets. The same advice appears in the Gospel of Matthew, in similar
wording, after which he says:
"All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Matthew 22:39 - NIV

This belief in the oneness of God is indeed the message of all of the
Prophets.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"And We did not send any Messenger before you (O Muhammad) but We
revealed to him (saying): Laa ilaaha illa Ana [none has the right to
be worshipped but I (Allaah)], so worship Me (Alone and none else)"
[al-Anbiya' 21:25]

This is the basic message to which the Messiah called people and
warned them against differing from that.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"Surely, they have disbelieved who say: 'Allaah is the Messiah ['Eesa
(Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary).' But the Messiah ['Eesa (Jesus)] said:
'O Children of Israel! Worship Allaah, my Lord and your Lord.' Verily,
whosoever sets up partners (in worship) with Allaah, then Allaah has
forbidden Paradise to him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the
Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers) there are no helpers"
[al-Maa'idah 5:72]

This is the basic principle on which we should all agree.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"Say (O Muhammad): 'O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians):
Come to a word that is just between us and you, that we worship none
but Allaah (Alone), and that we associate no partners with Him, and
that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allaah.' Then, if
they turn away, say: 'Bear witness that we are Muslims'"
[Aal 'Imraan 3:64]

It is alien to true Christianity, this futile attempt to reconcile the
belief in the Oneness of God, which is the message brought by the
Prophets, and which is clearly stated in their Bible, and affirmed in
the Torah in particular, with their belief in the trinity.

It says in the American Encyclopedia:
The belief in the Oneness of God - as a theological movement - began
at a very early stage in history, and in fact it preceded the belief
in trinity by many decades. Christianity developed from Judaism, and
Judaism firmly believes that there is one God.
The path that led from Jerusalem (the home of the first disciples of
Christ) to Nicea (where it was decided in 325 CE that Christ was equal
to God in essence and eternal nature) can hardly be described as a
straight path.
The doctrine of trinity which was affirmed in the fourth century CE
bears no resemblance to the original teachings of Christ concerning
the nature of God. Au contraire, it is the opposite, a deviation from
that teaching. Hence it developed in opposition to the belief in One
God...

THE SUN AND THE MOON

The Sun is a shine (diya') and the Moon a light (nur). This
translation would appear to be more correct than those given by
others, where the two terms are inverted. In fact there is little
difference in meaning since diya' belongs to a root (daw') which,
according to Kazimirski's authoritative Arabic/French dictionary,
means 'to be bright, to shine' (e.g. like a fire). The same author
attributes to the substantive in question the meaning of 'light'.

The difference between Sun and Moon will be made clearer by further
quotes from the Qur'an.
- Surah 25, verse 61:
Blessed is the One Who placed the constellations in heaven and placed
therein a lamp and a moon giving light
- Surah 71, verses 15-16:
Did you see how God created seven heavens one above another and made
the moon a light therein and made the sun a lamp?
- Surah 78, verses 12-13:

We have built above you seven strong (heavens) and placed a blazing
lamp

The blazing lamp is quite obviously the sun.

Here the Moon is defined as a body that gives light (munir) from the
same root as nur (the light applied to the Moon). The Sun however is
compared to a torch (siraj) or a blazing (wahhaj) lamp.

A man of Muhammad's time could easily distinguish between the Sun, a
blazing heavenly body well knows to the inhabitants of the desert, and
the Moon, the body of the cool of the night. The comparisons found in
the Qur'an on this subject are therefore quite normal. What is
interesting to note here is the sober quality of the comparisons, and
the absence in the text of the Qur'an of any elements of comparison
that might have prevailed at the time and which in our day would
appear as phantasmagoric.

It is known that the Sun is a star that generates intense heat and
light by its internal combustion, and that the Moon, which does not
give off light itself, merely reflects the light received from the
Sun, constituting an inert body (on its external layers at least).
There is nothing in the text of the Qur'an that contradicts what we
know today about these two celestial bodies.

THE STARS
As we know, the stars are heavenly bodies like the Sun. They are the
scene of various physical phenomena of which the easiest to observe is
their generation of light. They are heavenly bodies that produce their
own light.

The word 'star' appears thirteen times in the Qur'an (najm, plural
nujum); it comes from a root meaning to appear, to come into sight.
The word designates a visible heavenly body without saying of what
kind, i.e. either generator of light or mere reflector of light
received. To make it clear that the object so designated is a star, a
qualifying phrase is added as in the following Surah:
- Surah 86, verses 1-3:
By the sky and the Night-Visitor, who will tell thee what the Night-
Visitor is, the Star of piercing brightness

The evening star is qualified in the Qur'an by the word thakib meaning
'that which pierces through something' (here the night shadows). The
same word is moreover used to designate shooting stars (Surah 37,
verse 10): the latter are the result of combustion. It is difficult to
say whether these are referred to in the Qur'an with the same exact
meaning that is given to the heavenly bodies in the present day.

PLANETS
It is difficult to say that planets are mentioned in the Qur. an with
the specific meaning we give today to these heavenly bodies.
The planets do have their own light. They revolve around the Sun,
Earth being one of them. While one may presume that others exist
elsewhere, the only ones known are those in the solar system.

Five planets other than Earth were known to the ancients: Mercury,
Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Three have been discovered in recent
times: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.

The Qur'an would seem to designate these by the word kaukab (plural
kawakib) without stating their number. Joseph's dream (Surah 12)
refers to eleven of them, but the description is, by definition, an
imaginary one.

A good definition of the meaning of the word kaukab in the Qur'an
seems to have been given in a very famous verse. The eminently
spiritual nature of its deeper meaning stands forth, and is moreover
the subject of much debate among experts in exegesis. It is
nevertheless of great interest to offer an account of the comparison
it contains on the subject of the word that would seem to designate a
'planet'.

Here is the text in question: (Surah 24, verse 35)

God is the light of the heavens and the earth. The similitude of His
light is as if there were a niche and within it a luminary. The
luminary is in a glass. The glass is as if it were a planet glittering
like a pearl

Here the subject is the projection of light onto a body that reflects
it (glass) and gives it the glitter of a pearl, like a planet that is
lit by the sun. This is the only explanatory detail

ASTRONOMY IN THE QUR'AN

THE QUR'AN AND MODERN SCIENCE

The Bible, The Qur'an and Science

ASTRONOMY IN THE QUR'AN

The Qur'an is full of reflections on the heavens. In the preceding
chapter on the Creation, we saw how the plurality of the heavens and
earths was referred to, as well as what the Qur'an calls an
intermediary creation 'between the heavens and the earth': modern
science has verified the latter. The verses referring to the Creation
already contain a broad idea of what is to be found in the heavens,
i.e. of everything outside the earth.

Apart from the verses that specifically describe the Creation, there
are roughly another forty verses in the Qur'an which provide
information on astronomy complementing what has already been given.
Some of them are not much more than reflections on the glory of the
Creator, the Organizer of all the stellar and planetary systems. These
we know to be arranged according to balancing positions whose
stability Newton explained in his law of the mutual attraction of
bodies.

The first verses to be quoted here hardly furnish much material for
scientific analysis: the aim is simply to draw attention to God's
Omnipotence. They must be mentioned however to give a realistic idea
of the way the Qur'anic text described the organization of the
Universe fourteen centuries ago.

These references constitute a new fact of divine Revelation. The
organization of the world is treated in neither the Gospels nor the
Old Testament (except for a few notions whose general inaccuracy we
have already seen in the Biblical description of the Creation). The
Qur'an however deals with this subject in depth. What it describes is
important, but so is what it does not contain. It does not in fact
provide an account of the theories prevalent at the time of the
Revelation that deal with the organization of the celestial world
theories that science was later to show were inaccurate. An example of
this will be given later. This negative consideration must however be
pointed out.

A. General Reflections Concerning the Sky
- Surah 50, verse 6.
Do they not look at the sky above them, how We have built it and
adorned it, and there are no rifts in it
- Surah 31, verse 10:
(God) created the heavens without any pillars that you can see...
- Surah 13, verse 2:
God is the One Who raised the heavens without any pillars that you can
see, then He firmly established Himself on the throne and He subjected
the sun and moon...
These last two verses refute the belief that the vault of the heavens
was held up by pillars, the only things preventing the former from
crushing the earth.
- Surah 55, verse 7:
. the sky (God) raised it
- Surah 22, verse 65:
. (God) holds back the sky from falling on the earth unless by His
leave

It is known how the remoteness of celestial masses at great distance
and in proportion to the magnitude of their mass itself constitutes
the foundation of their equilibrium. The more remote the masses are
the weaker the force is that attracts one to the other. The nearer
they are, the stronger the attraction is that one has to the other:
this is true for the Moon, which is near to the Earth (astronomically
speaking) and exercises an influence by laws of attraction on the
position occupied by the waters of the sea, hence the phenomenon of
the tides. If two celestial bodies come too close to one another,
collision is inevitable. The fact that they are subjected to an order
is the sine qua non for the absence of disturbances.

