Ship it!

This change looks good.

It should be investigated whether other places need changing too. (Either to
VC100, or to not hardcode the compiler name at all ... ideally we'd only set it
at a single place.) If this change builds fine on TeamCity, that investigation
should IMHO not block integration of this change, though, so ship it!

Here's a little search I did. Files where multiple compiler versions occur are
probably fine, but those where only VC80 gets mentioned should be looked at
more closely:

The SVN server was hosted at SoftLayer, and that server (rather, the
address) has been taken over by someone else, that's all. Just needs to
be removed from the dns pool.

Changes
---

made the temporary string const

Summary
---

curl_escape() returns a pointer to a C-string. When one is done with the
C-string, one must curl_free() the pointer. (See
http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/curl_escape.html .) To be able to call curl_free
on the pointer, we must keep it in the first place.

Also, a cpp file in which curl functions are called should include
directly, even if it already gets included indirectly, i.e. via
other includes. So adding that, too.

Note that curl_escape() is deprecated and should be replaced by
curl_easy_escape(). This change does not do that, as this should probably be
done for all occurrences at once and be accompanied by some refactoring.

[opensource-dev] Review Request: Correctly identify Server 2008, Server 2008 R2, Server 2012, and Windows 8

Review request for Viewer.

Summary
---

The stated OS in help -> about for server 2008 and server 2008 R2 is
inaccurate. It shows up as "Microsoft Windows Vista Server" or "Microsoft
Windows 7 Server" instead of "Microsoft Server 2008" or "Microsoft Server 2008
R2" respectively. This patch corrects the text display error and also adds
support for "Microsoft Server 2012" and "Microsoft Windows 8" which I have
confirmed works on those OSs. I came to this work by mimicking the code logic
for how server 2003 was handled.

This patch does not correct the error of XP always showing up as running in
compatibility mode. This also doesn’t affect the redundant display of x64 for
Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012, which are only available in 64bit versions.

I have applied my patch to my clone of viewer-dev at
https://bitbucket.org/Tank_Master/storm-1258/changeset/f4b293bbdedf and my
initial firestorm commit can be found at

[opensource-dev] Mesh branch merged to viewer-development

2011-05-17 Thread Oz Linden (Scott Lawrence)

The mesh team development branch has been merged to viewer-development
(with the actual mesh support disabled, but with many rendering and
other fixes active).

Your next pull of the tip of viewer-development will bring you ~2250
changesets; pay careful attention to any merges of your local changes.

Some of the changes may cause problems with using the Debug (and
DebugOS) configurations. If you have problems, please bring them up on
the list. Don't file a jira yet unless you believe you have diagnosed a
specific issue well enough that a fix is possible. If it turns out that
these configurations are not working well, getting them fixed will be a
high priority this week.

If you would like to update your repository to the latest possible
change _before_ the mesh branch move (and let the rest of us sort out
any problems that arise), then you can pull the tag '2.6.9-start'; the
mesh merge is the next revision after that tag.

Re: [opensource-dev] Review Request: CHOP-658 moving panels and floaters into a new static library project viewer_components/viewerui

2011-05-17 Thread WolfPup Lowenhar
I also built this repository locally but from the tip and my build time which
was a full standard build including all test took 2hrs and 22min this is
actually 8 minutes longer that a viewer development build currently. Also only
one of the side panels works and that is the inventory side panel.

Who is I?

autobuild/autobuild_tool_source_environment.py

"solution($1)" isn't a function call, is it? Maybe better write "solution

autobuild/autobuild_tool_source_environment.py

"this it the path taken."? "is", maybe?

Re: [opensource-dev] Mesh branch merged to viewer-development

2011-05-17 Thread Sergey Litovchuk
Running the latest viewer-development build for me causes the viewer to
crash on start up with an error:

2011-05-17T21:41:18Z newview/llviewertexturelist.cpp(492) : error
2011-05-17T21:41:18Z ERROR: LLViewerTextureList::addImageToList: ASSERT
(mInitialized)

It looks like there is a trouble with finding the settings in both user
and application directory.

I'm using a RelWithDebInfoOS configuration on Linux.

Has someone experienced this kind of crash?

Re: [opensource-dev] Mesh branch merged to viewer-development

2011-05-17 Thread Trilo Byte
It's also surprisingly difficult to do much in the way of testing against all
those wonderful changes, when the vast majority of the JIRA's referenced aren't
public. Can someone maybe consider the idea that if a change is going to get
merged into viewer development, the associated jira's need to be publicly
accessible (except in cases of security issues, of course).

I hear viewer-development is calling itself 'second life mesh beta'

I suspect that's relatively harmless but will get corrected.

Re: [opensource-dev] Mesh branch merged to viewer-development

2011-05-17 Thread Trilo Byte
It's there in 230165 (Mac client). Once you start typing in the field, an x
appears at the right to clear it.

The wrong name in the application window persists.

The Ambient Occlusion & Depth Of Field checkboxes are still disabled in
preferences on nVidia Macs, though the functionality works on nVidia 9400m and
above GPU's.

Attempting to check the Lighting and Shadows checkbox on an ATI Mac results in
a hard system crash. Per comments in STORM-1210 and email discussion with
Runitai & others, the checkbox was to have been disabled/ghosted for ATI Mac
users until they could get the functionality working. The checkbox is still
enabled, and the hard crash persists. Runitai is aware of this situation, and
the need to get this fixed before release.

There is a significant graphical tearing on the Mac client that persists in
230165 (avatar standing in place, hold down left or right arrow keys to turn in
a circle). Turning off VBO reduces the effect, but doesn't eliminate it.

Changes to Anti-Aliasing in Mac client now require a restart to take effect.
The change in behavior is documented, but still unwelcome. For users on
low-end or mid-range computers (who often have AA off while exploring or at
events for performance, but turn it on/up for snapshots), this is a significant
break in immersion.

It can also happen at login if you already have deferred
render/shadows and lights enabled, and it always happens
after the login state is pretty well along, just as the
3D geometry is getting setup to start rendering.

On Linux, I have to log out of my GUI and log back into it in
order to reset the video driver/OpenSL before I can login again
once that "addColorAttachment" error starts. Otherwise
I get that error on every login attempt once it starts.

I reported this a while back to Armin on the Imprudence
viewer dev team with backtraces and crash logs, since it
happened to me for the first time when running Imprudence
experimental.

As for developers and their "colorful" comments, that's
pretty tame. There's been some interesting reports from
SourceForge and GitHub on the statistics of how often
certain "colorful comments" appear by developers.

This one is getting attention because the code is deliberately
referencing a null pointer afterward to cause a crash. I guess this
means that mister WTF? wants the condition reported.
