[Kmymoney-devel] Feature request
I've been using KMyMoney since 2010. I really like it. However, there is one feature missing that is missing -- Start New Year. Quicken has this, and I believe other non-linux personal banking programs. Is this a feature that others have asked for as well? Is it a feature than can be added? Thank you. -- Paul O. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438939 Paul Worrall changed: What|Removed |Added Ever confirmed|0 |1 Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED --- Comment #1 from Paul Worrall --- By "operation editor" I'm assuming you're referring to the "Transaction Form" that's displayed by default at the bottom of the ledger view with tabs for "Payment", "Transfer" and "Charge"? I use KMyMoney in a Wayland session and I'm able to navigate that form using up to the point where the date field on the right of the form is entered, and then no longer works (see bug 439289). If I then cancel (using the mouse) and then click "New", and then navigate using just enters tab characters in the Memo field, and so doesn't get to the fields on the right. There have been several transactions in the last month, all electronic funds transfer income. When I run the "Cashflow Transactions in Last Month" report, the bank account appears as an Asset, with all the transactions listed below. Then there is an Income section, which again has all the transactions, this time grouped by category. Each of these sections has a total, which is correct (and identical), but then there's a grand total line, which adds these totals, to arrive at twice the true cashflow! I'm no accountant, but I'd have expected only the Income (and Expense, but at the moment there are none) section; and perhaps Asset (and Liability, again none yet) section, but the grand total doesn't make sense to me. I tried configuring the report Accounts to remove the Asset accounts, but that disposed of the report entirely, which I guess is reasonable. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

This used to be true in versions before 5. Now, I just get a list of equity names, no holding information. I suspect it's got resized out of the displayed window, but there's nothing I can grab to reduce the width of the name column. Actually, I tell a lie -I could grab something that looked like a RHS bar in the title bar and drag it, but nothing happened as a result. I guess the other columns are simply not there. [kmymoney] [Bug 393953] New: Can't print to PDF or printer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393953 Bug ID: 393953 Summary: Can't print to PDF or printer Product: kmymoney Version: 5.0.1 Platform: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: reports Assignee: kmymoney-devel@kde.org Reporter: pmw.go...@yahoo.co.uk Target Milestone: --- Report printing worked OK in 4.8.1.1, but stopped with 5.0.1 (Gentoo skipped 5.0.0). I go to Reports, and choose any of them. The report displays OK on the screen. I then click on File>Print... or the Print... toolbar icon or hit Ctrl+P, and the Printer selection dialog box pops up. Select "Print to File (PDF)", and the dialog now offers /home/paul/print.pdf, which is fine, so I click on Print, and it says print.pdf already exists, do I want to overwrite it. I say yes, and it pretends to do it, but it's lying, the file is unchanged. Alternatively, if I try to print to a printer, again it claims to have worked, but nothing appears in the CUPS queue. Other KDE5 apps such as Kmail print OK, and come up with the same print dialog. If I run kmymoney from the terminal, there's nothing relevant in the output. I tried to rebuild kmymoney with CMAKE_BUILD_OPTIONS=Debugfull, but Gentoo's ebuild overwrote it, so I can't run with --trace, assuming that's still even valid. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmymoney] [Bug 393953] Can't print to PDF or printer

Looking further into the Gentoo EAPI stuff, it does inherit a debug flag, but IIUC that sets Qt and other debug settings, but not the correct option for kmymoney (indeed, as far as I can see, it sets CMAKE_BUILD_OPTIONS=Gentoo; not sure what that means). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

According to emerge --info kmymoney (I'll put the full output into another comment): app-office/kmymoney-5.0.1-r2::gentoo was built with the following: USE="activities handbook holidays quotes -addressbook -calendar -debug -hbci -ofx -test (-weboob)" ABI_X86="(64)" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7" no sign of a webkit use flag. I tried adding addressbook and calendar, but as far as I can tell, nothing changed. I presumed I might see something in Settings to say which addressbook and calendar. I wonder if the ebuild is picking up the wrong file - though it has the right name. I don't know where to look in the archive to find its putative version number. When I ran this version (which still doesn't print) from the command line, console output was WebConnect: Try to connect to WebConnect server WebConnect: Connect to server failed WebConnect: Running in server mode Plugins: checkprinting loaded Plugins: csvexporter loaded Plugins: csvimporter loaded Plugins: gncimporter loaded Plugins: icalendarexporter loaded Plugins: qifexporter loaded Plugins: qifimporter loaded Plugins: reconciliation report loaded Online plugins found 0 Cost center model created with items 0 Payees model created with items 0 reading file start parsing file startDocument reading