I made a cache for the root file system, rebuilt the initrd and rebooted the VM. At boot time, the system failed to activate the root LV. After some investigation, I found out, it's because the initrd is missing some essential stuff needed for activating a cached LV. The initrd was missing the dm-cache module. I regenerated the initrd with explicitly listing dm-cache in /etc/initramfs-tools/modules, but the system still can't boot up, because now it is missing the /usr/sbin/cache_check utility. As SSDs are becoming more and more common, I think it will be common to use them as cache for root file systems, thus it is mandatory to make sure that an initrd can mount an lvmcached root device when necessary, preferably without /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and other manual initrd hacking. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 2059738] Re: Kernel 6.8 - Shutdown/Reboot hangs on Noble 24.04
Seeing this on my T460s as well Suspend (on lid close) ; the machine reaches the state where the lid light and the light on the power button "throb" as they would with 22.04, but the machine will not resume from suspend in response to keyboard events, mouse events, or a brief press to the power button. Poweroff : the machine reaches a state where everything appears "off", no lights, no screen activity etc, but the machine does not restart in response to a brief press of the power button. In both cases, a long-press of the power button is required. You can tell this has "taken" when the lights on the hardwire ethernet port blink briefly on release. Then a normal brief press will restart the machine. Both of these conditions happen reliably on lid close (suspend) or poweroff (from menu or command). Going to test reboot now since this is mentioned above. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2059738 Title: Kernel 6.8 - Shutdown/Reboot hangs on Noble 24.04 Status in snapd: Confirmed Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in snapd package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: [Overview] I have been testing installations of a number of Lubuntu and Xubuntu Noble Numbat 24.04 Daily builds since Feb 2024 on a DELL Wyse 3040 (UEFI bios), more latterly focused on Lubuntu. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1952217] Re: bluetoothd coredumps from double free on connection of headset
Syslog from affected system. - First action is to select the affected headset from the Bluetooth applet The first thing that happens is the coredum. Then the service restarts ; this seems to be fast enough that the connection is still in progress, you can see the audio endpoints being registered, ? because the state is lost this does not complete and the device reports disconnection. * - Second action is activation of a Bluetooth keyboard This connects and functions correctly - Third action is selecting the affected headset again Same response. The keyboard is also disconnected but reconnects automatically. * this is not true : these endpoints are re-registered merely on restarting the bluetooth service. ** Attachment added: "syslog.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1952217/+attachment/5543295/+files/syslog.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1952217 Title: bluetoothd coredumps from double free on connection of headset Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Problem: Since the security updates on 2021-11-23 connecting my headset causes bluetoothd to crash, which drops all the other connections.
