Posted this a couple of days back but have compleated some of the worksome balance(scroll down) o.k heres the "rough" project (its for a personals site): 1.Take user details (email, username, password, address date-of-birth etc), preview them, write to database, make a folder with the username of the user, send an email for confirmation. (*I finished coding this, you wont have to do this*) 2.user should be able to upload upto 5,pics each pic not more than 50 k,into particular folder. 3.User can delete any picture and add more 4.User can "tick" which pic they want to display and which not. (**Did this too) 5.there should be a quick look where when someone wants to join they click on "quick" look and they see photo with short description (Photo should be resized via program) eg: |- | | | Photo 1 | Part of description ... | | join to see full (Link) | | |- | | | Photo 2 | Part of description ... | | join to see full (Link) | | |- | | | Photo 3 | Part of description ... | | join to see full (Link) | | |- | | | Photo 4 | Part of description ... | | join to see full (Link) | | |- etc etc THATS IT! if you feel you can do it or have alredy done a similar project, write in, will respond with images etc, with my company website URL and my personal phone no if you want to talk about the work. [PHP] Read filename and good manual
Greetings All, Special greeting to all my new pals on the list, you know who you are. First let me tell you what i have done then what i need. I have made a program to upload a picture (gif or jpeg, for clearness lets call the picture "x.jpg") and then the page will change and a new page will display asking the user/client what kind of a picture was it (eg: cartoon/family pic/portfolio pic or adult pic) thats it. My doubt is here: In the second page I want to ask the client if "x.jpg" is the picture he/she uploaded. How do read the filename? I also want his filename in a hidden text field on the same page so that i may enter it into the database. Also can anybody recomend a good online manual for PHP, or a downloadable version with LOTS of GOOD examples. [PHP] I-worm/Klez and a GIF query/question
Hey all, Whah, talk about getting a response, I posted the I-Worm/Klez question hoping to get one or two replies of people who actually got infected..I got more than 40 replies! I got two more today, but one poor dude says he got around 149 and counting! Anyway, thanks for your replies guys/girls and for the URLs, but 'nuff about virus's back to PHP I got a client who want a simple registeration form (Which i can do without any problem...easy.) but he wants one extra bit: at the end of the form he wants a "key" gif...(A gif with a number) that is automatically generated and that number has to be entered into the text boxthe idea is that it prevents automaited registerations. Yahoo and a couple of other big sites/portals use it. For those of you who dont know what i am talking about and are curious to see an example, try registering for an account at yahoo mail or chat or something. I understand that the new version of PHP/GD or whatever does not support GIF and i also know for PNG or JPEG i can use LIBJPEG and LIBPNG (both are installed on my webhost) but how do i do it in GIF? (He insists on GIF- the clients a #@ his money helps pay the bills) Any ideas? and if any of you guys done anything similar, can give me the function/s or any help? ANY help appreciated and guys.please dont send me anything more about I-Worm/Klez...I apoligise about that. [PHP] simple array question (Am a Newbie kindly excuse.)
Greetings my PHP people. Will do things a bit backwork code first and what i want as that seems the easiest way to explain Here is the code: "); while(list($aa1,$aa2) = each ($a1)) { print($aa2 . ","); } ?> Which gives out the output: Tesing arrays: ryan1, ryan1.2, ryan2, ryan2.1.1.1.1.1, ryan3, ryan3.2, my question/problem is simply this: how do i stop the last comma from coming? because originally instead of giving the output to the browser i want it to "feed" it to a hidden form field, which i enter into the database Yeah yeah yeah, wipe the tears of laugher from your eyes and remember, you too were once a newbie. :-o) This list is great and i know i will get not one answer but many, thank you in advance. -Ryan A. -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php

[PHP] Newbie question to everybody....PHP
Greetings people, Special greetings to all of you who have helped me in the past. As most of you know i am a newbie, I learned a bit of PHP via webmonkey and a few other places, seeing the power of PHP i decided to convert from Java servlets and JSP (JSP coz its expensive to host and not many hosting opportunities) so I baught a book called "The PHP black book". Anyway, now that the background is done heres my questions: 1)How many of you have seriously dug into arrays and has it been important in your programming? 1.1)Do you think you could have done the same thing you did with arrays WITHOUT arrays? (The reason i ask this is theres a whole chapter dedicated to arrays in the book & its pretty frustrating) Last question: Is ther any function to make the program "sleep" for 10 seconds or so? or does anybody have a function that does this? ANY replies good, bad, flames will be welcome. [PHP] Is This Possible? (Database - PHP)