securities endDocument Plugins: checkprinting unloaded Plugins: csvexporter unloaded Plugins: csvimporter unloaded Plugins: gncimporter unloaded Plugins: icalendarexporter unloaded Plugins: qifexporter unloaded Plugins: qifimporter unloaded Plugins: reconciliation report unloaded -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmymoney] [Bug 393953] Can't print to PDF or printer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393953 --- Comment #16 from Paul Gover --- I've tried understanding what's going on by using kmymoney within eclipse. "Debugging" implies a greater degree of sophistication than wot I dun, "flailing about" would be nearer. Whatever. The problem seems to be down to the Web Engine stuff. I had a suspicion about this; when kmail went to frameworks and KDE5 and so forth, at least on Gentoo, it temporarily used web engine to print emails, and I think the same's going on here. When I tried printing from the Home View, as built - without ENABLE_WEBENGINE, I think it's trying to call something from the KDE4 compatability stuff, except it's not been built against that, and instead might be using one from KDEWebKit. When I changed ENABLE_WEBENGINE to On with "ccmake .", then it used different code to print, AND IT WORKED! It produced the same nasty printout I got on Windows 10 - i.e. web fonts and green lineflow paper background. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmymoney] [Bug 393953] Can't print to PDF or printer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393953 --- Comment #17 from Paul Gover --- Solved it! Having installed kdevelop and learnt how to step through the code, it turns out the problem was caused in Gentoo's handling of the change from QtWebKit V4 to V5. They added several USE flags in version 5, one of which is called "printsupport", and apparently it defaults to "-printsupport". Fix is, of course: "USE=printsupport" emerge dev-qt/qtwebkit I now have printed reports -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

(Compiled from kmymoney-4.5.tar.bz2 and kmymoney-4.5.1.tar.bz2 respectively, as downloaded from sourceforge). 4.5.0 imports the QIF file without problems. 4.5.1 has exactly the same problem as 4.5.3; crashing immediately after finishing the import. Looks like some change between 4.5.0 and 4.5.1 is responsible for this problem. Tested this using: KDE Platform Version 4.6.2 (4.6.2), Qt Version: 4.7.2, Linux 2.6.38-9-generic i686, Ubuntu 11.04. I don't like that, as I have my Conky monitor in that location. I reposition and resize KMyMoney to the right-side/upper-right corner (254,0 and 1346,865 on my laptop) and right-click on the title bar and select Advanced > Special Application Settings... > Size & Position and check both Position and Size and select Force and set the values. I click OK and Save. Close KMyMoney and relaunch. The KMyMoney splash screen appears as tiled, with in my case, three rows of four splash images. [Kmymoney-devel] Newly created category not automatically selected when splitting transaction
Dear KMyMoney folks, I am sorry for spamming the list. In the split transactions dialog entering a non-existing category (by choosing the *existing* »cat-2010« and changing that to the *non-existing* »cat-2011«) I am asked if this category should be created. Agreeing a new window opens to create the category. Closing this window and getting back to the split transactions dialog the newly created category »cat-2011« is not chosen but »cat-2010« instead. I would expect that the newly category is chosen. It turns out I must have missed a notification window telling me that the key could still not be found. The following messages are printed to the terminal for example. X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3 Major opcode: 20 (X_GetProperty) Resource id: 0x3a03985 X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3 Major opcode: 20 (X_GetProperty) Resource id: 0x3a03985 X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3 Major opcode: 18 (X_ChangeProperty) Resource id: 0x3a03985 So I found out that the file was not encrypted yesterday, because I was not asked for password. Trying »Save as« again and choosing a key I am told the key cannot be found. The key expired some month ago but I extended the expiration date using `gpg --edit-key`. That could be the problem since using another (unedited) key no error occurs and encrypted storage works. Is a key copy saved somewhere in KMyMoney so that there is still the old key? Trying to add a new key the following messages are printed to the terminal. kmymoney(24167): couldn't create slave: "Aufruf des Ein-/Ausgabemoduls nicht möglich. klauncher meldet: Unbekanntes Protokoll „“. Then I went to the ledger (Kassenbuch), hit new and then selected the splitting button. In there I double click on the top most left cell and enter »spaces«, select the proposal, hit the end key, delete »0« and enter 1 and hit the enter key or the tab key. I am asked that the category has to be created, I choose yes and then enter and being back instead of »test:category:with spaces 2011« I have »test:category:with spaces 2010«. