[kwin] [Bug 456280] WindowHeap window draw calls depend on draw calls of current desktop (freezes windows from other desktops until current desktop updates)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=456280 --- Comment #32 from bastimeyer...@gmail.com --- Is there a chance for anyone of the kwin devs to have a look at this, so this can be fixed in the upcoming Plasma 6 release? This issue isn't that problematic for the overview effect, but it pretty much is for the desktop grid where the desktop contents are shown in a much larger area on the screen. The whole purpose of the desktop grid is to show the contents of the other desktops, and if the desktop contents are not up2date because the grid effect only gets redrawn when the current desktop updates, then this makes the whole effect useless. It's also a big usability issue and it is annoying workflow-wise for lots of people. Would it make sense as a temporary (inefficient and wasteful) workaround to draw the contents of each desktop of the current activity on each output frame while the respective effects (overview / grid) are shown? Otherwise, from what I understand, each desktop of the current activity would have to be checked on each output frame when something was updated, and then the effect would need to be redrawn only in these cases. Please have a look at this issue... :/ -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461078 fluffy changed: What|Removed |Added CC||flu...@beesbuzz.biz --- Comment #3 from fluffy --- This happens on the 5.1.5 macOS build as well. The nature of this bug makes me wonder if the export is compositing the layers after scaling, rather than compositing the whole image first before scaling it to the target size. Is that the case, and if so, is there some reason for it to work that way? That could cause issues with accuracy with alpha blending on more complex images. The obvious workaround from an end-user perspective is to currently save out the image at its current resolution and then to use an external tool such as Imagemagick to resize the final image, or doing a select all/copy merged/paste into new image that then gets scaled down. It would be nice if the export function did that automatically, though. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 469959] Flatpak windows do not remember their size/position
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469959 --- Comment #2 from Plata --- Looks like I was wrong. I thought that this is handled by KWin/the framework and not the app itself. In the tests below, Flatpak and native behave the same: with "Placement=Maximizing" - Elisa opens with the last size/position (not maximized) - Audiotube opens maximized without "Placement=Maximizing" - Elisa opens with the last size/position - Audiotube opens centered with a default size To be honest, I'm a bit confused about who is responsible to handle this: The KWin placement setting indicates that it's KWin but if even two Kirigami apps behave differently... Without knowing the internals, my expectation from a user perspective would be that KWin can force any window (including GTK etc) to follow the system configuration. Does this mean that every app must store its last position/size individually? If so, what's the reason for this? Why doesn't KWin handle this? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469192 --- Comment #6 from Sergio --- Not a bad cable. As a matter of fact, I perfectly see the sddm screen on the monitor and logging in I see the plasma screen. Simply, when the issue occurs, I see the plasma screen with no "desktop" (no wallpaper image, no desktop folder view, only a large black region). This happens more frequently when — with one user logged in — I switch to another user. Pressing ALT-F2 to get the krunner and entering `plasmashell --replace` plasma restarts just fine. All this makes me thing of a 'race' or a timing issue wrt the startup phase of plasma. I see the issue: - on a laptop machine that is not so recent by today's standard, with haswell i7-4750HQ and a graphics unit that is not a workhorse (Intel Crystal Well Integrated Graphics Controller, rev 08); - using an attached monitor, so that the attached screen is primary and the laptop screen is disabled. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470046 --- Comment #3 from Dmitry Sharshakov --- A possible UX for this: Ctrl- or Shift-click (either in per-app menu or Devices panel) to add an output. If Ctrl+Shift are used together, remove the output from the combo. These targets can be managed using `slaves` property of the combine sink. Also, it'd be nice to set name according to targets, e.g. "WH-1000XM4 + Laptop Speakers". Please make sure to load combine-sink only when there're more than one output as well as removing it as soon as only one output is left. In case per-app menu will support that combine feature, exclude combine-sink nodes when Shift is held, we don't want them to be really deeply nested -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