The subjection of the heavens to divine order is often referred to as
well:
- Surah 23, verse 86: God is speaking to the Prophet.
. Say: Who is lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the tremendous
throne?.
We have already seen how by 'seven heavens' what is meant is not 7,
but an indefinite number of heavens.
- Surah 45, verse 31:
. For you (God) subjected all that is in the heavens and on the earth,
all from Him. Behold! In that are signs for people who reflect.
- Surah 55, verse 5:
. the sun and moon (are subjected) to calculations.
- Surah 6, verse 96:
. (God) appointed the night for rest and the sun and the moon for
reckoning.
- Surah 14, verse 33:
. For you (God) subjected the sun and the moon, both diligently
pursuing their courses. And for you He subjected the night and the
day.

Here one verse completes another: the calculations referred to result
in the regularity of the course described by the heavenly bodies in
question, this is expressed by the word da'ib, the present participle
of a verb whose original meaning was 'to work eagerly and assiduously
at something'. Here it is given the meaning of 'to apply oneself to
something with care in a perseverant, invariable manner, in accordance
with set habits'.

Surah 36, verse 39: God is speaking:
. And for the moon We have appointed mansions till she returns like an
old shriveled palm branch.

This is a reference to the curled form of the-palm branch which, as it
shrivels up,

WHAT DO MUSLIMS THINK ABOUT JESUS ?????????

2012-06-02 Thread BV BV
WHAT DO MUSLIMS THINK ABOUT JESUS?
I know that my article is not related to this group ,but it might be
useful.
PLEASE read it
What do Muslims think about Jesus?
Muslims respect and revere Jesus (SAW) and await his Second Coming.
They consider him one of the greatest of God’s messengers to mankind.
A Muslim never refers to him simply as ‘Jesus’, but always adds the
phrase ‘upon him be peace’. The Quran confirms his virgin birth (a
chapter of the Quran is entitled ‘Mary’), and Mary is considered the
purest woman in all creation. The Quran describes the Annunciation as
follows:
‘Behold!’ the Angel said, ‘God has chosen you, and purified you, and
chosen you above the women of all nations. O Mary, God gives you good
news of a word from Him, whose name shall be the Messiah, Jesus son of
Mary, honored in this world and the Hereafter, and one of those
brought near to God. He shall speak to the people from his cradle and
in maturity, and shall be of the righteous.’ She said: ‘O my Lord! How
shall I have a son when no man has touched me?’ He said: ‘Even so; God
creates what He will. When He decrees a thing He says to it, "Be!" and
it is.’ (Quran, 3.42-7)
Jesus (SAW) was born miraculously through the same power which had
brought Adam (SAW) into being without a father:
Truly, the likeness of Jesus with God is as the likeness of Adam. He
created him of dust, and then said to him, ‘Be!’ and he was. (3.59)
During his prophetic mission Jesus (SAW) performed many miracles. The
Quran tells us that he said:
‘I have come to you with a sign from your Lord: I make for you out of
clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it and it
becomes a bird by God’s leave. And I heal the blind, and the lepers,
and I raise the dead by God’s leave.’ (3.49)
Neither Muhammad (SAW) nor Jesus (SAW) came to change the basic
doctrine of the belief in One God, brought by earlier prophets, but to
confirm and renew it. In the Quran Jesus (SAW) is reported as saying
that he came:
‘To attest the law which was before me. And to make lawful to you paff
of what was forbidden you; I have come to you with a sign from your
Lord, so fear God and obey Me.’ (3:5O)
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:
‘Whoever believes there is no god but God, alone without partner, that
Muhammad (SAW) is His messenger, that Jesus is the servant and
messenger of God, His word breathed into Mary and a spirit emanating
from Him, and that Paradise and Hell are true, shall be received by
God into Heaven.’ (Hadith from Bukhari)

The Economic System of Islam

The Economic System of Islam

1-An introduction to the principles Islam has legislated to guide the economic
system of society. Part 1: The sources from which the laws that guide
economical activity are derived.
2-The Ideological Basis of Economic Activity and the general principles by
which they are guided

Introduction
As a complete way of life, Islam has provided guidelines and rules for every
sphere of life and society. Naturally, a functioning economic system is vital
for a healthy society, as the consumption of goods and services, and the
facilitation of this by a common medium of exchange, play a major role in
allowing people to realize their material and other goals in life.

Islam has set some standards, based on justice and practicality, for such
economic systems to be established. These standards aim to prevent the enmity
that often occurs between different socioeconomic sections. Of course, it is
true that the gathering of money concerns almost every human being who
participates in transactions with others. Yet, while these standards recognize
money as being among the most important elements in society, they do not lose
sight of the fact that its position is secondary to the real purpose of human
existence, which is the worship of God.

An Islamic economic system is not necessarily concerned with the precise amount
of financial income and expenditure, imports and exports, and other economic
statistics. While such matters are no doubt important, Islam is more concerned
with the spirit of the economic system.

A society that implements Islamic laws and promotes Islamic manners will find
that it bring together all the systems – social, economic, and so forth – that
it deals with. Islam teaches that God has created provision for every person
who He has brought to life. Therefore, the competition for natural resources
that is presumed to exist among the nations of the world is an illusion. While
the earth has sufficient bounty to satisfy the needs of mankind, the challenge
for humans lies in discovering, extracting, processing, and distributing these
resources to those who need them.

Islam consists of a set of beliefs which organizes the relationship between the
individual and his Creator; between the person and other human beings; between
the person and universe; and even the relationship of the person to himself.
In that sense, Islam regulates human behavior, and one type of human behavior
is economic behavior. Economic behavior is dealt by Muslims as a means of
production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. In Islam,
human behavior -whether in the economic area or others - is not value free; nor
is it value neutral. It is connected with the ideological foundation of the
faith.

The Sources of Islamic Economics
The fundamental sources of Islam - the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet[1] -
provide guidelines for economic behavior and a blueprint of how the economic
system of a society should be organized. Therefore, the values and objectives
of all “Islamic” economic systems must necessarily conform to, and comply with,
the principles derived from these fundamental sources. The purpose of these
articles is to outline the most salient characteristics of an economic system
based on the fundamental sources of Islam. The focus here is on the principal
features of the Islamic system.

The Islamic economic system is defined by a network of rules called the
Shariah. The rules which are contained in the Shariah are both constitutive
and regulative, meaning that they either lay the rules for the creation of
economic entities and systems, as well the rules which regulate existing one.
As an integral part of the revelation, the Shariah is the guide for human
action which encompasses every aspect of life – spiritual, individual, social,
political, cultural, and economic. It provides a scale by which all actions,
whether on the part of the individual agents, society, and the state, are
classified in regards to their legality. Thus there are five types of actions
recognized, namely: obligatory; recommended; permissible; discouraged; and
forbidden. This classification is also inclusive of economic behavior.

The basic source of the Shariah in Islam is the Quran and the Sunnah, which
include all the necessary rules of the Shariah as guidance for mankind. The
Sunnah further explains these rules by the practical application of Prophet
Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him. The expansion of the
regulative rules of the Shariah and their extensions to new situations in later
times was accomplished with the aid of consensus of the scholars, analogical
reasoning - which derived rules by discerning an analogy between new problems
and those existing in the primary sources - and finally, through textual
reasoning of scholars specialized in the Shariah. These five sources - the
Quran, the Sunnah, consensus

The Beauties of Islam

The Beauties of Islam

At this time in Islam’s history, when the entire religion is being judged by
the actions of a few, it is appropriate to step back from the glare of the
media spotlight and examine the beauties that infuse the way of life known as
Islam. There is greatness and splendour in Islam that is often overshadowed by
actions that have no place in Islam or by people who speak about topics they
only vaguely understand. Islam is a religion, a way of life that inspires
Muslims to try harder, reach farther and act in a manner that is pleasing to
those around them and most importantly pleasing to their Creator.

