[konversation] [Bug 371738] New: Crash trying to part #radeon

2016-10-27 Thread Luke-Jr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=371738

Bug ID: 371738
Summary: Crash trying to part #radeon
   Product: konversation
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konversation-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: luke-jr+kdeb...@utopios.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: konversation (1.6-branch #4910)

Qt Version: 5.6.1
Frameworks Version: 5.26.0
Operating System: Linux 4.4.21-gentoo x86_64
Distribution: "NAME=Gentoo"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Right-clicked on #radeon channel and tried to part it. I was prompted to
confirm, and when I clicked the Yes button it crashed. After restarting,
attempted to do the same, and it crashed again. This was before the part
command got sent to the server, leaving me in the channel when Konversation
started back up.

I was able to part #radeon successfully only by switching to the status tab and
typing /part #radeon

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

That commit seems to be a bug when closing the application, which I was not

Happening right now. Anything I can do to diagnose further?

I notice in this state, KRunner is functional, but never closes (eg, if I type
in kcalc and hit enter, KCalc opens, but KRunner remains open with the "kcalc"
entry typed in still). Esc does nothing. No way to close it.

2022-05-25 Thread Luke-Jr

Bug ID: 454412
Summary: Bookmarks should have a top-level menu item rather
than being hidden in the Go menu
   Product: kate
   Version: 22.04.1
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: luke-jr+kdeb...@utopios.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Prior to 22.04, Kate had a very usable top-level Bookmarks menu, accessible
quickly with Alt-B. After upgrading, it's hidden under a "Go" menu, which has
terrible usability.

Related (Dolphin has the same complaint):
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429453

(In the meantime, what do I need to downgrade to get this back?)

When you have a dozen or more bookmarks, you don't necessarily remember/care
whether they are up or down. Being able to quickly see the entire list and
select with the keyboard is crucial.

(I wonder if there's a way to generate the katepart5ui.rc with the Bookmarks

SUMMARY
The scroll position is no longer fixed as it ought to be.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set a Fixed size buffer (eg, 1000 lines as default)
2. while sleep 1; do date; done
3. Scroll up so new output isn't visible (eg, Shift-Up to go up one line)

OBSERVED RESULT
Scroll position constantly changes as there's new output beyond the visible
area

EXPECTED RESULT
Scroll position remains fixed and window contents unchanging

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Regression since 21.12.3 (I think)

Unlimited buffer doesn't have the problem, it appears

[kate] [Bug 458619] New: Left-side selector changed from vertical text to ugly large icons

2022-09-01 Thread Luke-Jr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458619

Bug ID: 458619
Summary: Left-side selector changed from vertical text to ugly
large icons
   Product: kate
   Version: 22.08.0
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: luke-jr+kdeb...@utopios.org
  Target Milestone: ---

The left side of Kate has always had a list of open documents, which works
well. At some point, a selector was added to choose between Documents,
Projects, or other plugins. That was fine. But with 22.08, it's become rather
large (40x40?) icons instead, which don't indicate what they are (unless you
open the tooltip) and waste a lot of screen space. There appears to be no way
to turn it off or make it smaller.

It appears the built-in SSH tunnelling cannot handle more than 1 connection at

[krdc] [Bug 442356] New: Restore ability to see both local+remote cursors

2021-09-12 Thread Luke-Jr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442356

Bug ID: 442356
Summary: Restore ability to see both local+remote cursors
   Product: krdc
   Version: 20.12.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: VNC
  Assignee: uwol...@kde.org
  Reporter: luke-jr+kdeb...@utopios.org
CC: aa...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Prior to v20.12.0, krdc (with Local Cursor enabled) showed a dot cursor
locally, while leaving the remote VNC server to deal with the remote cursor.
This worked nicely.

Now, enabling local cursor extracts the remote cursor shape, and hides it in
the remote view. This has numerous issues:
1) Can't see where the remote cursor is [with Local Cursor enabled]
2) Can't see where the real/local mouse cursor is [with it disabled]
3) Remote cursor shape is used in "View only" mode, even though it doesn't
really make sense (in this case, I expect to see the default cursor locally,
and the remote cursor wherever it remains remotely).
4) As documented, in some cases turning off "Local Cursor" forces a reconnect,
though the server may not accept a new session (eg, x11vnc by default).

Please restore the old behaviour. (Perhaps the new behaviour can remain as an
option if people prefer it.)

The issue seems to be that it's using the same themed foreground colour as the
KRunner text entry (which is black on white), while forcing a black background
colour. I actually do want it to be white-on-black (and KRunner to remain
black-on-white), though, so I'm not sure using the same theme bg colour used by
KRunner is the right answer either.

I have configured my right mouse button to activate windows without passing the
click ("Window Management"->"Window Behaviour"->"Window Actions" tab->"Inactive
Inner Window Actions"->"Right Click"->"Activate"), and it works within the
window contents, but if I right-click on titlebars or borders, I still get the
popup menus.

