The only way I've found to work around the issue, is to fully downgrade KDE
Plasma and related packages. Just downgrading Konsole does not fix this bug,
sadly. I am facing these issues on the latest versions of KDE Plasma and
related packages on Fedora 39 (X11) as well, very annoying.

[kdenlive] [Bug 479069] New: External title clip default settings

2023-12-27 Thread Andrej M.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479069

Bug ID: 479069
Summary: External title clip default settings
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 23.08.4
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: User Interface
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: andrej.mer...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Dear maintainers,

to speedup workflow I usually create external title clips and then import them
into the project. This enables me to do bulk changes via a text editor, without
breaking the project.

This works fine, except when I make some changes to them inside the project.
After confirming the changes, it always asks me "Do you want to save your
changes to the title file or save the changes for this project only?" and I
always click "Save to title file", after that it asks "Do you want to embed
Images into this TitleDocument?" and I always click "No".

Please consider adding default settings for these two dialogs. For example:
Save changes for external titles: In the title file|In the project|Always ask
Embed Images into external titles: Yes|No|Always ask

Always ask would be the default option.

Best regards,
Andrej

[kwin] [Bug 478301] Log spam "drmPrimeHandleToFD() failed: No such file or directory" (Wayland, virtualization)

2023-12-27 Thread Stefan Hoffmeister
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478301

The root cause of this is a combination of factors that hit with kwin running
in "legacy mode" (this is the default right now due to driver detection and
workarounds applied), on the DRM backend:

Upon starting the Wayland compositor, output management adds outputs
(WaylandCompositor::addOutput). In there, events are connected to handle
workspace geometry changes and changes to the cursor (updateCursorLayer,
moveCursorLayer).

Lambda updateCursorLayer is responsible for handling cursor "content" change.
It does that by trying to render a hardware cursor first, and, if that fails,
then rendering a fallback.

On vmwgfx as of kernel 6.7.0-rc5, trying to render a hardware cursor will
*always* fail with "drmPrimeHandleToFD() failed" (and more log messages), and
updating the cursor will always enter the fallback path. This causes the log
spam.

There is a way to disable the attempt to perform hardware cursor rendering:
configure environment variable "KWIN_FORCE_SW_CURSOR=1" to enter the
(software-based cursor rendering) fallback path immediately. This stops the
logspam.

I can reproduce this bug on one machine but not on a different one.
Both running Arch Linux
Both running qt6.7
Both running plasma 6 beta 2.

Looking at the differences between my systems:
The one that has the issue is a small tablet pc running intel integrated
graphics.
The system that does not have the issue is a desktop running an amd gpu.
My laptop has a touch screen, my desktop does not.

The issue also does not occur on my other laptop which still runs plasma 5.27
which is in other regards fairly similar in terms of setup.

Ok, weird stuff is happening after trying to reproduce. I can confirm things
aren't working as they should, but I have to note:
- I tried it while my system was connected to a TB16 docking, which has the
external monitor coupled.
- I can't report the crash due to
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478883
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478885

I do have the bug reports saved locally, although drkonqi reports it is not
usable. let me know if they are still of interest.

Fps is around 30

Today I installed both Fedora rawhide & Neon Unstable. Both felt very choppy.
Animations felt laggy and youtube videos were dropping frames. When I enable
show fps effect, it shows I am running around 30 fps instead of 60. I observe
the same thing on Fedora & Neon.
I am also running an Intel APU, 9th gen i5(9500) to be precise. Plasma 5 runs
fine on it.

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 477995] Icons missing with Papirus icon theme

david <12david...@gmail.com> changed:

--- Comment #10 from david <12david...@gmail.com> ---
The issue is with the symbolic icons. With Papirus logout icons, they are all
circles with different colors, but when symbolic, the only thing that can be
seen is the shape. I would like to have colorful icons, it greatly improves
visibility. And normal icons are so much better as they can follow the current
color scheme. Customization is one of Plasma's best features, so please don't
take it away from us. It would be nice having a tickbox like "Use symbolic
icons" (somewhere related to Plasma style). Take a look at Materia-kde theme.
It has a colorful and symbolic variant. They both use Papirus icons. Right now,
you can't replicate those themes in Plasma 6.