The beauties of Islam are those things that are part of the religion and make
Islam stand out. Islam answers all of humankind’s eternal questions. Where did
I come from? Why am I here? Is this really all there is? It answers these
questions with clarity and in a beautiful way. So then, let us begin our
journey and discover and ponder over the beauties of Islam.

1. The answers to all your questions about life are in the Quran
The Quran is a book detailing the glory of God and the wonder of His creation;
it is also a testament to His Mercy and Justice. It is not a history book, a
storybook, or a scientific textbook, although it does contain all of those
genres and more. The Quran is God’s greatest gift to humanity – it is a book
like no other, for it contains the answers to the mysteries of life. It answers
the questions and asks us to look beyond materialism and see that this life is
little more than a transient stop on the way to everlasting life. Islam gives a
clear aim and purpose to life.

“And I (God) created not the jinn and humankind, except to worship Me (Alone).”
(Quran 51:56)

Thus it is the most important book and Muslims have no doubt that it is exactly
the same today as it was when it was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad, may
God praise him. When we ask those most important questions, we want to be sure
that the answers we receive are the truth. Knowing that the answers are coming
from a book which is the unchanged Word of God, gives comfort and solace. When
God revealed the Quran, He promised to preserve it. The words we read today are
the same as those memorised and written down by the companions of Prophet
Muhammad.

“It is We Who have sent down the remembrance (i.e. the Quran) and surely, We
will guard it from corruption.” (Quran 15:9)

2. True Happiness can be found in Islam
Rejoice and be happy, remain positive and be at peace. [1] This is what Islam
teaches us, for all God’s commandments aim to bring happiness to the
individual. The key to happiness is in understanding and worshipping God. This
worship serves as a reminder of Him and keeps us always conscious of Him and
hence we stay away from evil, committing injustices and oppression. It elevates
us to being righteous and of good character. By following His commands, we lead
a life that guides us to the best in all our affairs. When we lead such a
meaningful life, then and only then are we able to see happiness all around us,
at any given moment and even on the darkest of times. It is even there in the
touch of a hand, in the smell of rain or newly mown grass, it is in a warm fire
on a cold night or a cool breeze on a hot day. Simple pleasures can make our
hearts truly happy because they are manifestations of God’s Mercy and Love.

The nature of the human condition means that amongst great sorrow can be
moments of joy and sometimes in moments of despair we can find an anchor in the
things that bring us happiness. Prophet Muhammad said, “Indeed amazing are the
affairs of a believer! They are all for his benefit. If he is granted ease then
he is thankful, and this is good for him. And if he is afflicted with a
hardship, he perseveres, and this is good for him.” [2]

3. In Islam we can easily communicate with God at any time of day or night
Every member of the human race is born innately knowing that God is One.
However those who do not know how to communicate with God or establish a
relationship with Him tend to find their existence puzzling and sometimes even
distressing. Learning to communicate with God and worshiping Him gives life a
whole new meaning.

According to Islam, God is accessible at any time and in any place. We need
only call on Him and He will answer the call. Prophet Muhammad advised us to
call on God often. He told us that God said,

“I am just as My slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he
thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers
Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group
of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they; and if he comes
one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit
nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he
comes to me walking, I go to him running.” [3]

New facts about the pyramids: a new miracle of the Qur'an

New facts about the pyramids: a new miracle of the Qur'an

Last scientific discovery stated the following: French and U.S. researchers
assert that the huge stones used by the Pharaohs to build the pyramids are just
clay that has been heated at high temperatures...

http://www.kaheel7.com/ar/images/stories/pyr-0.jpg

Will the pyramids that we know as one of the Seven Wonders survive in the
world? Did scientists find an answer to the puzzle of how the pyramids were
built in ancient Egypt? Are some people still believe that the Jinn are the
builders of these pyramids? Is it possible to believe that creatures from outer
space built the pyramids of Egypt? ...

These speculations filled the world and lasted for several centuries, but the
new discovery made by scientists from France and America will change the
scientists` look forever. It will also give a simple scientific explanation to
the mystery of building the pyramids, but more odd is that this mystery has
been in the Qur'an fourteen centuries ago!!!

It was believed that the pharaohs have carved the stones but the question here
is: How come all the stones are so identical that you cannot find a distance
between one stone and another? And where are the equipments and chisels that
were used in carving those stones? Until now, they have not been found? This
discovery confirms that the scientists were wrong when they thought that the
pyramids were built of stones. The nearest answer to logic and truth is to say
that the civilization of the pharaohs was built on the clay!!

 http://www.kaheel7.com/ar/images/stories/pyr-1.jpg

This is a picture from top of Cheops the Great ` pyramid, as we can notice this
pyramid was the highest building in the world with a height up to 146 meters.
Millions of stones were used in the construction: each stone weighs several
tons. It is an enormous work that gives evidence to the powers the Pharaohs
reached before 4500 years ago.

New scientific facts

One of the scientific facts that the great pyramid with the height of 146
meters was the highest building in the world for the last 4500 years and
continued until the nineteenth century, The new theory proposed by French
Professor Joseph Davidovits, the director of Geopolymer Institute asserts that
the pyramids were built mainly of mud and that clay was used as a mean to move
the stones on special railway.

The research suggests that the mud and other materials were taken from the
Nile`s soil and these materials were put together in tight stone molds .Then
they were heated at a high temperature, leading to the interaction of these
materials and forming them into stones-like volcanoes stones, which were
formed millions of years ago. Scientist Davidovits affirms that the stones
which were used to build the pyramids were mainly from limestone, clay and
water. The tests made by using Nanotechnology (the branch of engineering that
deals with things smaller than 100 nanometers) proved the existence of large
quantities of water in these rocks; such quantities do not exist in natural
stones.

Furthermore, there is also consistency in the internal structure of stones which
confirms that it is unreasonable that these stones were brought, then were
carved in this way. The most realistic possibility is that they poured the clay
in molds to make identical stones just as today as we pour plastic tools in
templates so all the pieces are quite equal and similar.

Electronic microscope was used to analyze samples of the pyramids stones. The
result was closer to the opinion of Prof. Davidovits and the quartz crystals
appeared clearly as a result of heating the mud. He stated that we don`t have
in the nature like these stones which his confirms they were made by the
Pharaohs. The analysis by Mini E scale indicated the presence of silicon
dioxide too. This is another proof that the stones are not natural.

http://kaheel7.com/userimages/pyramids_02.JPG

The picture shows Professor Michel Barsoum standing next to the Great Pyramid.
He stress that these stones were poured into molds of clay! This what he proved
in his researches after results of long experiments that these stones are not
natural. Pro. Michel Barsoum confirmed after Electronic microscope analysis
that they are a result of a quick interaction between clay, limestone and water
at high temperatures.

Davidovits famous book entitled "Ils ont bati les pyramides" ,published in
France in 2002, has resolved all problems and puzzles which were told about the
way that the pyramids were built. Moreover, he put a simple geometric
construction mechanism of mud. It was very convincing to many researchers in
this field of science. Some researches emphasized that furnaces or stoves were
used in ancient times to make ceramics and statues. The common use of fire was
to build status of clay, mixed with metals and natural materials. After that,
they lit a fire until the statue solidifies and takes th

Who Invented the Trinity?

Who Invented the Trinity?

1-How the concept of the Trinity was introduced into the Christian doctrine.
2-How the injected doctrine of the trinity remained part of the beliefs of the
Christians and how Islam defines God.

What is the source of the Christian concept of the Trinity?
The three monotheistic religions - Judaism, Christianity, and Islam - all
purport to share one fundamental concept: belief in God as the Supreme Being,
the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe. Known as "tawhid" in Islam, this
concept of the Oneness of God was stressed by Moses in a Biblical passage known
as the "Shema", or the Jewish creed of faith:

"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord." (Deuteronomy 6:4)

It was repeated word-for-word approximately 1500 years later by Jesus, when he
said:

"...The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God is
one Lord." (Mark 12:29)

Muhammad came along approximately 600 years later, bringing the same message
again:

"And your God is One God: there is no God but He..." (Quran 2:163)

Christianity has digressed from the concept of the Oneness of God, however,
into a vague and mysterious doctrine that was formulated during the fourth
century. This doctrine, which continues to be a source of controversy both
within and outside the Christian religion, is known as the Doctrine of the
Trinity. Simply put, the Christian doctrine of the Trinity states that God is
the union of three divine persons - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit -
in one divine being.

