[PHP] Image question for runways
Hi, I am trying to create an on the fly image of runway layouts but am hitting a brick wall. I have both the starting and ending coordinates of each runway, it's length, as well as it's angle of direction (heading). I can draw one runway without any problem, but where I am falling short is how to 'scale', if that is the right word, the other runway(s) to display properly in a 500x500px image function imagepolarline($image,$x1,$y1,$length,$angle,$color) { $length=($length/500)*20; $x2 = $x1 + cos( deg2rad($angle-90)) * $length; $y2 = $y1 + sin( deg2rad($angle-90)) * $length; imageline($image, $x1,$y1,$x2,$y2, $color); } //'base' coords $x1=200;$y1=200; $scale=1; //if first runway if ($d==0) {$xbase=abs($lon1);$ybase=abs($lat1);} //for all others else { $x1=$x1+(($xbase-(abs($lon1)))*$scale); $y1=$y1+(($ybase-(abs($lat1)))*$scale); } Here is some test data if that would help: "length","lat_start","lon_start","heading","lat_stop","lon_stop" "6869","38.8424","-77.0368","355.5000","38.8612","-77.0387" "4911","38.8423","-77.0408","26.","38.8544","-77.0333" "5204","38.8617","-77.0438","142.7000","38.8503","-77.0327" Any suggestions would be most appreciated. [PHP] Scripts running twice
Hi, A very vague question here I am afraidI have quite a number of php scripts running on a WinXp box using the built in Scheduler. Everything worked fine for years until one day an update was done...cannot remember if it was on PHP, Apache, Mysql or the firefox browser, but now most but not all, of the scripts run twice! I was going to say any help would be appreciated, but due to the nature of my vagueness as to what was updated, that question becomes a little moot.Or does it? Is there any way of finding out what exactly is triggering the scripts to run, specifically the second trigger. I am not even sure if the script finishes running and then restarts, or whether two instances of it are started at the same time. Re: [PHP] Text messaging from the web
iT DEPENDS on which country you are in. In Canada you can send a text message to any mobile phone simply by sending an email to the phone number followed by the service provider's details...eg 1234567...@telus.net Details for the exact addresses each provider use, can be found on the net. In England there were free providers a few years ago, but I believe now you have to pay for the service. Re: [PHP] Reminder On Mailing List Rules
Ok, I agree with most of those points, but why should I, or anyone, have to trim down someone else's 'signature', and I'm talking about these silly ones which are 10 or 20 lines long stating 'If you have received this email in error.blah, blah, blah'..surely, the banning of that, along with HTML, should take priority. Besides, as I have done here, I have deleted the entire earlier message, so posting above or below is irrelevant. Also, every other list I am on, I post at the top, as it is much easier to read replies when they appear at the very top, opposed to having to scroll down though the inevitable footers, or worse still, there is trying to see where comments have been inserted in the middle of texttalk about a nightmare. If I need to quote an earlier reply, I simply copy that into my response. I have been a PHP developer for over 10 years now, and I have been on and off this list for a lot of that time, and this is the very first time I have even heard of the term 'top-posting'. At the end of the day, how an individual wants to reply to an email is down to them, and trying to force them to do otherwise is nothing more than Orwellian! No matter how good the intent is. Re: [PHP] Re: [PHP-DB] Re: [PHP] Regex for telephone numbers
Why not have three separate fields for each part, as that way you don't need to bother about how the user separates them, as trust me, if they can break it, they will. I have found it is best to always limit the amount of free entry you permit a user, as that will drastically cut back in data entry validation. [PHP] Bilingual strtotime()
Hi, Living in Canada, and being a bilingual country, I have data I am processing which includes dates in both English and French. I was wondering if there was a way to use the strtotime() function when the months are in one or the other of the above two languages? Just to add to it, for French, they may or may not have the various accents. The data is in no specific order, so one could be in English, the next in French, then back to English. All I can think of, is to create an array to 'translate' the French months into English, but I was wondering if there is an easier way? If not, how in regular expressions, would I go about ignoring accents please? Cheers Alexis -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php

Ah, I misread this earlier - strtotime(), not strftime(). You're talking about transforming from text to a locale()-neutral format. I don't think strtotime() is locale-sensitive - according to the manual: "The function [strtotime] expects to be given a string containing an English date format" Strtotime can read a number of formats, but does (from experience) have problems with some. It won't work with textual dates in anything but English, far as I know. Regards Peter Is there an example of the different date formats so that we can see what we're working with here? It sounds like it might require a little manual intervention first (str_replace() maybe) in order for this to work. Thanks, Ash http://www.ashleysheridan.co.uk So basically, the answer is no :) Looks like I'll simply do a replace of the French named months with English ones. Would have thought the length of time that PHP has been around and with people around the world, speaking more than just one language, that language support would have progressed further than it appears to have. [PHP] Reading files from Win 2003 Server
