[dolphin] [Bug 464957] New: Dolphin does not recognise file ratings
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464957 Bug ID: 464957 Summary: Dolphin does not recognise file ratings Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: 22.12.1 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: i...@dinospuren.de CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** If "Show additional information" -> "Ratings" is checked, existing file ratings are only shown in the info panel, but not in the file view as expected (only the default five empty stars appear). Also, "Sort by" -> "Rating" does not has any affect. It seems that ratings are correctly stored and shown in the info panel, but are otherwise ignored. This used to work, it is therefore probably a regression. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Dolphin, assign rating of a random file by selecting that file and clicking into the rating field in the info panel (e.g., to assign five stars). 2. A: Select "Menu" -> "Show additional information" -> "Rating". B: Select "Menu" -> "Sort by" -> "Rating". OBSERVED RESULT A. The file view shows 0 stars for that file, while the info panel correctly shows the five stars. B. The file view does not sort by rating, since the ratings are not recognised. EXPECTED RESULT A. The file view should show a rating of five stars. B. The file view should sort by rating. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[gwenview] [Bug 464958] New: Gwenview erroneously shows "You reached the last document" message when trying to switch to the next picture before the whole folder was loaded.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464958 Bug ID: 464958 Summary: Gwenview erroneously shows "You reached the last document" message when trying to switch to the next picture before the whole folder was loaded. Classification: Applications Product: gwenview Version: 22.12.1 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: gwenview-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: i...@dinospuren.de Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** The issue: I open the first image of a large image folder in gwenview (in normal windowed mode, not in slideshow/fullscreen), and after a short time (less than a second) hit space to show the next image. Instead of showing the next image, a message is shown "You reached the last document", even though this is not the case. This applies to larger image folders; on my fast laptop it occurs in folders with more than 1000 image files a 2.5 MB each, for example. Such large folders are common; cameras usually have such large image folder sizes. It happens very often to me and is quite annoying. Note that, when I am viewing the actually last image of the folder, this message is not shown; instead, it automatically wraps to the first image in the folder (the message is shown in fullscreen/slideshow mode, though). *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Click on the first image file of a large photo directory (e.g., ~1500 photos on a fast laptop) to open gwenview. 2. Immediately hit "space", trying to show the next image. OBSERVED RESULT The "You reached the last document" message is shown instead of switching to the next image. EXPECTED RESULT Switch to the next image (with delay if necessary) without showing that erroneous message. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[gwenview] [Bug 464959] New: Gwenview does not remember sorting settings
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464959 Bug ID: 464959 Summary: Gwenview does not remember sorting settings Classification: Applications Product: gwenview Version: 22.12.1 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: gwenview-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: i...@dinospuren.de Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** "Sort by" -> "Rating" correctly sorts by rating. After closing gwenview and starting it again, however, this option is still selected as indicated in the drop-down menu "Menu" -> "Sort by". This suggests that the current folder is sorted by rating. In fact, however, the sorting is by name, not by rating: Only clicking on the (apparently already activated) "rating" entry of the pop-up will actually sort by rating. The exactly same problem occurs with other sort options (e.g., "size") too. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use dolphin to go to an folder with some image files. Assign ratings to them (either with dolphin or gwenview). 2. Click on one of the files to start gwenview. Switch to "Browse", and select "Menu" -> "Sort by" -> "Rating". 3. Close gwenview and start again to show an image of the image folder. Switch to "Browse" mode. OBSERVED RESULT The drop-down menu "Menu" -> "Sort by" shows that "Rating" is selected. It therefore seems to remember the setting of the previous session. However, the images are not sorted by rating, but by name. EXPECTED RESULT The images should be sorted by rating. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[dolphin] [Bug 440440] New: Middle Click on Bookmark items doesn't open them in new tab
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440440 Bug ID: 440440 Summary: Middle Click on Bookmark items doesn't open them in new tab Product: dolphin Version: 21.04.3 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: i...@dinospuren.de CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Middle clicking on Bookmark items open them in the current tap; they should open in new tab instead. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start Dolphin, show menu bar, navigate to "Go" -> "Bookmarks" 2. Middle-click on an existing bookmark. OBSERVED RESULT The bookmark opens in the current tab. EXPECTED RESULT The bookmark should open in a new tab, which is the behavior in other Dolphin features (such as in the "Go" -> "Recently Closed Tabs" feature). The current behavior, therefore, is 1) inconsistent and 2) distracts the workflow of power users. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[dolphin] [Bug 429453] Bookmarks should have a top-level menu item rather than being hidden in the Go menu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429453 Jens Lallensack changed: What|Removed |Added CC||i...@dinospuren.de --- Comment #4 from Jens Lallensack --- I agree that Bookmarks should have its own top-level entry in the menu. If you use this feature, you will use it very frequently, so it has to be accessible quickly with Alt+B. Burying it within the "Go" menu requires an additional click each time, which slows down power users. Since the menu bar is now hidden by default in any case, an additional entry there shouldn't confuse users too much any longer. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[dolphin] [Bug 306257] Add a feature so that we can save and restore a dolphin session
