[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2092340] [NEW] wwan card permanently disappears after resuming from suspending

2024-12-22 Thread Tobias Mamerow
Public bug reported:

Hello,

on my ThinkPad P16s Gen2 AMD with the Quectel EM05-G modem configured, I'm
running Ubuntu Desktop 24.04.1 LTS with the kernel package
"linux-generic-hwe-24.04" version "6.8.0-51.52"
I am facing the issue that after resuming from suspending, the WWAN card
completely disappears.

The WWAN card is internally connected via USB, after suspending the WWAN card
also disappears from lsusb.
Example output from lsusb after suspending:

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0610 Genesys Logic, Inc. Hub

Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub

While resuming from suspending, there's the following output:

Dez 21 13:05:53 Pfirsichsaft kernel: usb 1-2: USB disconnect, device number 6
Dez 21 13:05:53 Pfirsichsaft kernel: usb 1-2.1: USB disconnect, device number 7

After suspending, there's the following kernel output:

Dez 21 13:05:56 Pfirsichsaft kernel: usb 1-4: USB disconnect, device number 3
Dez 21 13:05:56 Pfirsichsaft kernel: option1 ttyUSB0: GSM modem (1-port)

Dez 21 13:05:56 Pfirsichsaft kernel: cdc_mbim 1-4:1.0: Tx URB error: -19

After the kernel output, there's this ModemManager output which indicates a
"missing" device?:

A temporary workaround is to restart the system. This will help until the next
suspending.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2092340] Re: wwan card permanently disappears after resuming from suspending

2025-03-28 Thread Tobias Mamerow
Hello,

this issue still persists with Ubuntu Desktop 24.04.2 LTS on the 6.11
kernel.

When entering sleep, the kernel module immediately throws an error and
the wwan card remains unavailable.

cdc_mbim 1-4:1.0: Tx URB error: -19

Only a restart of the system can fix that which defies the purpose of
sleeping..

Please help, this is a severe breaking issue.