Hi, I have a script located on an Ubuntu box and I am trying to read files located on a Win 2003 Server. I have 'mounted', if that's the right term to use, a connection from Ubuntu to Server 2003 and can read the files fine via the desktop, etc. If the Win Server name is say 'WinServer' and the shared directory I want to read from on it is called say 'SharedDirectory' and the user name is 'User', I notice the reference to that folder on the Ubuntu desktop is as follows: smb://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/SharedDirectory But I am at a loss as to how I should refer to the path for this connection within my PHP script. Any help would be most appreciated. If it's any additional help, I would be using the connection to read files only, and not add/edit/delete them. [PHP] MSSQL
Hi, I am pulling my hair out trying to set up PHP to connect to SQL Server. The office server, running Server 2003, has SQL Server on it. One of my computers is running XP with Apache 2.2 and PHP 5.2.3. Another one has Ubuntu Gusty Gibbon, Apache 2.2 and PHP 5.2.3 Ideally I would like to get the Linux box to connect to the main server, but I can't even get it to recognise the server, let alone create a MSSQL link, so I'll start off with the windows box. I have read all the various comments in http://ca3.php.net/mssql and have tried all the relevant ones but still no joy. It just will not connect. I have tried the ADO approach but get the following error: Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'com_exception' with message 'Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL ServerDescription: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.' in D:\Apache2.2\htdocs\includes\mssqlinfo.inc:9 Stack trace: #0 D:\Apache2.2\htdocs\includes\mssqlinfo.inc(9): com->Open('Provider=SQLOLE...') #1 D:\Apache2.2\htdocs\mssql.php(3): include('D:\Apache2.2\ht...') #2 {main} thrown in D:\Apache2.2\htdocs\includes\mssqlinfo.inc on line 9 Does anyone have a definite and easy to understand set of instructions as to how to get PHP to talk to SQL Server please? [PHP] Cannot get php_http.dll to work
Hi, I have tried umpteen times to get this to work by PHP still insists that it cannot find the 'HttpRequest' Class. Using PHP 5.2.3 Downloaded latest version of php_http.dll, for PHP 5.2.x from the PECL website Installed it in the D:\PHP\ext directory Added 'extension=php_http.dll' to the php.ini file made sure the extension_dir is set to 'D:\PHP' Restarted Apache..even restarted the entire computer And with all of this it's still not recognising this Class. I've searched all over the net but to no avail...pretty much every answer refers to adding the extension line to the .ini file. Can anyone advise what else I may be able to do? [PHP] Reversing the Colour.
Hi, I have a site whereby the user can select the colour of links for their individual sections. What I would like to do is to get the exact opposite colour of the one that they choose and use that in the 'hover over' option of the tag. The value for the colour is stored in hex. To add to this, the user can also choose the background colour. I have made sure that they cannot have the same background colour as colour of the link, but obviously if the background colour is the exact opposite of the link colour, then when they hover over the link, it would 'disappear'. In this case I would like to choose HALFWAY between the two sets of colours. I know that this might not always produce the best colour combinations, but I'm trying to get it so that the links always 'stand out'. I cannot let them choose the colour of the 'Hover Over' option unfortunately. Any suggestions as to how to achieve this, especially the calculations, or for that matter improve upon it, would be most appreciated. [PHP] Converting Text to Hyperlinks
Hi All, I am designing a News board and wish to convert any text beginning with 'http://' into a hyperlink, when displayed on the page. I have converted all the HTML tags (htmlspecialchars) before saving the data. I can do the initial bit fine (adding the ) before the start of the link, but I am having great difficulty in adding the closing tag. The main problems I am having are: i) If there is more than one link. ii) If the User has entered the link with the correct HTML in the first place, I just want to convert it back into HTML (Obviously they would need to have entered the 'http://' part of it. iii) If there is a line break at the end of the link, opposed to a space. I am presuming that there are no spaces in the link for this one. I have been going round in circles for quite a few hours now, but just don't seem to be progressing, so any help anyone can offer will be very much appreciated. [PHP] Odd problem using sendmail - possibly to do with set_time_limit?