If that concept, put in basic terms, sounds confusing, the flowery language in
the actual text of the doctrine lends even more mystery to the matter:

"...we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity... for there is one
Person of the Father, another of the Son, another of the Holy Ghost is all
one... they are not three gods, but one God... the whole three persons are
co-eternal and co-equal... he therefore that will be saved must thus think of
the Trinity..." (excerpts from the Athanasian Creed)

Let's put this together in a different form: one person, God the Father, plus
one person, God the Son, plus one person, God the Holy Ghost, equals one
person, God the What? Is this English or is this gibberish?

It is said that Athanasius, the bishop who formulated this doctrine, confessed
that the more he wrote on the matter, the less capable he was of clearly
expressing his thoughts regarding it.

How did such a confusing doctrine get its start?

Trinity in the Bible
References in the Bible to a Trinity of divine beings are vague, at best.

In Matthew 28:19, we find Jesus telling his disciples to go out and preach to
all nations. While this "Great Commission" does make mention of the three
persons who later become components of the Trinity, the phrase "...baptizing
them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" is quite
clearly an addition to Biblical text - that is, not the actual words of Jesus -
as can be seen by two factors:

1)baptism in the early Church, as discussed by Paul in his letters, was
done only in the name of Jesus; and

2)the "Great Commission" was found in the first gospel written, that of
Mark, bears no mention of Father, Son and/or Holy Ghost - see Mark 16:15.

The only other reference in the Bible to a Trinity can be found in the Epistle
of 1 John 5:7. Biblical scholars of today, however, have admitted that the
phrase:

"...there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the
Holy Ghost: and these three are one"

...is definitely a "later addition" to Biblical text, and it is not found in
any of today's versions of the Bible.

It can, therefore, be seen that the concept of a Trinity of divine beings was
not an idea put forth by Jesus or any other prophet of God. This doctrine, now
subscribed to by Christians all over the world, is entirely man-made in origin.

The Doctrine Takes Shape
While Paul of Tarsus, the man who could rightfully be considered the true
founder of Christianity, did formulate many of its doctrines, that of the
Trinity was not among them. He did, however, lay the groundwork for such when
he put forth the idea of Jesus being a "divine Son". After all, a Son does
need a Father, and what about a vehicle for God's revelations to man? In
essence, Paul named the principal players, but it was the later Church people
who put the matter together.

Tertullian, a lawyer and presbyter of the third-century Church in Carthage, was
the first to use the word "Trinity" when he put forth the theory that the Son
and the Spirit participate in the being of God, but all are of one being of
substance with the Father.

A Formal Doctrine is Drawn Up
When controversy over the matter of the Trinity blew up in 318 between two
church men from Alexandria - Arius, the deacon, and Alexander, his bishop -
Emperor Constantine stepped into the fray.

Although Christian dogma was a complete myste

Women's Rights in Islam

Women's Rights in Islam

Islam is the sole religion that gave women her rights, these are so many and
recorded in the Quran verses and the traditional sayings of the prophet, these
rights are condensed in points here as holy texts, if all written, will take
many pages.

Equality between man and women

Islam acquits Eve from the original Sin which lived through generation
and women have to bear it. In Quran God has remitted this sin the moment it was
committed.

Women have the same spiritual status as men in the eye of God.

Female Embryo's rights

A female embryo, like a male embryo, should be guarded against hereditary
disease.

Females' rights in infantry

While in other religions the birth of a female is not always welcome, the
birth of a female is celebrated in Islam.

Females like males should be given beautiful names.

Females like males are to be given love while still children without any
preference of one sex over another as stated in the prophet's hadith.

Islam is against denigrating females in any way especially killing them
during their infantry- an old custom practiced by the pagan Arabs.

Rights of Females over Parents

Females are to receive the due care and be brought up in the best way(
God's reward for this is shielding parents against the hellfire and raising
their ranks high up to that of the prophet as stated in the hadiths). Even
Female slaves are to be taught, this is doubly rewarded by God.

Teaching females is mandatory in Islam.

A female(married or unmarried) has the right to inherit her father,
mother, husband , her children, sisters and daughters( Note that Females in
Judeo-Christianity inherit only from their parents in case no brothers are
found)

A female is not to be killed in wars.

A female chastity is to be given high care.

Parents should not favor sons over daughters

A woman has the right to argue with men even with the prophet himself.

Women are equal to men as stated in the hadith" Women are sisters to men."

A woman, just like a man, can give someone the right of refuge and
security among the Muslims.

Rights of Wives

A female has the right to choose her husband.

A wife has the right to manage her property and the husband should not
take any of her property.

A wife is not responsible for spending on her family, it is not allowed
for a husband to take a penny from her property.

A wife has the full right to her dowry ( The husband is not to take any
from it )

A wife can divorce herself if she doesn't like her husband.

A husband is responsible for feeding, dwelling, taking the utmost care of
his wife to the extent that raising a piece of bread to a wife's mouth will be
rewarded by God)

A wife should be given her full right in bed and even such an act is
rewarded by God because the husband and the wife are sinners if they commit
adultery.

During menses, contrary to the holy Book, a woman can live among her
family members and whoever touches her remains clean.

The best among the Muslims are those who are good to their wives.

As a Mother

To show how important is the obedience of mothers the prophet says
"paradise is under the feet of mothers."

Though both the father and the mother are to be given the utmost care, a
mother should be always at the top priority.

Mothers should always be given due care from her children

A son must not prefer his wife to his mother under any circumstances.

A Muslim should ask for his parent permission before joining the Muslim
army, which is engaged in fighting.

Caring about parents is more preferred to fighting in the cause of God,
if they are old and need care.

A mother, like father, is to be given the utmost care and be obeyed even
if she is not a Muslim.

The rights of the divorced woman in Islam

The Faith of Islam has ordained certain financial and social obligations
in the event of divorce, so as to discourage people from resorting to it.

Islam ordains that when a man divorces his wife, he must pay her the
delayed dowry agreed upon in the marriage contract, in addition to the expense
of her maintenance of food, drink and living quarters for a certain period of
time, known as the " iddat ".

The custody of the children is granted to the mother until they grow up.
In the event of her death or inability to look after her children, the custody
of her children is granted to her relations.

The husband is legally and religiously charged with his children's
financial maintenance, and for wet nurses to breast feed them even if their
mother breast feeds them herself, as is stated in the following Quranic verse
"And if they suckle your (offspring) give them their recompense "[1][12]

