Hi, It shouldn't be too hard to substitute with another service. Someone has an alternative service to propose? For website translations, we encourage you to use the Google Translate Element. i'd say that kills the in-viewer translations as well as all inworld translation huds. great. ___ Policies and (un)subscribe information available here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/OpenSource-Dev Please read the policies before posting to keep unmoderated posting privileges ___ Policies and (un)subscribe information available here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/OpenSource-Dev Please read the policies before posting to keep unmoderated posting privileges ___ Policies and (un)subscribe information available here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/OpenSource-Dev Please read the policies before posting to keep unmoderated posting privileges
Re: [opensource-dev] in-viewer translation is dead soon.
In case you didn't noticed, the SL viewer has for many months provided a translator tool withing its viewer. That is if you talk in local chat with people of other language, it translate everything automaticly. So it is this service that will be affected by Google policy change, as well as pretty much all Translator HUD we use inworld. > Date: Sat, 28 May 2011 22:49:06 -0500 > From: starfir...@hotmail.com > To: opensource-dev@lists.secondlife.com > Subject: Re: [opensource-dev] in-viewer translation is dead soon. > > > > On 5/28/2011 9:49 PM, WolfPup Lowenhar wrote: > > Here is some possible reasons that the line of test you type gets translated > > for you: > > a) you do not type a phrase in that is 'clear' in the language you normally > > use so the viewer translates it. > > b) you use a 'slang' term so the viewer translates it. > > c) you use a 'barrowed' phrase so the viewer translates it. > > I can understand why it is translating something that is not English, > but why would I want it to translate any of my typos or slang for > myself?
