[kde] [Bug 499043] New: How to remove a user given permission to a Flatpak Application

2025-01-23 Thread Bruce Wayne
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499043

Bug ID: 499043
Summary: How to remove a user given permission to a Flatpak
Application
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: rmalla...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 177610
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=177610&action=edit
removing permission in flatseal comapred to settings

SUMMARY

How does one remove a given permission to flatpak application without
removing/resetting the another given permission . Say for example i give Brave
Flatpak permission to have access to my A,B,C folder situated in my home to do
so i go to system settings - application permission - flatpak permission -
Brave - File System Access there i select the plus Add New icon and then select
the file system path and select A folder and then under permission(probably) i
select read write and last press ok. I do this for all 3 of them A, B, and C.
Now suppose i want to remove permission for folder B there is no option for
removing the permission instead i have to remove all of the add folder access
permission by pressing the default button at the bottom. Compared to flatseal
there is a cross next to user file access added permission which can be pressed
to remove only that permission without affecting the remaining other given
permission

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. go to system settings
2. application permission
3. flatpak permission
4. select Brave
5. go to File System Access and press add new and add access to a folder

OBSERVED RESULT

after adding multiple permission there is no cross to remove only a selected
permission

EXPECTED RESULT

a cross next to the added permission to remove it instead of a check mark
toggle

Yes, that'd be helpful and probably it will be easier to debug that way since
you can reproduce the problem.

Also, can you try enabling all logging by doing:

export QT_LOGGING_RULES="*=true"

Then reproduce the issue and quit kate.

Can you try something similar to what the person in the linked bug tried? E.g.,

That's interesting, I am using the UK extended windows keyboard layout.

So probably in my system there is a wrong identification of shortcuts, so maybe
it is a plasma issue instead of Kate but I was able to spot it there.

I have configured as ctrl+alt+ò but I am getting another ambigous window for
ctrl+o.
I am attaching the log again.

I haven't experienced this problem during regular non-root usage.

I've managed to boil the problem down a little bit more. It doesn't matter who
owns the directory, it's only about copying a file from a non-root Dolphin
instance to a root instance. I did a few more experiments:

1. I tried copying a file from a non-root owned directory opened as non-root to
another non-root owned directory opened as root. It was slow.
2. I tried copying it back. It was fast.
3. I tried the same, but with both directories opened as root. It was fast.
4. I tried copying a file using a single instance of Dolphin opened as root. It
was fast.

I don't use Wayland, and I have yet to test the behavior on Wayland.

OK – I guess it makes sense for me to wait for Plasma 6.3 to roll into my
Debian Testing installation before I reopen this feature request. However, the
previous whitelist (i.e., a list of devices that should not disable the
touchpad) approach worked really well around the problem of devices
inappropriately reporting themselves as mice – which sadly exist and definitely
cannot be educated to report in differently.

I just tested it with 24.12.1 with the same results. Okular prints a 100mm wide

Printed with 0.05mm line width and measured with calipers.

That worked, thank you!

Now only two questions remain:
* Is there a way to set the default to "original size"?
* Wouldn't a user expect a PDF with margins already at least as wide as the
printers (e.g. created with a word processor) to be printed as is, without it
being scaled down unnecessarily (in this case)?

The output from openvpn has text mixed into the data, the current parsing
doesn't consider that

Use a RegEx that targets the data format more closely

Disabling the compositor doesn't go away for me (Manjaro, 8 × AMD Ryzen 7 4700U
with Radeon Graphics, kwin-6.2.4-2). Can we raise the severity of this bug?
It's having some actual impact on my hardware. If I leave the laptop I find it
warm with the fan hard at work when locked. I know that can be inferred from
"high CPU load", but a regression like that (without a workaround) is quite
severe for the affected users IMO. I guess we're not that many, given the
response rate here, but still.
