[Kernel-packages] [Bug 658042] Re: (Live system) CD not mounted
It is the same. Inserted CD not mounted. I tried the latest daily from the URL above on the same hardware. The files manager app does not show any trace of the CD. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 658042] Re: (Live system) CD not mounted
After I try to eject the CD using the GUI, it is unmounted, but not ejected. (an error dialog pops-up) After that it also can not be ejected bz the hardware eject button. "eject /dev/sr2" also fails with: eject: unable to eject, last error: Inappropriate ioctl for device "Inappropriate ioctl for device" is also the error that appeared in the error dialog. "sudo eject /dev/sr2" on the other hand works fine (ejects the CD without any error) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658042 Title: (Live system) CD not mounted Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I booted the ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso into Try mode. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1212480] [NEW] live: press enter message not visible
Public bug reported: Burned http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/saucy- desktop-i386.iso (downloaded an hour or two ago) to a DVD, then booted it. I selected "Try Ubuntu". After a while I entered "sudo reboot" in an xterm. The system went down, ejected the DVD and the hung there. There were two lines of text on the screen, some part of the shutdown script. It did not say "press return to continue" as it used in older versions. I pressed the return key and it did continue and rebooted at the end. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1077440] Re: [VMWare Player 5.0.x] Quantal+ as guest hangs at end of install
I tried the todays daily * and it seems OK, with one thing (which I experienced before too): when after installation the reboot is done, the shutdown scripts is waiting for a press of ENTER key, but the text saying so is not visible (see screenshot). So it hangs there until I press ENTER. After that it reboots into the installed Ubuntu system. I guess the original bug is solved (it was a bit sporadic and frankly I have no will to pursue this further). * http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/saucy-desktop-i386.iso md5sum eb8ff86ce4fc10a305b918ce28e0908e .disk/info: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Beta i386 (20131005) ** Attachment added: "VMware_ubuntu_install.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1077440/+attachment/3861380/+files/VMware_ubuntu_install.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1077440 Title: [VMWare Player 5.0.x] Quantal+ as guest hangs at end of install Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Installing Ubuntu 12.10 Desktop i386 (ubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386.iso) in VMware player hangs at the end of installation. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 658042] Re: CD-ROM units doesn't mount automatically under a Live environment
I just used the daily ISO build: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/saucy-desktop-i386.iso md5sum eb8ff86ce4fc10a305b918ce28e0908e .disk/info: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Beta i386 (20131005) It has kernel 3.11.0-11.17 Now the second CD unit (sr1) is mounted when a CD is inserted (great!), but the third CD unit (sr2) is not (not great!). Mounting from command line with mount /dev/sr2 works. Also, after mounting and unmounting, both units eject button is "dead". I does not eject. Even after removing the media (by software eject) and closing the tray (empty). Ironically, the eject button on the first unit, where the boot media is present (and mounted!) works. It ejects the tray. While it is mounted. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658042 Title: CD-ROM units doesn't mount automatically under a Live environment Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I booted the ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso into Try mode. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 658042] Re: CD-ROM units doesn't mount automatically under a Live environment
1.) Which ISO should I customize? ubuntu-13.04-desktop-i386 ? Are there any detailed instructions to replacing the kernel? I followed https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCDCustomization?highlight=%28livecd%29#Live_CD_Kernel but got a non-booting image. (it bootsm but later on it reports : mounting aufs on /root failed: No such device Can I just replace the two files vmlinuz and initrd.lz? If yes, where do I get the initrd file?