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=306257 Jens Lallensack changed: What|Removed |Added CC||i...@dinospuren.de --- Comment #14 from Jens Lallensack --- Note that there is the recently added "Bookmark Tabs as Folder…" feature, which does the most important thing: Saving all tabs. The "session" can then be restored with "Open Folder in Tabs". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[dolphin] [Bug 429453] Bookmarks should have a top-level menu item rather than being hidden in the Go menu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429453 --- Comment #6 from Jens Lallensack --- Maybe I need to change my opinion. I now think that the menu bar is not suitable as the (only) place for features that you need to access very frequently. You would have to keep the menubar visible at all times for quick access, which is not ideal (I would personally like to keep the menubar hidden AND effectively use the bookmarks feature). Instead, I think that the toolbar is the best place for such frequently used features. It is easy to go to "Configure toolbars" and add the "Bookmarks" entry manually. "Bookmarks" is a feature for power users, and these people can be expected to add the tool bar icon by themselves. The toolbar seems to be the natural solution to me. A downside is that the "Bookmarks" entry, if you add it to the toolbar, does not have a shortcut associated with it, and I am unable to define one. This seems to be a missing feature that should be easy to add. There still is the valid argument of consistency with other apps like Konsole and Kate. People might ask "why to I have to use the toolbar here, but the menu in the other apps for the same feature?". However, Dolphin is different in that the menu bar is hidden by default (and thus, "Alt" + modifier does not work by default in any case). If a "Bookmarks" entry is to appear in the menu bar for the sake of consistency, then, following the same argument, there should also be a separate "Sessions" menu if that feature is implemented some point in the future (since Kate has a separate menu entry for this as well). The menu bar may thus become quite complicated, cluttered with options that most users never use – too much for such a basic application like Dolphin, not simple by default anymore. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[dolphin] [Bug 306257] Add a feature so that we can save and restore a dolphin session
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=306257 --- Comment #16 from Jens Lallensack --- @MountainX I only learned about it by trying things out. Try this: 1) open some tabs you want to save 2) show menu bar (Ctrl + m) 3) navigate to "Go" -> "Bookmarks" -> "Bookmark tabs as folder". You can enter a folder name, or just keep it blank and hit enter (it will be named "New Folder" then). Now, the new folder will appear in the bookmark list, which you find in "Go" -> "Bookmarks". 4) close Dolphin and re-open, and again "Go" -> "Bookmarks" -> "New Folder" -> "Open Folder in Tabs" to restore the session. Note that this will restore the tabs only, but additional things like scroll bar positions won't be saved. But for me personally the ability to just to save the tabs is all I need. Note that you can add an entry "Bookmark tabs as folders" to the tool bar for quick access ("Settings" -> "Configure Toolbars…"). Likewise, the "Bookmarks" toolbar entry will grant you quick access to all saved bookmarks and folders. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Spectacle] [Bug 431613] New: When calling Rectangular Region screenshot via a global shortcut, the mouse pointer will freeze and may appear in screenshot unintentionally

Open the settings of Spectacle and define a global shortcut for "Capture Rectangular Region". In my case, the shortcut is Meta+R 2. Turn off the option "Include mouse pointer" 3. Quit Spectacle. You may see the desktop or another window. 4. Make sure the mouse pointer is visible on the screen, and hit the shortcut (in my case Meta+R). Now the mouse pointer immediately freezes at its current position, and a new (second) "grabby hand" mouse pointer appears to adjust the rectangular region for the screenshot. 5. Make sure the rectangular region includes the frozen mouse pointer. Hit "Enter" to do the screenshot. OBSERVED RESULT The frozen mouse pointer appears in the screenshot, although the "include mouse pointer" option is still unchecked. EXPECTED RESULT Once the "grabby hand" mouse pointer of Spectacle appears, the original mouse pointer should disappear rather than freeze in place. No mouse pointer should be visible in the screenshot. [plasmashell] [Bug 501066] Weather Report widget always disappears after reboot
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501066 --- Comment #11 from Jens Lallensack --- (In reply to Ismael Asensio from comment #10) I just tested that: After following the testing steps (see above), I tried to add 13 different applets, including the weather applet, covering the entire desktop. After logout and login, the weather applet was the only one to disappear, all the other ones work as expected. Another bug I noted that I am pretty sure has the same cause. This is always reproducible: 1) Create a new user account, and log into that account 2) Add the weather applet to the middle of the Desktop. Notice this: The appletsrc config file has NOT been updated. This file is identical to the default one, without the weather applet. 3) Log out and log in again. Notice this now: The weather applet is still there, BUT forgot its position and now appears on the top left of the Desktop. However, the appletsrc config file has been updated during the login process, now with an entry for the weather applet, and from now on, the applet will remembers its position settings and behaves normally. Let me know if I should open a separate bug for this one, but I really suspect these are two symptoms of the same issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I tried to set up the account mostly the same way as the other, but I couldn't trigger the bug, after multiple log-outs and log-ins. It was a bit unstable (first time after adding it on a fresh account, it moved itself to the top left; and one time, it lost its settings so I had to re-configure). But the widget itself never disappeared completely. Note that I am on a laptop without any monitor attached, and that, when I re-add the widget, it still remembers the right weather station.
