[kwin] [Bug 400987] XWayland application focus breaks

2019-10-20 Thread Brian
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400987

Can bug priority be changed? This is a pretty big issue, and i think it should
get some attention before 5.18. Otherwise, Wayland will continue to be
essentially unusable on AMD graphics cards (Vega 8 & 11 APUs, and Radeon RX 400
& 500s from my testing). I've tested it on a bunch of hardware and have
reproduced it each time. Intel hardware doesn't seem affected at all.

[plasmashell] [Bug 412152] [Wayland] cannot start session on anything other than proprietary NVIDIA drivers

2019-10-20 Thread Pawel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412152

Yes, maybe it's a workaround for Plasma Wayland session on AMDGPU, but with
this parameters my Plasma (rather applications) are unstable now. I know, that
amdgpu.dc=1 is rather not for my GCN2 GPU. With many applications crash often.
There're many freezes of Plasma and applications. I cannot see mails in KMail
etc.

scaling 1.2, 100% width, 100% height

I have the same issue on a x250 (HD Graphics 5500) on plasma 5.17 (but the
issue exists already longer..). I've set both height and width to 100%, but
yakuake is filling only ~80% of the screen when popping up, scaling is 1.2. If
I increase the scaling, the width/height is reduced accordingly. Setting
manually fullscreen, however, works.

[plasmashell] [Bug 413223] New: Plasma Wayland session crashes immediately after login

2019-10-20 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=413223

Bug ID: 413223
Summary: Plasma Wayland session crashes immediately after login
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: generic-wayland
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: fmako...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
After logging in through SDDM with Plasma (Wayland) selected, the splash screen
appears as normal and for a brief second the desktop background and icons on it
show. Plasma then crashes before the task panel can appear. Likely caused by
AMD Navi graphics card.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select Plasma (Wayland) on SDDM login screen
2. Log in

OBSERVED RESULT
Upon logging into the Plasma Wayland session, Plasma crashes. KRunner doesn't
start, but Yakuake does and can be used to run applications. Trying to run
'plasmashell' briefly makes the desktop background appear before crashing
again, and the terminal output ends in the following:

Yesterday I reported a similar bug to openSUSE.
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1154535, sddm cant start wayland.
maybe it is the same problem.
I was asked to report it to bugs.kde.org.

The problems began with the latest updates of plasma on 2019-10-16

I tried everything, but could not repair this. There are a lot of
customizations maybe there could be a connection.

Summary: plasma - control bar - desktop switcher - resized font

   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.17.0
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

screenshot of desktop switcher with broken labels

I have a control bar with a height of 36. Within it I added a desktop switcher
(two rows, named by numbers).
At the start everything is displayed correctly.
But when I move a window with the mouse in the desktop switcher from one
desktop to another, the fonts are scaled up and and drawed on a wrong position
(shifted down).
(Its a dualhead setup, dont know if it matters.)

At least 5.16 and 5.17 have this problem.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Control bar with heigth 36 and desktop switcher with two rows and labeled
desktops.
2. Move window in desktop switcher from one desktop to another.

OBSERVED RESULT
Labels are scaled up and and shifted down.

EXPECTED RESULT
No change to label.

[kwin] [Bug 400987] XWayland application focus breaks

2019-10-20 Thread Brian
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400987

(In reply to Patrick Silva from comment #37)
> I use intel hd graphics and this issue affects my system.

Ah sorry. I didn't recall the people reporting it on Intel too. As i showed
from my comment, it's not easy to detect sometimes because of how random it can
be. So it could definitely be some kind of race condition in kwin, or a bug in
XWayland.

2019-10-20 Thread Richard Ullger
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412940

Yes, clicking on the desktop closes the settings window but leaves the dock
background and Rearrange button.

Another thing I've noticed is that when you go into the latte settings, the
dock becomes more spaced out with the space around the separators being
increased. When the settings window is closed, this spacing doesn't return to
normal.

Only way to fix this is to build Latte from specific code branch I will tell

and you will test them and send me back the output that is produced.

