I will try to find a pattern to be able to give you information for debugging. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 305662] New: Messages are kept unread even after marking them as read.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305662 Bug ID: 305662 Severity: major URL: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3383209/snimek29.png Version: 4.9.0 Priority: NOR Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Summary: Messages are kept unread even after marking them as read. Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux Reporter: konecny.ond...@seznam.cz Hardware: Archlinux Packages Status: UNCONFIRMED Component: commands and actions Product: kmail2 I have several IMAP accounts and in one of them, which is named "Škola" (see the linked image), there are some nested folders created (folders "public" and its subfolders). Now what's wrong: If there are unread messages in those subfolders, they cannot be marked as read. If I mark them as read, they are marked so, but not on the server and after I re-check the mail, they are marked as unread again. If I mark the problematic messages as read through the web interface or another client, they are marked correctly and they are no longer kept marked as unred in Kmail. But if there is a new message received in those subfolders the whole thing starts with the new message anew. Sometimes the problem seems to disappear after marking the messages as read through the web interface, but if there are new messages next day, the problem appears again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have IMAP account with subfolders. 2. Have some unread messages in the subfolders. 3. Mark them as read in Kmail. (But for some reason Kmail doesn't mark the messages on server as read.) 4. Re-check the mail. 5. The messages get marked as unread again. Actual Results: The messages are marked as unread. Even on the server. Expected Results: The messages should be marked as read in Kmail and on the server. I have tried deleting the "public" folder and subfolders, but it seems to be some kind of "virtual" folder and it is enforced by the mail server. There are no messages in the "public" folder itself, only subfolders. And since the server is not under my administration I cannot do anything with its configuration whatsoever. The only software that was running that is not native to KDE or Linux-Mint was the Spideroak backup daemon. My KDE setup is essentially vanilla with no unusual option and very little changing of initial defaults (other than changes made by the Linux-mint devs). Nepomuk was not activated because I have noticed increased crashes and decreased performace when it is running. I had just added a series of "to-dos" in Kontact and noticed that I had missed some information on the last entry. Immediately after creating the incorrect to-do, I right-clicked the entry that I wanted to edit and immediately after the context menu appeared, Kontact crashed. My exact version of Kmail is 4.8.4 (German version). I have 2 imap accounts working fine. My OS is Kubuntu 12.04. The problem I have is only this: a) after updating Kubuntu 11.04 to 12.04 and migration of Kmail by hand (kmail-migrator --interactive) I can see the "local directory" and the "Kmail- directory" (/home/user/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail). b) inside the Kmail-directory (using Kmail) I see all of the directory structure. In some directory you can find emails. c) if you go deeper in stucture, e.g. the directories beginning with a ".", there is no email (still using Kmail). d) under dolphin I can see and open all of the emails with Kmail. But all in seperate Kmail-windows. e) it must be a bug. How can it be solved? Hopefully this is enough information to get rid of the problem.