Hey there guys, I have a slight problem which i could not solve via Java servlets and now that I am migrating to PHP I was wondering if its possible... I am hosting with a company that has given me a database (MySql) I am using the database for all my apps which are only being accessed via my servlets... I want to change that and convert all my servlets to PHP. Being new to PHP i am sure to make a lot of mistakes and instead of uploading my PHP page, getting errors/ redoing it, uploading etc I was kinda hoping i could connect to the remote database via my local machine? I already have PHP installed on my machine. on the remote host the details are Localhost jimmy*** (Username) gunsand* (Password) umace_com (Database name) Is this possible? Hey, Why dont you just add a link to a script and validate it like that? eg: Click below to confirm you email id ** http://yoursite.tld/confirm.php?[EMAIL PROTECTED]&confirmno=5675678 ** Once you get the confirm id and no just check it within your database and flag it as true. Hi Guys and Girls, I have reciently set up PHPbb2 on our site, its great and no problems with the software but I am using frames so that a person can at any time jump out of the forum and came right back to the site but because of the frames the forum is pushed a lot to the right...(you have to scroll sideways to read everything) I know i hate when that happens if I visit a website and i'm pretty sure a lot of other people do too. [PHP] read last three letters
Hi PHP ppl, I have a directory named cartoons, it has around 180 files in them ONLY images, the filenames are 1.jpg, 2.jpg..5.gif, 6.gif etc etc if you got confused with the above line its basically all the files are numbered from 1-180 and the file types are mixed JPG and GIF. I have a program that displays each of the cartoons displays a <-- Prev * * * Next--> link, basicaly theres a hidden field that specifies the current number and if you click prev its c=c-1 and if your press next its c=c+1, but I have no idea if the next cartoon is either JPG or GIF and so am displaying both like so in my code: since only one is valid the other shows an ugly blank image placeholder graphic. Thanks in advance for ANY help on this, Have a great day, -Ryan. -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
[PHP] A small question - Mysql_insert_id
Hi, I am inserting a row into a table with this structure id (auto increment) name (varchar) hits (int) I am using insert into mytable values(NULL,'Ryan',90); Then according to the manual I have to use (to quote) "printf ("Last inserted record has id %d\n", mysql_insert_id());" will this return the row number or the "id" fields value..? If it returns the row number how do I get the ID number? The id started at 1500. Cheers, -Ryan. -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php

Hey Julie, Thanks for replying, Actually the ID field is not null, primary and auto_increment. Thanks for the URL but in my message I did quote the line from that same url (http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.mysql-insert-id.php) I just need to get the ID of the just inserted record. Any ideas? [PHP] Julie-> A small question - Mysql_insert_id
Hey Julie, Sorry, am not "f*cking" with you or anybody, just new to databases in PHP, I'm from a java servlet background and we dont have this kind of function there. I'm sorry if I offended you or made you think that I was pulling your leg, its just that after 7 hours of programming the manual looks mighty confusing even if the explanation is simplecomputers look confusing now;-) Am a newbie in PHP and a pure virgin in database programming using PHP, hope you understand. Hey dude, Yeah, I seem to have a talent for pissing people of unintentally, and Julie seemed to have gotten more than a little pissed at me. Anyway, the reason I didnt specify the type was that I was under the impression that if you have a auto_increment it has to be an integer...I mean you cant have a textand if you have a float/double like 2.23 what will it increment to? 2.24 or 3.23? just did not think of date, time. Guess she just had a bad day and I was the final straw...:) I kinda understood what you mean but not totally so am sending you the actual code used below. PROBLEM, Could not create account...ERROR: " . mysql_error() . "");} ?> What do you think? good, bad or ugly? Give me your comments/suggestions and if possible add the mysql_insert_id in the correct place and comment it so that I will know > Wow, Ryan, lovely reception you've gotten on this one. :-) > > Julie has a point (she needs some Prozac or xanex or something, but she has a point) in that the ID > field needs a type, either date/time, integer, or string of some sort... so you'd need to be more > specific than your original layout: > id (auto increment) > name (varchar) > hits (int) > > Something more along the lines of: > id INT NOT NULL UNSIGNED AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY, > name VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL, > hits INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT 0 > > or something like that, depending of course on how you want the table to behave. [PHP] Going Crazy Logic.
