Perhaps what could be done is to put it as an optionnal setting (a check
box to enable/disable for example) in the settings panel ? Like this
everyine would have it the way he likes. I'm asking that because I often
come and go from my home parcel so the history is quickly filled with a

[opensource-dev] Forum for ATI, Apple and FBO problem

2011-02-12 Thread Laurent Bechir

Hello,

Some time ago, I've opened a bug report on Apple website concerning the
problem of ATI cards with FBO which stops Mac users to use dynamic
shadows. I know they are not officials, but they work quite well with
Nvidia cards :). I've received an answer recently asking me for the full
System Profiler Report of my machine. I was wondering if accumulating
the experiences on that subject would help make the things move faster.
So I've set up a forum where mac users wanting to do it could tell their
experience with ATI card and join their full System Profiler Report with
their experience. I would then put the link to the forum in my bug
report. Do you think this could be a good idea ?

I've written to AMD support and got this answer which reject the responsibility
to Apple :

"If your PC is an Apple system, we recommend you contact to Apple for the
suppport for OpenGL for Mac. If you purchased one of our graphics cards
designed for Mac sytem, for example the Radeon HD 3870 Mac, then the first
driver version is developed by us

and the following ones by Apple.

This is the reason why we recommend you to contact Apple for more informations
regarding your application."

[opensource-dev] Python broken on Lion - autobuild doesn't work

And Xcode is suddenly half english, half eastern language...

Perhaps installing the new version of Xcode would solve the problem ? But I
don't know if I can still build Second Life viewer with Xcode 4.1.

I've removed autobuild in /usr/local/bin and set up the path to the one I had
took from Second Life repository. It seems to work, now the problem comes from
Xcode, CMAKE_MAKE_PROGRAM being not set. But I guess it is because XCode 3.2.x
is not supported anymore with Lion.

Yes, only XCode 4 is supported on Lion. It's not possible anymore to install
3.x versions. So I'll keep my fingers crossed and install it hoping it will
work.

[opensource-dev] Problem to download libkdu and fmod

Re: [opensource-dev] Call for mesh volunteer regions

2011-08-02 Thread Laurent Bechir

I have a friend who is interested by this program. But I have some questions
before. I read on the wiki :

It is unlikely, but objects may be destroyed or broken permanently

Does it concerns only meshes or also other objects rezzed on the sim ? I'm
asking because the sim she wants to add in the beta program is where is her
main store as fashion designer so I wondered if it was safe to be volunteer ?

She is renting a sim. Can she asks herself to be volunteer or does she have to
ask to the sim owner to do it ?

Thank you

  Hi, There's
a little Refresh button (the itty bitty arrow that makes a circle.) You
need to click that to refresh the picture, which
will then make the Save button clickable again. Probably not ideal, but
it works. In previous viewers, you neededto
refresh the snapshot the same way anytime a setting was changed. Kind

It doesn't change the problem. In fact, the ground was just taken as
example. The result is the same if I take a picture with the sky as
background. The only reactive part of the window is the black left side.

  Ok from what you have
said it sound like click to move is active in the preferences. As a work
around in the preferences floater under move set single click on land
to no action and double click on land to what eve you want it to do. Now
this would be a ‘workarond. And not a true fix for the underlying issue
of some elements of the UI not taking presidence.  ___Policies

Re: [opensource-dev] Errors while building SL viewer

2013-04-30 Thread Laurent Bechir

I've fixed this error. There was a line missing in llsdmessagereader.cpp :

default:// TypeLLSDTypeEnd, TypeLLSDNumTypes, etc.

at the end of the switch part line 270.

I have another error message :

ld: warning: directory

 following -L not found
ld: library not found for -lllconvexdecomposition
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
Command /Developer/usr/bin/g++-4.2 failed with exit code 1
hel

hacd-darwin-2030b for the libraries and the include files that I've put
respectively in build-darwin-i386/packages/lib and
build-darwin-i386/packages/include. I have

kConvexDecomposition.h
llconvexdecomposition.h
ndConvexDecomposition.h

in include

libk_hacdConvexDecomposition.a
libnd_hacdConvexDecomposition.a

in lib

Is it the good files ? If yes, where should I put them to have them discovered
by ld. If no, which version of convexdecomposition I should use in a third
party build ?

Thank you

Re: [opensource-dev] Errors while building SL viewer

2013-05-01 Thread Laurent Bechir

Error message has changed, but here is still one message :

ld: warning: directory
'/Volumes/Maison/laurent/Documents/Secondlife/Kirsten/linden/build-darwin-i386/packages/lib/release/Release'
 following -L not found
Undefined symbols:
  "HACD::HACD::HACD()", referenced from:

  LLConvexDecompositionImpl::deleteDecomposition(int)in
libllconvexdecomposition.a(LLConvexDecompositionStubImpl.o)
ld: symbol(s) not found
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

What I have done :

I've built llconvexdecomposition from :

https://bitbucket.org/WolfpupL/llconvexdecompositionos/src

I've ended up with libllconvexdecompositionstub.a which I've put in
packages/lib, packages/lib/release, and for the debug version in
packages/lib/debug. Since it didn't work, I've made a copy of it and renamed it
libllconvexdecomposition.a. Now I get this error message. Anyone to help me
fullfill my dream of building this release on this beautiful May 1st day :)

Hello,

I haven't seen any new build of the Cocoa Project viewer since 02-28, and the

Re: [opensource-dev] Is the Cocoa project still alive ?