1. open Dolphin
2. navigate to a directory with more than one file
3. press Alt + F3 to open a Window Operations menu
4. expand the "More Actions" entry
5. select the "Move" entry from the expanded menu
6. press the Enter key
7. press one of the arrows (up/down/left/right) on your keyboard

OBSERVED RESULT

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora Linux 39
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.9
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.111.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
1. Unwanted actions happen with other applications (e. g. in Konsole cycles
through the history of the last commands) as well.
2. The use case makes more sense, if you assign Alt+F7 to the move window
operation (like it's in e.g. MATE Desktop by default) and try to operate
Dolphin totally from keyboard.

2023-12-27 Thread NSLW

Bug ID: 479078
Summary: No keyboard shortcut for focusing on Places panel
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 23.08.3
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Target Milestone: ---

Alt-tabbing to the Places panel frequently is cumbersome (need to press Alt+Tab
multiple times) and unpredictable (depending on the number of elements opened
the number of needed Alt+Tab presses changes).

Moreover there is no configurable shortcut for focusing on the Places panel.

I suggest to move focus automatically to the Places panel after pressing F9
(default shortcut for hiding and showing it) just like it's done for Ctrl+F for
searching or Ctrl+I for for filtering, where the focus moves automatically to
the search filed and filter field respectively.

[plasmashell] [Bug 479079] New: "Power and Battery" doesn't appear in System Tray when discharging when using "Shown when relevant"

2023-12-27 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Bug ID: 479079
Summary: "Power and Battery" doesn't appear in System Tray when
discharging when using "Shown when relevant"
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.91.0
  Platform: NixOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: System Tray
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jonatan+...@jsteuernagel.de
CC: mate...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
"Power and Battery" doesn't appear in System Tray when using "Shown when
relevant" and the device is discharging

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set "Power and Battery" to "Shown when relevant"
2. Use Laptop without external power

OBSERVED RESULT
Battery icon does not appear in system tray on Plasma 6 Beta 2, even when
unplugged from power, which it previously did in Plasma 5.

EXPECTED RESULT
Battery icon appears in system tray, when the battery is discharging.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: NixOS-unstable with kde2nix flake
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.91.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.247.0
Qt Version: 6.6.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Device in question is a Thinkpad T480, which has 2 batteries. 1 internal one
and 1 external one, which discharge separately (One is "discharging", the other
one "Not charging"). This is picked up correctly in the Power and Battery
Popup, but maybe related to it not detecting that the device as a whole is not
plugged into power.

2023-12-27 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=476375

--- Comment #54 from holyzo...@trash-mail.com ---
Yepp I have a TV attached as well and I am affected by the bug.
Speaking of that, I saw that I had a systray there too, where the
"Brightness/Powedevil" entry was. I disabled that from systray since I do not
need it twice. Now it's only on my primary in systray.
And now I can start Powerdevil again with the TimeoutSec workaround.
I set it to TimeoutSec=44sec

It runs but it has 2 glitches:

1. I can not set the Power Profile (Power Save v Balanced v Performance) in the
Plasma session. The systray entry slider slips back. However when I log out and
back in, the slider is where I had just wanted to set it and it appears to be
working.

(in the System Settings > Power Management > Energy Saving, it appears to be
the same issue, but there is a 4th option: Leave unchanged. Selecting this does
not fix the slider issue I guess. But maybe a good option if you're affected by
the bug?)

2. I can set the brightness only for my primary screen.

of Rahul Rameshbabu.
Committed on 27/12/2023 at 16:23.
Pushed by nicolasfella into branch 'master'.