Hi PPL, Please see if you can solve this problem as its driving me crazy..its for a small affiliate program. I have a table with the folling structure: ** table stats(Id bigint,Month tinyint,Year int,Hits bigint) The client will be given a link like this ** http://mysite.com/affiliates/hit.php?id=155 then this will execute in the script (the connection part is done) ** update table stats set hits=hits+1 where Id=$Id and MONTH(now())=Month and YEAR(current_date)=Year /*The logic in the above is that I am updating "hits" by one only if "month" and "Year" match up, so I can track which affiliate has given me the most traffic, just 12 records for each client per year and excellient dynamic tracking..? */ but if the fields "Month" or "Year" do not match the update will not work and will not return anything right? so I want to execute this SQL then ** insert into stats values($Id,MONTH(now()),YEAR(CURRENT_DATE),1) Either i'm brain dead, tired, dumb, just overworked, or this one great problembut I cant figure it out.. Any help appreciated, thanks in advance. -Ryan. -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php

Sorry if this was not 100% clear. In a nutshell the app I'm making will be available for poeple to use. My feeling is that there will be users using shared servers, which under a stress tend to suck. Re: [PHP] Max Limit of post variables
I was making an aplication few months ago, and i had your same problems. I think that crash because the php file send to the client its to large, and the client machine dont have the necesary memory to suport that in the navigator. So i chanche my grid to one row of controls, and i put all the information in one html table. If i want to modify the one html table row, i have a link in that row, and automatic the information appear in the controls row and you can modify. So the controls row modify and insert information. The page will handle several hundred but it crashes with more. Is there a limit to the number of variables that can be sent post. Or is it possible I am violating some html tag rules and the browser does not have a too much problem with the few hundred post variables. [PHP] need help with while loop/rtf generator page
hi all i'm having trouble with the this page. not sure if i'm approaching the problem the right way. i'm basically passing search criteria to a page. i'm using the search criteria to construct a sql query dynamically. i'm using the sql query in a while loop that cycles through the db and finds any matches. then i'm using fopen(), str_replace() etc. to dynamically generate an rtf document off the db. i'm basically pulling up essay questions for anyone who matches my sql query. this page was modelled on an rtf generation page that created an individual page per a much simpler sql query/no while loop. i'd like to use the while loop to create one large rtf document that contains essays of anyone who matches the sql query. i'd like to have a pagebreak between each user's essays anyways, it's not working at the moment. i'm linking to this page, and the link won't let me dl the file i'm supposedly generating. i think my logic around the while loop is probably faulty, can anyone take a look? it's a long page, so i'm not going to copy the code into this email. you can click here to see the code http://pastebin.com/12264) any advice would be appreciated thanks again -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php

I need to know how to compile php code with ms visual studio 6.0. Thanks, RB. PHP is ANSI compliant, thus, theoretically, any compiler should be able to build it. I want to set up a specific size of paper to print a report. I made this with a PDF document and in screen looks like the size that i need, but when i print it, the printer doesn't respect the size and always print with the letter or default acrobat size. RE: [PHP] command to determine the end of a page?
When you use, FPDF class (i think others pdf class too), you can setup the paper size in the document (pdf), but the printer don't care this paper size configuration and prints with the default paper size, and my printer don't have a custom size setup. [PHP] Problem with reference variables.
Hello, If i set display_errors = on and error_reporting = E_ALL in my php.ini file, then i get this warning: Warning: Call-time pass-by-reference has been deprecated - argument passed by value; If you would like to pass it by reference, modify the declaration of [runtime function name](). If you would like to enable call-time pass-by-reference, you can set allow_call_time_pass_reference to true in your INI file. However, future versions may not support this any longer. Re: [PHP] array_change_key_case() warning...
I'm making this: $result = mysql_fetch_array($this->stmt,MYSQL_BOTH); $result = array_change_key_case($result,CASE_UPPER); So the $result array is returned from a mysql function. I tried to put only MYSQL_ASSOC keys, but i get the same warning. I want to put all the keys in uppercase because i make an application with oracle and i need to migrate to MYSQL, and oracle return the keys in uppercase, then i don't want to replace all the keys of my application. The last solution is to put the @, but i want to know where is the problem. Thanks, RB.