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453254 --- Comment #17 from Paul --- Hi Ralf and Stephen Thanks a again. Ralf seems to have had the right idea! Dismounting is only blocked when opening kmymoney via double click on the *.kmy-file on the encrypted file! quote Therefore, the remaining reason for the reported problem could be/*that kmymoney was started from a path inside the Veracrypt container*/ and the leftover processes are blocking unmounting. Or another program like explorer could be blocking the unmount. unquote However, there seems to be another bug in the program when opening kmymoney via start menu without having previously mounted the VERYcrypt-drive; see below SECOND and THIRD way What did I do: * downloaded 64 bit-version 5.1.2 from your snapshot-link * extracted all files and copied them to the installation directory where 5.0.6 was installed (I renamed all 5.0.6-directories first!) * AVAST did not block anything; I previously added an exception to the installation directory of 5.0.6 (now 5.1.2) in AVAST *FIRST way* * started kmymoney with your start.bat-file * my *.kmy-file on the previously mounted VERAcrypt-drive opened correctly * made some changes in the *.kmy-file and saved it * exited kmymoney * after 5-6 seconds dismounted the VERAcrypt-drive * result: it dismounts immediately as expected * shutdown the computer *SECOND way* * restarted the computer * mounted the VERAcrypt-drive * doubleclicked the *.kmy-file * made some changed in the *.kmy-file and saved it * after 3 minutes dismounted the VERYcrypt-drive * result: error message as before, i.e. only a forced dismount is possible * forced dismounting of the VERYcrypt-drive * *after 10 minutes I opened kmymoney via the start menu without previously mounting the VERYcrypt-drive* * *result: kmymoney does not open; it hangs somewere; it's freezed* * shutdown the computer *THIRD way* * restarted the computer * mounted the VERAcrypt-drive * started kmymoney via the start menu * my *.kmy-file on the previously mounted VERAcrypt-drive opened correctly * made some changes in the *.kmy-file and saved it * exited kmymoney * after 5-6 seconds dismounted the VERAcrypt-drive * result: it dismounts immediately as expected * *after a few minutes I opened kmymoney via the start menu again without previously mounting the VERYcrypt-drive* * *result: ***kmymoney *does not open; it hangs somewere; it's freezed* After closing kmymoney I checked via Task Manager what program-parts are still active. In all three ways the same parts where still active (see enclosure). So the solution for me is either way 1 or way 3 😉 Hope the above helps to find the possible bug(s). Kind regards Paul NB: I am just programming in Visual Basic 6 starting with BASICA in the year 1984😂; so my process-knowledge is not as deep as yours, sorry. [kmymoney] [Bug 450152] "Dividend income" box appears in wrong places
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450152 --- Comment #2 from Paul Gover --- Problem still there with kmymoney-5.1-22-linux-centos_64-gcc.AppImage In the following, I ignore Date and Memo fields; they're always there. Working out what "should" happen has been a learning experience for me. It seems to be, in part, a UK vs US difference, explained below. Actual behaviour: I set up a new KmyMoney database, added Investment accounts from the setup wizard, and an equity account under Investments. To that I added one equity. New->Buy shares. The panel that appears has entry fields for Activity-Buy Shares, Security, Account, Fees category and amount, Interest category and amount, and Memo, Date, Shares, Price/share. I entered a number of shares, a price, a fee amount (account Commissions), and some Interest (category Dividend Interest). It accepted all the input, but ignored the Interest amount. Trying Reinvest Dividend, the field for Account disappears, as do the amount fields for Fees and Interest, even if I set their categories to something sensible. I can enter some numbers using the split transaction facility. The Fees amount gets included in the transaction, but the Interest is set to Shares*Price + Fees, irrespective of anything I entered as a split transaction. That appeared in the Dividend Income category, where I'd sent it, so at least it's consistent. You can't enter the transaction without specifying an Interest category. Even if you specify a Fees category, there's no box to enter the number; you have to use the split transaction facility. Expected behaviour: Buy Shares should have no Interest category or number, and simply take money from whichever account was specified, that money being Shares*Price + Fees. For Reinvest dividend, having dug around on the Internet, I think it may be the US vs UK (and presumably elsewhere) difference. US companies seem to be happy to issue fractional shares, so they appear to offer Share Reinvestment programs that work as the existing kmymoney method - the "number" of shares is (Dividend/Price) and can be fractional. I think that could happen with UK Unit Trusts (they have a new name these days; whatever), but not with normal Equities, and I was trying to handle the Dividend Re-Investment Plan (DRIP) of a normal UK equity. UK Equity DRIPs work by having a cash account for each participating shareholder, integer share purchases, and the residual between the Dividend paid and the (Shares*Price) cost going to or coming from that cash account. I guess if kmymoney were to handle this UK usage, what should happen would be: There should be Security, Fees category and amount, Interest category and amount, Residual category (no amount), Shares and Price. The Interest would go to the Interest category; (Interest - (Shares*Price + Fees)) would go to Residuals category (Shares*Price+Fees) would be handled as a normal Buy Shares; effectively, this is a split