Hi, I'm trying to track down an odd problem in a script I'm writing, the purpose of which is below: The script takes data of a subject and a body for an e-mail from an HTML form, and sends this out to a list of recipients stored in a datafile parsed by the PHP. The size of the e-mails can be quite large (~100kb, all text), and this can be required to be sent to ~400 users. Currently, we have a problem in that when sending a mail of approximately 70kb text, it will not complete - after approximately 2 minutes, it gives an Internal Server Error (not a php error) and fails. In this time, it has sent out approximately 25 messages. This speed wouldn't be too much of an issue, if it would send to all 400 people on the list! The PHP can be found below - I'm already resetting the set_time_limit on each loop execution, so as I understand it the script should happily run for as long as necessary. We do not have access to configure the PHP installation on the server (running 4.1.2) Code follows - I hasten to add that this appears to work admirably on small lists. if($file = fopen($list, "r")) { // Initialise variable $counter = 0; // Repeat until end-of-file reached. while(!feof($file)) { // Open link to sendmail program with write permissions - assign // reference to $mailout $mailout = popen("/usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i","w"); // Set address variable to next line of datafile, up to a // maximum length of 255 characters. // This assigns the $address variable the next address from the // data file on each loop of the // while statement. $address = fgets($file, 255); // Write out to sendmail the correct information. fputs($mailout, "To: $address \n"); fputs($mailout, "From: Sender <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>\n"); // $subject and $body are passed from the html form page - these // are the names of the form elements. fputs($mailout, "Subject: $subject\n"); // Send top of body out fputs($mailout, "header goes here\n"); // Send out user-entered body fputs($mailout, "$body\n"); // Send bottom of body out - need escape characters if using // reserved characters (like ") fputs($mailout, "foot goes here\n"); // Tidy up and close sendmail link - this needs to be done on // each loop, otherwise seperate e-mails // not generated. pclose($mailout); // Reset PHP timeout. set_time_limit(30); // Increment counter of e-mail messages sent. $counter = $counter + 1; } // Tidy up and close the datafile. fclose($file); // Print out confirmation of send print("Message successfully sent to $counter recipients from the $list"); } Any help gratefully appreciated, A. -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php

Also, Sounds like a much better idea, looking at the mail() function. I'm more familiar with using sendmail etc., so I gravitated towards that - I should have examined my options more thoroughly. > you only need to use set_time_limit() once, outside of your loop-- pass 0 as > the parameter, which basically turns off the timeout. Ahh, really. That's interesting - I'd assumed that this wouldn't work as it would allow a badly-written script to get itself into some kind of infinite loop easier - but I'm sure you're right. > Here's how I would code this: > > $counter = 0; > set_time_limit(0); > if ( $fp = fopen($list, 'r') ) { > while ( $address = fgets($fp, 255) ) { > mail( $address, $subject, "header goes here\n$body\nfoot goes > here\n", "From: Sender <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>\n" ); > $counter++; > } > fclose( $fp ); > print("Message successfully sent to $counter recipients from the > $list"); > } Much more concise - thanks. > Hope this helps. [PHP] Finding out document type for a stored file.

