https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439545 Bug ID: 439545 Summary: Slow file sharing speed (PC->Android) when using shared folders Product: kdeconnect Version: unspecified Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: android-application Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com Reporter: mrdoctor...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Slow file sharing speed (PC->Android) when using shared folders. I have a shared folder (/sdcard/Download) on my phone which I share with PC via KDE Connect (KDE Connect doesn't have any folder access apart from this one). If I open that folder with Dolphin and paste the file, the transfer speed will be about 1MB/s. But if I use file context menu (RMB on the file -> Send to phone via KDE Connect), the speed will be about 10MB/s which is fine. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open KDE Connect on the phone and add a shared folder (I shared Download). 2. Find a file to share on your PC with Dolphin (ideally 300-500MB) and copy it to the clipboard. 3. Open your phone on the devices tab, open the shared folder and paste the file. 4. See that the transfer speed is very slow. 5. Stop transfering and RMB on the file -> choose option "Send file Via KDE Connect". 6. Notice the much faster transfer speed (10-20MB/s in my case). [kwave] [Bug 439537] Kwave audio stutters when loading files or redrawing UI
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439537 --- Comment #1 from nyanpasu64 --- It appears the problem is that Qt Multimedia is the default audio backend on Linux: https://github.com/KDE/kwave/blob/master/libkwave/PlayBackParam.h#L31-L39 And Qt Multimedia is unacceptably flawed in that it drives audio from the UI thread, which causes audio to stop being processed when the UI is blocked on another operation. Switching Kwave's Settings -> Playback to ALSA or "Pulse Audio" fixes the issue (the audio does not block when performing UI operations). However, ALSA results in the playback cursor being positioned around half a second ahead of the actual audio being played (as soon as I press Play with the cursor at the beginning, the playback point appears at ~590 ms), indicating a large amount of buffering far greater than the "1 kB" specified in the Playback settings dialog. I suspect recording needs to be switched away from Qt Multimedia as well. (IDK if Qt 6 will come with Qt Multimedia APIs not tied to the UI thread, or if Kwave will be killed by the Qt 6 migration because of a lack of users and developers.) Unfortunately the default playback backend can't easily be changed. The order of playback_method_t controls the order of default playback backends... but reordering the enum to switch default backends results in their options being swapped, because kwaverc's [plugin playback] saves each backend's options by enum index under last_device_N, rather than by name! (Also I thought Settings -> Playback wasn't a settings dialog at all, but something else. I was confused that I couldn't find a Settings -> Settings menu item, and thought Kwave was completely unconfigurable. Turns out it actually is configurable.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

It shouldn't be possible, as it produces strange visual glitches/effects, and it does not make at all. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 'Lucifers' can only be used to light a fire). [krita] [Bug 439549] New: Request : prevent snap toggle to cancel/commit transform mode
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439549 Bug ID: 439549 Summary: Request : prevent snap toggle to cancel/commit transform mode Product: krita Version: 4.4.5 Platform: unspecified OS: All Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: Tools/Transform Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: tgdev...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY The snap toggle feature cancels/commits an active transform mode. This is not a bug but a situation which is in my opinion, counter productive. I hope you can do something about it. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have some pixels painted on a layer. 2. Go in transform mode, I press "CTRL + T" on my side for that. 3. While in transform mode, toggle any snapping on or off OBSERVED RESULT Toggling the snapping commits the active transform mode, and you exit it without wanting that. Like if it's necessary to exit transform mode for the snapping to be enabled/disabled. EXPECTED RESULT The transform mode is supposed to stay active, whether the snap is toggled on or off. Snap_toggle() != commit_transform(). SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows 10 1909 But it's probably applicable to all other OSs as well. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

After changing the number of Layout.maximumHeight of the player controls row (in ToolTipInstance.qml), I can now confirm the height of the hidden overlay is the same or at least proportional to the height of the player controls row, which explains why the bug is gone after hiding the player controls row (height=0). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[konsole] [Bug 439551] Crash when closing window
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439551 --- Comment #2 from Martin Sandsmark --- I see that the crash seems to happen in some plugin, but I can't find anywhere to disable or enable/add or remove plugins. Am I hitting a bug, or isn't there a way to do this? There has also been some regression in performance (delaying time-to-first-show noticeably), so it would be nice to test if this is the root cause. [frameworks-kio] [Bug 178678] Navigating mounted network locations is extremely slow in Dolphin compared to command line
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=178678 --- Comment #96 from Harald Sitter --- I'm pretty sure you've not caught it being busy right there. The GUI thread is entirely idle. It's curious though, the walker thread is running... What happens if you remove the Size column from the view and restart dolphin? Does that make things more responsive? If so, does tweaking the folder size display setting in dolphin's View Modes settings make any difference in performance? Also, what have you configured there for the size display? Assuming the walker thread being active isn't a fluke my theory would be that either your network or the server can't cope with the load the size walking causes in addition to the regular activity for listing items (which would likely have some bogus blocking IO calls on the GUI thread due to this being a local path as mentioned in Comment #94) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Discover] [Bug 431876] Can't update themes using Discover on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431876 Dan Leinir Turthra Jensen changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |WAITINGFORINFO CC||ad...@leinir.dk Status|REPORTED|NEEDSINFO --- Comment #2 from Dan Leinir Turthra Jensen --- At the very least /some/ of this should be fixed now... There's multiple issues at play here, so i'll leave this one open to track the ones that are still open. One situation that would occur is the situation where there is one option to pick from, which it turns out has potentially been broken for a while (see https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/knewstuff/-/merge_requests/133 for a description of the problem). We still have that problem where Discover doesn't know how to forward queries to the user (specifically in this case the choice between a bunch of different options for downloads, where one can't be deduced automatically). As it works right now in Discover, any we can't work out just get aborted, and you should expect to end up with /some/ entries that aren't updated, but also that you should now be given an actionable error message about what you need to do to work around it in the meantime. Finally, being a bit wonky on the ol' German, we've got what feels to me like probably a server side issue, with that internal server error. Can you confirm whether or not this error exact error still exists today? The server side stuff has recently had a massive overhaul done to it, and it seems like that might have had an effect. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