2013-05-11 Thread Laurent Bechir

It works, thank you. In fact, I didn't replaced the argument file, I've just
removed its content which was :

--channel "Project Viewer - Cocoa" --grid aditi --helperuri
http://preview-aditi.secondlife.com/helpers/ --settings
settings_aditi_projectviewer-cocoa.xml

which means that it was meant to connect to aditi when I've put Agni in my
settings. That's perhaps why it was freezing. Is "--channel "Project Viewer -
Cocoa"" a mandatory argument ?

[opensource-dev] Bug report on white artifacts and materials viewer without assignee

I can't use materials viewer 3.6 new features because of that, and I see no

From what I see, keyboard, mouse and trackpad seem to still be easier to use.

Re: [opensource-dev] Open Viewer Development Announcement

2010-08-16 Thread Laurent Bechir

Bryon Ruxton a écrit :

Mike,

First of all, I said "us" in the context of those, like Henri, who
hate the sidebar. As for "we" in general,
it is the majority who says they hate or dislike viewer 2.0 as
indicated by multiple polls
or articles like the following, justifying the word "we" (i.e. the
overall majority of Residents who gave their opinion):

http://www.questionpro.com/akira/ShowResults?id=1604314&mode=data

(75% disliking or hating the sidebar here.)

http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2010/03/20-not-increasing-growth.html

Thus it's not my personal feelings. I check my facts before I say
something.

When I look at the polls and I see figures like 1489 (max), 508, 367 or
75 participants, and that I compare those figures to the number of
people connecting to SecondLife every day, I think that those polls
represent more a little community in SL than the majority and that since
it is the only one who talk, they make a lot of noise (in forum on other
matters I also see more unhappy people talking than happy ones who
generally remain silent, which make that they are not really
representative for me). Also,it should be interesting to deepen the
arguments of the voters against viewer 2 in those polls. The first one I
read concerns the inventory which load slowly. I think that this kind of
problem concern optimizing the code more than the whole viewer in
itself. Problems like "I would like such or such feature", "This button
is not at the good place", ... are more relevant.

Wouldn't it be possible to have an argument "default" like this for
example :

/set debugvar default

which would put back the debugvar to its default value ?

That's the majority case.

An account in that situation is not*in default* when they skip a payment,
because the account payment itself is not made in arrears.

I used to have a premium account once upon a while. Not using it really
(no land associated to the account) and being short of money, I didn't
renew. The only thing that happened is that I'm back as a basic member
now. So I don't see where is the problem :)

Are you sure you didn't at any point select "downgrade to basic" on the web
page?

If that's the case, and I'd like LL confirmation of that, then there is no
problem.

Now that you tell me that, effectively, I must have asked do downgrade
to basic at the end of my subscription

release.

[opensource-dev] Where do I ask for a feature ?

2010-11-01 Thread Laurent Bechir

Hello,

Where do I ask for a feature ? Should I open a Jira ? Mine is not a big
one, it's just a check box in the confirmation window which arise when I
share an object with someone to have the possibility to disable it like
I can with other windows (teleport, ...)

[opensource-dev] Dynamic shadows and ATI

2010-11-13 Thread Laurent Bechir

Hello,

Anyone can tell me when Dynamic shadows will support ATI card, please ?
I'm actually wondering what is the best if I want to use them, change my
ATI for a Nvidia or wait it's supported.

Is it a hardware problem of ATI or just a software problem that can be

ATIs drivers have bugs - ATI + OpenGL FBOs = crash or render artifacts
or both.

Who is responsible in that case ? Apple or ATI/AMD ? Because if there is
no solution for this problem, Mac computers will not have dynamic
shadows before a long time since they are all shipped with ATI cards. So
I'd like to try to contact the support of the one in charge and see if
something can be done.

Done. I've tried to be the clearest I could, but If you think something
should be explained better, tell me. Perhaps I can fix that from my
Apple account. In fact, it's my first bug report with Apple :)

Problem ID: 8685718

Bug with ATI driver and OpenGL Frame Buffer Object (FBO)

19-Nov-2010 12:57 AM laurent Rathle:
Summary:

When I try to use Dynamic shadows in Second Life, the best I can get is
strange artefacts on my screen and even sometimes not only the viewer
crashes, but my Mac Pro can freeze to obliging me to force stop it.

Steps to Reproduce:

Download Second Life viewer : http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh
Click Cmd+Shift+G and choose Agni in the list
Connect your avatar
In the settings (Cmd+P) choose Graphics tab and check the box in front
of "Lightings and shadows"

Expected Results:

You should have dynamic shadows, which means shadows following the
movements of the avatar, and changing during the day.

Actual Results:

Sometimes you get strange artefacts on the screen. Sometimes the viewer
crashes. Some time it's the computer which freeze.

Regression:

Notes:

Dynamic shadows work perfectly well using Nvidia cards. The problem only
occurs with ATI driver. This problem stops the mac community of Second
Life to enjoy the best of this environment.

As you say it'been for the last few years, and not all models, since my
Macbook Pro 2006 has ATI. I guess what Dave was talking about is people
buying their computer now.

I have tried Configuration of movement vs chat keys and movement submenu
on a Macbook Pro core2duo/Ati 1600xt / Snow Leopard 10.6.5 and it works
fine. I don't know how to try LSL feature not being a developer :) The
only problem I had was with the viewer which didn't go above 1,5 fps
framerate,but tonight Kirstens doesn't go above 6 fps, I don't know why.

Perhaps Linden should put something like "You will have a better
experience with Second Life if you choose NVidia graphic card". I know
it's quite stupid, but from what I've read there is not a chance that we
get good support for ATI cards and dynamic shadows which is quite
disapointing.
