>From what I recall Chrome has a dedicated Audio wake lock for when playing
audio that only blocks suspend, not screen off.

There was a bug in older versions where suspend inhibition would also keep the
screen on but this has long been fixed.

Yes, MellowPlayer reports the "Playing Audio" wakelock too, separately from
"Video Wake Lock".

But the problem seems is that KDE blocks the "Screen Energy Saving mode" in
"Playing Audio" wakelock too, so if this bug is actual, maybe fill the separate
issue to fix it?

I would suspect this is a problem with wacom module itself or possibly X11
wacom driver, since if you're loggout out, kded (and wacomtablet kded module)
should not be involved.

You can try reproducing this once again, now with X11 stopped completely,
possibly to rule out X11 driver and leaving only the kernel module.

You can try reporting this issue to:
https://github.com/linuxwacom/input-wacom/issues (kernel driver)
https://github.com/linuxwacom/xf86-input-wacom/issues (X11 driver, if the
problem disappears with X11 stopped)

Nearly invisible timeout ring

If one uses a light selection color (which I prefer for numerous reasons), the
timeout ring can become hard to see on a light background color. There is no
guarantee that one's selection color is going to have high contrast with the
window background color. It makes more sense to use a color that is
"guaranteed" (for any sensible color scheme) to have a high contrast with the
window background color, such as one of the text colors, e.g. "active text".

(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #3)
> You're right, my mistake. Sorry about that.

> Is this just when setting shortcuts? It's not seen anywhere else?

No worries.

Yes, the accented keys work just fine everywhere else on my system including
multiple KDE apps (Ark, Dolphin, Gwenview, Kate, Konsole, KCalc, KDE Partition
Manager...). The only issue I'm having is when trying to assign shortcuts in
System Settings > Shorcuts.

I noticed something else which is not specific to accented keys because it
doesn't work with US keymap either: it seems that we cannot assign
"Meta+Shift+" to any action.

To reproduce, using regular English US keymap:

1. Go to System Settings > Shortcuts
2. Try to assign say "Meta+Shift+1" for "Window to Desktop 1" action
3. As you press the keys to define the shortcut, "Meta" and "Shift" appear in
the box with the wheel, but as soon as you press "1", the shortcut ends up
being "Meta+!". It seems that "Shift" key cannot be used in combination with
another key which has two variants. Indeed, "Meta+Shift+" or
"Meta+Shift+* (the * key being on the numpad and not having any variant) work
just fine. But "Meta+Shift+7" will lead to "Meta+&" and so on.

Maybe I should create a distinct bug report for this?

 Component: kcm_firewall
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: sadiyumu...@gmail.com
CC: tcanabr...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY, STEPS TO REPRODUCE, AND OBSERVED RESULT

1. In a Live Session, System Settings doesn't show Firewall as "Enabled", but
after a fresh install of KDE neon using my /home partition (from Kubuntu),
System Settings showed it as "Enabled", although the output of terminal command
"sudo ufw status verbose" said it was inactive. However, entering the command
"sudo ufw enable" in Konsole, followed by commands to open ports for KDE
Connect, properly resulted in 4 rules being displayed in System Settings.

2. Systems Settings also shows Firewall Default Incoming Policy as "Ignore"
(and not "Reject"), although the output of terminal command "sudo ufw status
verbose" is "Default: deny (incoming), allow (outgoing), disabled (routed)".

EXPECTED RESULT

1. The status of Firewall in System Settings should at all circumstances match
the output of the terminal command "sudo ufw status verbose".

2. Default Incoming Policy should be "Deny" and not "Ignore" (also using the
term "Deny" instead of "Reject" for the sake of terminological consistency).

SUMMARY
I have a PDF file with a media9-embedded movie, that plays correctly (in
presentation mode) on apt-okular (Ubuntu 19), which has version 1.3.3.
I decided to install instead the newer version of okular via 'snap', namely
version 20.12.3. However, in this case, the movie does not play and the area
becomes black when I click to start the movie. All done in the same computer.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

2. Open the attached PDF, enter presentation mode, click to Play, all works
well
3. Uninstall okular from apt
4. Install okular from snap

[Ruqola] [Bug 434963] New: [feature-request] Jump to mentions

2021-03-26 Thread Angel Docampo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434963

Bug ID: 434963
   Summary: [feature-request] Jump to mentions
   Product: Ruqola
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: frontend
  Assignee: mon...@kde.org
  Reporter: docampo.an...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
On RC client, you can see where you've been mentioned with a red line on the
scroll bar. On ruqola there is no way to see it, just an "@" sign on the chat
list says you've N mentions to read, but once you enter the chat, you need to
manually scroll up to see the mentions, and look for them reading all the text.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Say somebody to chat you while you are away, if possible, more than once and
with quite text between mention and mention
2. After a while, enter in ruqola, and you'll see the chat notification and the
at sign with a number in parentheses meaning the number of unread mentions.
3. Enter the chat and look for your mentions manually.