I realise "Inner Window" suggests this is by design, but I do not see a way to
configure identical behaviour on the "Titlebar Actions" tab either.

So when I want to remove focus from my active window, I have to pay careful
attention *not* to click a decoration, otherwise I end up with an unwanted
popup and focus doesn't change (so I need to try again).

[konsole] [Bug 89299] prevent paste of newline characters

2021-09-01 Thread Luke-Jr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89299

Luke-Jr changed:

I've noticed and found quite annoying the new bracketed paste feature.

I'm not sure it's a proper fix either, since pasting malicious data into
non-shells could still be a threat. Surely every single CLI application can't
be expected to interpret bracketed paste control characters?

Konversation has, for a long time, had a nice behaviour where it displays the
clipboard in a separate dialog for review prior to actually pasting. It only
does this for multi-line pastes, since it can guarantee single-line pastes will
be harmless (it remains in Konversation's own line entry box).

An ideal solution would probably involve untrusted sources marking the
clipboard as such - but I'm not sure programs can reliably determine if they
are trusted or not (it's entirely possible a README shown in Konsole might be
considered untrusted, for example).

[krunner] [Bug 440642] New: Regression: Switching to windows on another virtual desktop makes krunner obsessively reopen on the target desktop

2021-08-05 Thread Luke-Jr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440642

Bug ID: 440642
Summary: Regression: Switching to windows on another virtual
desktop makes krunner obsessively reopen on the target
desktop
   Product: krunner
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: windows
  Assignee: alexander.loh...@gmx.de
  Reporter: luke-jr+kdeb...@utopios.org
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

If I use Krunner to switch to a window on another virtual desktop, it will do
so, and then reopen on the new virtual desktop. Attempts to close KRunner then
fail (it reopens immediately). Attempts to change to another virtual desktop
result in KRunner force-switching back to the original target virtual desktop
(where it again reopens).

Only able to restore normal usage of KDE by running krunner --replace.

Affects at least krunner 5.82.0

Pretty sure it wasn't a problem in 5.80 or earlier, but not sure which version
was the first to regress.

Up until and including 20.12.3, selecting text in Konsole was very apparent
(IIRC, the foreground and background colours were switched).

With 21.04.0, it's very difficult to even see that text is selected at all: it
seems the only visual change is a slightly less dark background colour.

I don't see any way to get the original behaviour in settings/profile.

In fact, I am using QtCurve via Qt5 directly. I assume System Settings is
trying to load QGtkStyle for a preview, which is in turn using the QtCurve GTK2
style because that's what I have configured for GTK2 applications to use.

I am trying to change from QtCurve to Plastique. QGtkStyle is only involved at
all, because of the previews in System Settings.

KDevelop only uses QtWebEngine for its built-in documentation viewer. Since
QtWebEngine often has unfixed security vulnerabilities (about a dozen at this
moment), it would be nice to make it optional where practical to do so.

I'd prefer to forego the built-in documentation entirely (rather than pull in
QtWebEngine), but it's probably also possible to simply use XDG to open the
docs in whatever external HTML viewer the user has?

SUMMARY
I have a "Windows go below" panel on the top of my screen with a few applets
(pager & clock). I'm used to moving my mouse all the way up to it and clicking
the clock to get the calendar shown. But after upgrading to 5.26 (or 5.25? not
sure what I was running before my last reboot) there is a 1px space above it,
which causes the click to go to whatever window decoration happens to be behind
it.

Not fixing a major regression like this after so long would lead one to think
otherwise ;)

My approach for now is to simply not use Wayland. It seems to introduce
problems and regressions like this, for no benefit.

This is what I'm successfully using as of 5.26.1: http://dpaste.com/EHULW6PHM

The only thing that seems broken is if I maximise a shaded window, unshade it,
then try to unmaximise. But I'm not sure if that ever worked.

Shading and replacing kwin does seem to be fine, though.

[ktorrent] [Bug 449305] New: iblocklist (default) blocks KIO user agent

Bug ID: 449305

OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: joris.guis...@gmail.com
  Reporter: luke-jr+kdeb...@utopios.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
iBlockList apparently considers KIO's default user agent to be "impersonat[ing]
browsers when accessing our service so [they] have put a stop to that."

In practice, "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) KIO/5.88 ktorrent/20.12.3" is
being sent, so I guess they consider "Mozilla" to imply a web browser.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable IP filter plugin
2. Attempt to update it from the default URI

OBSERVED RESULT
Error

EXPECTED RESULT
Successful IP list download

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I was able to downgrade KIO to 5.80 to get the Browser Identification module
for System Settings, then used that to spoof a Wget user agent for
list.iblocklist.com. After upgrading KIO back to 5.88, KTorrent now works
again.

It seems like perhaps the Browser Identification module should be restored, and
KTorrent's default user agent adapted to not imply a browser (if iblocklist is
stubborn and keeps the block as-is).