Add GlobalProtect SAML based authentication support with OpenConnect VPN

Pass HTTP response headers to libopenconnect SAML handling functionality.
libopenconnect will process the headers and authenticate with GlobalProtect
gateways.

This change depends on Qt>=6.6 for the needed changes in QtWebEngine that
enable HTTP response header extraction.

I can't reproduce. What I did was:
1. have an external monitor (Dell U2718Q) connected through docking Dell TB16
on a XPS13 laptop. External is configured as main.
2. have both displays connected
3. Go to settings, display config, unselect "Enabled" on the external monitor.
4. The screen focusses on the built-in screen as expected. No flickering on
unexpected behaviour. The monitor tries to find a signal and finding none, it
goes into sleep mode.
5. Wait until the display config times out as it does not get a confirmation
(takes 15secs).
6. the system defaults to original settings, which has the external display as
main and the monitor comes out of sleep mode.

Let me know if I tested correctly or what I should do. I don't fully comprehend
what the G27Q is doing.

That response makes sense to me. While it's a weird workaround, using
DRM_CLIENT_CAP_CURSOR_PLANE_HOTSPOT (or maybe better, DRM_CLIENT_CAP_ATOMIC) to
ensure old clients don't get changed behavior is acceptable.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Create folders "111" and "222" and files "111.txt" and "222.txt" in the same
location
2. Select all the created folders and files and copy them somewhere else
3. Select all the created folders and files again and copy them to the same
place where you copied them in the previous step; click "Skip" when you are
asked to overwrite folders

OBSERVED RESULT

You will not be asked to overwrite files, they will be automatically skipped.

EXPECTED RESULT

You will be asked about overwriting files too.

Tested 8.3.0. No crashes sofar and faster startup than 8.2.0 with Qt6. However
feels slower than 8.2.0 with Qt5.
One other issue is HiDPI parameter. Enabling and disabling does not make a
difference, the font is too small now.

This is might be just a setting I am not finding;
The “Peek Desktop” button on the corner of the taskbar, when clicked show the
desktop as intended, however, it doesn’t transfer the focus/interactivity into
the desktop, which is kind of annoying when trying to select files with the
keyboard after clicking the “Peek Desktop” button, which result in sorting the
taskbar icons, instead of the desktop files and folders.

Or to simplify: I need the “Peek Desktop” button to also minimize the taskbar
itself, so i can navigate the Desktop files/folders.

This image shows the cursor over the dead space that doesn't show neither
window.

Possibly two very specific issues, affects mostly photographers, i assume.

1- When peeking windows they have a Fade effect, mostly noticeable when
comparing two photos by moving cursor over their “preview windows”.

2- The top and bottom of “preview windows squares” are not interactable, which
makes it difficult to compare two photos.

PS: The fade effect happens on all windows, it’s not because of the gnome
program.

Why should I install build-essential as an end user anyway? I thought the idea

Demo of bug on launcher

SUMMARY
Seemingly at random, the panel does not open the widget. The panel appears to
be toggling correctly (line appears above panel widget), but no window appears.
When the widget is "open", I cannot interact with it using the keyboard.

Occasionally, I also cannot invoke KRunner.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click/invoke open-able widget (Launcher, System Tray, etc)

OBSERVED RESULT
The requested widget "opens", but does not create a window and I cannot
interact with it.

EXPECTED RESULT
The requested widget opens and I can interact with it.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 39
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.10
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.111.0
Qt Version: 5.15.11

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
See attached videos. It doesn't matter if I click or use the meta key to
invoke. No information/error shows up in the syslog. Clicking/invoking the
widget over and over will eventually work, but then might not work again on the
next press. I've tried recreating the panel, moving it around, making new
widgets. Even more randomly, sometimes the entire panel will get a line above
it, as if I had one long widget. (see image)

With Qt6 HiDPI is always activated, we will remove the options in the setup.
You have to set the font to your desired size in the setup, this is possible in
various places. For the album/tag tree and for the menus.