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 413231] New: Kscreenlocker random crash after inotify_add failure

2019-10-20 Thread Qu Wenruo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=413231

Bug ID: 413231
Summary: Kscreenlocker random crash after inotify_add failure
   Product: kscreenlocker
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: greeter
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: quwenruo.bt...@gmx.com
CC: bhus...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

First thing first, I don't understand why kscreenlocker is calling
inotify_add(), especially calling inotify_add() can fail due to limit. And I
don't believe it's OK to make kscreenlocker to read things in one's home
directory.

Secondly, kscreenlocker_greeter crash would easily make user experience crappy.
User needs to unlock the session manually using loginctl.

The crash happens with the following info in journal:
17:07:37 adam-pc kscreenlocker_greet[12230]:

device)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use fs.inotify.max_user_watches to a low value (in my case, it's 2048)
2. Lock the session manually or wait for screensaver to kick in

OBSERVED RESULT
Kscreenlocker crashes and have to use loginctl to unlock session

spacing will be fixed when the main issue is fixed... If you cant build Latte
yourself the only way this could be tracked down is if that bug can be
reproduced in my system. It could be Qt 5.14 which is in Beta state, qt may
have made a change that creates that situation... no idea... If that is the
case when Tumbleweed update its qt version to 5.14 then it may hit me also.

[kstars] [Bug 413216] Mosaic tool copies FITS file to job specs, leading to incorrect alignment of mosaic captures

2019-10-20 Thread James Harrison
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=413216

(In reply to Jasem Mutlaq from comment #1)
> So the coordinates are used for the initial slew to the target. If a FITS
> file was specified, then the plate solver would perform the following:
>
> 1. Solve the FITS file.
> 2. Slew the mount to the solution coordinates (center of FITS file).
> 3. Captures and image to ensure we are at the coords in #2.
>
> Does this clears it up for you?

That absolutely is the behaviour I am seeing and is expected.

However, the mosaic tool should *never* set the FITS attribute in any of the
jobs it creates, even if set in the origin job, because the whole purpose of
that tool is to calculate the coordinates for each job, and those will *always*
differ from the FITS file.

Thus leading to the unexpected behaviour of the mosaic tool jobs all imaging
the same location, not the mosaic targets.

FolderStructure

SUMMARY
Reproduced on 2 different computers, windows7-32bit and windows10-64bit.
I have a folder with photos from the last 20 years. The folder structure is
following:
Фотографии
   Фотографии
   2003
  2003-01-01

  2003-02-xx

   2019
   2019-02-Поездка в Ниццу

I install the digiKam, and give a path to the root folder when the app asks to
do so on the first run.
So the Album looks same as folder structure, and a top folder in the album is
"Фотографии"
Application does not import the files, only the folder structure. The nodes in
the album tree are empty.
When I click on the Albums tree, the application just crashes.
The album folder is inside the one, used by OneDrive to sync with Microsoft
cloud OneDrive.

[plasmashell] [Bug 413019] Widget positioning is broken when switching to the external monitor

I'm using KDEneon 5.17.0 with a two monitor setup (1920x1080 and 1280x1024).
After the update to Plasma 5.17.0 the widgets begun to resize and move to new
positions on my 1280x1024 screen (I only have widgets on this screen). This
happens after logging in nearly every time.

So I can confirm this bug.

(See my screenshots)

Question and suggestion:
Is it really needed to move the widgets around? I can do this by hand and
sometimes it is intended to overlap two widgets. The only case to move a widget
by the system is if it floats out of the viewable area. This automatic rezise
and move around thing should stripped out of the code in my opinion. Only a
suggestion. This is a very wired behavior.

[yakuake] [Bug 275433] [multi-head] multiple window size issues

2019-10-20 Thread Nicolas
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275433

I've played around a bit, and it seems that the KWindowSyste::workArea() is not
working as expected -- at least on scaled (and/or multi-head) setups.

