I had the same issue today (May 5th 2022), and the workaround proposed by Giacomo Tazzari worked just fine. Strangely, the adapter was working just fine after the Ubuntu 22.04 installation (earlier this week). I just want to add something to my last comment, as it was misleading. The adapter stopped working again. After some exploration, I discovered that my dual-boot with Windows 10 was messing up with the accessibility to the WiFi.
