[dolphin] [Bug 453756] Location bar resets after several seconds when typing
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453756 --- Comment #21 from Luca Manganelli --- I think I finally found the cause of this bug! [systemsettings] [Bug 154804] Add option for alternative Drag&Drop behaviour
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154804 --- Comment #62 from jimbo --- It seems pretty intuitive that dragging and dropping is by default a move operation. It's nice to have the option to prompt beginners as to what they want to do, but it soon becomes a nuisance. Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V are not 'poweruser' shortcuts, they are as commonly used as Ctrl+Z and Esc. If users want to copy a file then Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V are most likely used, not via the context menu. If you can copy/paste text, then the same applies to files. Initially you might learn to click the file, select copy, navigate to a different folder and select paste. However copy/pasting is used so often (throughout all programs) that it's one of the first shortcut keys you learn, same applies to undo (no one goes through the context menu for it once they learn the shortcut). Windows allows the user to alter the outcome of the drag and drop during the operation. If you want to copy or create a link then there are modifier keys that can be held down. Using the modifier keys, there is visual feedback like a '+' sign or 'arrow' added to the mouse cursor, but if no modifier key is pressed then it defaults to move. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Powerdevil] [Bug 406790] No OSD shown when adjusting the keyboard backlight using keyboard keys that cycle through brightness levels rather than explicitly raising or lowering brightness
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406790 --- Comment #7 from Werner Sembach [TUXEDO] --- Thanks for adding me to the loop. I would apprechiate a proper keyboard backlight cycle key implementation. Just last week I probed the lkml for feedback and interest: https://lore.kernel.org/all/20230530110550.18289-1-...@tuxedocomputers.com/ I don't know how Qt keycodes map to linux kernel keycodes, because currently there are only 3 keycodes for backlight control in the kernel: Up, Down, and Toggle. [kalarm] [Bug 470477] Cannot create alarms
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470477 --- Comment #6 from David Jarvie --- This problem is clearly due to Akonadi. It is because of its unreliability that KAlarm (since version 3, released in 2020 in KDE Apps 20.08) no longer uses Akonadi. Upgrading would be the most reliable way to fix the issue. In the meantime, I suggest trying the following. In each case, quit KAlarm first before running the fix. In a terminal window, run the commands akonadictl vacuum akonadictl fsck If that doesn't fix things, run the commands akonadictl stop rm ~/.config/akonadi_*kalarm*rc rm ~/.config/akonadi/*_kalarm* If that still doesn't fix things, all I can think of is to completely wipe Akonadi's configuration. WARNING: this should only be done if you don't use any other KDE PIM applications which use Akonadi, such as KMail, KOrganizer, KNotes (and possibly others), since those applications could lose data. It would be wise to back up all files and directories before deleting them, so that you can reinstate them afterwards if things go wrong. To wipe the Akonadi configuration, akonadictl stop rm -rf ~/.config/akonadi* rm -rf ~/.local/share/akonadi* -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

This is supposed to display geotagged images on a map. This is an important application for which there currently appears to be only one program that can do this Adobe Lightroom. For those of us who do not use Lightroom, digiKam should be a very useful alternative. Unfortunately digikam 8.0 does not work for me. I was able to open a folder of geotagged files and when I pressed the MAP button, I obtained a screen map of the United Kingdom as shown in the attachment. The circles seem to indicate 52 RAW images (all geotagged) plus 55 JPG images of which 52 are geotagged. I am unable to enlarge this map any further. I had expected to be able to enlarge this map further and as it expanded thumbnail sized images to be shown where each image was taken. Could you kindly advise if this is likely to be a forthcoming upgrade. You might like to be aware that the new owner of Olympus cameras has withdrawn there support for displaying geotagged images on a computer monitor, even though they upgraded the app for adding geotags.