ISLAM and the AIM of LIFE

2013-02-14 Thread BV BV
ISLAM and the AIM of LIFE
What is your purpose in life? What is the rationale behind our life?
Why do we live in this life? These questions frequently intrigue
people who try to find accurate answers.
People provide different answers to these questions. Some people
believe the purpose of life is to accumulate wealth. But one may
wonder: What is the purpose of life after one has collected colossal
amounts of money? What then? What will the purpose be once money is
gathered? If the purpose of life is to gain money, there will be no
purpose after becoming wealthy. And in fact, here lies the problem of
some disbelievers or misbelievers at some stage of their life, when
collecting money is the target of their life. When they have collected
the money they dreamt of, their life loses its purpose. They suffer
from the panic of nothingness and they live in tension and
restlessness.
Can Wealth Be an Aim?
We often hear of a millionaire committing suicide, sometimes, not the
millionaire himself but his wife, son, or daughter. The question that
poses itself is: Can wealth bring happiness to one’s life? In most
cases the answer is NO. Is the purpose of collecting wealth a standing
purpose? As we know, the five-year old child does not look for wealth:
a toy for him is equal to a million dollars. The eighteen-year old
adolescent does not dream of wealth because he is busy with more
important things. The ninety-year old man does not care about money;
he is worried more about his health. This proves that wealth cannot be
a standing purpose in all the stages of the individual's life.
Wealth can do little to bring happiness to a disbeliever, because he/
she is not sure about his fate. A disbeliever does not know the
purpose of life. And if he has a purpose, this purpose is doomed to be
temporary or self destructive.
What is the use of wealth to a disbeliever if he feels scared of the
end and skeptical of everything. A disbeliever may gain a lot of
money, but will surely lose himself.
Worshipping Allah as an Aim
On the contrary, faith in Allah gives the believer the purpose of life
that he needs. In Islam, the purpose of life is to worship Allah. The
term "Worship" covers all acts of obedience to Allah.
The Islamic purpose of life is a standing purpose. The true Muslim
sticks to this purpose throughout all the stages of his life, whether
he is a child, adolescent, adult, or an old man.
Worshipping Allah makes life purposeful and meaningful, especially
within the framework of Islam. According to Islam this worldly life is
just a short stage of our life. Then there is the other life. The
boundary between the first and second life is the death stage, which
is a transitory stage to the second life. The type of life in the
second stage a person deserves depends on his deeds in the first life.
At the end of the death stage comes the day of judgment. On this day,
Allah rewards or punishes people according to their deeds in the first
life.
The First Life as an Examination
So, Islam looks at the first life as an examination of man. The death
stage is similar to a rest period after the test, i. e. after the
first life. The Day of Judgment is similar to the day of announcing
the results of the examinees. The second life is the time when each
examinee enjoys or suffers from the outcome of his behavior during the
test period.
In Islam, the line of life is clear, simple, and logical: the first
life, death, the Day of Judgment, and then the second life. With this
clear line of life, the Muslim has a clear purpose in life. The Muslim
knows he is created by Allah. Muslims know they are going to spend
some years in this first life, during which they have to obey God,
because God will question them and hold them responsible for their
public or private deeds, because Allah knows about all the deeds of
all people. The Muslim knows that his deeds in the first life will
determine the type of second life they will live in. The Muslim knows
that this first life is a very short one, one hundred years, more or
less, whereas the second life is an eternal one.
The Eternity of the Second Life
The concept of the eternity of the second life has a tremendous effect
on a Muslims during their first life, because Muslims believe that
their first life determines the shape of their second life. In
addition, this determines the shape of their second life and this
determination will be through the Judgment of Allah, the All just and
Almighty.
With this belief in the second life and the Day of Judgment, the
Muslim's life becomes purposeful and meaningful. Moreover, the
Muslim's standing purpose is to go to Paradise in the second life.
In other words, the Muslim's permanent purpose is to obey Allah, to
submit to Allah, to carry out His orders, and to keep in continues
contact with Him through prayers (five times a day), through fasting
(one month a year), through charity (as often as possible), and
through pilgrimage (once in one's life).
The Need for a Permanent Purp

The Quran...A Book You Can Believe In

We invite you to take a few minutes to learn something about a book
that is the foundation of the worldwide & culture of almost one-fourth
of
the people on this planet.

The Quran A book you can believe in

The Quran is the most often-read book in the world. Revealed by God to
the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the 7th century, and
revered by Muslims being God's final Scripture and Testament; its
words have been lovingly recited, memorized, and implemented by
Muslims Of every nationality ever since.

The faithful are inspired, consoled often moved to tears by its
eloquence and poetic imagery, especially when recited aloud. And yet,
the Qur'an is unique in being the only Scripture that is free of
scientific inaccuracies, whose historical authenticity can be
verified, and whose text has been so carefully preserved that just one
authorized version (in Arabic) exists. Approximately the length of the
New Testament, the Qur'an is also the only holy book that can be
memorized in its entirety by people of all ages and intellectual
abilities including non Arabic speakers, which Muslims consider to be
one of its miracles. We invite you to take a few minutes to learn
something about a book that is the foundation of the worldview and
culture of almost one-fourth of the people on this planet.

A Scientific Scripture for a scientific age

One of the most remarkable things about the Qur'an is that it contains
many verses which accurately describe natural phenomena in various
fields such as embryology, astronomy, geology and oceanography.
Scientists have found its descriptions to be inexplicably valid for a
book dating from the 6th century, in fact, many of the processes and
functions mentioned in the Qur'an have been discovered only recently.
This fact alone has been the cause of a number of distinguished
scientists embracing Islam. It never arose in Islam; the Qur'an
repeatedly encourages people to reflect and use their intelligence,
and most Muslim scientists and inventors have also been pious
believers.

Some of the Qur'an's 'scientific' verses include an accurate
description of embryonic development during the first forty days of
life; an explanation that the roots of mountains are like pegs which
help to anchor and stabilize the earth's crust, that a natural barrier
exists wherever two seas meet (each maintains its own salinity,
temperature and density); that waves occur in layers in the depths of
the ocean; that the heavens and earth were first joined together
before being split apart; and that the heavens emerged from "smoke',
i, e, the gases and dust that characterize nebulas as stars are
forming.

The Qur'an was never meant to be a 'science textbook'; whether
highlighting the wonders of nature or the lessons of history, its
verses direct us to reflect on the glory of God, However, no other
ancient book or Scripture is accurate in this way, Muslims believe
that this is one of the Qur'an's proofs; one of the things that makes
it a credible, ' living revelation' for a modern age, and allows it to
reveal itself afresh with passing time.

The Qur'an and the development of knowledge

The word 'Qur'an' means 'recitation'. And the first verse; of the!
Qur'an to be revealed by the Angel Gabriel to the prophet Muhammad was
a command to {Read! In the name of your Lord...}

{اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ...}

Transliteration: Iqra biismi rabbika
This directive to a man who, like most people of the time, could
neither read nor write; marked the beginning of a new age in human
communication, learning, and development. Whereas earlier Scriptures
had been written and passed down by elite circles of priests and
scribes usually long after the death of the religion's founder the
preservation of the Qur'an was a community effort from the beginning,
and it was completed during the Prophet Muhammad's own lifetime. The
Prophet's early followers eagerly memorized and recorded each new
revelation as it was revealed: by the time he passed away, thousands
had memorized the entire Qur'an by heart. Within two years after the
Prophet's death, the first caliph Abu Bakr requested the Prophet's
secretary Zayd to collect all existing copies and fragments of the
Qur'an in one place, in order to compile a standard edition. This
manuscript became the basis for the authorized editions that were
distributed to each Muslim province during the rule of 'Uthman (the
third caliph): remarkably, a few of those early manuscripts have been
preserved and can still be viewed in museums today.

Following the example of the beloved Prophet, who encouraged all
Muslims, male and female, to seek beneficial knowledge, mosques became
centers of learning as well as prayer. The concept of universal, free
basic education originated in Islam; children learned to read, write,
memorize the Qur'an and do basic maths at village mosque schools;
bright students were sent to cities to pursue higher education. The
world's first univers

???????? DID MUHAMMAD AUTHOR THE QURAN

2013-05-02 Thread BV BV
DID MUHAMMAD AUTHOR THE QURAN?

Did Muhammad Author the Quran?

Who authored the Quran? Someone must have produced it! After all, how
many desert men have stood up in the history of man and given the
world a book like the Quran? The book has amazing details of past
nations, prophets, and religions as well as accurate scientific
information unavailable at the time. What was the source of all this?
If we were to deny the divine origin of the Quran, we are left with
only a few possibilities:

- The Prophet Muhammad authored it himself.

- He took it from someone else. In this case, he either took it from
a Jew or a Christian or one of the foreigners in Arabia. The Meccans
did not bother to accuse him of having taken it from one of them.

A brief response from God is:

“And they say, ‘Legends of the former peoples which he has written
down, and they are dictated to him morning and afternoon.’ Say, [O
Muhammad], ‘It has been revealed by He who knows [every] secret within
the heavens and the earth. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving and
Merciful.’” (Quran 25:5-6)

It was well known to his detractors that Muhammad, who was raised
among them, never learned how to read or write from the time of his
birth. They knew whom he befriended and where he had traveled; they
acknowledged his integrity and honesty by calling him ‘Al-Ameen,’ the
Reliable, the Trustworthy, the Honest.[1] Only in their revulsion
against his preaching did they accuse him – and then it was anything
they could dream up: He was accused of being a sorcerer, a poet and
even an imposter! They could not make up their minds. God says:

“Look how they strike for you comparisons; but they have strayed, so
they cannot [find] a way.” (Quran 17:47)

Simply, God is aware of what is in the heavens and the earth, He knows
the past and the present, and reveals the truth to His prophet.

Could Muhammad Have Authored It?

It is impossible that Muhammad could have authored the Quran due to
the following reasons:

First, several occasions presented themselves where he could have
fabricated revelation. For example, after the first revelation came,
people awaited to hear more, but the Prophet did not receive anything
new for months. The Meccans began making fun of him, ‘His Lord has
abandoned him!’ This continued until the 93rd chapter, Ad-Doha, was
revealed. The Prophet could have compiled something and presented it
as the latest revelation to end the mockery, but he did not. Also, at
one point during his prophethood, some of the hypocrites accused his
beloved wife Aisha of being unchaste. The Prophet could have easily
fabricated something to free her of blame, but he waited for many
excruciating days, all spent in pain, mockery, and anguish, until
revelation came from God freeing her from the accusation.