OBSERVED RESULT
You need to manually scroll up to the red line of unread message and then
manually scroll down reading all the messages until you find the mentions

EXPECTED RESULT
It should be a graphical or automatical way to "jump" to the mentions: a modal
window, a key combination (like Ctrl+M... or if you can throttle through

[okular] [Bug 434964] New: some animated PDFs (Latex beamer) are not supported by okular

2021-03-26 Thread ferdymercury
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434964

Bug ID: 434964
Summary: some animated PDFs (Latex beamer) are not supported by
okular
   Product: okular
   Version: 20.12.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: PDF backend

warning animated pdf

SUMMARY
Thanks for supporting animated Beamers in okular!

I have come to an unexpected situation, where this animated PDF plays well in
Okular:
https://texample.net/media/tikz/examples/PDF/animated-definite-integral.pdf

which uses:
`\begin{animateinline}[loop, poster = first, controls, palindrome]{2}`

But this one does not:
https://tud.qucosa.de/api/qucosa%3A29620/attachment/ATT-1/ (page 6)

that uses:
`\begin{animateinline}[controls]{1}`

and gives the warning seen in the attachment.

Both of them play well in Adobe Reader.

Do you see a similar problem? I am using version 20.12.3
Are there plans to support this type of animations in the future? (As I can not
edit that published PDF any more)

Backup info: https://community.kde.org/GSoC/2019/StatusReports/Jo%C3%A3oNetto

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open PDF from first link above. Plays well.
2. Open PDF from second link above (page 6). Does not play.

OBSERVED RESULT
Second PDF animation does not play.

EXPECTED RESULT
Both should work

unread messages counter doesn't disappear

SUMMARY
When you have new messages and read them, the unread messages counter isn't
disappearing until you answer on the chat, which I found is not normal, as you
have in fact read the messages.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Say someone to chat while you are not in the same channel
2. See how the unread counter shows you have unread messages
3. Enter the chat channel where you have unread messages

OBSERVED RESULT
Unread messages counter doesn't disappear and channel is still highlighted as
if it had unread messages.

EXPECTED RESULT
Unread messages counter should disappear as soon as you enter the chat, or at
least, as soon as you reach the end of the conversation, not just when you send
a message back to the channel.

Oh, right, I got them mixed up. I can play games on this laptop, so I guess
there's ample power. The thing is that the issue is there even with my desktop
with its Radeon 5700, which has ample power to handle everything.
I see a similar issue with KSysGuard as well, yes. In that case it's the
KSysGuard process which uses 30+% CPU. I wonder, not knowing anything about the
implementation, if they have libraries in common and if that could be one area
to explore...

imagepath.log.xz

Patch attached earlier requires boost and private headers of qtbase and
qtdeclarative.

Log file generated after creating 100 konsole windows and 1 qterminal window,
and running patched plasmashell with:

LC_ALL=C DEBUGIMAGEPATH=1 DEBUGOBJECTS=1 plasmashell -n --replace

After that I expanded konsole group once and replaced plasmashell with instance
without debug settings.

It looks like there are thousands instances of FrameSvg and SvgPrivate objects
exist at same time. To be more precise, this time I got 8541 simultaneous
instances of FrameSvg and 10323 instances of SvgPrivate.

Most qml stack traces looked like one of following 3 variants:

1)
expression for leftPadding
(file:///usr/lib64/qt5/qml/org/kde/plasma/components.3/ToolButton.qml:0)
expression for implicitWidth
(file:///usr/lib64/qt5/qml/org/kde/plasma/components.3/ToolButton.qml:0)
onContainsMouseChanged
(file:///usr/share/kf5/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.taskmanager/contents/ui/Task.qml:350)

2)
expression for visible
(file:///usr/lib64/qt5/qml/org/kde/plasma/components.3/private/ButtonContent.qml:0)
expression for horizontalAlignment
(file:///usr/lib64/qt5/qml/org/kde/plasma/components.3/private/ButtonContent.qml:58)
onContainsMouseChanged
(file:///usr/share/kf5/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.taskmanager/contents/ui/Task.qml:350)

3)
onContainsMouseChanged
(file:///usr/share/kf5/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.taskmanager/contents/ui/Task.qml:350)

I tried using qt_v4StackTraceForEngine for obtaining qml stack trace, but it
always crashed for me since currentStackFrame is NULL:

https://code.qt.io/cgit/qt/qtdeclarative.git/tree/src/qml/jsruntime/qv4engine.cpp?h=v5.15.2#n838

It looks like excessive amount of Plasma::Svg and Plasma::FrameSvg instances is
created and destroyed each time this scenario happens.

