This happens on arch as well, in version 1.1.2.
I'd argue that the expected behaviour matches that of mpv instead of vlc (that
being changing only once until the input is held), since this can cause
problems for people sensitive to flickering.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open system settings
2. go to colors & themes -> cursors

OBSERVED RESULT
All the cursors look the same, whether only xcursor or supporting the new svg
method.

EXPECTED RESULT
Have a way to differentiate between themes only supporting xcursor and svg,
maybe with a badge, like the one added for new widgets. Could simply be a logo
as well, in the preview pane the x-cursor or wayland-cursor pointer preview
could be added depending on the support, the svg cursors could have both, since
they are backwards compatible.
Though when browsing for cursors in the "get new" panel, users would still need
a way to tell which supports it, for this reason a badge would be better, or a
new filter to show migrated cursor only.

Well, when the system detects a sudden spike in the audio, and mutes/switches
output sources for saving your ears, for me it switches to line out from
headphones. I say this beacuse the ear protection is a plasma feature, so is it
supposed to mute the output instead of switching output sources in that case as
well?

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=494426

When in the shake cursor effect, the cursor is locked to the "default" icon, so
only that one would need to be prerendered to a bigger size, if that is still
memory heavy, a hard cap could be introduced to the effect so no pixelation
would be seen by the user.

Also, just for reference, how much memory are we talking about?

SUMMARY
I'm not a 100% if it's in the right category, but it'sthe closest i could find.
When I'm listening to audio on my headphones be it from a game/ music, and
there is a very sudden spike in it, the system switches the output method from
headphones away.
This is great for saving my ears, but sometimes I have to look for minutes just
to remember it is a built in safety feature and switch back my outputs.

A popup or a notification would be much appreciated as a heads up to whats
going on with audio output. (maybe even a way to change the treshold for it.)
This would lead to less confusion (at least on my part)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Play an audio file that triggers the safety feature

OBSERVED RESULT
The audio output gets switched to a different source silently.

EXPECTED RESULT
Have a popup/system notification that informs the user of the change.

SUMMARY
After deleting app "X" through the command line, the panel and the Application
launcher frezze if app "X" was favourited. May happen if you can set the
application launcher to not open on favourites, but another section, and if
that section had the app "X" listed.
Can be tested by spamming meta.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have app "X" in the favourites section of the application launcher
2. Uninstall app "X" through cli
3. Press meta (/your equivalent for the application launcher) right after
uninstall

OBSERVED RESULT
The panel and or app launcher freeze

Opening of application launcher without a freeze

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Happens on both x11 and wayland.
Lasts less than 10 seconds on my pc.
I'm writing an or, because I don't know how intertwined the panel and the
application launcher are.
I can't interact with the panel right after the uninstall, but I feel the app
launcher by itself shouldn't freeze the whole panel, so it must be intertwined
on some level.

SUMMARY

Closing the window with your window decoration's close button does not stop the
app from running.
When wanting to start it again from kickoff, you get an error message.
It is possible to exit the app completely with ctrl+q
I have only experienced this issue with freetube which runs in xwayland mode
(when using the enter picture in picture mode it shows the X logo)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. have Freetube running
2. close the window with your window decoration's close button

OBSERVED RESULT

The process for freetube remains running in the background, can be checked via
System monitor

EXPECTED RESULT

Fully close out the program

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: EndeavourOS
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4
KDE Frameworks Version:6.8.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1

Additional Information

I'm not sure what plasma component handles exiting applications, and wheter it
is fully a plasma bug or an electron one

2024-12-21 Thread Répási Dávid

1 This is a built in plasma feature as far as I can tell.
2 It has happened to me multiple times (the audio spiking and plasma
automuting/switching)
3 I have a jack based headphone
4 turning down the source volume is not the issue at hand and you can't even do
so when there is a sudden spike in the audio level -> you can't avoid the issue
the feature is protecting you from
4.1 lets suppose you turn down the audio level,in software, you would have to
turn it up at the hardware or vica versa to hear the normal audio comfortably,
so this is in no way a solution
5 I'm not familiar with pipewire filters and am not using them either (just
whatever is shipped by arch)

2025-02-14 Thread Répási Dávid
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499965

Another way to trigger the bug is by making the panel unresponsive whilst it is
touching an x window. When partially covered (ex windows go under) only the
part which touches the x window triggers the cursor, but the x cursor will only
be visible on the panel, not the xwayland window.
ex:
Using https://github.com/baduhai/Koi to change the system theme by middle
clicking it, makes my panel unresponsive whilst the change is happening. While
the panel is in that state I can hower over it with my mouse in an area that
touches an xwayland window, the bug appears.

Sorry bout that.
The video shows when i click outside of the are that kickoff has, it remains
open, and it even managed to grey/white itself out showing that it is indeed
non responsive.
'Show me the key' sadly won't capture meta as input, so i had to show fumbling
around the desktop.
Krunner and clicking outside (left or right) always automatically hides kickoff
when it is running normally.

I choose btop as an example because it is small, nnn will trigger it the same
way, or any app that updates the listed apps in kiskoff.

note on Spectacle: after 22 seconds the video starts dropping frames and after
30 the encode died, will test it more in a different issue

the end would've showed that when installing the app, the same thing happens.
also, when in the freeze state, hovering the favourited apps does nothing nor
can i click on the desktop, bc it freezes as well

I use yay, yes, but the same freeze happens with pacman. Btop is in the extra

0) Running 'kbuildsycoca6' gives the following error:
kbuildsycoca6 running...
kf.service.sycoca: The menu spec file ( "" ) contains a Layout or DefaultLayout
tag without the mandatory Merge tag inside. Please fix it.

1) This issue I found contains the same error message, but the fix mentioned
there does nothing on my end:

2) On the archwiki, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/KDE#Configuration_related,
there is a mention of this error message, but again, even when I empty the
menus folder, it still freezes.

3) After the above attempts I logged out and back in, and kbuildsycoca6 lost
it's error message and promptly froze my start menu and desktop when run.

tried with discover + flatpak, and when installing elisa (after the runtime