Net Subject: RE: [PHP] Apache configuration /tmp is the directory used on Unix systems to store session info. On a windows box you will need to change it to something like c:\temp or c:\apache\sessions. IIRC it's in your php.ini file, not httpd.conf. Net Subject: [PHP] Apache configuration Hi, I am having problems in trying to configure Apache on my PC correctly. FYI I am using Win95 and PHP4. I have configured Apache so that it will run PHP scripts, however when I try to start a session I get the following messages: --- Warning: open(/tmp\sess_20e483a01d217181f5379858afee4cf4, O_RDWR) failed: m (2) in d:\apache\htdocs\session.php on line 2 Warning: open(/tmp\sess_20e483a01d217181f5379858afee4cf4, O_RDWR) failed: m (2) in Unknown on line 0 Warning: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp) in Unknown on line 0 I can see that the script cannot locate the '/tmp' directory. What my question is where does this '/tmp' directory need to be created and do I need to update the 'httpd.conf' file accordingly, and if so where within it? [PHP] Search in Progress
Hi, I am developing a simple site, in PHP4, which has three frames on it. The first gives you the search options and the second two, the results. What I was wondering was, while the database is being searched, is it possible to display some text in the 'results' frame stating that the search is in progress? I also have another site which I would like do this on, however this one, rather than using frames, uses tables, and it is only when the entire set of data for each table has been retrieved that the page is actually displayed. Any suggestions would be most appreciated Alexis -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To contact the list administrators, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[PHP] How do I submit a POST form?
Hi, I've submitted many times a GET form like this: header("Location: http://examplesite.com/myscript.php3?key=value&key2=value2&keyn=valuen"); but now I need to submit a POST form. How is this done? I found this Perl code on the web: -- use strict; use LWP::UserAgent; # libwww-perl my $ua = new LWP::UserAgent or die "new UA: $!"; $ua->agent("testclient/1.0"); my $url = 'http://localhost/cgi-bin/test.pl'; my $request = new HTTP::Request('POST', $url) or die "new HTTP::Request POST '$url': $!"; $request->content_type('application/x-www-form-urlencoded'); $request->content('field1=value1&field2=value2&field3=value3'); #$request->content('field1=value1');# optional method #$request->add_content('&field2=value2'); #$request->add_content('&field3=value3'); my $response = $ua->request($request); print $response->content; ------ But I want to know if there is a way of doing it in PHP... [PHP] using a text file for variables in a form?
I have some variables stored in plain text in a text file. Unfortunately I am not going to be able to use SQL to solve this one, since that server is not running it. Anyway. The text file looks like this (everything between the *): * SAVINGS=type1 FILTER=disabled SPOOL=category1 * I use a form to edit this text file. SAVINGS and SPOOL are 'select' form items with multiple options. FILTER is a 'radio' form item with two options. I was wondering if anyone knew how to make the text file pass the variables into the form that i use to edit the text file... confusing? hmm... let's say i was editing the text file that i gave as an example, I would like like the SAVINGS 'select' field in the form to have type1 selected. the FILTER 'radio' field in the form should be checked on disabled. And the SPOOL 'select' field should read category1 Anyone have any ideas on how to do that? Help would be appreciated, Thank you Alex -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To contact the list administrators, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [PHP] using a text file for variables in a form?
Dan, Thanks for replying so fast.. I tried it out right away. The script part of it didn't seem to give me much grief, however the html part of it seems to be having issues with the combination of single quotes (') and double qouotes ("), or maybe it's the order, or a linebreak in the email... i don't know... "; ?> Also this solution provides a text box... I'm sure I can play around with making it an 'option' within a 'select' item of a form... like: " print ""; ?> please lemme know if i'm understanding this right... thanks -Alex "Daniel" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... > Alex- > > This is very basic PHP. > > > I have some variables stored in plain text in a text file. [PHP] php 5 and mysql failure
I'm using a php script which performs three xml queries to other three servers to retrieve a set of ids and after I do a query to mysql of the kind SELECT * FROM table WHERE id IN ('set of ids'); Although I'm sure the connection to the database is ok, I sometimes get an error of this kind: *Warning*: mysql_fetch_object(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in ... This does not happen every time i run the script, only sometimes. If I echo the query, copy and paste in phpmyadmin, or if I perform the same query in a script that does only the query without the rest it works! After troubleshooting this issue I noticed that it usually failed when I had a big set of ids (positive response from more than one server). This means that the script used a bigger amount of memory and probably more resources, but I did not get an "out of memory error", I got the one described bfore. My question is, is there any kind of limit somewhere in php5 or in mysql?
