Setting up a QIF profile

Follow these steps to create a new QIF profile:

1) select QIF import plugin (export also works)
2) open its configuration
3) create a new profile
4) provide it a name
5) modify the settings

Press OK to save it. Hope that helps. If you still find problems, then please
report them here.

[kmymoney] [Bug 452024] Date Format when using CSV Importer --> Make QIF File

2022-04-01 Thread mrbee via KMyMoney-devel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452024

That's exactly what I did. I currently have 3 profiles in the QIF
Importer/Exporter, the default one and 2 test profiles. Can't select any of
them in the CSV Importer. They simply don't show up. None of the 3 profiles do.

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: importer
  Assignee: kmymoney-devel@kde.org
  Reporter: anto...@miaou.org

SUMMARY

I can not import a csv file correctly using the csv importer.
 * It does not ask me in which account to import
 * At the end of the csv importer wizard, my data are in the wrong account

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. start KMM, create an account named "Balance", File > Import > CSV
2. check Banking and add a profile, select a csv file

OBSERVED RESULT

KMM does not ask me in which account these data should be imported
Imported data can be found in an account (no idea on how it has been chosen)

[kmymoney] [Bug 452156] CSV importer : can not choose in which account to import

If you change the name of that account from Balance to Account (or anything
else) do you still have the problem? For me, when I hit "Import CSV" the next
page of the wizard shows which account is being used, and as it doesn't know,
it asks me to specify the account. I even created a checking account named
"Balance" and on csv import, it still asked me which account to use.

I confirm this behavior. During the csv import process, I see nowhere to
specify or select a QIF profile to use for the export.

possible new qif profile (export) problem

2022-04-01 Thread Jack Ostroff via KMyMoney-devel
In playing with qif profiles, I created a new profile, and did a qif
export with several different date formats. All selections I tried
with a four digit year worked as expected. However, for two digit year
formats, the output had the final delimiter replace by a single quote.
For example, using a Date Format of "%d/%m/%yy" output a date of
"D02/10'20" and "%d.%m/%yy" produced "D02.10'20". The order of date
and month was correct per the format selected.

Before I file a new bug, I'd like to check if anyone else can confirm
this, or if I'm just missing something.

Thanks.

Jack

It's not a bug, it's a feature!

The 'Apostrophe Handling' setting next to the date format selector helps
to identify the missing century in a 2 digit year format.
I did not come up with this: blame it on Intuit.

Here are some references on the net:

https://userbase.kde.org/KMyMoney/FAQ#Why_does_the_QIF_import_choke_on_a_wrong_date_format.3F
https://www.accountantforums.com/threads/date-format-in-ms-money-and-quicken-qif-files-are-different-conversion.73489/
https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7891105/downloaded-qif-data-from-bank-to-excel-then-quicken-imported-date-as-1920-rather-than-2020
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quicken_Interchange_Format#Detail_items

Although, on the last one it may seem that the apostrophe always means 2000
but we have seen cases in the past where this was not true. Hence our
settings.

Hope that helps and explains.

[kmymoney] [Bug 452024] Date Format when using CSV Importer --> Make QIF File

2022-04-01 Thread Thomas Baumgart via KMyMoney-devel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452024

Answering the last two entries:
a) since you're using windows it might be an OS related problem why KMyMoney
does not populate the combo box. I'll look into that.
b) The CSV settings only allow to select a profile, not to define it. That is
covered in the QIF settings.
