[korganizer] [Bug 478358] New: Agenda items should display contents from General textbox, not just Title

2023-12-10 Thread KDE end user
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478358

Bug ID: 478358
Summary: Agenda items should display contents from General
textbox, not just Title
Classification: Applications
   Product: korganizer
   Version: 5.15.3
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: agendaview (weekview)
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jim.c...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

This is a wishlist, but I want to see as much detail on a daily/weekly basis of
what's involved in each item, and just displaying the Title leaves lots of
wasted/empty space. Would be nice if this is a preference, but I am used to
having as much info on display as possible, so I moved on from KOrganizer when
I was looking for day planners, as this is a core usability/UI issue (for me).

[dolphin] [Bug 449537] New: Enabling show full path checkbox in Dolphin location bar is not preserved between invocations, '>' interface is hard to use

2022-02-02 Thread KDE end user
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=449537

Bug ID: 449537
Summary: Enabling show full path checkbox in Dolphin location
bar is not preserved between invocations, '>'
interface is hard to use
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 20.12.1
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: bars: location
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: jim.c...@gmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Doplhin
2. Right click on a folder in the location bar
3. Check checkbox "Show full path"
4. Quit Dolphin
5. Start Dolphin
6. Right click on a folder in the location bar

OBSERVED RESULT
Check box set in step 3, above, is not preserved between sessions.

EXPECTED RESULT
Check box set in step 3, above, should be preserved between sessions.
New interface is hard to use, trying to hit a single '>' character is
unnecessarily difficult, previous version wasn't such a challenge.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Bullseye 64 bit 11.2
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The whole breadcrumb location bar interface behaves inconsistently (bug
442239). I moved from Ubuntu 16.04 to Debian Bullseye, and thought I had set up
my system incorrectly. I had disks mounted in my home directory for extra
storage, but whenever I navigated to a directory in one of the mounted disks,
the location bar would change to the disk size, e.g. "367.7 GiB Hard Drive".
It's a horrible way to use a file browser, and I was quite pleased to be able
to switch back to the previous version (having to click on '>' is *really*
picky, but then I find that it's back to square one, as the location bar
setting of "show full path" isn't saved between each use of Dolphin. I just
want to use the previous UI style, as it was friendlier/easier, and
predictable.

[Powerdevil] [Bug 394081] New: No screen brightness control, and screen very dim, so very annoying, and laptop almost unusable

2018-05-10 Thread KDE end user
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394081

Bug ID: 394081
Summary: No screen brightness control, and screen very dim, so
very annoying, and laptop almost unusable
   Product: Powerdevil
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jim.c...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Hi,

I have just booted up my laptop, but the screen display is very dim. There
are no controls available in the battery and brightness notification widget (?)
for changing the screen brightness. When the laptop boots, the text is very
bright until it gets to a particular part of systemd booting, then the display
dims. Unfortunately, because the display is so dim, it's really difficult to do
any digging into the problem, and KDE is not presenting a way to set the screen
brightness, so it is not very easy to dig into the problem. I am not sure how
to categorise the problem, but screen brightness is not really a security
issue, but a user/usability preference issue. It is quite annoying, because
without a way to change the screen brightness to a readable level, the laptop
doesn't serve any useful purpose. I'm running on 64-bit Ubuntu 16.04, the
laptop is a Sony VPCEB3LOE. This is also my first bug report. I think the most
annoying thing is that as it is a dual boot machine, I have to switch to
windows to get anything done.

This is dealing with deleting data, not providing a way to re-enable
confirmation of emptying wastebin action is unprofessional/reckless.

[dolphin] [Bug 394968] No way to re-enable confirmation on empty wastebin action

2018-06-03 Thread KDE end user
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394968

--- Comment #2 from KDE end user ---
Hi Elvis,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I have 2 checkboxes that I can apply in the Dolphin Preference ->
General -> Confirmations:

  1) Moving files or folders to trash
   2) Deleting Files or Folders

Both are checked (have a small blue Square inside them).

If I select a file in Dolphin, choose Move to Trash, I get a dialog
asking if I really want to move this item to the wastebin. If I click the
Move to Wastebin button, the file is moved to the wastebin.

When I select the Trash icon in Dolphin, Choose the Empty Trash option,
the Wastebin is emptied, directly, that is, without a dialog box to ask if
I am sure.

Apart from not being prompted to confirm emptying the wastebin, it might
be a bit clearer if option (2), above, actually said Confirm when Emptying
Trash, as this is the action listed on the pop-up menu.

I am using Ubuntu 16.04.4 amd64. Dolphin version, from Dolphin Help ->
About Dolphin is:

  Dolphin 15.12.3,
  KDE frameworks 5.18.0,
  Qt 5.5.1 (built against 5.5.1)
  the xcb windowing system.

  Hope this helps,

  Kind regards,

  Jim

Hi Elvis,

Quick follow up - there is a Delete option on the Dolphin File menu,
which I never use, which might be for the second option. But in that case,
there is no option to confirm emptying the trash, which was my original bug
report.

  Thanks again,

   Kind regards,

   Jim