What kind of works better is simply returning screenGeometry always in
MainWindow::getDesktopGeometry(), it seems to be a bit more reliable, ie. doing
the same for wayland and x11:

if (m_isWayland || true) {
// on Wayland it's not possible to get the work area
return screenGeometry;
}

Then the window will overlap the panel if the height is 100%, but I can set the
height to 90%, but then get a working yakuake on dual-screens with scaling

[Discover] [Bug 413235] New: Autostart entry defaults enabled in all DEs

2019-10-20 Thread George
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=413235

Bug ID: 413235
Summary: Autostart entry defaults enabled in all DEs
   Product: Discover
   Version: 5.17.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: discover
  Assignee: lei...@leinir.dk
  Reporter: vas...@gmail.com
CC: aleix...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The autostart entry for Discover defaults enabled in all desktop environments.
This causes people in Gnome or other DEs that also have the KDE stack installed
to have two software centers at boot. Note that for comparison, Gnome Software
Center's .desktop file contains "OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;" which has the
expected behavior of not booting within other DEs.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Discover
2. Log into any DE other than KDE

OBSERVED RESULT
Discover starts along with the DE's native software installer

EXPECTED RESULT
Only the software installers native to the DE start

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch (latest) w/ KDE discover-5.17.0-1
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.0-1
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.63.0-1
Qt Version: 5.13.1-2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Fix is to add the following to the .desktop file (may want to add additional
DEs that depend on this component):
OnlyShowIn=KDE;

Please run

I doubt it's related. Most cases where you see stderr it shows a dev handled a
bad case. It's also 2 minutes earlier.

I think it's the known slideshow wallpaper crash, which will be fixed in 5.17.1

Failing that please run

gdb --args /opt/kde5/lib64/libexec/kscreenlocker_greet --testing

(In reply to Boudewijn Rempt from comment #5)

> reproduce.

The way I think you can reproduce this bug is:
1) Change the location that one of the windows default folders
(images, videos, documents, and so on...) points to. That can be done by right
click and in the local tab you change the local to another drive.
2) Save the file inside the folder you changed the location it points to.
3) Try to open the file through the recent documents.

What I also noticed is that the open recent in the file menu gets disabled,
like there were no recent opened files at all.

2019-10-20 Thread Qu Wenruo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=413231

I'm not using the slideshow mode, just a single picture. (with a little long
file name with multiple spaces in it)

And as I mentioned it's really random, using --testing to start greeter hasn't
yet triggered the crash yet (0/10 runs).
But has hit it in real world load in both my laptop and desktop more than once.

I'll try to catch a crash, but coredumpctl hasn't yet catch any dump yet, which
looks pretty strange.

libs/openjpeg has that dependency now and libjpeg-turbo seems not to need it.

What does this bug mean?
That we shall use Oxygen? I wouldn't try that, as breeze is the currently
actively maintained icon set and is more in style with what Win10 has as icons
anyways.

[plasmashell] [Bug 413138] MinimizeAll KWin script stopped restoring windows

I tried "Minimize all windows" widget and it seems to work the same now. The
icon changes state, but nothing happens after a click, so probably it was
broken too.

[kmail2] [Bug 413240] New: Crash on start: Unable to obtain agent type ''

2019-10-20 Thread Bart Ribbers
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=413240

Bug ID: 413240
Summary: Crash on start: Unable to obtain agent type ''
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bribb...@disroot.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I'm trying to package KMail for Alpine Linux, but it crashes on start with the
following error:

org.kde.pim.mailcommon: "The Email program encountered a fatal error and will
terminate now.\nThe error was:\nUnable to obtain agent type ''."
org.kde.pim.akonadicore: Failed to request resource "" : "Cannot connect to the
Akonadi service. (Unable to obtain agent type ''.)"

Not sure if it matters in this case, but the system uses Musl rather than
glibc.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Just try to run KMail on Alpine Linux

OBSERVED RESULT
Crashes on start

EXPECTED RESULT
Not to crash

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Alpine Linux Edge
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.63.0
Qt Version: 5.12.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a Musl based system, so glibc is not available.
