[Mailman-Users] Does Mailman address need to receive mail from the outside world?

2020-08-01 Thread Jayson Smith

Hi,

Recently I've started receiving spam at the mail...@mysite.net address.
I've been manually discarding such mail from the Mailman moderation
queue, but I'm wondering if there's any legitimate reason to allow any
incoming mail to that address in the first place? If not, I could almost
certainly use a milter I have installed to reject such messages at the
SMTP stage and thus stop it in its tracks.

Thanks,

Jayson

It doesn't NEED to be deliverable for mailman to work, but it is exposed
on the listinfo overview page:

If you are having trouble using the lists, please contact
mail...@example.com.

and on the admin overview page:

(Send questions and comments to mail...@example.com.)

Also, the mailman-bounces@... address is the envelope sender of notices
to list admins, so that address should be deliverable.

[Mailman-Users] Deleting List swimc.org

2020-08-01 Thread Las Vegas Community of Christ
Many years ago I was admin to a list. It hasn't been used in all those years
except for bouncing emails which are coming to my email address and although I
have them blocked it is still a nusiance to clean the block folder several
times a month. I no longer know how to do anything with mailman.
I have tried to delete the list but don't know how and all the online helps
talk in a language I just don't understand.
I just want to delete the list. Simple as that.
After failing with Mailman I did get into a chat with the newqwestmailman
server people who said I need to delete the Mailman and that it is under domain
name swimc.org and that my email address showed I was Admin. So I went back
online again to try and do that. Everything I understand fails and everything
else I don't understand.
I just want to delete Mailman eMail List swimc.org. Can anyone show me a simple
way to do that.
Sincerely,
Michael Peterson

Please see this article It is the
server admins that have to help you with this, i.e. the "newqwestmailman
server people". If they are unable or unwilling to help, please forward
one of these "bouncing emails" in it's entirety so we can see all of the
message headers which will give us more information to be able to help.

Alternatively, if this is by chance a cPanel managed server, can you log
in to your control panel? If so, there should be a Mailman section there
from which you can delete the list.