Second, there is internal evidence within the Quran that Muhammad was
not its author. Several verses criticized him, and were on occasion
strongly worded. How can an imposter prophet blame himself when it may
run him into the danger of losing the respect, perhaps following, of
his followers? Here are some examples:

“O Prophet! Why do you prohibit [yourself from] what God has made
lawful for you, seeking the approval of your wives? And God is
Forgiving and Merciful.” (Quran 66:1)

“…while you concealed within yourself that which God is to disclose
and you feared the people, while God has more right that you fear
Him..” (Quran 33:43)

“It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask
forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were relatives, after it
has become clear to them that they are companions of Hellfire.” (Quran
9:113)

“But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] while he fears
[God], from him you are distracted. No! Indeed, they [these verses]
are a reminder.” (Quran 80:8-11)

If he were to hide anything, he would have hid these verses, but he
recited them faithfully.

“And he [Muhammad] is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.
And it [the Quran] is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the
heavens]. So where are you going? It is nothing but a reminder to
the worlds.” (Quran 81:24-27)

The Prophet is cautioned, perhaps warned, in the following verses:

“Indeed, We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth so
you may judge between the people by that which God has shown you. And
do not be an advocate for the deceitful. And seek forgiveness of God.
Indeed, God is ever Forgiving and Merciful. And do not argue on behalf
of those who deceive themselves. Indeed, God loves not the one who is
a habitually sinful deceiver. They conceal [their evil intentions and
deeds] from the people, but they cannot conceal [them] from God, and
He is with them [in His knowledge] when they spend the night in such
as He does not accept of speech. And God ever is encompassing of what
they do,. Here you are – those who argue on their behalf in [this]
worldly life – but who will argue with God for them on the Day of

CONCEPT OF GOD IN ISLAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2012-01-25 Thread BV
CONCEPT OF GOD IN ISLAM

Sorry for not sending anything related to this group but it might be
something new to you.
CONCEPT OF GOD IN ISLAM
It is a known fact that every language has one or more terms that are
used in reference to God and sometimes to lesser deities. This is not
the case with Allah. Allah is the personal name of the One true God.
Nothing else can be called Allah. The term has no plural or gender.
This shows its uniqueness when compared with the word god which can be
made plural, gods, or feminine, goddess. It is interesting to notice
that Allah is the personal name of God in Aramaic, the language of
Jesus and a sister language of Arabic. The One true God is a
reflection of the unique concept that Islam associates with God. To a
Muslim, Allah is the Almighty, Creator and Sustainer of the universe,
Who is similar to nothing and nothing is comparable to Him. The
Prophet Muhammad was asked by his contemporaries about Allah; the
answer came directly from God Himself in the form of a short chapter
of the Quran, which is considered the essence of the unity or the
motto of monotheism. This is chapter 112 which reads:

"In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate. Say (O Muhammad)
He is God the One God, the Everlasting Refuge, who has not begotten,
nor has been begotten, and equal to Him is not anyone."

Some non Muslims allege that God in Islam is a stern and cruel God who
demands to be obeyed fully. He is not loving and kind. Nothing can be
farther from truth than this allegation. It is enough to know that,
with the exception of one, each of the 114 chapters of the Quran
begins with the verse: "In the name of God, the Merciful, the
Compassionate." In one of the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) we
are told that "God is more loving and kinder than a mother to her dear
child." But God is also Just. Hence evildoers and sinners must have
their share of punishment and the virtuous, His bounties and favors.
Actually God’s attribute of Mercy has full manifestation in His
attribute of Justice. People suffering throughout their lives for His
sake and people oppressing and exploiting other people all their lives
should not receive similar treatment from their Lord. Expecting
similar treatment for them will amount to negating the very belief in
the accountability of man in the Hereafter and thereby negating all
the incentives for a moral and virtuous life in this world. The
following Quranic verses are very clear and straightforward in this
respect:

"Verily, for the Righteous are gardens of Delight, in the Presence of
their Lord. Shall We then treat the people of Faith like the people of
Sin? What is the matter with you? How judge you?" (68:34-36)

Islam rejects characterizing God in any human form or depicting Him as
favoring certain individuals or nations on the basis of wealth, power
or race. He created the human beings as equals. They may distinguish
themselves and get His favor through virtue and piety only. The
concept that God rested in the seventh day of creation, that God
wrestled with one of His soldiers, that God is an envious plotter
against mankind, or that God is incarnate in any human being are
considered blasphemy from the Islamic point of view. The unique usage
of Allah as a personal name of God is a reflection of Islam’s emphasis
on the purity of the belief in God which is the essence of the message
of all God’s messengers. Because of this, Islam considers associating
any deity or personality with God as a deadly sin which God will never
forgive, despite the fact He may forgive all other sins.
The Creator must be of a different nature from the things created
because if he is of the same nature as they are, he will be temporal
and will therefore need a maker. It follows that nothing is like Him.
If the maker is not temporal, then he must be eternal. But if he is
eternal, he cannot be caused, and if nothing outside him causes him to
continue to exist, which means that he must be Self-Sufficient. And if
He does not depend on anything for the continuance of His own
existence, then this existence can have no end. The Creator is

EXAMPLES OF PROPHET’S MERCY UPON NON MUSLIMS

Ex. No. (1)

It was narrated that ‘Aisha, May Allah be pleased with her, said to
the Prophet, Peace be upon him: "Have you ever come across a day
harder than the day ofUhod (one of the battles with the polytheists,
in which Muslims were defeated failing to comply with the Prophet's
instructions)?" He replied: "I have suffered from your people a lot.
The hardest I suffered was on the day of Akaba (a place name). I
brought out my message to Abd Yaleil bin Abd Kalal. He did not respond
positively to what I called him for. I left there with a grief-
stricken face. I did not wake up from that feeling, until I was near
Karn-Ath-Tha-aleb (a place name). I raised my head, where I found a
cloud casting its shadow over me. Upon looking, I saw Jibril (the
angel) into it. He called upon me: Allah (the Almighty) has heard the
saying of your people, and what kind of reply they gave to you. Allah
has sent the angel of the mountains for you ready to do with them
whatever you ask. The angel of the mountains called, and saluted me
saying: "Oh Muhammad, what I do will be as you request. If you want, I
close the two mountains on them?" The Prophet, Peace be upon him,
replied: "Instead of that, I am hoping that Allah (the Al mighty) will
create from their offspring people who worship Allah alone, without
ascribing partners unto Him" narrated by Al Bukhari.

Ex. No. (2):

It was narrated that Ibn-Omar (the son of Omar), May Allah be pleased
with both of them, said that after one of the battles of the Prophet
PBUH, a woman was found killed. In response, the Prophet PBUH
prohibited the killing of women and children. Narrated by Al Bukhari.

Ex. No. (3):

Anas-bin-Malek, May Allah be pleased with him, said:
A Jewish youth who served the Prophet, Peace be upon him, became ill,
and the Prophet paid him a visit. The Prophet, peace be upon him, sat
near the youth's head, and he spoke to him saying: "Embrace Islam".
The youth averted his eyes towards his father, who was also beside
him. The father told his son: "ObeyAbal-Kassem (one of the common
names of the Prophet PBUH)". The youth embraced Islam (before dying),
and the Prophet, peace be upon him, went out saying: "Thanks to Allah
(the Almighty) Who rescued him from hellfire." narrated by Al Bukhari.

Ex. No. (4):

Abdullah Ibn-Amr, May Allah be pleased with both, reported that the
Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
"He who kills a promisor (a non-Muslim living among Muslims where he
is promised to have protection, and he promises not to help enemies
against Muslims, hence, he is called 'a promisor'), will not smell the
fragrance of paradise, though its fragrance is recognizable from a
distance of forty years." narrated by Al Bukhari.

