[kdelibs] [Bug 356214] Cannot type accented Asturian vowels áéíóú and umlaut ü in any KDE application

(In reply to marcodv from comment #12)
> There is another thread on Qt bug tracker:
>
> In short, the KDE Plasma from archrepos has this issue. Interestingly, KDE
> Neon doesn't have this issue. Maybe Ubuntu does some downstream patching,
> but clean packages sourced from kde are affected.

In KaOS, setting the locale to en_US and keyboard to Asturian variant, I can
type áÁéÉíÍóÓúÚüÜḶḷḤḥñÑ

That's strange.

Great! i'll will wait for that.

Thanks. Bye

> It's actually easier than that, and we just need to update that software :)
> The latest version seems to support 3-letter language codes. I will ask
> Albert Astals, the maintainer of the translation system, to update it.

I didn't test it on KDE 4 but probably it wouldn't work neither. However, I
reported a similar bug to OpenSUSE (as you can see here
https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/415114) and it seems to be fixed but i
cannot check it because they didn't update the related packages at the moment.

This annoying (and maybe critical) bug prevents me to use my PC, and coordinate
and update Asturian translations on KDE...

[neon] [Bug 366431] New: áÁéÉíÍóÓúÚüÜ cannot be typed in any KDE app using Asturian language and keyboard

2016-08-04 Thread Enol P . via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366431

Bug ID: 366431
Summary: áÁéÉíÍóÓúÚüÜ cannot be typed in any KDE app using
Asturian language and keyboard
   Product: neon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: en...@softastur.org
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org

The key combination for typing áÁéÉíÍóÓúÚüÜ does not working by setting "España
- asturianu (ast_ES)" locale and "Asturian (Spain, with bottom-dot H and
bottom-dot L)" keyboard layout in any KDE application, GTK applications work
fine with it. On the other hand, Ḥḥ, Ḷḷ and Ññ Asturian letters are typed
correctly in KDE and GTK applications.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set system locale to "España - asturianu (ast_ES)" in Regional Settings
2. Set keyboard layout to "Asturian (Spain, with bottom-dot H and bottom-dot
L)" in Input devices -> Keyboard -> Layouts
3. Open any KDE app and try to type any accented áÁéÉíÍóÓúÚüÜ using the correct
key combination

Actual Results:
áÁéÉíÍóÓúÚüÜ are not showed in any KDE app. If you try to write one of them,
they are shown as aAeEiIoOuUuU

Expected Results:
áÁéÉíÍóÓúÚüÜ must be showed correctly using the correct key combination