It went from 119 instances to 4318 instances of Plasma::FrameSvg and from 176
instances to 5276 instances of SvgPrivate::SvgPrivate when showing grouped
tasks, and to 8541 instances of Plasma::FrameSvg and back to 259 instances (for
Plasma::Svg it went -> 10323 -> 425 instances) after I tried to scroll it using
mouse wheel.

I think this has to be optimized somehow.

[Ruqola] [Bug 434965] Read messages count doesn't disappear until you type something

2021-03-26 Thread Angel Docampo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434965

Well, if people looks nice this behaviour, I'm no one to say the contrary ;)
but If I come back from holidays, I'm not gonna read 2 weeks of logs, only if
I've been mentioned, I would jump to that message block.

I guess the best approach is what Mattermost or even RC does: when you click on
a channel, it shows the first unread message and if the user wants to read
everything, there is no need to scroll up to the red line, and there is a
button to go to the last message and other to mark as read.

I think ruqola shows the newer message when you click on a channel, not the
older unread, isn't it?

Anyway, is nice to know the Esc hotkey trick.

There's a bunch of code shared, among others the data collection for the
process statistics. So if there's an issue it seems to be in the shared code.

I'm by no means a nftables user, and I'd need a hand or two there.

It's not scaled to 100%, it's per-core utilisation which I actually deem far
better to understand what's going on. Seeing "12.5%" on my Ryzen 5 2500U
doesn't immediately explain why the fan is spinning like crazy, seeing "100%"
on a single core does.

With canvas acceleration the soft proofing doesn't work all the time. Most of
the time it will make the image (all layers) transparent, some times it

With the canvas acceleration OFF the soft proof does nothing.

It happens with any model, CMYK, Grayscale, XYZ... and any profile.

Works perfectly in the stable

[plasma-systemmonitor] [Bug 434877] High CPU usage

2021-03-26 Thread Arjen Hiemstra
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434877

In that case it's 50% of one core, which is not different from what mine does.
It also means that this is not going to be fixed any time soon, if at all. The
problem lies with the complete lack of a kernel API[1] for the statistics that
we query, apart from the text files in /proc. This means that every update we
have to read the entire /proc directory to determine if there are new processes
or if processes have gone away, then for each of these directories read a bunch
of text files, parse them and convert that to something that we can use to
display data. Moreover, these files are not real files but can potentially do
stuff behind our back to provide the text data. One example here is
/proc/PID/smaps_rollup which will actually go through a process' memory pages
when it is opened and which is one part of the fairly large amount of CPU
usage.

[1]: There is actually a kernel interface to get basic process information over
netlink, but it has been declared unsafe and can only be accessed by root.

Same behavior with Angle, OpenGL, and Software render

The only thing that makes a difference is the graphic acceleration. With it
activated soft proofing works as shown in the video, if deactivated nothing
happens (the ON/OFF indicator appears but there is no change).

Underscores visible (with Hack font)

Does changing the font resolve the issue? I can see the underscores here (with
the Hack font and I also tested with Courier which IIRC is the default font)
but I remember experiencing the same bug some other time before.

2021-03-26 Thread Marco Ambu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434970

Bug ID: 434970
Summary: Windows are re arranged to primary monitor after
unlock
   Product: kscreenlocker
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: marco.a...@gmail.com
CC: bhus...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When using multiple monitors, after unlocking after the energy saving timeout
all the open windows are moved to the primary monitor even if they were in the
secondary before the lock.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. wait for the monitors to go off
2. press a key to show the unlock screen and type password

OBSERVED RESULT
When the session is back all the windows re-arranged in the primary monitor.
Also, applications in full screen in both monitors cannot see the second
monitor again.

EXPECTED RESULT
When the session is back all the windows are where they were before locking
(including the secondary monitor).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian bullseye 5.10.0-5-amd64
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Qt Version: 5.12.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This does not happen if I use Win+L to lock and then unlock before the monitor
power saving timeout kicks in.