Ex. No. (5):

Boraida-bin-Al-Hosaib reported that when the Prophet, peace be upon
him, delegated a prince to lead an army or a small army, he advised
him, and Muslims with him, to be devoted to Allah, and to act to the
common good. Then, he said: "Your battle should be in the name of
Allah, and for His sake. Fight disbelievers. Fight, but don't
exaggerate, don't cheat, don't mutilate, don't kill a new-born child.
If you meet your enemies of polytheists call them for one of three
options. Whatever they take, you must accept, and stop fighting them.
Call them to Islam. If they take it, accept, and stop fighting them.
Then call them to transfer from their home to the home of immigrants
(Al Madina, or Hijra house, where all Muslims, at the start of Islam
gathered). Tell them if they do so, they will have the same rights and
duties of the immigrants. If, however, their choice was not to
transfer from home, their status will be the same as the Muslim
Bedouins (away in the desert), by the command of Allah not having the
right for spoils or almsgiving unless they join holy war (Jihad)
beside other Muslims. If they refused (Islam) ask them to pay the
tribute (tax taken from non-Muslims for protection). If they gave a
positive reply, accept that, and stop fighting them. If they refused,
seek the help of Allah, and fight them. If you lay a siege around a
fortress, and they ask to have the warranty of Allah and the warranty
of his Messenger, do not give them the warranty of Allah and the
warranty of his Messenger. But give them your warranty and the
warranty of your companions. Observing your warranty and the warranty
of your companions will be easier than observing the warranty of Allah
and the warranty of his Messenger. If you lay a siege around a
fortress, and its people ask to be brought down to thejudgement of
Allah, don't bring them down to the judgement of Allah. But, bring
them down to your own judgement, since; you never know whether
yourjudgement will be the same as the right judgement of Allah about
them or not." narrated by Muslim.

Ex. No. (6):

Abu Huraira, May Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet,
Peace be upon him, delegated some horsemen to a place called Najd .

MAJOR CANADIAN CHRISTIAN MISSIONARY CONVERTS TO ISLAM
By: Dr Garry Miller:
A very important Christian missionary converted to Islam and became a
major herald for Islam, he was a very active missionary and was very
knowledgeable about the Bible...

This man likes mathematics so much, that's why he likes logic. One
day, he decided to read the Quran to try to find any mistakes that he
might take advantage of while inviting Muslims to convert to
Christianity He expected the Koran to be an old book written 14
centuries ago, a book that talks about the desert and so on...He was
amazed from what he found. He discovered that this Book had what no
other book in the world has He expected to find some stories about
the hard time that the Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) had, like
the death of his wife Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) or the
death of his sons and daughters...however, he did not find anything
like that... and what made him even more confused is that he found a
full "sura"(chapter) in the Koran named "Mary" that contains a lot of
respect to Mary(peace be upon her) which is not the case even in the
books written by Christians nor in their bibles.
He did not find a Sura named after "Fatimah"(the prophet's daughter)
nor "Aa’ishah"(the Prophet's wife), may Allah(God) be pleased with
both of them. He also found that the name of Jesus(Peace Be Upon Him)
was mentioned in the Koran 25 times while the name of "Mohammed"(Peace
Be Upon Him) was mentioned only 4 times, so he became more confused.
He started reading the Koran more thoroughly hoping to find a mistake
but he was shocked when he read a great verse which is verse number 82
in Surat Al-Nisa'(Women) that says:

“Do they not consider the Koran (with care)? Had it been from other
than Allah, they would surely have found therein much discrepancy”.

Dr Miller says about this verse: “ One of the well known scientific
principles is the principle of finding mistakes or looking for
mistakes in a theory until it’s proved to be right (Falsification Test)
…what’s amazing is that the Holy Quran asks Muslims and non-muslims to
try to find mistakes in this book and it tells them that they will
never find any”. He also says about this verse: no writer in the world
has the courage to write a book and say that it’s empty of mistakes,
but the Quran, on the contrary, tells you that it has no mistakes and
asks you to try to find one and you won’t find any.

Another verse that Dr Miller reflected on for a long time is the verse
number 30 in Surat “Al-Anbiya’”(The Prophets): “ Do not the
Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together
(as one unit of Creation), before We clove them asunder? We made from
water every living thing. Will they not then believe?”

He says: “ This verse is exactly the subject of the scientific
research that won the Noble prize in 1973 and was about the theory of
the “Great Explosion”. According to this theory, the universe was the
result of a great explosion that leads to the formation of the
universe with its skies and planets”.

Dr Miller says: “ Now we come to what’s amazing about the Prophet
Mohammed (PBUH) and what’s pretended about the devils helping him, God
says: “No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation), it would
neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). Indeed they
have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing
it” (26:210-212). “When thou do read the Quran, seek Allah's
protection from Satan the Rejected One” (16:98).

You see? can this be the devil’s way to write a book? how can he write
a book then tells you to ask God for protection from this devil before
reading that book? those are miraculous verses in this miraculous
book! and has a logical answer to those who pretend that it’s from the
devil”. And among the stories that amazed Dr Miller is the story of
the Prophet (PBUH) with Abu-Lahab… Dr Miller says: “ This man (Abu
Lahab) used to hate Islam so much that he would go after the Prophet
wherever he goes to humiliate him. If he saw the prophet talking to
strangers, he used to wait till he finishes and then ask them: what
did Mohammed tell you? If he said it’s white then it’s in reality
black and if he said it’s night then it’s day. He meant to falsify all
what the prophet says and to make people suspicious about it. And 10
years before the death of Abu Lahab, a sura was inspired to the
prophet, named “Al-Masad”. This sura tells that Abu Lahab will go to
hell, in other words, it says that Abu Lahab will not convert to
Islam. During 10 years, Abu Lahab could have said: “Mohammed is saying
that I will not become a Muslim and that I will go to the hell fire,
but I’m telling you now that I want to convert to Islam and become a
Muslim. What do you think about Mohammed now? Is he saying the truth
or no? Does his inspiration come from God?”
But Abu Lahab did not do that at all although he was disobeying the
prophet in all matters, but not in this one. In other words, it wa

YOU MUST KNOW THIS MAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2011-11-24 Thread BV
In The Name Of Allah,
Most Gracious, Most Merciful
YOU MUST KNOW THIS MAN
MUHAMMAD

You may be an atheist or an agnostic; or you may belong to anyone of
the religious denominations that exist in the world today. You may be
a Communist or a believer in democracy and freedom. No matter what you
are, and no matter what your religious and political beliefs, personal
and social habits happen to be - YOU MUST STILL KNOW THIS MAN!
He was by far the most remarkable man that ever set foot on this
earth. He preached a religion, founded a state, built a nation, laid
down a moral code, initiated numberless social and political reforms,
established a dynamic and powerful society to practice and represent
his teachings, and completely revolutionized the worlds of human
thought and action for all times to come.
HIS NAME IS MUHAMMAD, peace and blessings of Almighty God be upon him
and he accomplished all these wonders in the unbelievably short span
of twenty-three years.
Muhammad, peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him was born in
Arabia on the 20th of August, in the year 570 of the Christian era,
and when he died after 63 years, the whole of the Arabian Peninsula
had changed from paganism and idol-worship to the worship of One God;
from tribal quarrels and wars to national solidarity and cohesion;
from drunkenness and debauchery to sobriety and piety; from
lawlessness and anarchy to disciplined living; from utter moral
bankruptcy to the highest standards of moral excellence. Human history
has never known such a complete transformation of a people or a place
before or since!
The Encyclopedia Britannica calls him "the most successful of all
religious personalities of the world". Bernard Shaw said about him
that if Muhammad were alive today he would succeed in solving all
those problems which threaten to destroy human civilization in our
times. Thomas Carlysle was simply amazed as to how one man, single-
handedly, could weld warring tribes and wandering Bedouins into a most
powerful and civilized nation in less than two decades. Napoleon and
Gandhi never tired of dreaming of a society along the lines
established by this man in Arabia fourteen centuries ago.
Indeed no other human being ever accomplished so much, in such diverse
fields of human thought and behavior, in so limited a space of time,
as did Muhammad, peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him. He
was a religious teacher, a social reformer, a moral guide, a political
thinker, a military genius, an administrative colossus, a faithful
friend, a wonderful companion, a devoted husband, a loving father -
all in one. No other man in history ever excelled or equaled him in
any of these difficult departments of life.
The world has had its share of great personalities. But these were one
sided figures who distinguished themselves in but one or two fields
such as religious thought or military leadership. None of the other
great leaders of the world ever combined in himself so many different
qualities to such an amazing level of perfection as did Muhammad,
peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon him.
The lives and teachings of other great personalities of the world are
shrouded in the mist of time. There is so much speculation about the
time and the place of their birth, the mode and style of their life,
the nature and detail of their teachings and the degree and measure of
their success or failure that it is impossible for humanity today to
reconstruct accurately and precisely the lives and teachings of those
men.
Not so this man Muhammad, peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon
him. Not only was he born in the fullest blaze of recorded history,
but every detail of his private and public life, of his actions and
utterances, has been accurately documented and faithfully preserved to
our day. The authenticity of the information so preserved is vouched
for not only by faithful followers but also by unbiased critics and
open-minded scholars.
At the level of ideas there is no system of thought and belief-secular
or religious, social or political-which could surpass or equal ISLAM-
the system which Muhammad peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon
him propounded. In a fast changing world, while other systems have
undergone profound transformations, Islam alone has remained above all
change and mutation, and retained its original form for the past 1400
years. What is more, the positive changes that are taking place in the
world of human thought and behavior, truly and consistently reflect
the healthy influence of Islam in these areas. Further, it is not
given to the best of thinkers to put their ideas completely into
practice, and to see the seeds of their labors grow and bear fruit, in
their own lifetime. Except of course, Muhammad, peace and blessings of
God Almighty be upon him, who not only preached the most wonderful
ideas but also successfully translated each one of them into practice
in his own lifetime. At the time of his death his teachings were n