transaction funded by Interest and Residual. The split is to ensure the database records the correct Dividend interest received, so the Investment performance report is correct. Working that out (and it's taken me a couple of hours) explains why I couldn't understand one of my broker's reports! They effectively have brokerage account per security, and when the amount therein is sufficient, they buy shares from that account, which, AFAIR they call "Cash". I handle that broker's report items as two transactions, a Dividend and a separate Buy Shares. Conversely, a few of my direct holdings provide their own DRIP, and they are the ones I'd handle as written above. I guess if that's not easy to implement, I can just handle these DRIPs as two transactions. But the kmymoney handbook needs expanding in either case to explain more about how it handles Divident reinvestment activities. Hope that all makes sense -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[kmymoney] [Bug 461866] New: Transactions with no category assigned cause a "Sum of splits is not zero" consistency error
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461866 Bug ID: 461866 Summary: Transactions with no category assigned cause a "Sum of splits is not zero" consistency error Classification: Applications Product: kmymoney Version: git (master) Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: minor Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kmymoney-devel@kde.org Reporter: p.r.worr...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I have a number of transactions with no category assigned. When I save KMM these trigger a Consistency Error saying the sum of the splits on those transactions are not zero, which is not true - there are no splits. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a transaction with no category assigned 2. Save the file OBSERVED RESULT Consistency Check saying the sum of the splits on the transaction are not zero EXPECTED RESULT No consistency check message (as per version 5.1.3), or if unassigned category is really a consistency error, a message saying something like "Category Unassigned". [kmymoney] [Bug 461866] Transactions with no category assigned cause a "Sum of splits is not zero" consistency error
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461866 --- Comment #2 from Paul Worrall --- Thanks for your explanation Jack, I hadn't thought of the two ends of a transaction being "splits". I can now see why uncategorised transactions are "unbalanced". Maybe it should be in the manual if it isn't already. My use case is that I have some old transactions which are uncategorised, in accounts that are now closed, that hadn't been bothering me with 5.1.3 because they didn't raise a consistency error, and I don't remember what they were for so I don't know what category to assign to them. Some of them were imported and not accepted, though accepting them doesn't of itself assign a category. I guess I could add a "Don't Know" category just to suppress the consistency report I can imagine this being raised again and again when more people start using this version of KMM Sorry for raising a bug for something that is just my misunderstanding, feel free to close this as RESOLVED/INTENTIONAL -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmymoney] [Bug 461952] New: Adding new payee or category by typing in the transaction form triggers "Do you want to add" after typing the first character that doesn't match an existing name
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461952 Bug ID: 461952 Summary: Adding new payee or category by typing in the transaction form triggers "Do you want to add" after typing the first character that doesn't match an existing name Classification: Applications Product: kmymoney Version: git (master) Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: ux-ui Assignee: kmymoney-devel@kde.org Reporter: p.r.worr...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When entering a new transaction, if I try to enter a new name by typing in the Payer/Payee or Category boxes, and the characters I type trigger the drop-down list, typing a subsequent character that doesn't match an existing name triggers the "Do you want to add?" dialogue making it impossible to type the full name. For example: If I already have a Payee called "Employer" and I want to create a transaction with "Pension" as a new payee, I type "P", (the drop down list appears), then type "e", the dialogue appears asking if I want to create a payee called "Pe" STEPS TO REPRODUCE (Using Payee as the example) 1. Open a book with at least one Payee already defined 2. Open a ledger 3. Start to enter a new transaction 4. Start typing in the Payer/Payee box some characters that match the name of an existing payee so that the drop-down list appears 5. Try to type further characters to define a new name OBSERVED RESULT The dialogue asking you to confirm the creation of a new Payee appears after typing one further character that does not match an existing payee EXPECTED RESULT The dialogue doesn't appear until the text box loses the focus SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KMyMoney: 5.1.80 Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.100.0 Qt Version: 5.15.7 Graphics Platform: Wayland ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Sometimes two "Do you want to add" dialogues can be triggered at the same time -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
