[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1292765] Re: [Dell Inc. XPS13 9333] suspend/resume failure

2015-06-20 Thread Lyle
My last comment above was too early. I thought I had rebooted after
blacklisting "mei_me" and "mei" and encountered the same problem again,
but it might not be true. I've never met the failing resume after
suspend since I leaving the impatient comment #12 and strongly suspect
either "mei_me" or "mei" have been causing the problem.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1467068] [NEW] Linux Kernel acting weirdly

2015-06-20 Thread Samuel Bushi
Public bug reported:

Lately the booting has been troublesome. These are the things that are
happening randomly when I select the above kernel:

-It boots up normally
-It shows up a kernel panic saying that it tried to read/write outside of some
hd(0)
-Grub Menu might not even load and the notebook just beeps continuously. This
occurs mostly when I restart after a Kernel-Panic-hang.
-It restarts and I end up back at the grub menu.

I overcome this by selecting the 3.13.0-54-generic kernel in Advanced
options for Ubuntu.

Update:

I have installed linux-generic-lts-vivid. The first boot-up was OK but the
pointer was missing (It was still there, but not visible). After that, the
problem returned and I had to shift back to the *-54-generic kernel.
The random part is getting skewed and the occurrence of the 2nd error is
increasing.

Not a bug.

'/boot' was not remounted after suspend, so
`./boot/config-3.16.0-41-generic' was not correctly written during new
kernel install.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1349572] Re: Wireless network disconnections on Dell XPS 13

2015-06-20 Thread gronki
On my Dell Inspiron 7537 the wifi is working very well on 3.16 (trusty),
however I experience frequent disconnections on 3.19 kernel (vivid).
After I get disconnected, no APs are visible by Unity wifi applet.
However, using wavemon to connect to a network "fixes" everything for
about 1 hour. Switching off wifi power saving helps. I'm wondering why
everything works well on the 3.16 but I have issues on 3.19.

Wireless network disconnections on Dell XPS 13

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Status in linux source package in Trusty:

Status in linux source package in Utopic:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  SRU Justification

Impact: Many users with Intel 7260 wireless are seeing relatively
frequent disconnections as a result of the firmware reporting loss of
  beacons from the access point.

Fix: Two upstream backports, one which waits for several lost beacon
reports before reporting beacon loss to mac80211, and another which
fixes a bug with mac80211's handling of beacon loss reports from some
  drivers (in particular iwlwifi).

  Test Case: Tested on LP#1349572.

Regression Potential: These patches were merged upstream in 3.14 and
  3.15 without any reported regressions.

  ---

With kernel 3.13.0.30 and 22.1.7.0, there are lots of wireless disconnections.
Tested also with kernel 3.13.0.32 and 22.24.8.0 , also lots of wireles
disconnections.

The AP is an ASL-26555 from Movistar(Spain). Firmware version:
  v2.0.0.51B_ESv6

Seems that when the computer is working for some time it is more easy
  to reproduce this beahviour.

Added this bug as sugested in #1293569, comment #91.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1466889] Re: SD card is not recognized.

2015-06-20 Thread Fuminori Ido
Bye the way, could you let me know how to rollback to original 15.04
kernel? I need to use virtualbox on this.

As MainlineBuilds page says, I needed to remove virtualbox to upgrade to
latest upstream kernel, but I would like to use it.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1462180] Re: Bad page map / bad pte

2015-06-20 Thread Ray Cole
I would be willing to run the kernel from it if I can obtain it
somewhere. It takes about a day to reproduce the problem. The first
symptom are things randomly crashing (google-chrome, for example) and
then not too long after I see messages about pte problems.

3.13.0-46 and below run fine. 3.13.0-49 and above crash. I have not
tried 3.13.0-48 but intend to do so in order to nail down which one
introduced the problem. It was either 3.13.0-48 or 3.13.0-49 that
introduced it (or -47, but that doesn't appear to be available so I
assume it was known to be bad).

I hooked a mustang board up to a 100Mbit switch, and it fails to

2015-06-20 Thread reroute
It would be great if you could assist me with reporting bug in Ubuntu
Launchpad:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1462761

Just run "apport-collect 1462761" in Terminal using external mouse/keyboard in
Ubuntu 14.04, 15.04 or 15.10
I'm getting errors, maybe you'll be luckier.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1458208] Re: AR8161 ethernet stopped working after upgrade from 3.19.0-16 to 3.19.0-18

2015-06-20 Thread Bachi
I had the same issue after the 15.04 update (3.19.0-21-generic).

There is a workaround: In Network manager, set the ethernet connection's
MTU value from automatic to 8192. This worked fine for me (from
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70761).

whole story repeats.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1354975] Re: iwlwifi Intel 7260 Wifi disconnects

2015-06-20 Thread gronki
With Dell Inspiron 7537, I find connection with version 12 ucode very
unstable. Version 9 works the best for me. Is there any way to make
kernel use version 9 ucode in Ubuntu Vivid instead of 12?

Bug description:
I experience frequent disconnects and auth issues, never more than 30
minutes without a disconnect. Sometimes dozens of disconnects in a few
  minutes.

This happens with the default 7260-8 firmware.
Tried replacing the -8 with -9 ucode. Failed to load due to API version. This
loaded the -7 driver which seems to be more stable.

Tested against 2.4ghz APs (Apple, Netgear, Linksys).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1467184] [NEW] Sata failure with main board gigabyte ga-g41mt-s2pt

2015-06-20 Thread matt scott
Public bug reported:

At first I thought it was a hard dive failure .. but sent it back and
another drive did the same thing. Then, put the drive on a different
machine and it booted/worked repeatedly with no problems. Got a 3rd
drive from a different manufacturer, and it did the same thing. Running
this particular main board, I can install ubuntu studio on a drive.
Then, after about 3 or 4 days running, it refuses to access the drive.
The O.S. doesn't crash, mouse moves etc. but I have to bring it down
because it won't start an app, and often (but not always) kills the menu
window while selecting a program.. and butts out of anything that seems
likely to be requesting the drive. ...

again ... take the same drive, connect to another machine and its
dreamy. (this assertion needs more testing, so I am running another
machine with such a drive long term at this point to double check that)
Then, when I bring it back up, the O.S. won't boot. I can often get it
back up by plugging the drive into a different sata slot or in one case,
switching off the S.M.A.R.T. drive manager, but after a few days drive
access fails again. The machine hangs at the dpmi data screen and
eventually asks for a bootable drive. ...( but there is a drive that
works on other machines.) .. googling finds nothing except the main
board has a reputation for not booting from flash drives. Not the same
deal. Because of that .. I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with
the real time kernel because that's different, and rare enough that
others may not have encountered the problem yet. No promises on that
being true. no special gpu, and all of the hardware seems to work
fine. About the only thing I can think of to try at this point is a
different OS on this same machine ... pain in the behind, but maybe
necessary to help track down the problem.

Thank you. This workaround is working for me.

Hello friends. I fired up 15.04 beta on my Toshiba Z835 ultrabook.
Upon lid close, the system does not suspend despite being set to
suspend on lid close for both battery and on AC power. This worked