A HOME OF TOLERANCE

A Home Of Tolerance Media speculation since the horrific terrorist
attacks on America has pointed the finger at Muslims and the Arab
world, and that has meant ordinary citizens of the US and other
Western countries becoming easy prey for anti-faith hooligans. Shame.
Sadly, the latest horror to hit the US looks to have been caused by
people of Middle Eastern origin, bearing Muslim names. Again, shame.
This fuels more hatred for a religion and a people who have nothing to
do with these events. This is why I want to explain some basic facts
about this noble way we call Islam, before, God forbid, another
disaster occurs - next time probably aimed at Muslims. I came to Islam
in my late 20s, during my searching period as a wandering pop star. I
found a religion that blended scientific reason with spiritual reality
in a unifying faith far removed from the headlines of violence,
destruction and terrorism. One of the first interesting things I
learned in the Koran was that the name of the faith comes from the
word salam - peace. Far from the kind of Turko-Arab-centric message I
expected, the Koran presented a belief in the universal existence of
God, one God for all. It does not discriminate against peoples; it
says we may be different colors and from different tribes, but we are
all human and "the best of people are the most God- conscious". Today,
as a Muslim, I have been shattered by the horror of recent events; the
display of death and indiscriminate killing we've all witnessed has
dented humanity's confidence in itself. Terror on this scale affects
everybody on this small planet, and no one is free from the fallout.
Yet we should remember that such violence is almost an everyday
occurrence in some Muslim lands: it should not be exacerbated by
revenge attacks on more innocent families and communities. Along with
most Muslims, I feel it a duty to make clear that such orchestrated
acts of incomprehensible carnage have nothing to do with the beliefs
of most Muslims. The Koran specifically declares: "If anyone murders
an (innocent) person, it will be as if he has murdered the whole of
humanity. And if anyone saves a person it will be as if he has saved
the whole of humanity." The Koran that our young people learn is full
of stories and lessons from the history of humanity as a whole. The
Gospels and the Torah are referred to; Jesus and Abraham are
mentioned. In fact there is more mention in the Koran of the prophet
Moses than of any other. It acknowledges the coexistence of other
faiths, and in doing so acknowledges that other cultures can live
together in peace. "There is no compulsion in religion," it states,
meaning that people should not be compelled to change their faith.
Elsewhere it states, "To you, your religion; to me mine." Respect for
religious values and justice is at the Koran's core. The Koranic
history we teach our young provides ample examples of inter-religious
and international relationships; of how to live together. But some
extremists take elements of the sacred **ures out of con. They
act as individuals, and when they can't come together as part of a
political structure or consultative process, you find these dissident
factions creating their own rules, contrary to the spirit of the Koran
- which demands that those recognized as being in charge of Muslims
must consult together regarding society's affairs. There is a whole
chapter in the Koran entitled Consultation. Communal well being is
central to human life, so there is a concept in Islam called Istihsan,
which means "to look for the common good". Even though the Koran may
lay down a diktat, scholars are also supposed to consider the
circumstances prevalent at the time. Sometimes that means choosing the
lesser of two evils or even suspending legislation if necessary: for
instance, a person who steals bread during a famine is not treated as
a thief. Once I wrote in a song, "Where do the children play?" Our
sympathy and thoughts go out to the families of all those who lost
their lives in this tragic act of violence, as well as all those
injured. But life must go on. Children still need to play, and people
need to live and learn more about their neighbors so that ignorance
doesn't breed more blind fanaticism. Moderation is part of faith, so
those who accuse Muslim schools of fostering fanaticism should learn a
bit more about Islam. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Ruined
are those who insist on hardship in faith," and, "A believer remains
within the scope of his religion as long as he doesn't kill another
person illegally." Such knowledge and words of guidance are
desperately needed at this time, to separate fact from falsehood, and
to recognise the Last Prophet's own definition of that which makes a
person representative, or otherwise, of the faith he lived and the one
we try to teach. by Yusuf Islam (formerly the singer Cat Stevens)

THE EXPANSION OF THE UNIVERSE IN THE QURAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE EXPANSION OF THE UNIVERSE IN THE QURAN

What you are about to read might sound unusual but it could be very
enlightened

In 1929, in the California Mount Wilson observatory, an American
astronomer by the name of Edwin Hubble made one of the greatest
discoveries in the history of astronomy. While he observed the stars
with a giant telescope, he found out that the light from them was
shifted to the red end of the
spectrum and that this shift was more pronounced the further a star
was from the earth.
This discovery had an electrifying effect in the world of science,
because according to the recognized rules of physics, the spectra of
light beams traveling towards the point of observation tend towards
violet while the spectra of the light beams moving away from the point
of observation tend towards red. During Hubble’s observations, the
light from stars was discovered to tend towards red. This meant that
they were constantly moving away from us.

Long before, Hubble made another very important discovery: Stars and
galaxies moved away not only from us, but also from one another. The
only conclusion that could be derived from a universe where everything
moves away from everything else is that the universe constantly
‘expands’.

To better understand, the universe can be thought of as the surface of
a balloon being blown up. Just as the points on the surface of a
balloon move apart from each other as the balloon is inflated, so do
the objects in space move apart from each other as the universe keeps
expanding.

In fact, this had been theoretically discovered even earlier. Albert
Einstein, who is considered the greatest scientist of the century, had
concluded after the calculations he made in theoretical physics that
the universe could not be static.
However, he had laid his discovery to rest simply not to conflict with
the widely recognized static universe model of his time. Later on,
Einstein was to identify his act as ‘the greatest mistake of his
career’. Subsequently, it became definite by Hubble’s observations
that the universe expands.

What importance, then, did the fact that the universe expands have on
the existence of the universe? The expansion of the universe implied
that if it could travel backwards in time, the universe would prove to
have originated from a single point. The calculations showed that this
‘single point’ that harbored all the matter of the universe should
have ‘zero volume’ and ‘infinite density’. The universe had come about
by the explosion of this single point with zero volume. This great
explosion that marked the beginning of the universe was named the ‘Big
Bang’ and the theory started to be so called.

It has to be stated that ‘zero volume’ is a theoretical expression
used for de**ive purposes. Science can define the concept of
‘nothingness’, which is beyond the limits of human comprehension, only
by expressing it as a point with zero volume’. In truth, ‘a point with
no volume’ means ‘nothingness’. The universe has come into being from
nothingness. In other words, it was created.
The Big Bang theory showed that in the beginning all the objects in
the universe were of one piece and then were parted. This fact, which
was revealed by the Big Bang theory was stated in the Quran 14
centuries ago, when people had a very limited knowledge about the
universe; Allaah says (what means): "Have those who disbelieved not
considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We
separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they
not believe?" [Quran 21:30]

As stated in the verse, everything, even the ‘heavens and the earth’
that were not yet created, were created with a Big Bang out of a
single point, and shaped the present universe by being parted from
each other.

When we compare the statements in the verse with the Big Bang theory,
we see that they fully agree with each other. However, the Big Bang
was introduced as a scientific theory only in the 20th century.

The expansion of the universe is one of the most important pieces of
evidence that the universe was created out of nothing. Although this
fact was not discovered by science until the 20th century, Allaah has
informed us of this reality in the Quran (revealed 1,400 years ago)
saying (what means): " And the heaven We constructed with strength,
and indeed, We are [its expander."[Quran 51: 47]
